Kim Ok-bin and Yoo Teo Love to Hate You

There are a lot of love-hate/hate-love dynamics happening in dramaland right now, and Netflix’s upcoming rom-com series Love to Hate You (previously Love War) is next in line. I have to scratch my head for a second, though, because this looks like a 100% predictable mainstream rom-com — not what we have come to expect from Netflix.

The cast is also interesting, with Kim Ok-bin (Dark Hole) and Yoo Teo (Dr. Brain) in the lead, and Kim Ji-hoon, Lee Joo-bin (both in Money Heist: Korea), and Go Won-hee (Revolutionary Sisters) supporting. From the fact that this is a lesser know and not-25-year-old cast, to the drama is being promoted as a “romantic healing” story, I’m definitely wondering what got into Netflix’s beverage.

The story itself is trope heaven: a popular heartthrob actor who doesn’t trust women, a competitive attorney who hates losing to men, a fake dating contract between them, animosity that hides attraction — basically, you name it, and it’s there. The drama’s trailer paints the picture for us, setting up a pretty humorous tone that makes me feel like I’m watching a drama from several years back. (That will either be the best or the worst thing about it.) As can be expected, when our at-odds couple have to fake being lovey dovey, things start to escalate, and the logic of the heart takes over once again.

That’s our main story line, but I’m actually most excited about our supporting cast, because, uh, Kim Ji-hoon? He shouldn’t be relegated to the hero’s sounding board as a talent agency CEO, but we’ll take it. And then there’s Go Won-hee, whom I’ve been a fan of for ages now. She plays our heroine’s bestie and housemate, and she’s everything our heroine is not. She also falls in love at first sight with Kim Ji-hoon’s character and tries to win him over. And I don’t know about you, but I might want to see that storyline more than the main leads throwing (literal and figurative) punches. At any rate, the whole crew will be coming to our screens quite soon.

Netflix has shared a sneak peek of its upcoming drama “Love to Hate You”!

“Love to Hate You” is a romantic comedy about a woman, who desperately hates losing to men, and a man, who is extremely suspicious of women, experiencing war-like love and healing in the processs.

The newly released main poster features Yeo Mi Ran (Kim Ok Bin), Nam Kang Ho (Yoo Tae Oh), Do Won Jun (Kim Ji Hoon), and Shin Na Eun (Go Won Hee) who appear to be checking on one another.

Attorney Yeo Mi Ran, who moved to a law firm in charge of celebrity litigation, meets Nam Kang Ho, a top actor in the romance genre. The two, who have misunderstandings about the opposite sex, bicker with each other from their first encounter. The relationship between Mi Ran and Kang Ho, who regard each other as a pain in the neck, gets twisted, resulting in them dating each other for their own reasons.

Director Kim Jung Kwon who is in charge of filming remarked, “I paid attention to the points where Mi Ran’s and Kang Ho’s emotions build up, such as when Mi Ran starts to open up as she sees Kang Ho’s consistent side and when Kang Ho is attracted to Mi Ran for her honesty.” Anticipation is high for “Hate to Love You” which will tell the sweet and sour romance story of a man and woman who are attracted to each other despite being opposites.

Upcoming Netflix series “Love to Hate You” is a romantic comedy following a war-like romance between a woman who desperately hates losing to men, and a man who is extremely suspicious of women, that kicks off their joint healing journey,

Kim Ok Bin stars as Yeo Mi Ran, a lawyer who’s been let down by men all throughout her life, including her father, ex-boyfriend, and co-worker. As someone who detests the saying that women need to be protected by men, Yeo Mi Ran does everything in her power to become stronger in her career, but also in racing and martial arts to become her own bodyguard. The actress shared love for her new role, explaining that she was drawn to Yeo Mi Ran because of their similarities.

When Yeo Mi Ran moves to a law firm in charge of celebrity litigation, she meets top star Nam Kang Ho, who is played by Yoo Tae Oh. After studying abroad, Nam Kang Ho returns to Korea and debuts as an actor. He quickly skyrockets to success and cements his spot at the top with his shining good looks, smarts, donations, and good deeds. Although he’s considered the best romance actor, Nam Kang Ho has developed a distaste for women due to childhood trauma and thus prefers starring in action roles. Despite that, Yoo Tae Oh still teased the drama’s love story by saying, “If there’s something I have in common with Nam Kang Ho, it’s that we’re both good at romance acting.”

"Love to Hate You" is a romantic comedy that tells the story of Yeo Mi Ran (Kim Ok Bin) - a rookie attorney who hates losing to men - and Nam Kang Ho (Yoo Teo) - a top actor who is also the king of romance in the entertainment industry. When unfortunate circumstances force the two to date each other, chaos ensues.

The Netflix character trailer portrays Mi Ran as a tough woman who can even take down gangsters on her own. She says, "I am usually tough on bullies and soft on the weak". She gets entangled with the superstar Nam Kang Ho, who is a misogynist, in a three-month contract relationship for 100 million won.

