Kim Min Ju And Kim Young Dae Are At The Center Of A Tragic Love Story In “The Forbidden Marriage”

MBC has shared a new look at Kim Young Dae and Kim Min Ju’s story in the new drama “The Forbidden Marriage.”

Based on the web novel of the same name, “The Forbidden Marriage” will star Kim Young Dae as King Yi Heon, who falls deep into despair after the death of his wife and ends up prohibiting marriage in his kingdom. Seven years after the loss of his wife (played by Kim Min Ju), who was then the crown princess, he comes across a con artist named So Rang (Park Ju Hyun) who claims that she can be possessed by the late princess’s spirit.

Kim Min Ju plays Crown Princess Ahn, who was chosen to be the crown princess unanimously at the age of 14 through an interview screening process. Crown Prince Yi Heon couldn’t help but fall in love with this beautiful and intelligent girl, but their love did not last long. A tragic incident tore the two apart, and the crown prince was left in agony to mourn the loss of his lover for seven years.

Their pure and passionate love can be seen in the newly released stills. Yi Heon can be seen smiling mischievously at Crown Princess Ahn as he holds out his pinky finger to her appearing to make a promise. Viewers get a glimpse of Yi Heon when he is not donning his stoic mask as the crown prince and eventual king, getting to see a very human side of the man who people fear and respect.

The other released stills are individual shots of Yi Heon and the crown princess, the mood contrasting sharply with the previous photo. Replacing their carefree smiles are looks of worry and pain, and one can’t help but wonder if these are meant to be warnings for the terrible tragedy that is to happen.

Park Ju Hyun, Choi Duk Moon, And Jung Bo Min Set Up A Risky Cafe For Love Counselling In “The Forbidden Marriage”

Park Ju Hyun, Choi Duk Moon, and Jung Bo Min will team up against an era of forbidden marriages in MBC’s upcoming drama!

Based on the web novel of the same name, “The Forbidden Marriage” will star Kim Young Dae as King Yi Heon, who falls deep into despair after the death of his wife and ends up prohibiting marriage in his kingdom. Seven years after the loss of his wife (played by IZ*ONE‘s Kim Min Ju), who was then the crown princess, he comes across a con artist named So Rang (Park Ju Hyun) who claims that she can be possessed by the late princess’ spirit.

“The Forbidden Marriage” has newly released stills of Park Ju Hyun as So Rang, along with Choi Duk Moon as Gwaeng Yi and Jung Bo Min as Hae Young. After seven years of travelling across the country together to help others get married, So Rang and Gwaeng Yi have finally settled down and set up “Aedaldang.” Similar to a tarot reading cafe in Joseon, Aedaldang is a tea house where young men and women go for advice on love. Here, So Rang and Gwaeng Yi are joined by Hae Young and the trio work excitedly as they aim to spark love in others.

As the hostess of Aedaldang, So Rang smiles brightly as she greets customers. So Rang impressively runs Aedaldang relying solely on her quick wit and way with words, sparking curiosity as to what lengths she’ll go to secretly help people find love in a generation where marriage is forbidden.

Choi Duk Moon portrays So Rang’s partner Gwaeng Yi, who may appear slightly naive and sloppy, but always surprises by working with such high spirits. As no one ever knows when Gwaeng Yi will say something magical next, his wild novelty is sure to have a heavy impact on Aedaldang. In his photo with So Rang, the two are fixated on something in the distance, raising questions about what it is that has caught their attention.

Aedaldang’s adorably bright and charming employee Hae Young will be played by Jung Bo Min. As someone who has never been in a relationship before, Hae Young is an avid fan of romance novels and is never caught without one in her hands. With these novels gradually creating higher and higher standards of men for Hae Young, stay tuned to see what kind of impact she’ll have on Aedaldang and whether she’ll be able to find true love.

The drama’s producers commented, “In ‘The Forbidden Marriage,’ the bold ideas of So Rang will be drawn out interestingly as she creates ‘Aedaldang’ to give love counselling to young men and women, rather than back down in an era of forbidden marriages. Please look forward to the chemistry and activity of actors Park Ju Hyun, Choi Duk Moon, and Jung Bo Min who will act as the characters So Rang, Gwaeng Yi, and Hae Young.”

Watch: King Kim Young Dae Meets His Match In Con Artist Park Ju Hyun In Fun Teaser For “The Forbidden Marriage”

MBC has shared an exciting new sneak peek of its upcoming drama “The Forbidden Marriage”!

Based on the web novel of the same name, “The Forbidden Marriage” will star Kim Young Dae as King Yi Heon, who falls deep into despair after the death of his wife and ends up prohibiting marriage in his kingdom. Seven years after the loss of his wife (played by IZ*ONE‘s Kim Min Ju), who was then the crown princess, he comes across a con artist named So Rang (Park Ju Hyun) who claims that she can be possessed by the late princess’s spirit.

The newly released preview begins with whispered rumors about the king’s sanity, with murmurs of “The king is a total madman” and “He’s gone completely insane.” Yi Heon then draws his sword and asks intimidatingly, “Do you also see me as a crazy tyrant?”

