Teaser trailer for KBS2 drama “Cafe Minamdang”

First teaser trailer added for KBS2 drama series “Cafe Minamdang” starring Seo In-Guk & Oh Yeon-Seo. The drama series is based on novel “Minamdang Sagun Soochub” by Jung Jae-Han and follows a former criminal profiler, who now pretends to be a fortune teller (Seo In-Guk). The fortune teller and a detective, played by Oh Yeon-Seo, begin to work together. Captions in the teaser trailer states (0:02) “Never seen before,” (0:06) “Intense and exhilarating,” (0:11) “Here comes the male shaman!”

“Cafe Minamdang” will first air June 27, 2022 in South Korea (takes over KBS2’s Monday & Tuesday 9:30 PM time slot after “Bloody Heart“).

Plot Synopsis by AsianWiki: Nam Han-Joon (Seo In-Guk) is a former criminal profiler, who now works as a fraudster. For his scams, he disguises himself as a fortune teller and runs the fortune teller shop Minamdang. He attracts customers with his attractive physical appearance and smooth talking skills. He scams his customers for money, but he also gets involved in their cases and helps solve them. He even provides customer service for his clients. Nam Han-Joon’s partners are Soo-Cheol and Nam Hye-Joon. Soo-Cheol runs a private detective agency and Nam Hye-Joon is Nam Han-Joon’s younger sister. She is an elite hacker.

Han Jae-Hee (Oh Yeon-Seo) has worked as a detective for 3 years. She is enthusiastic about her job and tries to follow a righteous path. Somehow, Han Jae-Hee gets involved with Nam Han-Joon.

KBS2’s upcoming drama “Café Minamdang” shared a new sneak peek of the show!

Based on the popular web novel of the same name, “Café Minamdang” is a comedy-mystery starring Seo In Guk as Nam Han Joon, a fraudulent male shaman who used to be a profiler. Oh Yeon Seo stars as Han Jae Hee, a detective in the violent crimes unit who is passionate about justice.

The newly released stills preview the first meeting of a new detective team. In addition to Han Jae Hee, who chases after a case she is interested in until the bitter end, there is Jang Doo Jin (Jang Man Shik), a veteran violent crimes detective who has been working in the field for 15 years and has a warm heart despite his outward appearance. The team also consists of Kim Sang Hyeop (Heo Jae Ho), who is passionate but clumsy, and the cheerful and adorable rookie detective Na Gwang Tae (Jung Ha Joon).

At the police station, Han Jae Hee wears a steady gaze and appears to be a level-headed character. Jang Doo Jin looks surprised and subdued by her appearance due to the rumors surrounding her. Meanwhile, Kim Sang Hyeop is teary eyed as he looks at Han Jae Hee, raising questions about the upcoming meeting. Unlike the senior detectives, rookie detective Na Gwang Tae is the only one smiling brightly, changing the heavy atmosphere. Viewers wonder how the new team will be able to successfully work together after such a memorable first meeting.

 

More stills also capture Seo In Guk’s transformation into Nam Han Joon, a stylish shaman with a silver tongue. Along with Nam Han Joon, the photos also introduce his younger sister Nam Hye Joon (Kang Mina), a former National Intelligence Service (NIS) employee who is a genius hacker. Nam Hye Joon is spontaneous to the extent that she suddenly quit her job at the NIS to become a professional gamer, but she helps her older brother run Café Minamdang.

In the stills, Nam Han Joon and Nam Hye Joon give off similar intelligent vibes as they immerse themselves into their work. Another hilarious picture depicts Nam Hye Joon wearing an empty expression on her face while getting carried away by Nam Han Joon and Gong Soo Chul (Kwak Si Yang), another café employee. Although Nam Han Joon and Nam Hye Joon will bicker like realistic siblings, they will also showcase great problem solving teamwork and subtly take care of each other in affectionate ways.

Seo In Guk talked about his upcoming KBS 2TV drama “Café Minamdang”!

Based on the popular web novel of the same name, “Café Minamdang” is a comedy-mystery starring Seo In Guk as Nam Han Joon, a fraudulent male shaman who used to be a profiler. Oh Yeon Seo stars as Han Jae Hee, a detective in the violent crimes unit who is passionate about justice.

Seo In Guk will be taking on the role of Nam Han Joon who has extraordinary fortune and a silver tongue. Despite his tendency to bluff, he can’t be disliked, and he is both cool and meticulous when working.

In the newly released photos, Seo In Guk makes a fashionable transformation into Nam Han Joon, and he’s spotted wearing a trendy coat, wine-colored suit, and sleek turtleneck sweater. He shoots a sly smile that naturally draws attention, and drama fans can look forward to Seo In Guk’s high synchronization rate with Nam Han Joon.

