The actors of the soon-to-be-released Netflix series Gyeongseong Creature shared their reasons for choosing the drama.

The press conference of Gyeongseong Creature was held on December 19, which was attended by director Jung Dong Yoon and actors Park Seo JoonHan So HeeKim Su HyunKim Hae Sook, and Jo Han Chul

At the press conference, Park Seo Joon said, "Upon reading the story, I found it captivating."

Making a comeback after a hiatus of almost two years, Kim Su Hyun remarked, "Getting a project such as this itself made me happy. Within this scale, the small conflicts and  the nuanced emotions between characters seemed difficult, but I felt like it would be a work that would allow me to grow [as an actor] if I challenge myself."

Veteran actress Kim Hae Sook shared, "The narrative that combined a historical backdrop with [the fantasy element of] a creature was refreshing. I had faith in the writer and director. There was no reason not to choose this. The actors I worked with were people I [always] wanted to collaborate with. I was really happy."

Veteran actor Jo Han Chul stated, "The script was excellent. I also enjoyed the director's previous work. Whenever a project proposal comes, I wonder who the actors will be [who I'll be working with]. There were actors I wanted to work with, so there was no reason not to do it. And Yoon Jong Won is a character with a melodramatic story, and that's what made me want to try it."

Park Seo Joon is great as always. Han so Hee is fine as is the rest of the cast. The 'creature' is cool and CGIs are good. One-on-one fight scenes are well-done.

The basic premise is pretty frightening (all those experiments and missing people and creation of an indestructible biological weapon).

The story gets dumb around Ep. 3 or so, when:

Spoiler

the 'creature' can be neutered through nitrogen gas but is left to roam 2 levels - killing plenty of Japanese soldiers along the way even though guns don't work on it, before the 'commander' tries to do another experiment by having the 'creature' kill its own daughter! I mean for a Japanese commander to keep using a so-called 'biological weapon' in such a careless manner and that too at the cost of one's own soldiers!!!! Not to mention the cavalier way in which he 'stored' the virus serum and its cure-tonics, and the creature.

Plus, the 'Joseon'/ 'Koreans' trapped in the prison cells are slow to run anywhere! That truck scene at the end of Ep. 7 took forever, not 10 minutes. And the rebel who knew the location of dynamite (to be used for 'revolution') was an irritating figure. I wanted the creature to get him! Instead he lived! Someone should've punched him atleast.

And the 'painter' Sachimoto keeps the horror trope alive by not disclosing early on what 'creature' the basement / building contains!!! (or who it is) and the same goes for every prisoner who had seen the effects of the 'anthrax' droplets. Nobody warns anyone about anything.

The leads talk too much or wait too much in key scenes where time is of essence without looking at their surroundings as any normal person would in a similar situation.

To go on for a day or two without food and still have energy and wits to run and fight in a building, having been shot, thrown about, cut and taken to every floor imaginable is a feat in itself!

Everyone kept ribbing Tae-Sang (PSJ) about how he only looked after his own interests - as if he owed anyone else anything! And the poor rich guy had to sacrifice again and again just for a girl and 'greater good'!

Anyways, Part 2 should be a ride too. Part 2 should be watched just to see Park Seo Joon, how Joseon / Koreans rescue themselves from the Japanese AND the 2 creatures, the connection between Lady Maeda and the heroine's mother, and the kiss scene between the leads (which was teased in the trailer but is not here).

Watch: “Gyeongseong Creature” Season 2 Confirms Premiere Date As Park Seo Joon, Han So Hee, And More Fight To Survive In First Teasers

Netflix’s “Gyeongseong Creature” Season 2 has announced the drama’s premiere date with a new teaser and posters!

Set in the dark times of Spring 1945, Season 1 of “Gyeongseong Creature” told the story of an entrepreneur and a sleuth who must fight for survival and face a monster born out of human greed. In Season 2, the unfinished story continues in Seoul of 2024 where Yoon Chae Ok (Han So Hee), who survives the spring of Gyeongseong, meets Ho Jae, who resembles Jang Tae Sang (Park Seo Joon).

The posters feature characters who have traveled from 1945 to 2024. One poster shows Ho Jae (Park Seo Joon), who bears a striking resemblance to Tae Sang, the head of Gyeongseong’s top pawnshop Geumokdang. This resemblance raises questions about why he looks like Tae Sang and what his true identity might be.

