The mystery about Mu Young became more interesting. Why Hong Joo said that he never thought he came back alive?

 

And Mu Young from the future is leaving in the woods. So where is the Mu Young from 1938?I thought he was strange when he made the coffin.

I still don`t know why Mu young came to 1938 but I can`t wait to find out.

 

The scene in the end when Shin Joo found Lee Yeon and Lee Rang was emotional. I am happy for him.

 

If Mu young 2020 was in the woods, preparing a coffin that mean that he knew that the creature Three Worms will be at that beauty pagent. He was waiting outside with the coffin to catch it. Why? He want to transform her in Yacha (a stronger monster?) Again why? He needs monsters in his control? He knew it will be that event and it had nothing to do with Lee Yeon. He replaced Hong Joo in the last moment.

 

I was surprised to find out that both Japanese officers (chief of Police and his right arm ) are powerful monsters. I think my theory that Hong Joo fought the mosters and lost is again plausible for me, that Mu Young came to save her. I will see if I will think the same after watching the next episodes.

The theme of brotherhood has an additional twist with Mu Young’s past…  Yeon really be ‘killing’ multiple people he cared about in the past ha! He has made so many enemies that way. The scene with child Mu Young and his own brother carrying him on his back reminded me of Yeon and Rang. 
 

I really enjoy the humor! 
1) Shin Ju getting drugged by the ‘beggars’ lol, so glad he finally reunited with Yeon

2) Ofc they need a scene between Rang and the love interest (cute), but does he really not know how to tie a necktie when he can fight and tie knots at the same time?

3) The banter between Yeon and Hong Joo is soooo entertaining, I love her!!

4) Yeon solving problems with his phone haha, I wonder when the battery will die

 

I can already tell I’m going to be very sad when Yeon eventually leaves his brother again for a final time. It’s a bit of a copout, but the writers explained it—nothing Yeon does in the past will affect the events of the future. Well, at least that’s one plot hole solved.

That makes sense! I wonder how many years passed between Yeon’s 1938 events and Rang’s reincarnation bike scene since that kid looked at least 7 years old.

Rang is known for shapeshifting but I think we haven’t seen it yet. Maybe as a half human he isn’t as magical as the others. But he seems to be like Shin Ju who is also a fox; they have a bit more superhuman strength and speed.

I dropped season 1 because I couldn't stand the love story/FL. But I read recaps/comments and watched the last ep.  From the preview the writers took what I think was the best parts of season 1 - the action and brothers and doubled down. 

 

I watched the first two episodes, and I am loving it. Some highlights:

 

Lee Yeon being embarrassed with his past self
The fight scenes
Lee Rang holding a puppy
All Shin Ju's scenes - especially the reunion
Love Hong Ju

 

I hate that the time travel doesn't affect the future. Like does that mean that when Lee Yeon goes back Lee Rang forgets everything? I feel like the writers won't explain how it happens and just wants the "nothing you do affects anything" to be a blanket statement that just explains away everything. 

 

Does it mean the people demon's that future Lee Yeon kill, don't actually die? Like the turtle from episode 1.

I have the  same thought. I hate that they mentioned this just to easy resolve other issues of time travel but it doesn`t make any sense. Of course that it will have some changes. Every action has consequences, good or bad. I just hoping that it was just a lie that Taluipa said to Lee Yeon to not put extra pressure on him. Perhaps that it won`t effect some major events but It will have changes. Then why Mu Young did something so extreme to go in the past if he can`t change anything?

I`ve already liked Hong Joo from the synopsis but I wanted to see how it will be on screen. I totally love her. So far it is everything how I have imagined her.

I really wanted the obsessing with Lee Yeon to not be serious and be treated lightly and I got it. Their banter is funny. They are old friends anyway. I totally understand that he is annoyed and be far away from her and she won`t give up her pray/ toy and gets excited by the chasing. Like when they fought (cartoonish all right) and later, when she saw him running away she looked at him with affection telling herself how hansdome he is. Yes, things could become more complicated between them but their friendship connection is there. I think she will protect Lee Yeon from Mu Young and vice versa.

It is hilarious that sometime Lee Yeon is tempering his brother (when he wanted to kill the mosters/ kitchen god) and other times Lee Rang is the one who do it (when Lee Yeon made a scene in the train because someone was smoking).

‘Tale Of The Nine Tailed 1938’ Episode 2 Recap & Ending, Explained: Who Is The Red-And-White Masked Man?

And the Lee Yeon fandom grows stronger with the second episode of “Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938.” Ryu Hong Ju would agree, but we doubt she is just a harmless mountain god crushing on Lee Yeon. Then there is Lee Rang, who has left us confused for a bit. His abandonment issues were a lot more severe in “The Tale of the Nine-Tailed” than they seem to be in this series set 80 years prior. He is a lot more cool with his brother here. But the best part about Episode 2 was the reunion between Shin Ju and Lee Yeon. It happened towards the end of the episode and had us shedding real tears of joy. Did this scene remind anyone else of the reunion between Captain Ri Jeong Hyeok and his team when they were looking for him in South Korea in “Crash Landing on You”? Either way, Episode 2 has Lee Yeon fighting and investigating more mythical creatures while hunting for the red-and-white masked man so that he can take his revenge as a Gumiho. Following is a recap of the second episode of “Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938.”

 

What Happens On The Train?