On his first impression of the drama, Seo In Guk shared, “When I first saw the script for ‘Café Minamdang,’ it was fresh. The processes that the former profiler and current fraudulent shaman went through to solve cases were ingenious and amusing.”

Concerning Nam Han Joon, the actor remarked, “It was refreshing how he pretended to be a shaman to solve the cases, and I was even more attracted [to this character] because he owned a variety of emotions and shameless aspects.”

He added, “Nam Han Joon is clumsy and humane because he’s not a real shaman. I studied a lot to perfectly embody his bewitching speech, but I also tried to show his friendliness from time to time.”

Seo In Guk described “Café Minamdang” as a “fan,” explaining, “Just like a fan that’s needed in hot weather, ‘Café Minamdang’ will come with a cool story in the hot summer, so please look forward to it.”

“Café Minamdang” will premiere on June 27 following the conclusion of “Bloody Heart.”

Shaman Seo In-gook serves coffee and justice in Cafe Minamdang

We’ve been treated to a steady stream of stills from KBS for the upcoming Cafe Minamdang, which features our ragtag team of heroes: Seo In-gook (Doom at Your Service), Oh Yeon-seo (Mad for Each Other), Kwak Shi-yang (IDOL: The Coup), Kwon Soo-hyun (Crime Puzzle), and Kang Mina (Moonshine).

 

The comedy-mystery stars Seo In-gook as the once criminal profiler Nam Han-joon. On the surface, he changed his career path completely by becoming a shaman and opening up a coffee shop that offers fortune telling services. But his end goal remains the same. He and his team are always striving to help their customers, fulfilling their requests to right wrongs, and fighting for justice in their own creative ways.

Oh Yeon-seo plays detective Han Jae-hee, who came to know Seo In-gook through a mysterious incident two years back, and the two have been bickering since. Passionate and stubborn, once she takes on a case, she needs to see it through to the end — whatever it takes.

 

Meanwhile, Kwak Shi-yang’s character, Gong Su-cheol, is pulling double duty. Out of loyalty to Seo In-gook, he works as a barista at Seo’s cafe during the day. But at night, he goes back to his detective job, where he works with Oh Yeon-seo in the violent crimes unit.

Kwon Soo-hyun, on the other hand, is the principled prosecutor Cha Do-won. It’s unclear if he’s friend or foe, since his smiles are described as friendly but chilling. However, we’re told that he somehow gets involved with the Minamdang crew and that he has a crush on one of the characters.

Last but not least, Kang Mina takes on the role of hacker Nam Hye-joon, Seo In-gook’s younger sister. She used to work for the NIS, but quit on a whim, wanting to become a professional gamer instead. She then starts helping Seo with his cafe and eventually becomes part of the Minamdang team.

 

Written by Park Hye-jin (Ruler – Master of the Mask) and directed by PD Go Jae-hyun (Will You Have Dinner With Me), Cafe Minamdang is currently set to premiere June 27, following Red Heart in the Monday-Tuesday slot, and will be available internationally on Netflix. However, in light of recent production disputes, the debut may be delayed.

Oh Yeon Seo Describes Her “Café Minamdang” Role, What Drew Her To The Drama, And More

Oh Yeon Seo has teased her role in “Café Minamdang” while also expressing affection and excitement for the upcoming drama!

Based on the popular web novel of the same name, KBS2’s “Café Minamdang” is a comedy-mystery starring Seo In Guk as Nam Han Joon, a fraudulent male shaman who used to be a profiler. Oh Yeon Seo stars as Han Jae Hee, a detective in the violent crimes unit who is passionate about justice.

Regarding why she chose to star in “Café Minamdang,” Oh Yeon Seo explained that this was her first time portraying a detective. She added, “The plot in itself was incredibly fun and the charms of Nam Han Joon, a profiler who pretends to be a shaman, and Han Jae Hee, who stops at nothing for justice, felt refreshing.”

She continued about her character Han Jae Hee, “At first, she may appear a bit mysterious, but once you get to know her, she’s an incredibly honest, bold, and cool character. Even while reading the script I thought, ‘This person is really cool.’ She’s cool and aloof and I tried to capture her accurate action angles on screen.”

 

 

To prepare for her first-ever detective role, Oh Yeon Seo shared, “I looked up a lot of videos of real-life detectives and I received a lot of advice from Jung Man Shik.” She continued, “The action scenes were surprisingly fun. I think I’ve found something I have an aptitude for.”

Oh Yeon Seo described “Café Minamdang” as a surprise box, explaining, “Just like how you don’t know what a surprise box will contain when you open it, when you open ‘Café Minamdang,’ it’s full of various stories that are funny, have to do with humans living life, and more.

On the other hand, Han Jae Hee stands beside the folding screen with a serious look on her face, increasing anticipation for the teamwork of people who are incredibly different from each other.
