Premiere Watch: Behind Every Star, Revenge of Others, The First Responders

by missvictrix

We have three premieres to look forward to in the coming week, all of which seem to be on schedule despite abrupt broadcasting changes due to last week’s national mourning. Comedy, revenge, and emergency services await.

The First Responders

https://www.dramabeans.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/tfr_sr.jpg

Time slot: Saturday-Sunday
Broadcaster: SBS
Genre: Drama, action
Episode count: 12

Reasons to watch: Already cleared for a second set of 12 episodes, The First Responders stars Kim Rae-won, Sohn Ho-joon, and Gong Seung-yeon, as detective, policeman, and EMT. We follow them as they’re first on the scene of crimes, accidents, and the like, and while this is ripe for an episodic structure, the drama also promises to be about the collaboration between agencies, and the very people that encounter this stuff on a daily basis. This is pretty uncommon turf for K-dramas, so I’m interested how they’ll put the drama spin on it.

TL;DR: Kim Rae-won, Sohn Ho-joon, Gong Seung-yeon, police and fire departments collab (A.K.A. butt heads)

The First Responders come to the rescue in new teaser

Save a life or catch the bad guy? In the latest teaser for SBS’s upcoming action drama The First Responders, we see what it looks like when local heroes need to make high-stakes decisions under pressure.

The drama does this by looking at the dynamics between three first responders in different fields. From the police force, we have the hotheaded Jin Ho-gae, played by Kim Rae-won (LUCA: The Beginning). He’ll stop at nothing to catch criminals, which puts him at odds with his equally determined colleagues at the fire department: firefighter Bong Do-jin, played by Sohn Ho-joon (Was It Love?), and paramedic Song Seol, played by Gong Seung-yeon (Bulgalsal: Immortal Souls). Since the two are in the business of saving lives over nabbing baddies, they’ll butt heads with Ho-gae as the three of them navigate the best course of action in emergency scenarios.

The teaser gives us a clear impression of this trio’s dynamic as they all respond to a Code 0 kidnapping alert. While Do-jin and Seol drive over to the location in a blaring ambulance and police escort, Ho-gae speeds alone on his motorcycle and cuts them off, yelling at them to turn off their siren as to not tip off the kidnapper.

We see more of Ho-gae’s single-track mindedness as he argues with a firefighter and says in voiceover, “Look, I don’t care. You firefighters can take care of the victims. I’m catching the perpetrator.”

We’re then given a rapid-fire montage of first responders working to get into the building and put out the fire, and we end with a scene of Ho-gae searching for the kidnapper in room, unaware that they are right behind him.

Written by Min Ji-eun (Investigation Couple) and directed by PD Shin Kyung-soo (Nokdu Flower), The First Responders will air on SBS premiering on November 12.

'The Police Station Next to the Fire Station' is a joint response site diary between the police catching criminals and the fire department that catches fires.

Choi Seok-doo, played by Jung Wook-jin, is a person who falls into the path of crime as easily as he is fearful as a drug offender, unlike his ordinary appearance.

Jung Uk-jin, who shows a different charm every time he goes back and forth between the stage and the CRT with his excellent digestibility for each character, is expected to perfectly digest the character based on detailed expression and natural acting in this work, further enhancing immersion in the play.

Meanwhile, 'The Police Station Next to the Fire Station' starring Wook-Jin Jung will be broadcasted for the first time on the December 12th.

The production company of 'Police Station Next to the Fire Station' officially apologizes to the bereaved family of the late PD Lee Himchan ahead of the first episode

202211081926393746_d.jpg

The drama production company Studio S, a subsidiary of SBS, officially apologized to the bereaved family of the late PD Lee Him-chan, who was the producer of the drama 'Police Station Next to the Fire Station'.

On the afternoon of the 8th, the 'Studio S Response Committee for the Death of the Late Producer Himchan Lee', consisting of five organizations including the National Press Workers' Union, held a press conference at the Press Center in Jung-gu, Seoul.

On this day, Jung Hyung-taek, head of SBS's National Media Workers' Union, said, "A precious colleague at our workplace made an extreme choice. I would like to apologize to the bereaved family for failing to protect the union members."

