General Ling Bu Yi is steadfast both literary and military.  Loyal and Patriotic.  Devoted and Affectionate to the Ones he adored. The Prince Charming of countless women in the Capital.  In a Nutshell, he is the Dream Lover, Mr Right.

Its amazing how we see certain things in a drama and now that you mention them ,I took them for granted and was almost oblivious to them LOL.....Merci .   Everything that you pointed out now shows us the characters with their yin and yang especially respect for the hierarchy . You are a genius . I hope at least they have few episodes of glorious engagement before we deal with the chaos.

1) The Bridge Collapses.  (Ep 10)      The way General Ling Bu Yi understood Cheng Shao Shang's plot and helped her.

 

 

 

2) Hinting To Cheng Shao Shang's Parents At The Capital's Gate

3) His Farewell (Ep 19).  After Cheng Shao Shang got bethrothed to Luo Yao.  With the beautiful backdrop - "The Gingko Trees Lined Avenue".

 

The entire scene is so "Heartbreaking".  General Ling Bu Yi said: "I just remembered that I never earnestly listened to you playing the Flute since we know each other."

 

This is a perfect way of telling her, how late he is to be with her.

4) The Public Declaration Of Love At The Palace (Ep 24)

CSS: "General Ling.  The wife you get in the future will be a lot better than me.  I am stubborn since young.  I won't be educated and won't listen to you.  Will you still marry someone like me?

LBY: "Of course.  I never knew how wonderful I am to you.  Similarly, I am sure you don't know that in my eyes, Cheng Shao Shang is the Best Lady in the capital. 

Everyone says to marry a gentle and virtuous lady.  Madam Cheng is fierce in battle and doesn't lose to men on the battlefield.  But off the battlefield, you're also in love with General Cheng.  It's clear to see that every couple is different and not as everyone says.  

 

Shao Shang might not be an obedient lady in everyone's eyes.  But to me, she is the Whole Capital and the Whole World's Best Lady.  Indeed.  She is Pure and Decisive.  She dares to love and hate.  She is the Only One Who Can Walk Alongside Me In This World.  I Will Only Marry Her In My Life.

wetv is showing a preview of E28, so I am wondering if that means it will continue from E27 tonight. I've looked for updates the best I can online but can't seem to get a clue as to when part 2 will officially air. But the trailer for E28 was so swoony....my heart melted a whole lot more for our stern-faced general. And a piece of flat bread as an offering has taken on a whole new meaning in love...

Did I wish them  smooth sailing in their engagement haha   ...I should have remembered that the General never dated before and is totally clueless on what CSS likes, but since he was so 'desirable' for the rest of the ladies just the way he is,  he never needed to change or even contemplate change /smile.  Mind you during the  carriage ride he is asking CSS to talk and she is being honest,  so small steps ... I guess I am waiting for the hearts to start pulsing even though they barely know each other .

@jadore1   Yes.  That Scholar - Yuan Shan Jian.   He is so Scheming, Persistent, Rude and Obnoxious.  He has been bothering Cheng Shao Shang since the Lantern Festival.  I was so "Relieved"  when Cheng Shao Shang immediately returned his "Embroidered Ball".  Because accepting it meant she accepts him as her man.  More or less an unofficial betrothal.

 

Another "Viper" to watch out for is Luo Ji Tong, Colonel Chang Shui's  (Luo Zhu) daughter.  When General Ling Bu Yi carried  Cheng Shao Shang up to save her from the Broken Pieces of Porcelain in the Palace, Luo Ji Tong was watching with very well concealed Jealousy.

 

She was brought in by the Empress.  And has high hopes to marry General Ling Bu Yi herself.  So I figure, she will be a Vicious Threat to Cheng Shao Shang in future.

lol, they didn't even bother with Part 1 and Part 2, the episodes just continued with the numbering.

Last episode for VIPs will air on 30 August and for non-VIPs, 17 Sept. (Although they did indicate that it's the first episode of Part 2 via a label on Ep 28)

I just finished watching Eps 27 and 28.  Both episodes were interpersed with Humour.

 

Ep 27:

1) Actually Ling Bu Yi longs for a home of his own.  His own family is so dysfunctional.  So he wanted very much to integrate himself with Cheng Shao Shang's family.  

2) But he over did it. He insisted that the entire Cheng Family members including the Maids and Servants do military trainings everyday. (It was so Funny - LOL).  After that forbade them from consuming "Cold Drinks" saying it is bad for health.  Thus making everyone very uncomfortable.  

3) CSS felt so suppressed that she stealthily went out for a drinking spree with Wan Qi Qi. LBY had to piggy-back her home.  But the drunk CSS treated LBY as a Horse instead. So funny. 

