Watch: Lee Joon, Kang Han Na, Jang Hyuk, And Park Ji Yeon Share Details About Their Characters In Upcoming Historical Drama

KBS has shared another look at the script reading for its upcoming historical drama!

“Red Heart” (literal translation) is a fictional historical drama about the bloody political romance between Lee Tae (Lee Joon), a king who has to abandon the woman he loves to survive, and Yoo Jung (Kang Han Na), a woman who has to become the queen to survive. The cast also includes Jang Hyuk, Park Ji Yeon, Heo Sung Tae, Ha Do Kwon, Kang Shin Il, Jo Seung Yeon, Cha Soon Bae, Ryu Seung Soo, Lee Tae Ri, and Choi Ri.

Following the reading, Lee Joon shared, “I’m really look forward to it.” Kang Han Na added, “There’s a lot of fun and strength that the story has.” Jang Hyuk continued, “While it’s a historical drama about the royal court, it’s also a historical drama that draws out the ties between people. Park Ji Yeon commented, “Each character’s purpose is so clear and defined.”

To introduce his role as Lee Tae, Lee Joon commented, “He’s the king. He’s the king, but he’s a character who dreams of getting revenge against his family. I thought of him as two-faced. That’s why I thought [my character] was a bit more three-dimensional. I thought I could showcase a wide variety of images, so I was drawn to this project.”

Kang Han Na introduced herself and her character and explained, “Unlike other females at the time of the Joseon Dynasty, Yoo Jung is very carefree and self-directed, and is a character who takes charge of her own life. She’s a warm character who wisely and sensibly deals with situations she’s put in and tries to cherish and protect the people most precious to her.”

Jang Hyuk plays Park Gye Won, the first vice-premier and the real head of power in Joseon. He commented, “I’m kind of in charge of the villain.” Jang Hyuk continued, “[Park Gye Won] is quite calm and there’s a need for his inner self not to get caught, so I’m trying my best to be frigid yet laidback.”

Regarding her role as Choi Ga Yeon, Park Ji Yeon shared, “The character of Ga Young is a pitiful girl who enters the palace against her own will. She’s a charming and unpredictable character who you will grow more curious about with each episode. I think it’ll be great if you remain curious about her objectives as she lives in the palace.”

At the end of the clip, all the cast members ask for lots of love and support for “Red Heart.” Watch the full video below!

“Red Heart” will air in the first half of 2022 following the conclusion of “Crazy Love.”

'Bloody Heart' Jang Hyuk: Two-faced Park Gye-won

Expectations are rising for the two faces that Jang Hyuk will show in 'Bloody Heart'.

On March 30th, KBS 2TV's new Monday-Tuesday drama 'Bloody Heart' (directed by Yoo Young-eun / Scriptwriter Park Pil-joo / produced by G&G Production), which is scheduled to air in the first half of this year, released a still cut of Jang Hyuk's extreme temperature difference.

'Bloody Heart' is a bloody politicall drama that takes place between King Lee Tae (Lee Joon), who has to throw away the woman he loves in order to survive, and Yoo Jung (Kang Han-na), who has to become a fighter in order to survive, as they aim their swords at each other's necks.

In the drama, Jang Hyuk will be disassembled as Park Gye-won, the real ruler of Joseon, and will radiate overwhelming charisma. In order to create a Joseon that will never be devastated by tyranny again, Park Gye-won promoted the rebellion and revived the nation's system as the head of anti-Jeonggongsin. When he opens his mouth, he has so much power that everyone  hold their breaths, but he is a person who wants to be a loyal servant for the country more than anyone else.

In the photo released on the 30th March (today), Jang Hyuk (as Park Gye-won) brings a strong suction power with his eyes that have changed 180 degrees. His appearance, looking at the snow falling from the sky, is somewhat lonely, but the appearance of a tiger is unmistakably buried in him standing on the sidelines, stealing his gaze.

In another photo, Jang Hyuk is looking somewhere with an empty expression. His intense but empty eyes make one wonder what the inner heart of Park Gye-won's character, which can hardly be read, is. In particular, his two faces, which radiate a different atmosphere, naturally draw admiration as "Jang Hyuk as expected."

The production team of 'Bloody Heart' said, "Jang Hyuk is planning to portray the complex and subtle poles and emotions of Park Gye-won's character, who is only for the kingmaker and the first premier. His overwhelming expression and detailed emotional acting make it impossible to take your eyes off of him. You can look forward to what kind of image Jang Hyuk will show as Park Gyew-on in ‘Bloody Heart’ "

“Red Heart” is a fictional historical drama about the bloody political romance between Lee Tae (Lee Joon), a king who has to abandon the woman he loves to survive, and Yoo Jung (Kang Han Na), a woman who has to become the queen to survive.

The newly released stills feature Lee Tae, the king of Joseon, and Park Gye Won (Jang Hyuk), the first vice-premier and the real head of power. Lee Tae, who dreams of being an “absolute monarch,” and Park Gye Won, “the king maker,” are expected to constantly engage in a tense war of nerves.

In the first two photos, there’s heavy tension between Lee Tae and Park Gye Won, who are face to face with each other. They’re both keeping a close eye on one another with unshakable gazes. The ways they try to deceive and trick each other will be something to look forward to.

Actress Park Ji-yeon appears as a meaningful role in "Bloody Heart"

KBS 2TV's new Monday-Tuesday drama "Bloody Heart" (directed by Yoo Young-eun / scripted by Park Pil-joo / produced by G&G Production), which is scheduled to premiere at 9:30 p.m. on May 2 (Monday), unveiled Park Ji-yeon's first still full of ambition.

"Bloody Heart" is a blood-colored court romance in which Lee Tae (Lee Joon), the king who has to throw out his beloved woman to survive, Yoo Jung (Kang Han-na), and static people point swords at each other's necks.

Park Ji-yeon played the role of Choi Ga-yeon compared to the elegant ambitious person in the play. Before entering the palace as a family rite of deliberation, Choi Ga-yeon became the concubine of King Seonjong, a gentle and fine peony, who did not love him, and later succeeded Queen In-young as a middle ground, becoming the back of anti-jeong and a royal joke with them.

Park Ji-yeon in the photo released on the 5th (today) creates a conflicting atmosphere. Her benevolent smile feels gentle, but the meaningful energy in her eyes brings out a strange tension.

On the other hand, Park Ji-yeon's appearance with light and darkness hanging on her face maximizes her imagination of the character by giving a glimpse of Choi Ga-yeon's psychology of living with a knife in her heart.

In particular, Choi Ga-yeon was still happy to share her political values with Park Gye-won (Jang Hyuk), whom she had lost her heart to before the rebellion, but for some reason, she has a desire for power that she has never wanted.

The production team of "Bloody Heart" said, "Park Ji-yeon boasts a high synchronization rate of Choi Ga-yeon's character itself, from visual to acting. In particular, her unique tone of voice is working as a tremendous synergy in creating an attractive character. "Please check how Park Ji-yeon will unravel the changing narrative of Choi Ga-yeon through 'Red Dan-sim'."

Meanwhile, KBS 2TV's new Monday-Tuesday drama "Bloody Heart" in which director Yoo Young-eun and writer Park Pil-joo worked together, will premiere at 9:30 p.m. on May 2 (Mon) following "Crazy Love."