The drama also stars Kim Ji Hoon and Go Won Hee in the main roles, and Lee Joo Bin and Kim Sung Ryung in the supporting roles, among others. "Love to Hate You" is a relatively short drama with only 10 episodes in it.

Meets the leads of Netflix’s Love to Hate You

by missvictrix

love6.jpg

With Netflix’s new rom-com series Love to Hate You headed our way in two weeks, we have character teasers to give us a taste of the enemies-to-lovers hjinks ahead.

The “romantic healing” series stars Kim Ok-bin (Dark Hole) and Yoo Teo (Dr. Brain) in the lead, with Go Won-hee (Revolutionary Sisters), Kim Ji-hoon, and Lee Joo-bin (both of Money Heist: Korea) supporting. I’ve waxed poetic about our supporting cast already, so it’s time to focus on the character teasers and our leads.

In our first teaser we learn all about our cynical actor-hero Kang-ho (Yoo Teo). He’s known as a heartthrob and “God of Romance”… but behind the scenes, he’s cringing at the scripts he’s acting out. When his boss/friend/manager (Kim Ji-hoon) encourages the fake dating contract with our heroine, though, everything starts to change.

Through the quick cuts of the trailer we see that our heroine is different from the other women clinging to him, and that something that was frozen in him is now thawing. Okay, I wasn’t exactly feeling this romance much, but it got a little heart-fluttery at the end there!

Watch: Kim Ok Bin And Yoo Tae Oh Kick Off A Complicated Contract Relationship Despite Their Bad Blood In New “Love To Hate You” Teasers

Jan 30, 2023
by S. Cho

Netflix has dropped a cute couple poster of Kim Ok Bin and Yoo Tae Oh for “Love to Hate You,” as well as intriguing new character teasers!

“Love to Hate You” is a romantic comedy following a war-like romance between a woman who desperately hates losing to men, and a man who is extremely suspicious of women, that kicks off their joint healing journey.

Kim Ok Bin stars as Yeo Mi Ran, a lawyer who’s been let down by men all throughout her life, including her father, ex-boyfriend, and co-worker. As someone who detests the saying that women need to be protected by men, Yeo Mi Ran does everything in her power to become stronger both physically and in her career.

When Yeo Mi Ran moves to a law firm in charge of celebrity litigation, she meets top actor Nam Kang Ho, who is played by Yoo Tae Oh. Although he’s considered the best romance actor, Nam Kang Ho has developed a distaste for women due to childhood trauma and thus prefers starring in action roles.

Despite their hesitations towards the opposite gender, Yeo Mi Ran and Nam Kang Ho look happy in a sweet couple poster. However, their anxiety toward love is captured in the poster caption that reads, “Please don’t let me fall in love.”

Love-to-hate-you.jpeg

The new character teasers also dive deeper into the individual stories of Yeo Mi Ran and Nam Kang Ho as they get tied up in an unlikely romance. Yeo Mi Ran’s teaser starts with a display of her strength as someone she injures ends up hospitalized for six weeks. Her best friend Shin Na Eun (Go Won Hee) is shocked to see this on the news and immediately calls up Yeo Mi Ran to ask with an exasperated tone, “Your full-time job is being a female gangster, right? And being a lawyer is your side gig?”

Once Nam Kang Ho gets an understanding of Yeo Mi Ran’s aggressive tendencies, she explains herself saying, “I’m tough against the powerful and weak against the weak.”

This mindset carries into Yeo Mi Ran’s love life as she firmly tells her friend that she must be suspicious of all men. She angrily says of Nam Kang Ho, “He’s a misogynist who thinks all women are prostitutes!” She details her desire to find evidence and ruin his career, but then changes her mind. Quickly catching on to Yeo Mi Ran’s ulterior motive, her friend asks, “You have a target, right?”

The deal that causes a shift in Yeo Mi Ran’s mind is a contract that gives her 100 million won (approximately $81,300) in exchange for publicly dating Nam Kang Ho for three months. As this is an ultimate compromise of Yeo Mi Ran’s values, Shin Na Eun confiscates the contract, but Yeo Mi Ran only responds with a gleeful giggle.

As news of their relationship hits the public, Yeo Mi Ran and Nam Kang Ho’s real relationship experiences a change as they slowly start to fall for one another. She understands his charm as a top romance actor, but remains confident in her ability to not be swayed by him.

Watch: (G)I-DLE’s Miyeon And Yuqi Sing “Sweet Dream” For “Love To Hate You” In New OST MV/Teaser

Netflix’s “Love to Hate You” has released a special clip that doubles as a teaser and music video featuring (G)I-DLE’s Miyeon and Yuqi!

“Love to Hate You” is a romantic comedy following a war-like romance between a woman who desperately hates losing to men, and a man who is extremely suspicious of women, that kicks off their joint healing journey.

Kim Ok Bin stars as Yeo Mi Ran, a lawyer who’s been let down by men all throughout her life. As someone who detests the idea that women need to be protected by men, Yeo Mi Ran does everything in her power to become stronger both physically and in her career. When Yeo Mi Ran moves to a law firm in charge of celebrity litigation, she meets top actor Nam Kang Ho (Yoo Tae Oh), who is considered the best romance actor despite his childhood trauma and resulting distaste for women.