4) The next day CSS wanted to call off the Wedding.

5) Her parents told her that if she really does not like LBY, they are willing to cancel the wedding. Resign from their posts and retire to farming in the countryside.

6) But alone to think over, CSS recalled all the Past Events where LBY had been so good to her, saved her so many times.  Just recently, even went hunting for a snake to make a Snake-Skin Shoe for her.  Most important the Wonderful Things he said about her at his Proposal in the Palace.  

 

So she ran to tell her Parents that she wanted the Marriage.

 

 

 

 

Ep 28:

1) LBY's leg was injured while saving Han Wu from assassins.  In the end Han Wu died from an Assassin's Poison Needle.

2) The cute emperor complained to Concubine Yue why CSS never come to take care of LBY.  Concubine Yue said that was because CSS did not know.

3) So the emperor summon CSS to the place.  And LBY again saved CSS from being slapped by Lady Wang Ling.   Again Luo Ji Tong was there and gave the well-concealed Jealous look.

4) But before Han Wu died, he told LBY that he had found the Physician who was at Gu City during the Massacre.  The physician told Han Wu that General Huo Chong's men sent to check the "Miasma" (a poisonous vapour), were not killed by the Miasma.  But by some assasins.

Marquis Yue who was in charge of the matter did not report it.  Instead he went direct to Lord Qian'an and asked him to delay the Reinforcement Forces.  So Marquis Yue was the one who stalled the Reinforcement Forces.  Resulting in the Massacre of Gu City. LBY will quietly investigate further to gather more evidences.

5) Anyway CSS came to the Palace and managed to clear the "Air" with her beloved LBY.  The wedding is "On".

6) The emperor quized CSS on whether she is good enough for LBY.  LBY came in to give CSS support.

7) In the end it was decided that LBY will fetch CSS to the palace everyday to train in Palace Etiquettes under Queen Xuan.

8) Meanwhile Madam Wen Xiu wanted to help her younger brother to do the Coin-Minting Business.  Madam Wen Xiu is the daughter of the late Lord Qian'an.  Wife to Wang Chun the Calvary-General, and mother to Lady Wang Ling.  And ultimately  Queen Xuan's cousin.  

Her father, the Late Lord Qian'an had died in the battle to help Emperor Wen to the throne. So Madam Wen Xiu always felt that Emperor Wen is indebted to them.

Her younger brother, young Qian'an is with Official Peng Kun. Official Peng Kun is as old at Madam Wen Xiu's husband.  Peng Kun had save the late Lord Qian'an from the poisonous Miasma by carrying him away on his back.  He is now crippled and suffering from Asthma. 

Madam Wen Xiu and her younger brother are indebted to him.  Now his envoy is asking for Lady Wang Ling to be married to Official Peng Kun. 

Both Emperor and Lord Qian'an were from the same Clan.  Same Surname.  So Madam Wen Xiu cannot be married to Emperor Wen.   Lord Qian'an then insisted that if his Niece (the current Queen Xuan) was made Queen, he will support the current Emperor in his battle against the former Emperor Li.  

In order to rule the world, Emperor Wen needed the support of aristocratic families.  The Xuan family was the most powerful family among them, at that time.

 

So Queen Xuan will be implicated soon.

Just finished watching episode 27 and 28. So part 1 about CSS finally willingly accept LBY. And now in part 2, they will start their love journey. I thought we will face about CP's matters that will affect the Queen.

 

I'm waiting for episode 34 so much.. I wanna see how That Queen Ruyang and LBY's step mom will be shamed because LBY come with The Emperor and King Ruyang.

My only gripe with this drama is that the ep. run way too short LoL. I hope this drama won't disappoint as I was with "A Dream of Splendour' 'cause that too was addictive for first 20-something ep. and I ended up dropping it after....

    I'm kind of annoyed at Shao Shang LoL I'm not sure if it's 'cause she's still so very young but she just come across flip-floppy? Like she is too impulsive and stubborn as heck LoL! 

    So it was awesome that Bu Yi reached out first to Shao Shang in ep. 28 and made truce - with food no doubt. My kind of guy ha-ha. Just wished Shao Shang would do the same as poor guy is out on a limb here.

    Ugh another enemy is lying dormant - the Wang family... Ooh boy LoL. I liked his suggestion that his bride can return home & that he'd bring her to the palace for her "lessons" - very wise indeed Bu Yi. It is kinda like how UK's Prince William had his wife Kate prepare her role for the royals LoL.

 

Well Shao Shang g'luck girl you're going to need it. But with Bu Yi by your side... you're in good hands.

Eps 29 & 30 were all about Palace Politics.  We are getting to know about Who's Who there.  I love the interactions between Empress Xuan and Cheng Shao Shang.  At last CSS gets a "Mother" she never had.