Director Jung said, “The work stress must have been amplified to an unbearable level due to the pressure of the deceased to complete the work within the insufficient budget range, and anxiety due to the tight programming schedule.” The cause of death of PD Lee Himchan was reviewed. "What was noteworthy in the apology on the 7th was that effective measures were prepared to restore the deceased's honor and prevent recurrence."

Accordingly, the task force proposed a plan to improve the system to prevent recurrence based on the report on the cause of death. These measures include alleviating the pressure of organizing by securing an appropriate production period, proactive resolution of conflicts and conflicts that may arise between the production team, such as directors and producers, and regular inspection of on-site grievances, a management system for high-risk groups of job stress, and introduction of an emergency leave system.

In addition, the task force committee delivered the contents of the meeting held the day before on the 7th, attended by the bereaved family, the task force committee, and the studio S side. Studio S CEO Han Jeong-hwan and management director Kim Dong-ho said to the bereaved family of the late PD Lee Him-chan, "Through a joint investigation, we reflected on the company's production system and accepted the pain that the deceased must have suffered seriously."

'Police Station Next to Fire Station', in which the deceased participated in the production, will be broadcast for the first time on the 12th, and the first episode will contain a memorial message for the deceased, and the final scene of the final episode will reflect the deceased's photo and the will of remembrance.

The drama 'The Police Station Next to the Fire Station' has released a 'group poster' that foreshadows the burning teamwork of the firefighters and the police.

SBS's new Friday-Saturday drama 'Police Station Next to Fire Station', which will be broadcast for the first time on the 12th, is a drama containing the diary of the 'joint response' of 'Police' to catch criminals and 'Firefighters' to catch fire. It is the story of the 'Police' and 'Firefighter' who struggle on the front line that crosses the line, and the heart-warming team play of people whose hearts beat for others. Actors Kim Rae-won, Son Ho-jun, and Gong Seung-yeon, who show spectacular videos, dense episodes, and customized performances for each character, are gathering attention.

On the 8th, 'The Police Station Next to the Fire Station' released a 'group poster' in which Kim Rae-won, Son Ho-jun, and Gong Seung-yeon transformed into Taewon Police Station detective Jin Ho-gae, Taewon Fire Station firefighter Bong Do-jin, and paramedic Song Seol.

First, Jin Ho-gae (Kim Rae-won), Bong Do-jin (Son Ho-jun), and Song Seol (Gong Seung-yeon) stared intently at the overturning of a burning vehicle and drew an instantaneous moment. Also, before the fire went out, Jinho Gae showed enthusiasm by illuminating a flashlight, and Bong Do-jin and Song Seol also lit up their eyes of bitterness and concentration, raising the tension.

“The First Responders” has dropped a four-minute-long teaser!

Starring Kim Rae Won, Son Ho Jun, and Gong Seung Yeon, “The First Responders” is a drama about members of the police force, fire department, and paramedic team as they come together to help their city in any way they can. The drama highlights the teamwork these three departments work hard to maintain, and the star-studded cast has viewers waiting in anticipation to see just how this story will come to life.

The new teaser kicks off with the police wondering about the whereabouts of Jin Ho Gae (Kim Rae Won). Apparently, Jin Ho Gae is very famous among the police for his short temper which led to his demotion. The text that reads, “Once I bite, I’ll catch it no matter what,” as well as his nickname “Jindo dog” hint at his straightforward personality.

The clip then portrays firefighter Bong Do Jin (Son Ho Jun) risking his life to save others at the dreadful scene of a fire. The text that reads, “I read the smoke, predict the flames, and put out the fire,” indicates his strong work ethics and professional spirit.

The next clip shows paramedic Song Seol (Gong Seung Yeon) who is exposed to various types of emergencies. The text that reads, “Paramedics’ hearts beat for others,” conveys her spirit of self-sacrifice, which is a virtue that is required for the sacred professions that the three characters have.

The teaser suddenly changes its atmosphere and foreshadows a series of upcoming emergency situations. There is a man shouting, “It’s Code Zero! This is a kidnapping case!” At the same time, there are other emergency cases defined as Code Two and Code Yellow as well. The descriptions for each code level catch viewers’ attention and the fast-moving scenes raise tension in the drama.

