Plot

 

Drama Those Who Read Hearts of Evil tells the story of people who pursue serial killers.

 

 

Notes

 

• “Those Who Read Hearts of Evil” is based on a book of the same name that was co-penned by Kwon Il Yong and Go Na Moo. The story is about the South Korea’s first criminal profiler Kwon Il Yong and focus on those who chase serial killers, rather than the serial killers themselves. It deals with the beginnings of criminal profilers in Korea who had to look inside the hearts of monstrous criminals during a time when the word “profiling” did not exist and the idea of a “psychopath” was not widely known. Profiler Kwon Il Yong became a police officer in 1989 and the first criminal profiler in Korea in 2000. He is known for profiling several infamous criminals such as Yoo Young Chul and Jung Nam Gyu.

Character descriptions

 

Song Ha-yeong (Kim Nam Gil) is a profiler of the criminal behavior analysis team of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency’s Scientific Investigation of Criminal Behavior Analysis team. Although Song Ha Young appears to lack emotions, he’s a figure who reads more deeply into humans than anyone else.

 

Yoon Tae Goo (Kim So Jin) is the team leader of the Mobile Investigation Unit at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency. Yoon Tae Goo uses her animal-like instincts to perceive cases, and she’s known as a legend in the world of handling violent crimes.

 

Kook Young-su (Jin Seon-gyu) is the leader of the Criminal Behavior Analysis Team. A person who is not swayed by authority and formality. He realized the need to analyze criminal behavior, and after long planning, he creates the Criminal Behavior Analysis team.

Kim Nam Gil In Discussion To Star In New Thriller Drama As Criminal Profiler

On May 4, OSEN reported that Kim Nam Gil was cast as the main character of the new crime thriller drama “Those Who Read Hearts of Evil” (literal title).

The actor’s agency Gilstory ENT clarified, “It is correct that Kim Nam Gil received an offer to star in the new drama ‘Those Who Read Hearts of Evil,’ but nothing is confirmed. Kim Nam Gil has been receiving offers for many productions as his next project after confirming his appearance in ‘Island,’ and ‘Those Who Read Hearts of Evil’ is one of the scenarios he is reviewing.” If he accepts the offer, Kim Nam Gil will play a profiler who looks deep into the human mind.

“Those Who Read Hearts of Evil” is based on a book of the same name that was co-penned by Kwon Il Yong and Go Na Moo. It will tell the story of South Korea’s first criminal profiler Kwon Il Yong and focus on those who chase serial killers, rather than the serial killers themselves. OSEN reports that Kim Nam Gil will film “Island” after wrapping up this drama, as “Island” has been pushed back and will be filmed in the second half of this year.

Kim Nam-Gil is cast for the lead role in SBS drama series “Those Who Read Hearts of Evil” (literal title). Kim So-Jin Joins The Cast of ‘Those Who Read Hearts of Evil’?

 

 

Korean Drama, Those Who Read Hearts of Evil has started sending proposals for the leading castings. They have sent their proposal to Kim So-Jin for Yoon Tae Goo’s role and Kim Nam Gil for Kwon Il Yong’s role. Kim So-Jin is recently courted for joining the Those Who Read Hearts of Evil. However, she is still yet to answer the same. The same is the case for Kim Nam Gil, as he has yet to respond to the lead casting call for the drama. Seol Yi-na is scripting the drama. The drama is scheduled for release in the second half of 2021.

So-Jin started her career in acting through theatre stage. Movies like 2013’s The Terror Live and 2017’s The King lead her to stardom. She also received the Best Supporting Actress in South Korea’s top acting awards for her role in The King, including Baeksang Arts Awards, Blue Dragon Film Awards, and Grand Bell Awards. Furthermore, she is scheduled for appearing in Emergency Declaration, a catastrophe movie of Song Kang-Ho. But, she does not have many television series, except one, 2016’s Marriage Contract. It will be her second appearance in Tv series if she accepts the role.  

 

Kim So-Jin courted for Joining Those Who Read Hearts of Evil

Kim So-Jin is already courted for joining as a cast in a brand new drama, Those Who Read Hearts of Evil. Chosun, a Korean media outlet, released the information about the actress in the midst of talking as a cast of Those Who Read Hearts of Evil. The drama will premier on the SBS network. The show is mainly based on the identical title’s e-book that depicts the first prison profiler of South Korea, Kwon Il-Yong’s story. It will depict prison profiling’s rise and development in an era when psychopaths and profiling are not familiar ideas. 

In the drama, Kim Soo-Jin has been asked to fill the role of mobile investigative team’s head of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency. The team consists of some hot-headed male officers. However, she will be one of the women among them. She also takes a balanced view for looking at each case and trusts the analysis of the criminal profiler. However, there is no information or news if she has accepted the role or not. Kim Soo-Jin will play the character of Yoon Tae Goo if she accepts the role. 

 

There is also no revelation of other casts, apart from the male lead. A proposal for playing has been sent to Kim Nam-Gil from The Fiery Priest. However, he too is in talks and under consideration for taking up the role. He will be in the analysis team of the forensic criminal behavior criminal profiler. Moreover, his agency confirmed the receiving of the proposal. But, nothing is determined yet from their side. The actor gave his confirmation in March for the upcoming show, Island. After that, he has been receiving many offers and is in the process of reviewing.

Kim Nam-gil (Fiery Priest) will be starring in an upcoming SBS drama called Those Who Read Hearts of Evil. Based on a 2018 novel written by Korea’s first criminal profiler Kwon Il-yong and author Go Na-moo, this drama is a crime thriller centered around behavioral profilers who try to “read the hearts” of serial killers.

In this new project, Kim Nam-gil will be playing the main role of Song Ha-young, a profiler who knows how to understand people and their intentions better than anyone else. I have faith that Kim Nam-gil will create a perfect Song Ha-young persona, showing the character’s cold charisma and doggedness in criminal pursuit.

Filming for Those Who Read Hearts of Evil will begin as soon as casting finishes. It looks like Island, the previous project Kim Nam-gil was confirmed for, has been pushed back (potentially due to Seo Ye-ji having dropped out a few weeks back and the need to cast a new actress). As of now, Kim Nam-gil is still attached to the project so we’re in for a Nam-gil-full year.

Actor Ryeowoon will appear in the new SBS drama 'Those who read the minds of evil' (written by Seol or directed by Park Boram).

Actor Jung Soon-won joined the role of 'Nam Il-young' in the new SBS drama 'Those who read the minds of evil'.
