'Beautiful Man' is a work based on a popular work that achieved 150,000 readers on Kakao Page. It is based on a popular novel which is a mysterious play unfolded by former profiler Han Jun and his colleagues. New characters will be introduced, and the plot will be unraveled in a humorous way that sets it apart from the original web novel.

The original of 'Beautiful Namdang' is an attractive novel by Jeong Jae-han, who won the grand prize at the Kakao Page Mobile Novel Contest. It is a drama that tells the story of the suspicious cafe 'Minamdang' and the clients who came to it.

Character descriptions

 

Han Jae Hee is the violent crimes division’s team leader. She’s righteous, lighthearted, doesn’t hold grudges, and quirky, but she’s also sincere. After transferring to the violent crimes division, she has worked as a detective for three years. Although she doesn’t have many years of experience, she’s the team leader because she graduated from a police university.

 

Han Jae Hee (Oh Yeon Seo) is the violent crimes division’s team leader.  She is righteous, lighthearted, quirky, sincere, and doesn’t hold grudges. However, when something isn’t right, she often insults people regardless of status and even uses her firsts.

 

Gong Soo Chul (Kwak Si Yang) is Minamdang’s barista during the day and a violent crimes detective at night. Unlike his wild and rough appearance, Gong Soo Chul has a friendly and adorable personality. As a man of loyalty, he has great affection for former profiler and baksumudang Nam Han Joon, which will cause unexpected events to occur in the drama.

 

Nam Hye Joon (Kang Mina) is Nam Han Joon’s younger sister and an outstanding member of the National Intelligence Service. With her carefree and easy going personality, Nam Hye Joon is like a racing horse when it comes to getting revenge on those who act rudely or unfairly.

 

Cha Do Won ( Kwon Soo Hyun) is a prosecutor of the Western District Prosecutor’s Office. On top of being from an extremely wealthy family, Cha Do Won doesn’t lack anything from appearance, studies, and skills in arts and sports. Although he’s famous for being a multi-talented and righteous prosecutor, he hides a knife behind his friendly smile.

 

Jang Doo-jin (Jung Man sik) is a 15-year veteran of the gangster squad who, at one time, he made a name for himself by solving big cases based on his splendid connections, but now he is a person who endures day by day dreaming of winning the lottery.

Seo In Guk might be making a speedy return to the small screen!

On July 12, a source from the entertainment industry revealed that Seo In Guk will be starring as the protagonist of the new drama “Minamdang: Case Note” (literal title).

A source from Story J Company clarified to Newsen, “Seo In Guk has received a casting offer for ‘Minamdang: Case Note’ and is reviewing it.”

“Minamdang: Case Note” is based on a popular web novel of the same name by writer Jung Jae Han that was serialized on Kakao Page and won the grand prize at Kakao Page’s web novel contest. The novel follows the mysterious events experienced by the former profiler Han Joon and his colleagues.

The drama will tell the story of a suspicious café named Minamdang and the clients that visit the café. New characters will be introduced, and the plot will be unraveled in a humorous way that sets it apart from the original web novel.

According to Sports Chosun, the script will be written by screenwriter Park Hye Jin of the drama “Ruler: Master of the Mask” and the film “The Yellow Sea.” Filming will begin in October.

Seo In-gook up to play shaman after Doom at Your Service

Although it’s just been a few weeks since his last drama ended, actor Seo In-gook (Doom at Your Service) is already in talks for a new mystery action drama called Handsome Shaman: Case Diary.

 

The drama is based on a popular web novel by the same title and is centered around the role offered to Seo In-gook. Named Ha Joon, the character was once a profiler but now works as a shaman and runs a mysterious café. In what sounds like an episodic format, the story will follow the shaman as different customers come to visit the café and seek his services.

Deviating from the source material, however, the drama will introduce a new character to change up the dynamics — and it’s reported that a comedic element will unfold as a result.

 

Mystery drama Handsome Shaman: Case Diary is still in pre-production and a broadcasting station has not yet been announced. Scripts will be written by Park Hye-jin (The Yellow Sea, Ruler-Master of the Mask) and filming is set to begin this coming October.

On September 28, industry representatives reported that Oh Yeon Seo has chosen “Minamdang: Case Note” as her next project.

In response, a source from her agency SidusHQ commented, “Oh Yeon Seo has received an offer to star in ‘Minamdang: Case Note,’ and she is reviewing the offer.”

