Im Soo Hyang will be acting alongside So Ji Sub and Shin Sung Rok in a new drama!

On November 25, MBC announced that Im Soo Hyang was cast in the upcoming drama “Dr. Lawyer.” It is a heart-warming and cathartic drama about a genius surgeon who becomes a medical malpractice lawyer after losing everything from a fabricated surgery and a prosecutor from the Medical Crimes Department who loses her only family and lover through that surgery. Together, they punish those who believe that the importance of a person’s life can be ranked based on their wealth and power and comfort the victims who have been wronged.

Earlier this year, So Ji Sub was confirmed for the main role of the medical malpractice lawyer Han Yi Han, and Shin Sung Rok will play CEO Jayden Lee.

Im Soo Hyang will take on the role of prosecutor Geum Seok Young of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office’s Medical Crimes Department. She holds the firm belief that criminals are rehabilitated not through forgiveness and leniency, but through punishment. As for defendants who are truly innocent, she is more eager to declare them innocent than even their own lawyers.

“Dr. Lawyer” is slated to air in 2022.

Lim Soo-Hyang cast in MBC drama “Dr. Lawyer”

Lim Soo-Hyang is cast for the lead female role in MBC drama series “Dr. Lawyer” starring So Ji-Sub. For “Dr. Lawyer,” Lim Soo-Hyang will play Geum Seok-Young. She works as a prosecutor at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office and deals with medical cases. In her past, she lost a family member and a lover due to a surgery performed by Han Yi-Han (So Ji-Sub). 

“Dr. Lawyer” will air sometime in the first half of 2022 in South Korea.

Plot Synopsis by AsianWiki: Han Yi-Han (So Ji-Sub) was an elite elite surgeon. He graduated at the top of the best medical school in South Korea and he specialized in two departments: general surgery and cardiothoracic surgery. One surgery changed his life. Han Yi-Han believe he did well on that surgery, but the patient died. He then got his medical license revoked.

Four years later, Han Yi-Han works as a lawyer, specializing in medical litigation. He also tries to uncover the truth behind the death of his former patient. For his trials, Han Yi-Han defends victims and tries to punish those that commit medical malpractice and negligence. He works with a public prosecutor, who lost a family member and a lover due to the surgery Han Yi-Han performed.

Im Soo Hyang confirmed to work alongside So Ji Sub in the upcoming drama "Doctor Lawyer."

On November 25th, MBC announced that Im Soo Hyang will be the female lead for the upcoming drama "Doctor Lawyer." The drama will be directed by Lee Yong Seok ("Iljimae") and written by Jang Hong Chul ("Class Of Lies"). 

Im Soo Hyang will be working together with main leads So Ji Sub and Shin Sung Rok. The drama will showcase the story of a genius surgeon who lost everything in a fabricated operation and shifted his career as a medical litigation lawyer and a prosecutor from the Medical Crimes Department who loses her only family and lover through that surgery. Together, they will punish the people who believe that those with wealth and power are the only ones with important lives. They will be the comforter of their victims.  

So Ji Sub will play the role of Han Lee Han, a former double-board surgeon turned medical malpractice lawyer. Shin Sung Rok will play the role of Jayden Lee, the Asian branch manager of Honors Hand. Im Soo Hyang will play the role of Geum Seok Young. She works at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office’s Medical Crimes Department. 

"Doctor Lawyer" will be the comeback drama of Im Soo Hyang after two years. The series will premiere in the first half of 2022.

 

 

Im Soo Hyang last starred in the 2020 drama "When I Was the Most Beautiful" with Kim Ji Soo, Ha Seok Jin, Hwang Seung Eon, Park Ji Young, Stephanie Lee, and more.

After two years, she will return with two dramas. First is "Doctor Lawyer" followed by the Korean remake of the hit US series 'Jane The Virgin,' titled "From Today We Are." She will be working with Sung Hoon, Shin Dong Wook, and more in the said drama.

Im Soo-hyang joins Shin Sung-rok, So Ji-sub in Dr. Lawyer

Medical suspense drama Dr. Lawyer has cast Im Soo-hyang (When I Was the Most Beautiful) as its female lead. Her casting announcement comes on the heels of Shin Sung-rok (Kairos) confirming his involvement in the project.

So Ji-sub (Oh My Venus) will be playing the titular doctor and lawyer. Once a genius doctor, in the aftermath of a surgery that seemed to go well but ended in a loss of life, he’s framed for malpractice and loses his medical license. He decides to make lemonade out of the lemons life hands him and he starts over as a malpractice attorney.

Im Soo-hyang plays the Seoul Central District prosecutor Geum Seok-young and specializes in medical crimes. The character believes that criminals can only be reformed through punishment and not leniency and forgiveness. However, she also has a very warm and humane side; she will support defendants who are wrongfully framed in their innocence plea even more aggressively than their own lawyers. She and So Ji-sub have a painful common event in their pasts: the same surgery that upended So’s life also resulted in Im Soo-hyang losing her significant other who was also the only family she had.

 

On the other hand, Shin Sung-rok plays Jaden Lee, the head of the Asia division of a lobbying and investment firm. He’s man who is willing to do anything if that means it will help him succeed in life. He’s so powerful that at his one word, situations can flip upside down. He’s also extremely mysterious, with a poker face that no one can read.

Directed by Lee Yong-seok (Haechi) and written by Jang Hong-chul (Class of Lies), MBC drama Dr. Lawyer will air in the early half of 2022.

On January 6th, it was confirmed that Lee Joo Bin will be added to the cast of the upcoming MBC drama "Doctor Lawyer." She will be working alongside So Ji Sub, Im Soo Hyang, and Shin Sung Rok.

"Doctor Lawyer" will be the latest work of director Lee Yong Seok ("Iljimae") and writer Jang Hong Chul ("Class Of Lies"). The drama will reportedly have 16 episodes and it will be part of the Friday-Saturday drama timeslot of MBC. 

The upcoming drama will revolve around a genius surgeon who shifted as a medical litigation lawyer because of a fabricated operation and a prosecutor from the Medical Crimes Department who is the only family of the victim of the failed surgery.  The two will work together to punish those who are in power. 

So Ji Sub will play the role of Han Yi Han, a former double-board surgeon who became a medical malpractice lawyer. Shin Sung Rok will be the character named Jayden Lee, the Asian branch manager of Honors Hand.  Im Soo Hyang on the other hand will play as Geum Seok Young, a prosecutor at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office’s Medical Crimes Department.

Lee Joo Bin's character in the drama is not yet revealed.

Lee Joo Bin will be very busy this year. Aside from "Doctor Lawyer," the actress will also join the upcoming Korean remake of Netflix's "Money Heist." She will also join the upcoming drama "Love Battle" with Kim Ok Bin, Yoo Teo, Kim Ji Hoon, and Go Won Hee. 

The actress is known for starring in several dramas such as "She Would Never Know," "Find Me in Your Memory," "The Tale of Nokdu," "Be Melodramatic," "Mr. Sunshine," and more.

MBC drama GoldSpoon is set to broadcast on Fri-Sat slot following DrLawyer in aroud mid of July. FromNowOnShowtime moved to Wed-Thur/Mon-Tue in April.

It is very hard to find pictuires from filming sites these days. In the past there were more information about the drama before they start promoting it. Thanks to the coffee trucks, we are able to see the actors on the shooting site.

 

I am curious what kind of villain Shin Sung Rok will play this time. A charming one, I assume.