Although the caption introduces Yi Heon as a “crazy king who has prohibited marriage for seven years,” he winds up meeting his match in the unstoppable con artist So Rang, who bursts into the picture declaring confidently, “I’m back.” As someone describes her as “that famous marriage con artist of our time,” the buoyant So Rang boasts about all the illegal matches she’s made all over the country before insisting, “I won’t get caught!”

However, the teaser then immediately cuts to So Rang behind bars, suggesting that she might have been a bit too confident. As the caption teases that she will “shake up the entire nation with a lie that she started in order to survive,” So Rang pretends to be possessed by Yi Heon’s late wife in a hilariously desperate attempt at survival.

“The Forbidden Marriage” will premiere on December 9 at 9:50 p.m. KST. In the meantime, check out the new teaser below!

Park Ju Hyun, Kim Young Dae, And Kim Woo Seok Share Reasons To Look Forward To “The Forbidden Marriage”

Ahead of the premiere of “The Forbidden Marriage,” the cast sat down to talk about all of the reasons why people should be getting excited for the drama!

Based on the web novel of the same name, “The Forbidden Marriage” is a new drama starring Kim Young Dae as King Yi Heon, who falls deep into despair after the death of his wife and ends up prohibiting marriage in his kingdom. Seven years after the loss of his wife (played by IZ*ONE‘s Kim Min Ju), who was then the crown princess, he comes across a con artist named So Rang (Park Ju Hyun) who claims that she can be possessed by the late princess’s spirit.

Lead actors Park Ju Hyun, Kim Young Dae, and Kim Woo Seok each gave their thoughts on what they considered to be the drama’s most interesting points that will draw viewers in.

First, Park Ju Hyun described the drama’s setting as taking place during the Joseon Dynasty, but “a Joseon Dynasty on a different planet.” She further explained, “In keeping with the line of narration in the first episode that says, ‘There was a country called Joseon on another planet,’ [‘The Forbidden Marriage’] has a different atmosphere from other historical dramas. I hope the viewers can enjoy looking at that universe together with us.”

The chemistry between the characters is also something that viewers can look forward to seeing. Park Ju Hyun, Kim Young Dae, and Kim Woo Seok all show incredible synergy together no matter the combination. In terms of MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) types, So Rang is described as being “EEEE,” and viewers can definitely look forward to her meeting with Yi Heon, who is completely sincere when it comes to love. Another thing to look out for is the bromance between Yi Heon and Lee Shin Won (Kim Woo Seok), as well as So Rang’s quiet determination to protect those she loves.

Kim Young Dae noted, “The drama will be even more interesting if you pay attention to the relationships between So Rang, Yi Heon, and Lee Shin Won, who are all very unique characters, and how they become entangled with one another.”

Meanwhile, Kim Woo Seok commented, “While watching, I hope you’ll take an interest in what kind of feelings my character Lee Shin Won is harboring. It will be a drama where you can enjoy watching not only the process of the character of Lee Shin Won melting into the story, but also the pleasant story that unfolds with So Rang and Yi Heon.”

Based on the web novel of the same name, “The Forbidden Marriage” is a new drama starring Kim Young Dae as King Yi Heon, who falls deep into despair after the death of his wife and ends up prohibiting marriage in his kingdom. Seven years after the loss of his wife (played by Kim Min Ju), who was then the crown princess, he comes across a con artist named So Rang (Park Ju Hyun) who claims that she can be possessed by the late princess’s spirit.

On December 4, “The Forbidden Marriage” shared a character relationship chart highlighting the intriguing ties between the characters of “The Forbidden Marriage” including So Rang, Yi Heon, and Lee Shin Won (Kim Woo Seok).

The center of the chart draws attention to the relationship between So Rang, Yi Heon, and Lee Shin Won. Viewers are curious to find how matchmaker con artist So Rang, King Yi Heon, and Uigeumbu officer (member of the judiciary organ) Lee Shin Won have met despite their vastly different backgrounds and what stories will unfold involving them and the law.

The characters surrounding the three leads also raise questions. Linked to So Rang is the tea shop Aedaldang, which is described as a “place well-versed in love,” piquing interest in how Aedaldang will run in an era in which marriage is forbidden. In addition to So Rang, Aedaldang’s Gwaeng Yi (Choi Duk Moon) and Hae Young (Jung Bo Min) will also create interesting stories as they help young men and women looking for love.

Joseon’s single men Deok Hoon (Lee Jung Hyun), Wang Bae (Kim Min Seok), and Jung Do Seok (Hong Si Young) will also deliver a refreshing tale as they struggle to end the prohibition on marriage.

Furthermore, linked directly to King Yi Heon is the late Crown Princess Ahn, who is described to be Yi Heon’s “unforgettable love.” The group in opposition to King Yi Heon with Jo Sung Gyun (Yang Dong Geun) at the center will also fight fiercely against King Yi Heon’s support group consisting of Se Jang (Lee Hyun Geol), Won Nyeo (Hwang Jung Min), and more.

Seven years after the loss of his wife (played by IZ*ONE‘s Kim Min Ju), who was then the crown princess, he comes across a con artist named So Rang (Park Ju Hyun), who claims that she can be possessed by the late princess’s spirit.