Seo In Guk and Oh Yeon Seo to lead the upcoming KBS drama "Minamdang: Case Note"

On November 16th it was confirmed that Seo In Guk and Oh Yeon Seo will be working together for the upcoming mystery comedy-drama "Minamdang: Case Note." The drama will be directed by Go Jae Hyun ("Player") and penned by screenwriter  Park Hye Jin ("The Emperor: Owner of the Mask"). 

"Minamdang: Case Note" is based on a popular web novel with the same name. It will revolve around a former profiler, a homicide detective, and the mysterious cafe Minandang. Seo In Guk will play the role of a former criminal profiler who became a shaman along with his colleagues. Oh Yeon Seo will play the role of Han Jae Hee, a third-year homicide detective. Actor Kwak Shi Yang will also reportedly join the drama. 

"Minamdang: Case Note" is set to start filming this year. The premiere of the drama will be in the first half of 2022 and it will exclusively air on KBS. 

 

This drama will be the second upcoming drama project of Seo In Guk. Aside from "Minamdang: Case Note," Seo In Guk will also lead the new MBC drama "Smoking Gun." The actor last starred in the 2021 drama "Doom at Your Service" with Park Bo Young, Lee Soo Hyuk, Kang Tae Oh, Shin Do Hyun, and SF9's Dawon.

On November 17th, it was confirmed that Kwak Shi Yang, Kang Mi Na, and Kwon Soo Hyun will be joining Seo In Guk and Oh Yeon Seo in the mystery comedy-drama "Minamdang: Case Note."

Seo In Guk has temporarily halted filming for his upcoming drama due to being diagnosed with COVID-19.

On March 29, Seo In Guk’s agency Story J Company announced, “Seo In Guk was diagnosed with COVID-19 today.”

According to his agency, Seo In Guk tested positive for COVID-19 on a self-test kit before a shoot for his new KBS drama “Minamdang” (romanized title), and he was later officially diagnosed with the virus at the hospital. The actor previously received three doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, and he is currently not exhibiting any particular symptoms.

Seo In Guk, Oh Yeon Seo, Kwak Si Yang, Kang Mina, And More Gather At Script Reading For Upcoming KBS Drama

KBS has released photos from the first script reading for “Minamdang” (romanized title)!

Based on the popular web novel of the same name, “Minamdang” is a comedy-mystery starring Seo In Guk as a fraudulent male shaman who used to be a profiler. Oh Yeon Seo stars as a detective in the violent crimes unit who is passionate about justice.

In addition to director Go Jae Hyun and writer Park Hye Jin, cast members at the reading included Seo In Guk, Oh Yeon Seo, Kwak Si Yang, Kwon Soo Hyun, Kang Mina, Jung Eun Pyo, Jung Man Sik, Hwang Woo Seul Hye, Jung Ha Joon, and Baek Seo Hoo.

As soon as the reading began, all the actors immediately immersed into their characters and showed off their impressive synchronization.

As Nam Han Joon, a former profiler and current shaman, Seo In Guk was able to moderate his gaze, voice tone, and breathing to perfectly portray his character. With his clever comments, he was able to make everyone laugh and bring energy to the atmosphere. Transforming into her role as detective Han Jae Hee, Oh Yeon Soo kept an incredible pace to showcase her character’s easygoing and refreshing charms.

 

Kwak Si Yang plays Gong Soo Chul, a barista at Minamdang. While he initially appears cold, Gong Soo Chul is a softie who speaks in dialect and Kwak Si Yang was able to make everyone laugh with his character’s surprising charms. Kang Mina plays Nam Han Joon’s younger sister Nam Hye Joon and the two showed off their incredibly realistic sibling banter. Nam Hye Joon is free-spirited and energetic with a hidden brainiac side. Kwon Soo Hyun portrayed detective Cha Do Won’s mysterious image, who is the perfect combination of cold and warm.

Jung Eun Pyo plays down-to-earth police chief Kim Chul Geun, while Hwang Woo Seul Hye takes on the role of Lee Min Kyung, a “bulldozer-like” VVIP customer of Minamdang. Baek Seo Hoo plays the handsome and lovable Jonathan whose personality is quite bizarre. Jung Man Sik and Jung Ha Joon play detectives who work alongside Han Jae Hee in the violent crimes unit.
