Park Ji-Hoon is cast in new Wavve drama series “Weak Hero” (literal title). The drama series is based on webcomic “Yakhanyoungwoong” by Seo Pae-Seu. For “Weak Hero,” Park Ji-Hoon will play protagonist Yeon Shi-Eun. His character is a high school student that appears weak, but has a high intelligence. Park Ji Hoon is confirmed to lead webtoon based drama "Weak Hero"

Park Ji Hoon has been selected as the main lead for the upcoming wavve original series "Weak Hero Season 1." 

On February 16th Park Ji Hoon's agency Maroo Entertainment shared that the idol-actor has been cast as the main character for the upcoming webtoon-based drama "Weak Hero Season 1." 

"Weak Hero Season 1" will be directed by Yoo Soo Min and the story will be based on the popular webtoon of the same name. The drama will narrate the story of a model student who looks weak but fights against the numerous violence inside and outside the school.

Park Ji Hoon will be playing the character named Yeon Shi Eun. He is a model student and is part of the top 1% in his school because of his grades. He will fight against violence using his brains and tools. This will be Park Ji Hoon's first time to be part of an action school drama.

There are no reports yet on the other casts of the upcoming series. 

"Weak Hero Season 1" will be part of the wave original series lineup and it will reportedly premiere in the second half of 2022. According to reports, the production will begin filming soon.

 

This drama will be Park Ji Hoon's first project for 2022. He last starred in the 2021 KBS drama "At a Distance, Spring Is Green" which was also adapted from a webtoon. He also starred in several dramas such as "Love Revolution," "Flower Crew: Joseon Marriage Agency," "Iljimae," "The King and I," "Jumong," and more. 

Park Ji Hoon is active in both his acting and singing career. Last October, he also released his album titled "HOT&COLD." 

He also participated in the reunion performance of his project group Wanna One at 2021 MAMA (Mnet Asian Music Awards).

Wave's original 'Weak Hero' is a strong action-growth drama about a weak boy who fights violence inside and outside school with his innate brain and analytical powers, by Yeon Si-eun, a top 1% schoolboy who seems weak on the surface. On April 7th wavve officially revealed the main leads of their new drama "Weak Hero Season 1." Aside from Park Ji Hoon who was previously confirmed to lead the drama, Choi Hyun Wook and Hong Kyung will also join the upcoming drama.

The newly released trailer begins with Yeon Si Eun facing off against two of his bullies in the bathroom, menacingly clicking a pen as he says in voice-over, “Pavlov’s dog experiment. The bell rings. Food is given. The dog salivates. [Later,] only the bell is rung.”

As the caption reveals that his grades are in the top 1 percent, the clip goes on to show Yeon Si Eun being awarded a gold prize at school. However, his academic success attracts unwanted attention from school bullies, who torment him between classes and tell him, “Did you know that people can’t stand the sight of you?”

But as Yeon Si Eun coldly returns his bully’s gaze, it becomes evident that he isn’t going to go down without a fight. After making friends with Ahn Su Ho (played by Choi Hyun Wook of “Twenty Five, Twenty One”), Yeon Si Eun develops a new goal: “something that’s more important than studying.”

At the end of the video, Yeon Si Eun warns someone threateningly, “I asked you to stop.”

Wow, I never thought I’d find myself using the word “menacing” to describe Park Ji-hoon (At a Distance, Spring is Green), but he’s certainly broken away from his previous image to take on this role — I barely recognized him at first glance!

Wavve original Weak Hero Class 1 is shaping up to be an unflinching, action-packed take on school violence, if its first teaser is anything to go by. Based on the webtoon Weak Hero, the drama follows model student Yeon Shi-eun (Park Ji-hoon) as he fights back against his bullies.

 

 

The teaser opens with Shi-eun slowly advancing upon two school bullies, ominously clicking his pen all the while. A narration accompanies his steps:

Pavlov’s experiment. A bell is rung. Food is given. The dog salivates. Only a bell is rung.

Shi-eun is a top student with excellent grades, which makes him easy pickings for the class bullies. They try to get under his skin by tossing a book at him, instigating a physical fight, and sneering derisively in his face, but Shi-eun isn’t as easy of a target as he seems. When he looks up to meet the bully’s eyes, there’s steel in his gaze.