A poster featuring Chae Ok in modern Seoul, set after the Gyeongseong era, raises questions about how Chae Ok survived after swallowing Najin (parasite worm species) in the Season 1 finale and what she has been through since. The addition of new characters, Captain Kuroko (Lee Moo Saeng) and Seung Jo (Bae Hyeon Seong), heightens excitement for the expanded storyline in Season 2.

gyeongseong-creature-3.jpg

Captain Kuroko leads a group of elite agents called Kurokos, working under secret orders and creating covert plans in a lab with restricted access. Seung Jo pursues Ho Jae and Chae Ok, acting as a catalyst in the mysterious events around them and delivering high-stakes action.

The new trailer opens with Chae Ok waking up with past memories after swallowing Najin. In 2024 Seoul, now vastly different from 1945 Gyeongseong, Chae Ok meets Ho Jae, who looks like Tae Sang. Despite calling him “Master Jang,” with a hopeful expression, Chae Ok feels despair when Ho Jae replies, “My name is Jang Ho Jae.”

Suspicious experiments under Captain Kuroko’s command continue unabated, while Chae Ok’s line, “So it’s not over, then? This hell,” hints at the return of past nightmares. Meanwhile, Seung Jo, with his superhuman ability to control tentacles, and the shadowy Kuroko group chase Tae Sang and Chae Ok, delivering intense action that provides a thrilling experience.

The phrase, “The weight of karma, a fight to end it all,” and images of characters fiercely battling across time increase curiosity about how their connections, conflicts, and destinies from Gyeongseong to Seoul will be resolved.

Netflix’s “Gyeongseong Creature” Season 2 has unveiled new stills of the cast!

The newly released stills depict Jang Ho Jae (Park Seo Joon), the vice president of Bugang Sangsa, a private agency that handles any request for money. His appearance closely resembles Jang Tae Sang, the head of Gyeongseong’s top pawnshop Geumokdang, sparking curiosity about his hidden story. From his detective-like look—complete with sunglasses and a leather jacket—to his desperate search for someone, Jang Ho Jae teases thrilling events to come. Park Seo Joon brings a new charm to Ho Jae, distinct from Tae Sang’s character in 1945, drawing viewers deeper into the story.

The images of her in a black hood suggest a life spent suppressing the instincts and desires awakened by Najin, raising questions about the choices she will make. Standing among numerous enemies, her swift, almost superhuman movements build anticipation for Han So Hee’s portrayal of Chae Ok’s intense, powerful action scenes.

Netflix’s “Gyeongseong Creature” Season 2 has unveiled a new main poster and a teaser!

The main poster grabs attention by showing scenes from 1945 Gyeongseong and 2024 Seoul, featuring characters from both time periods.

The intense expressions of Ho Jae (Park Seo Joon) and Chae Ok (Han So Hee) are paired with the tagline, “The weight of karma. A fight to end it all,” sparking interest in their final fight to resolve a conflict that has lasted since 1945.

The poster features Ho Jae and Chae Ok, with Ho Jae mirroring Tae Sang, the head of a top pawnshop in Gyeongseong, and Chae Ok holding a dagger with a fierce look. This image teases the new story that will unfold from their destined encounter.

Also shown are Leader Kuroko (Lee Moo Saeng) and Seung Jo (Bae Hyeon Seong) along with the elite secret agents known as the Kurokos jumping in the background. This adds intrigue about the regime’s dark and mysterious goals and builds excitement for the intense action to come.

gyeongseong-creature-2-poster.jpg

The new official trailer opens with Tae Sang in 1945 Gyeongseong and transitions to Chae Ok in 2024 Seoul, where she says, “But my winter has not ended yet.”

The trailer hints at a series of mysterious murders across Seoul and shows Chae Ok secretly visiting the crime scenes. This suggests that the nightmarish events from Gyeongseong’s past are resurfacing in present-day Seoul.

Ho Jae, a businessman, encounters Chae Ok, who calls him “Master Jang,” and is confused by unfamiliar emotions.

At Jeonseung Biotech, mysterious experiments are being conducted under Leader Kuroko, raising questions. Meanwhile, Seung Jo, who notices that Chae Ok has abilities similar to his own, and the shadowy Kurokos, who relentlessly pursue Ho Jae and Chae Ok, heighten the suspense about the final confrontation between these conflicting forces.
