It’s almost like he read an imperial edict that all must stoically accept.

I think in ep 27 (at least what I could see /understand from the trailer) CSS lamenting on exchanging one parent for another ...her mother and YBY seem to have it in their little minds that they can guide our girl and she is resisting LOL Cheers

I know i should be happy on ep 24, but instead it bought tears to my eyes watching the Cheng Parents interact with the Emperor and CSS. Why? Isn't this a happy event? Is it too early? CSS still don't understand what is love between a couple?

God, I couldn't follow the relationship of the royal family and who belongs on who's side. Too confusing! Did anyone else have the same issue.

Er--as happy as I was over Gen. Ling's proposal.. Idk couldn't he at least waited LoL? But he's probably used to makin' hasty decisions due to bein' on many battlefields etc.

It was unfair for Shao Shang but at the same time it also clears the air for the other vipers at the palace that Shao Shang is his woman and not to be messed with. So I'm mixed ha-ha!

In typical Chinese mom fashion, Shao Shang's mom threw her daughter under the bus in front of everyone at the palace. Yikes. She's a bit of a hypocrite no LoL? She claims her own daughter is stubborn and unruly but imo her mom isn't that refined either! Her words were harsh. Ouch.

I can see why Gen. Ling is so taken by Shao Shang's charms as they both come from dysfunctional families. Although in Shao Shang's case, she does have a better support system in comparison to Bu Yi.

Oh I lost count of the many times Bu Yi has carried Shao Shang eheheh! And my goodness the way he looks at her though...

The other so-called princesses who proudly claim to be of better breeding, are even far worse than Shao Shang. I can see why Bu Yi dislikes these noble women as they just wish to be trophy wives and are so.. boring. Yuan was annoying in trying to come between the otp as well..

Bu Yi is always impulsive when it comes to Shao Shang. The fact that another prince proposed to Shao Shang in front of him may have triggered his urgency to propose.

I imagine if Shao Shang personally declined, Bu Yi wouldn't push for the marriage.

I love how Bu Yi sees the best in Sho Shang. Yes she may appear to be unruly, but all her actions have valid reasons. she is brave, have strong values, smart and upfront. No one need to second guess how Shao Shang is feeling.

From what I understand of the dynamics during the ‘Royal family meal’, Crown Prince is a nice and gentle person. 3rd Prince who is son of Royal Consort Yue (Yue Fei) is critical of Crown Prince being weak, and thinks he is not the right person to rule as the next Emperor. Fifth Prince is born by a lowly consort, and acts somewhat like a clown and thus is not highly regarded by his Emperor father. 3rd Princess is daughter of Yue Fei, in love with LBY but is already married off to relative of Empress. 5th princess is daughter of Empress, also in love with LBY but she is now bethrothed to be married to relative of Yue Fei. The Emperor hopes that by cross marrying within the families of the Empress and Yue Fei, there will be harmony across the Royal Family. I noticed other princesses present but because they didn’t speak much, I haven’t figured them out yet. Hope this helps.

Our Shao Shang is still a baby  :cookie: ...ep23 @28)  she is only 15 , almost 16  ...compared to the parasite princesses she has lived already through almost raising herself , engagement and mature and guiding end of the same, parental absence and expectations, war in the country and stepping in fearlessly to offer help and be responsible .  So maybe she may not repeat like a parrot certain saintly teachings that are confusing , she has managed to carve and serve her reality with utmost diligence . I can see why LBY would value her and love her for exactly who she is and how she is - pure unpolished diamond .   As for Mama , I honestly think that she knows what a wiper's nest awaits her (and her treatment by the royals in such a short time showed us ) so she tried to discredit her in the eyes of the crown, but it backfired , or maybe not ...what Mama said is nothing in comparison what the little worms were sprouting , but that type of scorn and setback is nothing new for CSS and LBY so they do what they have always done, fight and rise above their foe . So Happy Engagement to CSS and YBL

Started two episodes.... i feel the drama is slow... sigh.  Hope it will get better... will it?

Same here..may be too much talking, and as a result scenes are slow. I've decided to leave it for a while and get back after part 1 finishes airing, than to try it in one go.

I just started watching "Love Like A Galaxy" 3 days ago.  Because I was watching another drama.  I just finished Ep 24.