Watch: Kim Rae Won Refuses Son Ho Jun’s And Gong Seung Yeon’s Helping Hands In New Teaser For “The First Responders”

Another teaser for the action-packed thriller “The First Responders” has just dropped!

“The First Responders” is an upcoming drama about members of the police force, fire department, and paramedic team as they come together to help their city in any way they can. The drama’s story highlights the teamwork between the three departments and the challenges they face as they try to work in tandem.

The drama stars Kim Rae Won as legendary police officer Jin Ho Gae, Son Ho Jun as hard-working and brave firefighter Bong Do Jin, and Gong Seung Yeon as caring and attentive paramedic Song Seol.

The teaser gives just a quick glimpse into the drama that is filled with non-stop action. The video mainly centers around Jin Ho Gae, who come off as brash and intense while possessing a rather sharp tongue. He is clearly not one to be messed with, and can even be seen biting into someone’s leg, a scene that is sure to pique viewers’ curiosity.

Jin Ho Gae is shown brushing off Song Seol and Bong Do Jin, even in jobs that the paramedic and firefighter are surely more adept at handling. The tension sparks hotly between the police officer and his supposed “teammates” as he tries to run the show by himself.

The danger is mounting, but will Jin Ho Gae be able to accept the help offered to him and save the city?

Ahahaaa! what the! It's only the first episode and I'm crushing on KRW already!  He's on fire! :evillaugh:

pun  emoji intended..cos it's there!  heh. The policeman next to the fire station..right. But title is actually  first /code responders.

From how the character is.. I immediately thought of Shin Ha Kyun or Jung Kyung Ho as well. I like them crude

Right fron the getgoo I knew I'ds like this! I enjoyed episode. Violent first half.. but the humor in place  is good. His called Jin Dog.. aka Jin Hogae " b*strd detective. from RIU. He just has his own method and way of dealing with scums  violators in this case where's he's assigned.. It's not law abiding  when trying to apprehend  that makes him Infamous.  The higher ups not happy with his "immoral" apprehensio of suspect.. other detective exasperated lol.

The moment he tried to hide (well not exactly.. but stop... the smirk/ smile from his face when during the hearing for his code of conduct.  When he needs to be bad.. need that strong ahole ways to make sure scum don't get away cannot get way.  I like that he's badassss in goodassss way!

Looks like he's estranged from his famous high powered prosecutor father. There's backstory to that and goota watch ep 2 for that.

The first episode was super fun to watch, I really enjoyed it. There were a lot of things that didn't really make sense and were kinda unrealisitc but honestly it didn't bother me at all because I was having such fun. The main trio is already really likeable and I'm looking forward for their dynamic and getting to know more about their background. Love the cast.

That was the moment I already knew I'd love his character lol. Also love how he actually lives up to his nickname.

The First Responders: Episode 1 (First Impressions)

by quirkycase

FR01-00013.jpg

It’s an action-packed premiere for The First Responders, a drama all about the joint first response unit that deals with all matters of emergencies. The drama wastes no time introducing a case where we get to see our frontline team in action as they race against the clock to save a kidnapping victim. Teamwork is the name of the game since they’ll need every bit of expertise they can get. But for our police officer, firefighter, and paramedic, working together during a crisis isn’t always easy, especially when not everyone plays by the rules.

EPISODE 1 FIRST IMPRESSIONS

What got me most excited about this drama was actually director Shin Kyung-soo, who directed my all-time favorite sageuk Nokdu Flower, as well as two of my other favorites Tree with Deep Roots and Six Flying Dragons. A drama about frontline responders feels like quite the departure, but he didn’t disappoint. Right off, I appreciated how little exposition we got; instead, we dive right into the action to see how our team operates under pressure.

The first team member we’re introduced to is police lieutenant JIN HO-GAE (Kim Rae-won). It’s not the warmest introduction – the drama opens on his disciplinary hearing for punching a perpetrator in the face. Ho-gae can’t even bring himself to apologize for the assault and instead doubles down, arguing that the man deserved it.