Free-spirited Ahn Su-ho, played by Choi Hyun-wook (Twenty-Five Twenty-One), takes down a group of bullies with a series of sharp kicks. He’s Shi-eun’s buddy, and the friend trio is completed by bespectacled nerd Oh Beom-seok, played by Hong Kyung (Lovers of the Red Sky).

In class, the bullying continues, and Shi-eun’s eye twitches in irritation. Having finally had enough, he snatches a book off a classmate’s desk and swings it right at the bully’s face. Whoa.

Written and directed by Yoo Soo-min, Weak Hero Class 1 is slated to premiere at the Busan International Film Festival in October. The 8-episode drama will be released on Wavve in November.

On October 17, Wavve released teaser posters from the upcoming drama "Weak Hero Class 1." The teaser posters showcased the main lead, Park Ji Hoon as the character named Yeon Shi Eun. Through the poster, it was also confirmed that the series will premiere this November. 

"Weak Hero Class 1" will base its story on the webtoon of the same name. It will tell the story of a weak boy who is also the top model student in the class. Physically, he is weak but because of his smart ideas, he uses different tools to fight against violence inside and outside of the school. 

The upcoming series will be helmed by director You Su Min. This series was screened at the   27th Busan International Film Festival and it got evaluated as a well-made work. From the plot, actors' performances, music direction, and more, this series is considered one of the most anticipated works in the second half of the year.

In the poster, Park Ji Hoon is seen with an indifferent expression and eyes containing full of stories raising expectations for the drama. In another poster, Park Ji Hoon is seen with lonely eyes and his hand holding a brick. The poster also has a caption stating, "I asked you to stop."

Wave's original drama 'Weak Hero Class 1' (hereinafter referred to as 'Weak Hero', directed and written by Yoo Su-min, production playlist, shortcake) is a drama in which Yeon Si-eun, a top 1% schoolboy, fights against numerous violence with Suho and Beom-seok, who became friends for the first time. “Twenty Five, Twenty One” Star Choi Hyun Wook Is A Loyal Ally To A Bullied Park Ji Hoon In “Weak Hero”

wavve’s upcoming drama “Weak Hero” has shared a sneak peek of Choi Hyun Wook in character!

 

Based on the hit webtoon of the same name, “Weak Hero” is an action school drama starring Park Ji Hoon as Yeon Si Eun, a model student who excels at school, but is physically frail—making him an easy target for bullies who are jealous of his top grades. Though Yeon Si Eun appears weak on the outside, he eventually uses his brain to win his battles as he fights back against the violence that unfolds both inside and outside of school.

 

Choi Hyun Wook, who shot to fame in the hit drama “Twenty Five, Twenty One” earlier this year, will be playing the role of Ahn Su Ho, one of Yeon Si Eun’s classmate. The free-spirited Ahn Su Ho doesn’t care much about school life, and he only attends to keep his promise to his beloved grandmother that he’d graduate with perfect attendance—but when he sees the seemingly weak Yeon Si Eun strategically fighting back against his bullies, he begins to take an interest in the fellow student and eventually approaches him.

 

When describing his character, Choi Hyun Wook summed up Ahn Su Ho as a “loyal fighter” who isn’t afraid to take a stand against unwarranted violence. As for why he was drawn to the role, the actor shared, “It’s a drama that deals with a realistic conflict that seems like it could happen in real life, and I also wanted to take on the challenge of action scenes for the first time.”

 

 

In newly released stills from the upcoming drama, Choi Hyun Wook transforms into an action star to play the tough and nimble Ahn Su Ho—but he also shows off an unexpectedly cute side as he rests his head on a pink pillow in the classroom.

 

“Su Ho, whose only goal is to graduate without any problems, works part-time every single day,” explained the actor, “so he pretty much just sleeps the entire time he’s at school. In order to sleep more comfortably, he carries around a pillow. But I thought that Su Ho might be the kind of person who unexpectedly likes cute things, so I chose a pink bunny pillow.”

 

 

However, as free-spirited and cute as Ahn Su Ho can be, the loyal warrior is as intimidating as can be once it’s time for a fight.
