Synopsis:

The young Cheng Shao Shang was left behind because her parents had gone off to fight in the war. In order to protect herself from her scheming aunt and an indifferent grandmother (who favours males), she had to stand up for herself while pretending to be defenseless and innocent. Fifteen years later, the parents return home, however, after years of estrangement it is difficult for Shao Shang to warm up to her family.

 

Lacking love her whole life, Cheng Shao Shang is both pragmatic and insecure in choosing a partner for marriage. She encounters three men - the emperor's adopted son Ling Bu Yi, the talented Yuan Shen of Bailu Mountain, and the aristocrat Lou Yao who each have their pros and cons. Although the road to love is bumpy, she never regrets every choice she makes. Through her interactions with Ling Bu Yi, she unintentionally becomes involved in the mystery surrounding his family and his identity. The two grow from their experiences and worked together, upholding the righteousness in their hearts to resolve a national crisis.

Since from what we can see from the posters the drama quality, I suppose, should be not lower than The Court Lady  or The Long Ballad. The Long Ballad, for example, wrapped filming at the end of July 2020 and came out at 31 March, 2021 so it took them approx. 8 months.

Based on the news circulating around, because of the supposed Japanese-looking costumes (making the headlines for another drama that's airing) which has riled up Chinese sentiments , posters and footage of this drama had to quickly go back to post-production to remove questionable elements of the costume. Netizens are questioning the authenticity of costumes in the other drama, AND apparently that issue has spilled over to this drama as well. If you notice in the poster below, Zhao Lu Si's costume has a ribbon like thingie behind her, which has never (apparently) appeared in any Chinese apparel. So, the poor post-production team have had to burn the midnight oil to wipe out all evidence.
