Plot:

It is about the three Lee brothers, who grew old as part of a generation that avoids dating and marriage. In order to be the one who inherits their parents’ apartment, each of the brothers embark on a search to find a spouse. 

 

Note: This drama will air after “Young Lady and Gentleman”.

 

Main Cast:

Oh Min Seok as Lee Yoon Jae, is a dentist. He is a gentle person, but he is so strict and precise with himself that within five years of his opening his own dental clinic, it is already getting great reviews for painless treatment and not overcharging its patients. 

 

Yoon Shi Yoon as Lee Hyun Jae. Sandwiched between his older and younger brothers, he has a strong sense of survival. He transferred his skills at compromise and negotiation into becoming a glib-tongued lawyer with a gift for logic and a high success rate.

 

 

Bae Da Bin as Hyun Mi Rae, a personal shopper for VIPs. She hires him as her lawyer in a lawsuit she is filing to nullify her marriage, claiming that she is the victim of marriage fraud. Meeting as lawyer and client, the two of them learn each other’s embarrassing pasts.

 

Shin Dong Mi as Shim Hae Joon, a lawyer and the head of a law firm, who falls head over heels for Lee Yoon Jae. She visits the clinic after hearing of it from her junior partner, Lee Hyun Jae, but finds her lonely heart being moved instead.

 

Seo Bum June as Lee Soo Jae, who is studying for the civil service examination. All his life, he has faced comparisons to his brothers in terms of grades, but his optimism and strong self-love has never failed. In order to make spending money, he works part-time as a delivery truck loader. 

 

Choi Ye Bin as Na Yoo Na, a co-worker at the delivery truck service. She is saving money to pursue her dream of becoming a patissier, attending bakery school while juggling her part-time job.

KBS has shared the photos from the first script reading of its upcoming weekend drama, “Hyun Jae Is Beautiful” (literal translation)!

 

“Hyun Jae Is Beautiful” is about the three Lee brothers, who grew up as part of a generation that avoids dating and marriage. Their parents and grandfather scheme to get them married off by offering their valuable apartment to the brother who can bring home a spouse first.

 

The first script reading took place in November 2021 at the KBS office in Yeouido. In attendance were producing director (PD) Kim Sung Geun, writer Ha Myung Hee, and cast members Yoon Shi Yoon, Bae Da Bin, Oh Min Seok, Shin Dong Mi, Seo Bum June, Choi Ye Bin, Park In Hwan, Park Sang Won, Kim Hye Ok, Ban Hyo Jung, Park Ji Young, Byun Woo Min, Kim Kang Min, Sunwoo Yong Nyeo, Jung Heung Chae, Kim Ye Ryung, Cha Yeob, Hyun Jyoo Ni, and more.

 

Yoon Shi Yoon stars as the middle Lee brother, Lee Hyun Jae, who is a divorce lawyer. Bae Da Bin stars as Hyun Mi Rae, his client, who is seeking an annulment after getting caught up in a marriage fraud scheme. Although the two start out with a strictly business relationship, their own feelings keep hinting at something more.

 

Oh Min Seok stars as the eldest Lee brother, Lee Yoon Jae, who is a dentist. Shin Dong Mi co-stars as Shim Hae Joon, a lawyer. The two characters share a lovable back-and-forth relationship. Seo Bum June stars as the youngest Lee brother, Lee Soo Jae, who is preparing for the civil service exam. Choi Ye Bin co-stars as Na Yoo Na, who is preparing to enter the workforce. As the youngest couple on the show, they have a cute chemistry that earns the adoration of the adults around them.

 

 

Park In Hwan stars as Lee Kyung Chul, the patriarch of the Lee family. Sunwoo Yong Nyeo plays Lee Kyung Soon, his sister. Comically, the two are on such good terms that they’re often mistaken for husband and wife. Park Sang Won plays Lee Min Ho, Lee Kyung Chul’s adopted son and the father of the Lee brothers, and Kim Hye Ok plays Han Kyung Ae, his wife. Byun Woo Min and Park Ji Young play Hyun Jin Heon and Jin Soo Jung, Hyun Mi Rae’s parents.

 

 

At the end of the script reading, Park Sang Won spoke on behalf of the cast, saying, “‘Hyun Jae Is Beautiful’ is a traditional weekend drama of the kind that’s hard to see nowadays. It will be relatable to the viewers because it deals with themes like filial piety, which our society needs, family love, and marriage.”

 

The production staff stated, “When we were all gathered in the same place, we were able to create that boisterous atmosphere that is characteristic of family dramas. The actors’ immersion into their roles brought life to Ha Myung Hee’s honest and straightforward script. We will continue this great atmosphere on set as well and prepare a heartwarming and entertaining drama.”

 

 

“Hyun Jae Is Beautiful” will premiere after the end of “Young Lady and Gentleman” in April.
