tvN’s upcoming drama “Murderer’s Shopping List” (literal translation) has finalized its starring cast!

On November 26, the producers of the drama officially announced, “Lee Kwang Soo, Kim Seolhyun, and Jin Hee Kyung have been cast as the three leads.”

Based on the novel of the same name by Kang Ji Young, “Murderer’s Shopping List” is a comedy-mystery thriller about an ordinary neighborhood on the outskirts of Seoul. When a mysterious body is found in the vicinity of an apartment building, a supermarket receipt becomes a key piece of evidence that kicks off an entertaining hunt for the killer.

Lee Kwang Soo will star in the drama as Ahn Dae Sung, the son of supermarket owner Jung Myung Sook (to be played by Jin Hee Kyung). Although he was once a genius with impressive memorization skills, his life takes a turn for the worse due to an incident that takes place at his mom’s market when he is 10 years old.

Jin Hee Kyung stars as Jung Myung Sook, the supermarket owner and Ahn Dae Sung’s fearless mother. She has a lot of love and affection for her incompetent but handsome husband and her foolish but endearing son.

The first stills from the drama show Lee Kwang Soo and Seolhyun, the latter in police uniform, as they patrol their little neighborhood at night looking for clues about the murder.

 

 

The director of “The Killer’s Shopping List,” Lee Eon Hee, also gave an interview about what to look forward to in the drama. She said, “If I were to sum this drama up, I’d say it will remind you of your local supermarket. As I started this drama, I started paying more attention to local supermarkets. The drama contains events that could happen at any of your corner supermarkets. That’s why families, friends, everyone can watch it together and relate to it in a meaningful way.”

Director Lee Eon Hee clarified that this is not a drama about a huge supermarket chain but rather a supermarket that is small enough for one person to operate on their own. For filming, they used a real supermarket that had closed down operations. The idea of the drama is that although customers don’t really pay much attention to the people who work at the supermarket, the workers are aware of the customers who come in day after day. Based on the customers’ purchases, these grocery store workers could know a customer better than their own families or friends. A supermarket also contains items that you can use at any time, but these will be used in unexpected ways in the drama.

“When you think about buying a murder weapon at the local grocery store, you might think of a knife,” the director said, “but you can also kill someone with wooden chopsticks. I wanted to show the diverse stories contained in the unexpected elements to be found in locations that we’re all familiar with.”

About working with Lee Kwang Soo, Seolhyun, and Jin Hee Kyung, she said, “Ahn Dae Sung is a very unique character, so I needed an actor that I had a lot of confidence in. I worked with Lee Kwang Soo in ‘The Accidental Detective 2: In Action,’ and I knew that he was a good person. Because of his approachable image in ‘Running Man,’ he was able to make Dae Sung into a lovable character no matter what he did.”

She went on, “Ever since I saw Seolhyun as a Nike model, I wanted to work with her as an actor. Every time she appears on screen, it’s like it gets brighter.” She added, “Jin Hee Kyung has played a lot of chaebol roles, but this time she’s an easygoing and refreshing lifelike character. She is a strong woman who leads her family and her employees. Once I cast her, she turned out to be quite similar to the tall Lee Kwang Soo, so they really were like family.”

“The Killer’s Shopping List” will air sometime in the first half of 2022.

Actress Moon Hee-kyung will appear in the drama 'A Murderer's Shopping List'.

According to YTN Star coverage on the 26th, Moon Hee-kyung plans to play the role of Yang Soon, her daughter-in-law, in the new tvN drama 'The Murderer's Shopping List'.

 Previously, actors Lee Kwang-soo, Kim Seol-hyun, Jin Hee-kyung, and Shin Sung-woo announced the casting news, raising expectations that Moon Hee-kyung and her synergy would be radiated.

 

Moon Hee-kyung is currently appearing in Kakao TV's original 'No, Thank You 2'. Actress Moon Hee Kyung will be added to the cast members of the upcoming tvN drama "The Murderer's Shopping List."

On January 26th media outlets shared that Moon Hee Kyung will be joining the upcoming drama "The Murderer's Shopping List" led by Lee Kwang Soo and AOA's Kim Seol Hyun. 

"The Murderer's Shopping List" will be adapted from the novel of the same name by Kang Ji Young.  The story will center around the crime that happened in an apartment on the outskirts of Seoul. A mysterious body was found and the only concrete evidence is a mart receipt from MS Mart. 

Lee Kwang Soo will be playing the role of Ahn Dae Song, the cashier in MS Mart owned by her mother. Kim Seol Hyun will play the role of Do Ah Hee, a patrol police officer. Moon Hee Kyung will portray the role of Yang Soo, the chairman of the women's association.

Other cast members of the drama include Jin Hee Kyung, Shin Sung Woo, Park Ji Bin, and Oh Hye Won.  

"The Murderer's Shopping List" will reportedly air on tvN in the first half of 2022. 

 

 

Moon Hee Kyung was part of the recently ended drama "Show Window: The Queen's House." She is also starring in the ongoing series "No, Thank You Season 2" with Park Ha Sun, Kwon Yool, Kim Jong Goo, Jo Wan Ki, and Baek Eun Hye.  

The actress has starred in several dramas such as "Hospital Playlist 2," "No, Thank You," "Graceful Family," "Because This Is My First Life," "Woman of Dignity," "You're All Surrounded," "49 Days," "IRIS," and more.

Moon Hee Kyung is not only an actress but also a trot singer. The actress released a trot album this month.