 

Ep 29:

1) Ling Bu Yi is a good judge of a person's character.  In Ep 28, Cheng Shao Shang complained about Lady Wang Ling to the Emperor.  LBY can immediately sensed that CSS is sounding out the Emperor and Empress.  To see how they will treat her.

2) First Kiss. Before sending CSS home, LBY took her to the Watch Tower.  He kissed her on her Forehead, right in front of the soldiers on duty.

3) CSS was overwhelmed.  Still in a daze back home.  

4) While LBY himself cannot sleep till early Dawn.  His poor assistant had to accompany him.  They were still sleepy the next morning, when they went to fetch CSS 

5) The first person we get to know better is Madam Wen Xiu.  She still cannot get over the past glory of her family.  Still thinking that Emperor Wen owed her family.  Knowing that Empress Xuan is a softie, she came to bully her.  CSS stood up for the Empress.

6) In Ep 29, we get to know that Marquis Yue is Consort Yue's brother.  Another evil and corrupted person. He is the one who failed to report about the "Miasma" and responsible for advising Lord Qian-an to "stall" the despatch of the Reinforcement Forces to Gu City.  Lord Qian-an died in the Gu City Massacre too.   

Marquis Yue and his wife, brought up 3rd Princess.  Which is why 3rd Princess is so Arrogant and Materialistic.

 

Ep 30:

1) LBY advised CSS to mind her own business in the palace.  But as we know, CSS is stubborn.  She has to learn the hard way.

2) So it was Marquis Yue who instigated the silly Madam Wen Xiu to indulge in the Coin-Minting business.  It will be Fake Coins.  He and 3rd Princess will spend the Fake Coins.  But Madam Wen Xiu and her younger brother, Lord Qian-An Junior will bear the brunt should the Emperor finds out later.

3) CSS was bullied by 3rd Princess and her maids.  Saved by Consort Chu (Crown Prince's wife)

4) The Crown Prince is a Weakling.  Not suitable to be the next emperor.  He surrounds himself with incapable "Cronies" - from his wife's Clan.

5) Unlike her daughter, the 3rd Princess,  Consort Yue is a good person.  

6) The 3rd Prince looks more capable to me.

7) So we have the Death Anniversary for LBY's father, General Huo Chong.  Lady Ruyang (Princess Yu Chang's grandmother) came to make trouble but was put in her place by Consort Yue.  

Lady Ruyang is just another Madam Wen Xiu.  Bragged about feeding Emperor Wen when he was poor and struggling.  But actually it was General Huo Chong who took care of the Emperor.

I especially love Consort Yue's last sentence to LBY:  "If anyone doubts your bride, ignore their foolish attempt".   She was awesome.  No wonder Emperor Wen loves her.

 

One by one, all the "Snakes" are being revealed.  But no words on Marquis Cheng Yang or Ling Yi yet.  It makes me even more Convinced that he is the Ultimate Culprit of the Massacre of Gu City and therefore the Death of Ling Bu Yi's father - General Huo Chong.

 

I'm sure Ling Bu Yi knows he is not his father.  Because I remember in one episode LBY was watching the entire Massacre from his hiding place.

In all seriousness, Consort Yue is a force to be reckoned with! While the Empress was elegant and discreet... Consort Yue took it up to the next level LoL! What a girl crush. How did she end up with a brat as third princess though?! tsk. tsk. tsk.

    I LOVED & APPLAUDED in everythin' she said LoL. No one was spared from her savagery LoL. It was so damn satisfying.. Yu Chang's a nun ahahahah!!! 

    Bu Yi reassures his bride that he has her back was (sigh dreamily) what a man. I just can't with the Emperor's reaction as he sat back and let Consort Yue rip through everyone LMFAo. He was like "where's my popcorn??". Ugh next week seem too far a wait huhuhu~

@jadore1 That is a facts.  Not a myth.   In the olden days of China, because of Wars and Hardships, the Chinese Females were capable of great exploits.  Which was why they have the famous  Female "General Hua Mu Lan".

 

I have forgotten the name of one Historical Period C-Drama, where a Pregnant Chinese Female Warrior (A Real Historical Figure.  Not Fictional)  was fighting alongside her Husband in a War till her Baby Boy came out.  The Blood from one of the Notorious Enemy she killed was Splashed on her Belly - A Bad Omen.  She is One Tough Lady.  She knew it was Bad Luck and wanted to "Kill Off" the newly-bornt Infant.

 

But her Husband was a more Gentle Soul and stopped her.  So the Baby Boy grew up to be an Incorrigible, useless man who brought endless troubles and Misfortunes to the Family.
