The drama  “Understanding of Love” will narrate the romance between Ha Sang Soo, Ahn Soo Young, Park Mi Kyung, and Jung Jong Hyun who are co-workers at the Yeongpo branch of Nara Bank which is celebrating its 99th anniversary.The romance drama is about four individuals with different interests who meet each other at the Yeongpo branch of KCU Bank and come to understand the true meaning of love.

Character descriptions

 

Ha Song Soo (Yoo Yeon Seok) is the third-year general counsel team at Nara Bank's Yeongpo branch. He is a person who's not easily swayed by the challenges of life. Ha Sang Soo has had this position for three years already, and he is a handsome, intelligent, and sturdy person who will not waver in the face of life’s difficulties. Although he is an upright character, Ha Sang Soo is not cold or too formal but rather warmhearted with a humorous side. Not to mention, he has an athletic form fit for a national athlete rather than a bank employee. He entered his job as the top employee from Nara Bank’s training center, so he is very popular but also the source of envy for many others.

 

 

Ahn Soo Young (Moon Ga Young) is a fourth-year chief bank teller at Nara Bank’s Yeongpo branch. Known as the goddess of Yeongpo branch, she possesses gorgeous looks and a sweet voice. She started off as a part-time teller and is now a fourth-year chief, but she seems to be forever stuck at that level. Ahn Soo Young has maintained a busy lifestyle to protect herself after growing up in a difficult environment. She believes that love can fall apart in an instant, but she finds herself falling for a man who suddenly appears in her life.

 

Park Mi Kyung ( Geum Sae Rok ) is a bold woman who grew up in a wealthy family. Once she sets her eyes on someone, she gives her all to make that relationship happen. However, there is one relationship that just does not go as she hopes.

 

Jung Jong Hyun (Jung Ga Ram) is studying to become a police officer. He is a diligent character who always does his best and wants to become someone good enough for the person he loves. When harsh reality comes in his way, he has to make an important decision.

Yoo Yeon Seok and Moon Ga Young may be uniting for a new drama!

After it was revealed earlier in the day that Yoo Yeon Seok is in talks to star in the JTBC drama “Understanding of Love” (literal title), an industry representative additionally reported that Moon Ga Young will be starring in the drama.

The actress’s agency KeyEast Entertainment commented in response, “JTBC’s ‘Understanding of Love’ is a project that [Moon Ga Young] is positively reviewing.”

Moon Ga Young has been offered the role of Ahn Soo Young, a fourth-year chief bank teller at Nara Bank’s Yeongpo branch. Known as the goddess of Yeongpo branch, she possesses gorgeous looks and a sweet voice. She started off as a part-time teller and is now a fourth-year chief, but she seems to be forever stuck at that level.

On March 22, an industry representative reported that Yoo Yeon Seok will be starring as the lead of JTBC’s new drama “Understanding of Love” (literal title).

On March 22nd several news outlets shared that Yoo Yeon Seok is returning to dramas through JTBC's series "Understanding of Love."  

"Understanding of Love" will base its story on the novel of the same name by Lee Hyukjin. The series will be directed by Lee Hyun Jung and Jo Young Min ("Do You Like Brahms?"). The script will be written by Lee Seo Hyun. 

The upcoming JTBC drama is said to be a love affair noir series. It will tell the office romance story between four people. The dram is set in the Yeongpo branch of Nara Bank which is celebrating its 99th anniversary.

On October 6th, JTBC announced that Yoo Yeon Seok, Moon Ga Young, Geum Sae Rok, and Jung Ga Ram will work together for the upcoming Wednesday-Thursday series "Understanding of Love."

"Understanding of Love" will be a melodrama focusing on four men and women with different insights about love. They will meet in one space and understand the true meaning of love.

Yoo Yeon Seok will play the role of Ha Sang Soo, a person who believes that a monotonous and stable life is the key to happiness but his life will be shaken after experiencing love.

Moon Ga Young will play the role of Ahn Soo Young, a person that has a busy daily life and to not go back to her difficult environment past.  

Geum Sae Rok will play the role of Park Mi Kyung, a woman full of sophistication who was born into a wealthy family. Whenever she sees someone she likes, she will do everything to make the relationship happen but there's one relationship exception that she can't win.

Jung Ga Ram will give life to the role named Jung Jong Hyun, a person studying to become an official police officer. He does everything to please the person he loves but when the harsh reality comes, he has to give an important choice.

"Understanding of Love" will premiere in the second half of2022.

 

This will be the second drama of Yoo Yeon Seok for 2022. He first starred in the Netflix originals series "Narco-Saints." He will also join the upcoming film "Puppy." 

Meanwhile, this will be the third drama that Moon Ga Young will participate in in 2022. She first made a special appearance in the drama "Sh**ting Stars." She then led the tvN drama "Link: Eat, Love, Kill" with Yeo Jin Goo. 

For Geum Sae Rok, this will be her first drama for the year. She is also set to star in the upcoming drama "The Blue House Family" led by Cha In Pyo, Ye Ji Won, and Jung Woong In.

Lastly, this will be the comeback of Jung Ga Ram to broadcast channel dramas. He last starred in the Netflix original series "Love Alarm 2."