My Honest Opinions:

1) Eps 1 - 8 are a bit Slow and Monotonous.  They should make it Faster and More Impactful. More Exciting.  So it is not surprising if some Viewers find them laborious and have the urge to give up. It was the same with me.

2) The Senior Actors and Actresses are doing well.  Niao Niao's (Cheng Shao Shang) Grandmother is also a Good Singer, in real life.  I'm especially impressed by the acting of the Female Assistant of Niao Niao's mother.  Very natural.  Wan Qi Qi is a nice Lady and a Good Friend to have.  I love her.

3) For me, something is "Missing" from the Leading Actor And Actress.  It is Obvious both are doing their Level Best.

Leo Wu (As Ling Bu Yi):

As the Lead Actor, I was waiting for his First Appearance on the Screen.  I expect it to be Impactful. As is normally the case with Actors of Calibre.  But it didn't happen.

For me, it was just a normal performance.  I'm sure it is Sufficient enough for you all.  Different viewers look for different things.  So I hope you all will not hate me for saying this.  I meant No Malice.  It is just an Honest Appraisal from me.

I can see that Leo is doing his best:  to look Stern and Imposing as a Successful, Military General who comes from an Unhappy Family and Background.  But he misses it.  I'm sure if he continues to work hard, he may reach that level in future.

4) Zhao Lu Si (Cheng Shao Shang):

I will not say much.  Her performance is just slightly better than Leo.

5) Niao Niao's Mother - Xiao Yuan Yi: Most viewers say her approach towards Niao Niao is wrong.  But I would like to say something different.  From real life, I have seen a lot of cases where if the Child does not grow up with the Parents, the Parents will not have the Maternal or Paternal feelings for the Child.  And nothing will change that.  They will find fault with everything the Child does or Is. (But luckily for Niao Niao, her Father loves her).

6) I did not read the Synopsis or the earlier posts.  No time to do so.  But by eps 19, 20, I can already deduce that Marquis Chengyang and his Crazy Wife are not Ling Bu Yi's Biological Parents.  General Huo Chong is Ling Bu Yi's Father.

I also have a feeling that Marquis Chengyang may have something to do with  the non-arrival of the Reinforcement Army for General Huo Chong, thus leading to his Death and all of his soldiers.  Or simply put - the Massacre of Gu City.  (I may be Wrong.  But I get this strong feelings).

Of course, another reason were the Inferior Weapons.  Because Lord Yong stole  the Genuine Weapons to sell for Money.

7) Niao Niao & Luo Yao:  The Annulment of their Marriage is a Blessing to Niao Niao.  Clearly, Niao Niao's Destiny is meant for Greater Things.  So this is to be expected.

8) One of my Favourite Scenes:

When Niao Niao and her mother went to annul her Marriage with Luo Yao.   Xiao Yuan Yi slapped Madam Luo from the First Chamber.  Niao Niao slapped her daughter.  Both Niao Niao and her Mother stood with their Hands Akimbo.  (Xiao Yuan Yi did not realise that her daughter is just like her.  And together they can accomplish Great Things).

9) My Final Point:  When Gen Ling Bu Yi proposes to Marry Niao Niao at the Palace.

Niao Niao's mother is Wrong to "Trash" Niao Niao in front of the Royal Family.  Which Respectable Family will dare to allow their Sons to marry her in Future?  She already suffered the Iqnominy of having a  Marriage Cancelled.  Even though the Reason is Noble.  But will People cares when they Gossip?

I doubt Xiao Yuan Yi is petrified by the Palace Politics.  Afterall General Ling Bu Yi is not the Emperor's Biological Son. Just an Adopted one.  So he may be crushed by the Royals.  On the other hand Ling Bu Yi's Family is so dyfunctional.  But I am not interested in whatever reasons she may have.  Look at the way she replied when Niao Niao asked : "What if it is Yang Yang?" . She said she will Not Worry if it is Yang Yang. Which means she is simply dissatisfied with her own daughter.  She plans for Yang Yang to marry a Prince.  But not for her own daughter. To me, Xiao Yuan Yi is Trash.