This is our first taste of his stubborn, hot-headed, and abrasive nature. Ho-gae isn’t exactly beloved by his colleagues and has a reputation for causing trouble. His nickname is “Jindo Dog” for his tendency to bite and not let go once he’s got ahold of something. The fact that his father is a powerful chief prosecutor doesn’t help endear him to his colleagues since they assume he’ll get out of every scrape unscathed.

I’m not a Ho-gae fan so far, but I’m hoping his reassignment to the first response team will help him learn to be a bit more tempered. He barely has time to finish his hearing before he gets a call for his first case with the team.

A woman named KIM SO-HEE is knocked out in the street and wakes in a super creepy man’s apartment. It’s a whole serial killer setup, complete with a room covered in plastic. The man stabs So-hee in the leg, but thankfully, she proves smart and slips in her Bluetooth earbuds. He leaves her alone in the room, so when her mom calls, So-hee is able to tell her to call the police.

Now we get to see our first response team in action. It’s truly a coordinated effort between the police department, fire department, and emergency medicine with Taewon police chief BAEK CHAM (Seo Hyun-cheol) leading the team. They have one hour to save So-hee before her leg wound causes her to bleed out, so there’s no time for introductions when newbie Ho-gae shows up.

FR01-00012.jpg

We learn a lot about each of our leads just by watching them work and how they respond to crises. SONG SEOL (Gong Seung-yeon) is the paramedic and stays on the line with So-hee, keeping her calm and gleaning as much information as possible about her condition and location. She’s even-keeled and compassionate, with all her attention on saving the victim.

BONG DO-JIN (Sohn Ho-joon) is our firefighter. He immediately butts heads with Ho-gae who jumps right in with the risky plans, seeming more concerned with catching the perpetrator than protecting the victim and other civilians. Do-jin has a bit of a temper himself, but he comes off as more empathetic and driven by a desire to protect.

Ho-gae may be impulsive and have some anger issues, but he is quick on the uptake. He immediately gathers from the info So-hee gives them that the man is squatting in someone else’s apartment. But then, his assumptions and impulsivity lead them to break into the wrong apartment.

Finished episode 2. I'm enjoying this drama. Dry humor and is good. Not overt but it's placed well. Every episode will have difference cases but the main gist for Jindog's character is his estranged relationship with the powerful father plus something happened in the past that made hiim be like snarky impulsive detective.

And yes I learned from Jindog different type of murder when he was explaining to Song Seol bout the case. He thinks the first responders are simpleminded about matters.

Trick to die =deceptive murder

If threatened -coerced murder

Someomeone ordered = contract murder

If victim doesn't want committ suicided- instigated murder

If they help to committ suicide - aiding and abetting

If forced - it's homicide

So episode JD move in to the complex where  main responders Bong Do Jin and  Song Seol lives.  Th unit he's renting was burned before when fire broke and eversince the jokes hat it's haunted. There was missing person.. hence the running joke.. but towards the end they showed through flasback  the fire charred space .

I don't know wht's the deal with the antagonist guy with the who's bail was granted but...he out to ghet Jindog's head. Getting evidence of past wrong doings of JD.

As for the case tfor this episode. Teen committed suicied due to being blackmailed and forced to drink poisond drink. The teem class,ate/class president does gambling through games. Teen girl who commited suicied was outcast with low self esteem and so... we know with tis type of teens what cann appen with egged on -result is hardmful dangerous lead to suicide. So parents better make sure they know what's going on with their children.. esp with teens.

You cannot charge a minor in Korea right? I mean police can but minors cannot be put in jail. Jindog being himself.. scared the teen suspect.  Also how can a minor be interrogated for 6 hours without an attorney or someone older to be there for them isn't that illegal??  I guess this is for drama's sake?

By the way, the young student blackmailer in this episode is also in the new new drama Reborn Rich as teen character.

I call this my team doggo! gets? Jin Doggo!  plus "bong-gyver" and Jindog's sidekick :1646639759_ezgif.com-gif-maker(1):

Episode 3 and 4 next. I'm enjoying this!