Oh Dong Min will be joining the upcoming drama "Understanding of Love."

On October 18th, Oh Dong Min's agency Mystic Story shared that the actor will be added to the cast of the upcoming JTBC and Disney+ drama "Understanding Love."

"Understanding Love" is a melodrama that will showcase the story of people with different insights about love. The four men and women will meet together and they will know the meaning of true love.

The series will be directed by Jo Young Min and written by Lee Hyun Jung and Lee Seo Hyun.

JTBC’s upcoming romance drama “Understanding of Love” (literal title) is about four individuals with different interests who meet each other at the Yeongpo branch of KCU Bank and come to understand the true meaning of love.

The drama’s four lead stars Yoo Yeon Seok, Moon Ga Young, Geum Sae Rok, and Jung Ga Ram will draw out detailed portrayals of the relationships that arise from their characters’ various perspectives with regards to the emotion of love.

 

 

These four actors were joined at the drama’s first script reading by the supporting cast, director Jo Young Min, and writers Lee Seo Hyun and Lee Hyun Jung. With three years of experience under his belt, he’s steady as can be, accomplishing his tasks with consistency and competence. That is, until change comes knocking on his door in the form of an unexpected variable called love.

 

Alongside him is Moon Ga-young (Link: Eat, Love, Kill) in the role of Ahn Soo-young, a senior bank teller with four years of experience. Her gentle disposition and pleasant smiles earn her much popularity, but she doesn’t have high hopes for love, comparing romance to a sandcastle that could crumble at any moment.

In contrast, Geum Sae-rok (Youth of May) stars as the optimistic deputy manager Park Mi-kyung, who’s bright and candid about her feelings. Though she hails from a rich family, she wishes to assert herself outside of her family background, pouring her all into every task she takes on and accomplishing the title of the youngest deputy manager at KCU Bank.

Fresh out of the military, Jung Ga-ram (Love Alarm 2) returns as Jung Jong-hyun, a diligent but down-on-his-luck idealist who’s studying for the police civil service test. Currently, he’s working as a security personnel at KCU Bank, juggling love, debt, and dreams.

Based on the novel of the same name by Lee Hyuk-jin, Understanding of Love is directed by Jo Young-min (Do You Like Brahms?) and written by Lee Seo-hyun and Lee Hyun-jung. Though a premiere date has not been set, it aims to air late this year.

JTBC has revealed the first official poster for its upcoming drama “Understanding of Love”!

 

Starring Yoo Yeon Seok, Moon Ga Young, Geum Sae Rok, and Jung Ga Ram, “Understanding of Love” is a romance drama about four individuals with different interests who meet each other at the Yeongpo branch of KCU Bank and come to understand the true meaning of love.

 

Earlier, the four lead actors and the other cast members met for a script reading, where they finally got a chance to interact with their co-stars and introduce everyone to the characters they would be playing. The drama has now revealed another preview of what’s to come through an official poster.

 

The poster shows four lanyards hanging against a white backdrop: our four main characters’ employee IDs left behind after they go home for the day. While they may all appear the same at first glance, a closer inspection reveals how each ID has its own unique features and characteristics, from the different colored lanyards to the information written on each card, symbolizing the individuality of each character. Although they may work in the same place, their views of the world and of love are extremely different, and how they choose to confront something as complex as the idea of “love” is something for each of them to figure out in their own way.

 

While each ID card is slightly different, what’s most interesting is the lack of a position or even a branch name on Jung Jong Hyun (Jung Ga Ram)’s ID.

 

The phrase “About love, and the understanding of it” is written off to the side, summing up the central theme of this drama in just a few words. What is love, and how does each of us understand it?

JTBC’s upcoming romance Understanding of Love has come out with its first poster, featuring our main quartet played by: Yoo Yeon-seok (Narco-Saints), Moon Ga-young (Link: Eat, Love, Kill), Geum Sae-rok (Youth of May), and Jung Ga-ram (Love Alarm 2).

Adapted from a novel by the same name (written by Lee Hyuk-jin), the Korean title uses a homonym and its two meanings are reflected in the story: how people with their own vested interests can meet and learn to understand love in different ways. A similar sentiment is echoed in the poster’s tagline.

 

Adding to the complications, of course, is that our main characters all work at the same bank branch when romance starts to blossom. The poster also displays their work ID tags in descending heights with color-coded lanyards, indicating their differing ranks and departments.

Each coming from their own perspective on love, Ha Sang-soo (Yoo Yeon-seok), to start, is someone who equates happiness with stability and he’s taken completely out of his comfort zone when he takes a risk on love. Ahn Soo-young (Moon Ga-young), on the other hand, sees love through a fragile lens and is skeptical – and perhaps even fearful – about the longevity of relationships.

In contrast, the glass is always half full for Park Mi-kyung (Geum Sae-rok), who wears her heart on her sleeve while striving to be a more assertive and independent adult. Rounding out the group, the hard-working but idealistic Jung Jong-hyun (Jung Ga-ram) has too much on his plate – working while studying and also pursuing love.

Directed by PD Jo Young-min with Lee Seo-hyun and Lee Hyun-jung co-writing, JTBC’s Understanding of Love is slated to premiere next month on December 21 in the Wednesday-Thursday slot.