She knew Cheng Shao Shang was not well-educated and brought up.  But she herself has No Desire to educate her.  I believe she does not want her Niao Niao to marry into a Prestigeous Family, for fear that if she did not handle herself well, they (the Cheng Family) will be implicated - SELFISH.  She wants to marry Niao Niao off to a Simple, Ordinary Family.

I'm Glad that General Ling Bu Yi came to Niao Niao's Defence.  I'm glad that General Ling Bu Yi told Niao Niao's mother Not To Interrupt When He Speaks.  I'm glad that General Ling Bu Yi complimented Niao Niao Sky-High.  Although I was Dismayed when he kept Silent at first.  Maybe it was the Script's intention to allow Niao Niao's mother to go first.  I'm Glad that Niao Niao accepted General Ling's Marriage Proposal.

P/S: I smell a Clandestine Rival and Saboteur in Luo Ji Tong,  Colonel Chang Shui's (Luo Zhu) Daughter who was brought into the Palace by the Empress.  How about you all?

It depends on what you prefer to watch in general). I'm currently watching

Spoiler

Immortal Samsara (I like it, but many people not, so it's better to check it yourself to make an opinion)and Alchemy of Souls (costume martial arts kdrama, pretty good), also finished modern kdrama Remarriage and Desire (great stuff IMO; I missed it when it was airing, so just catching up a bit here, hehe).

Since we have to wait for One More Day before we can feast ourselves on Ep 25, 26, let me make another Comment.  So that together we can have something to discuss.

I want to talk a bit about General Ling Bu Yi:

General Ling Bu Yi is steadfast both literary and military.  Loyal and Patriotic.  Devoted and Affectionate to the Ones he adored. The Prince Charming of countless women in the Capital.  In a Nutshell, he is the Dream Lover, Mr Right.

That he is drawn towards Cheng Shao Shang (Niao Niao) is inevitable.  Although the two have different growth experiences, they both have Childhood Shadows.

Cheng Shao Shang is a "Left-Behind Child" whose parents were not around since childhood.  While General Ling Bu Yi witnessed the Slaughter of his entire family, as a child.

In the end, the two of them redeemed each other in both directions:

-  Their emotions went both ways.

-  They could understand the Pain in Each Other's Heart.

General Ling Bu Yi was bornt in a Famous Family and received the Emperor's Mercy and Love.   Though still young, he is already a Veteran in the Battlefield, and was named Deputy Lieutenant of Guang Lu Xun.

But while watching this Drama, I could not help but have a Premonition.  That he has an obvious Achilles' Heel.  And if he did not change himself, he would suffer a Big Loss eventually.

Scenario One:  Public Disobedience

The Emperor once complained privately, that there were so many Memorials to Impeach General Ling Bu Yi.  But they were all suppressed by him.  Most of the Ministers  never stop trying to catch a Flaw in General Ling.  By being Disobedient, General Ling is giving them the "Handle".

We saw that when General Ling Bu Yi first appeared on the Screen.  Everyone greeted his Triumphant Return outside the Gate of the Capital.  Then asked him to change into the Royal Uniform to enter the palace to seek audience with the Emperor.

But he bluntly said he had an important case to deal with.  After he had done that he  will seek the Emperor's pardon.

This was a Serious Crime against the Imperial Decree.  The Ministers could use it to impeach him.  Fortunately, the emperor was a sensible person.

Scenario Two: Private Execution of Lord Yong

The Emperor has good intentions to let Lord Yong go. After all, he was an old official who used to fight the world with him.

But General Ling Bu Yi killed Lord Yong.  Then claim that he had committed suicide.  When the emperor found out he was furious.  If the emperor did not pity him as the Only Descendant of the Huo Family, the consequences would be different.

Scenario Three: General Ling Bu Yi's Attitude towards Cheng Shao Shang's Parents

He likes Cheng Shao Shang.  But this "Love" does not include her parents.

He met the Cheng Family at the Gate of the Capital when the "Cheng's" returned from Hua County. Cheng Shi (Niao Niao's father) and he himself were both officials and generals.  By right Ling Bu Yi should communicate with him.

But Ling Bu Yi just casually said "Hello" to Cheng Shi and then approached Cheng Shao Shang's carriage and spoke to her only.  And then had the Gateway cleared and personally "Escorted Them" to enter the Capital.

This aroused the suspicions of Xiao Yuan Yi and she began to "Interrogate" Chang Shao Shang at home.