Since the gates of time closed in Episode 1, Lee Yeon meets Taluipa of 1938 and asks her to help him go back. True to her nature, she tells him to run an errand. Yeon must get the legendary pipe that is currently being held by the Japanese. The Japanese have their fair share of magical creatures working in the force, and that is how they were able to steal the pipe, to begin with. We couldn’t find anything related to a pipe in Korean folklore, but we are assuming that this pipe is from the phrase “when tigers smoked pipes,” which is similar to “once upon a time.” When the train goes through an overpass, Rang’s bandits steal from the passengers on the train and one of the items in the pipe. But Ryu Hong Ju nicks it from them. She is not interested in the pipe but in Lee Yeon, and this is her way of bringing him to her. She comes across as slightly insane, not taking no for an answer from Yeon and ready to fight with him to the death unless he accepts her proposal. Luckily, Yeon escapes from the train with the pipe. However, he cannot go back to his time immediately since the gate of time opens only on the lunar eclipse, which is a month away. Therefore, he decides to spend that time with his brother.

Who Is Ginko Tawara?

She seems to be one of the good guys, but is undoubtedly ruthless, and we know this since we saw how casually she ordered her would-be torturer’s tendons to be cut off. Since Cheon Moo Young treated her wounds, she keeps visiting him, undoubtedly finding him fascinating. When she visits him in this episode, she opens up about her unhappy home life. Ginko had an older sister who was married to the Chief Commissioner, so Ginko wouldn’t have to marry him. But she killed herself soon after. Currently, she secretly takes part in the Korean resistance movement, either for her sister or because she herself is a believer in their freedom. Her brother-in-law, the chief commissioner, is a demon in the Japanese forces, and he was the one who ordered the pipe stolen. We are not sure if his motives are centered around Japan’s continued dominance or if they are something else. We will probably find that out in the upcoming episodes.

How Does Lee Yeon Find The “Three Worms”?

The Lee brothers go back to Myoyeongeok and discover that Ryu Hong Ju is the owner of it. She threatens Yeon to stay there, or she will burn down anyplace he chooses to take residence. Yeon agrees, also because Hong Ju is said to be the controller of information in that area. He asks for her help in tracing the masked man, and just like everyone else, she gives him an errand to run. Hong Ju wants him to judge a pageant on her behalf. A woman who planned on participating in the pageant seriously harmed a guest, and this abnormal hunger and carnal desires are the work of the Three Worms: “creatures controlling desires.” Yeon does as she says, and the winner of the pageant is Yang Young Ae, a woman he met on the train. But true to his suspicions, Young Ae is infested with the three worms and becomes feral. Luckily, she is captured by Moo Young without anyone seeing him. When Yeon speaks to Ginko about it, she tells him that the women affected were all customers of a particular hair salon. That is where Yeon heads next with Rang, and they both join as employees. Before long, they find that the person infecting the women with the worms is the cleaning lady. She is an indigenous deity, that of wooden stoves, and she is not able to handle her loss of importance. She lashed out her revenge with the help of the three worms, which had been given to her by a masked man. The woman goes up in flames as soon as she reveals this, as she was told to do once she gives away the secret. Basically, it is becoming clearer to Yeon and Rang that the masked man is out to get them. It will take some time before they discover why.

Who Is The Red-And-White Masked Man?

It became rather clear in the second episode that Cheon Moo Young was the masked man. We came to know his backstory when he told it to Ginko. He is the younger brother of Lee Yeon’s best friend. Yeon had killed Moo Young’s brother, and since then, he has wanted revenge on him. But we wonder whether there is more to it. After all, Moo Young mentions how he does not remember his brother very clearly. Additionally, he is on a bit of a rampage. Moo Young had to have known that Yeon could easily deal with the three worms. Then why is he letting them lose this way? But his objective is probably not Yeon in doing so. Young Ae is still alive after being attacked by the three worms, and at the end of Episode 2 of “Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938,” Moo Young says he wants to make her a Yacha, “a demon that desires human flesh and blood,” so basically a zombie. But what use does a mountain god have for a zombie? Meanwhile, Hong Ju is aware of his identity. She also seems to know that he went to the future. We suspect Moo Young went there on a mission, only a part of which was to lure Lee Yeon to 1938. He and Hong Ju are in on something, and we need to know that soon.

Final Thoughts

“Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938” is pure fun, and our knowledge of Korean folklore increases with every episode. However, from the preview of Episode 3, we suspect that things are going to get a lot more intense. Additionally, it remains to be seen how things change when Rang discovers that Yeon is from the future. Will he also come to know his own fate? It is a long wait for these answers.

Dongwook Lee, Return of the Detective Gumiho (The Tale of a Gumiho 1938

 

 

Lee Dong-wook transformed into a famous detective, a nine-tailed fox. In the second episode of tvN's Saturday and Sunday drama 'The Tale of a Gumiho 1938', which aired on the 7th, Lee Dong-wook played the role of 'Lee Yeon', a gumiho. He transformed into a colorful figure to solve the case and gave fun to watch.

 

In order to return home, Lee Yeon, who ran an errand for the undressing group (Kim Jeong-nan) and got on the train to find Manpasikjeok, met an unexpected person. It is his old friend Ryu Hong-joo (Kim So-yeon). Yiyeon forced Hongju to smile in order to receive the Manpasikjeok that Hongjoo had intercepted. However, at the words of Hong-joo, "Let's live with me," he said, "Marriage requires the consent of the person concerned," and he was beaten. The two added chewyness to the play by performing not only sweet and bloody Tikitaka but also spectacular action on the running train.

 

 

Yiyeon, who decided to use Hongju's information power to find the red and white mask, decided to investigate the three insects in the Miss Joseon contest in return. In 'The Tale of a Nine Tailed Fox 1938', Lee Dong-wook is reviving everything from the chemistry with the characters to the dialogue with excellent speed control. In particular, the dramatic reunion between Lee Yeon and Goo Shin-joo (Hwang Hee) at the end of the play made the home theater a sea of laughter with romance and affection comparable to that of any romance protagonist. ‘The Tale of a Gumiho 1938’ Lim Ji-ho appears as a strong villain
