Update: Yoo Seung Ho, Girl’s Day’s Hyeri, Byun Woo Seok, And Kang Mina Confirmed For Historical Drama

Updated May 5 KST:

Byun Woo Seok and Kang Mina have confirmed their casting in Yoo Seung Ho and Girl’s Day’s Hyeri’s new historical drama!

On May 5, a source from the upcoming KBS drama confirmed, “With Byun Woo Seok and Kang Mina joining, we have completed casting for the four lead roles.”

Byun Woo Seok will play Lee Pyo, the crown prince who rebels against the law during a time of prohibition. He has a face that brightens the world everywhere he goes, and even though he wasn’t destined to be the heir at first, he rose to the position now that he is the only prince left. Although he seems to have everything in the world, the one habit he can’t shake is alcohol. Even in a time of prohibition, he sneaks out of the palace to go to drinking places and causes a nuisance for the kingdom.

Kang Mina will play Han Ae Jin, the only daughter of a noble family. She is a straightforward, stubborn character who grew up in elegant surroundings and absolutely refuses to do what she hates and absolutely must do what she wants. As she approaches marrying age, she decides that she wants a good-looking husband if she has to look at his face for the rest of her life.

Check out the description of the drama and Yoo Seung Ho and Hyeri’s characters below!

Original Article:

Yoo Seung Ho and Girl’s Day’s Hyeri will be starring in a new historical drama together!

On May 3, a source from the upcoming KBS 2TV drama “Thinking of the Moon When the Flower Blooms” (literal title) confirmed, “Yoo Seung Ho and Hyeri have been cast as the main characters Nam Young and Kang Ro Seo, respectively.”

The drama will take place during the period of the strongest prohibition laws in Joseon history, depicting human desire and proving that prohibition is not the best option. The main characters are an inspector from the Office of the Inspector-General who has left his hometown to achieve fame in the capital Hanyang and restore his family’s status, a poor aristocratic woman who begins to make alcohol in order to pay back her debt, and a crown prince who often secretly climbs over the walls of the palace to get a few drinks. The three people have a fateful encounter in front of a secret alcohol storage, gaining a secret that could lead to death if revealed.

Yoo Seung Ho will be playing the inspector Nam Young, who has outstanding visuals. He’s a figure who’d protect his beliefs and integrity even with a knife at his neck, and as the walking embodiment of the Four Books and Five Classics, he’s strict with his principles on others and on himself. As he ambitiously begins his new life in Hanyang, he meets the unpredictable Kang Ro Seo and falls into a state of great confusion. Viewers are anticipating Yoo Seung Ho’s performance in the upcoming drama since it’s his first time starring in a historical drama in four years since “Ruler: Master of the Mask.”

Hyeri will be taking on the role of Kang Ro Seo, who begins to make alcohol in order to pay back her debt. Contrary to her aristocratic appearance, she’s a figure who’s not afraid of working hard to make money. Though people talk behind her back about how she’s losing face as an aristocrat, she’s the real head of her household who’s helping to support her older brother, the family’s only hope. Having impressed with a variety of roles in the past, viewers are anticipating Hyeri’s upcoming transformation in the new historical drama.

Byun Woo Seok and Kang Mina have been offered roles in the drama, and their respective agencies revealed that they are reviewing the offers.

Director Hwang In Hyuk of “Doctor Prisoner” and screenwriter Kim Joo Hee will be working together on the drama. The production team shared, “We finished casting Yoo Seung Ho and Hyeri, who are very in sync with their characters in the drama. Please highly anticipate the sharp and bittersweet story, which is like the unrefined rice wine they’ll create. The meeting between PD (producing director) Hwang In Hyuk and the youthful stars Yoo Seung Ho and Hyeri, as well as a refreshing story with the prohibition period as its background—a production that outstandingly combines the three aspects of directing, acting, and concept will greet viewers in the second half of the year.”

“Thinking of the Moon When the Flower Blooms” held its script reading recently. The drama will begin filming in May, and it will air via KBS 2TV in the second half of this year.