On another occasion, Cheng Shao Shang and her mother went to Lou's House to discuss their Marriage. When they travelled back to their house, they met General Ling Bu Yi by chance.   (It was Clear that the Encounter was deliberately created by General LBY).

General Ling Bu Yi should speak to Xiao Yuan Yi first.  Since she was the Elder.  But General Ling Bu Yi only had "Eyes" on Cheng Shao Shang.   He told her: "The city is not peaceful.  So Mrs Cheng should not go out".   (Xiao Yuan Yi's face instantly turned "embarrassed" and "indignant").

So I am not surprised that Xiao Yuan Yi (Niao Niao's Mother) strongly opposed General Ling Bu Yi when he proposed Marriage later on.  Fortunately General Ling had the Emperor's support.

General Ling Bu Yi only had Eyes for the One he loves.  He is Arrogant to those he does not care for.  He did not even try to make a Superficial Effort.

The Emperor can protect him.  But for how long?

When all the Auras on the Emperor have faded, if General Ling Bu Yi still acts like this, he will be courting trouble upon himself.

Hi hi.... i just read that A Dream of Splendour is good.. maybe will try that...

Alchemy of Souls,  saw it but didnt continue it after ep4, not sure why... LJW probably is too skinny for me... haha...

I might check out Remarriage and Desire... thanks...

It takes 10 episodes to get the drama moving? I dont like the monologue the lead actress has with herself, esp with the absent parents; i understand her resentment but overall the first two episodes seemed slow.m. hmm.. will see if j will pick it up..:D

Honestly I was bored to death with Dream of Splendour and dropped it... however most of people find it to be the best 2022 drama so far. Would love to know your opinion on it:)

I just finished watching Eps 25 and 26:

I love Ep 25.  General Ling Bu Yi and Cheng Shao Shang attended the Wedding of Luo Yao and Lady Ancheng (Zhao Jun).  As usual the Ladies - Lady Wang Ling and Luo Yao cousin sister, Luo Li (Daughter of Lady Luo from 1st Chamber) started to insinuate that CSS got bethrothed so fast right after cancelling her Betrothal with Luo Yao.  Said CSS must have seduced General LBY.   Both of them must have had an affair before.

Luo Yao's elder sister-in-law alerted General LBY and he came to teach the Gossipy Ladies a Lesson.  Nobody can bully his girl.

Ep 26 is a bit slow and dull.

1) General LBY and CSS rode home in LBY's carriage.  CSS was talking about Equality in Marriage when General LBY was called away to attend to something urgent.

2) Marquis Cheng Yang's 2nd wife pretended to be sick.  Therefore the Dowries were not sent.  CSS's grandmother was worried - about the Dowries of course.

3) Lady Ruyang (Princess Yu Chang's grandmother) said she will ask the Emperor to annul the Marriage.  But a maid came in to inform them that General LBY had asked the Emperor to arranged his Marriage instead.  Quoting the reason that he  is Fatherless.  While mother is Sick.

4) At the behest of Lady Ruyang, Lord Ruyang went to see CSS and tried to disrupt her impending marriage to General LBY.  He accused CSS of using General LBY to climb up the social ladder.  But he ended up being won over by CSS instead.

5) Back home, Lord Ruyang lost his cool and slapped Princess Yu Chang instead.  Telling both Lady Ruyang and Princess Yu Chang off.  They were caught by surprise.

6) General Ling Bu Yi went with his 2 assistants to look for the missing Han Wu in Western Village.  Han Wu is one of his father - General Huo Chong's surviving soldier.  15 years ago, Han Wu was sent by General Huo Chong to look for Reinforcement Army.  And therefore was not slaughtered in Gu City.

7) General LBY found Han Wu's clue : 2 long stick and 2 short sticks mean Han Wu is still alive but in hiding.

8) General LBY rushed back to personally deliver the Wedding Dowries to CSS.

9) The Cheng Family was having Lunch.  And General LBY joined them for Lunch.  CSS's materialist grandmother was delighted and came in to smoulder General LBY.

10) Everybody was feeling awkward by General LBY's presence.  LBY tried to Break the Ice by telling a Joke.  But nobody laughs at his Joke.

Ep 26 ended this way.....