The new special MV is for “Love to Hate You” OST “Sweet Dream,” which is performed by (G)I-DLE’s Miyeon and Yuqi. In the MV/teaser, Miyeon and Yuqi are shown recording the song alongside glimpses of Yeo Mi Ran and Nam Kang Ho’s budding relationship.

At the beginning of the video, Yeo Mi Ran is diligently filming an intense action scene and showing off her impeccable knife-throwing aim. After she hits both targets, the cast and crew watching erupt into cheers.

While Yeo Mi Ran adapts to her new workplace, she constantly gets tied up with Nam Kang Ho and keeps having to flaunt her strength. Although they get off to a pretty rocky start, their relationship undergoes a dramatic change when Yeo Mi Ran signs up to be in a contract relationship with Nam Kang Ho. Their romantic antics start off as part of an act, but they naturally begin to develop a real bond.

However, the teaser hilariously ends before their relationship becomes anything truly romantic. Once he drives up to Yeo Mi Ran’s house, Nam Kang Ho holds out his arm to gently wake her up, then randomly decides to violently shake her awake. Confused and disoriented, Yeo Mi Ran gives him a quick, “goodnight” before scurrying off.

Kim Ok-bin "First Comic" Yoo Tae-oh "Practice 100 times"... Pleasant contrast 'Love War'

2023020880112_0.jpg

On the 8th, the production presentation of the Netflix series 'Love War' was held at CGV Yongsan I'Park Mall in Seoul, and actors Kim Ok-bin, Yoo Tae-oh, Kim Ji-hoon, and director Kim Jeong-kwon attended. 'Love War' is a romantic comedy series in which a woman who morbidly hates losing to a man and a man who is morbidly suspicious of women undergo warlike love and are healed.

Kim Ok-bin takes on the role of Yeo Mi-ran, a lawyer who morbidly hates losing to men. She shows not only romance, but also comical action and cute dance. Director Kim Jeong-kwon also asked for expectations, saying, "Please look forward to Kim Ok-bin's breakdown." As if to prove this, Kim Ok-bin showed off her dance in 'Love Daejeon' and drew applause from everyone. She expressed hersatisfaction, "I really practiced a lot. The day before the shoot, I even asked my younger brother to take a picture of it. I choreographed it for about two weeks and practiced at what timing to look at it. I think I danced well."

2023020880112_1.jpg

Teo Yoo plays Nam Kang-ho, a top star who is morbidly suspicious of women. Yoo Tae-oh, who was cast by director Kim Jeong-kwon with the idea that he was "the most handsome actor on earth," prepared Nam Kang-ho with the thought, "What if Jjang-goo grew up and became a top star?" He explained the reason for joining, saying, "Because non-typical characters collide in the traditional romantic comedy genre, I felt a lot of charm in that contrast. After the first meeting with the director, I felt confident that I could trust and entrust it."

As much as it challenges a romantic comedy, it is important to have a unique taste in words. To this end, Teo Yoo repeated over 100 times over a scene and put the taste of words in his mouth. Tae-oh Yoo said, "I went to an announcer academy to study Korean, and I also went to an acting academy, and I still receive coaching. It seems that there is only practice. I think it's key,” he said, “I tried to fill a scene at least a hundred times. When the words stick to my mouth, I add nuances. I fix the accent, then learn the behavior.

2023020880112_2.jpg

It is a great work to see two people who change from antagonism to love. The chemistry was so extraordinary that Kim Ok-bin recalled the time of filming, saying, “The set was so enjoyable that I wanted to go back.” Yoo Tae-oh said, "Kim Ok-bin was a very veteran actor. She prepared very hard even for the dancing scene. From the character's point of view, romance begins with misunderstandings and understanding each other. I also felt overwhelmed because I had prepared a lot. . It was so cool,” he praised the other actor.

Kim Ji-hoon played Do Won-joon, a management representative and genius with the face of misfortune, a failure as an actor. After Kim Ji-hoon was cast, the production team was delighted. Writer Choi Soo-young talked with Kim Ji-hoon and also corrected Do Won-joon's character. Kim Ji-hoon said, "The thing I cared about the most was the realistic character. The relationship between Nam Kang-ho and Yeo Mi-ran is so interesting and attractive, but there are fantasy or dramatic parts. I thought that someone needed to take on a realistic role to bring out the taste. . I talked a lot with the writer about that part,” he said, even foretelling a unique collaboration with his co-star Ko Won-hee.

Spoiler

2023020880112_3.jpg

Director Kim Jeong-kwon, who was in charge of directing, made his debut in 2000 with the movie 'Sympathy'. At that time, 'Sympathy' selected Yoo Ji-tae and Kim Ha-neul, and is still talked about as the bible of romance movies. And he combines different genres of action and romance through 'Love War'. He said, “My debut work was ‘Sympathy. I wanted it to be a romance. Different men and women communicate through action practice, then come to understand and respect each other, and I paid special attention to that part," he explained.
