New posters have been released for JTBC’s upcoming drama “Thirty-Nine”!

The drama featuring Son Ye Jin, Jeon Mi Do, and Kim Ji Hyun is about three friends all on the brink of turning 40. “Thirty-Nine” follows the lives of Cha Mi Jo (Son Ye Jin), Jung Chan Young (Jeon Mi Do), and Jang Joo Hee (Kim Ji Hyun) and will show stories about friendship, love, and their day-to-day life experiences. Previously, the first trailer showed the great chemistry between the actresses, illustrating the strong connection between these friends of 20 years.

Three new posters have been released showcasing each of the leads individually. The actresses stand happily in front of pretty foliage with sunshine streaming down on them, evoking a lighthearted and fun mood.

The text on Cha Mi Jo’s poster reads, “Together with you who I love,” while Jung Chan Young’s poster includes the phrase, “A brightly shining moment.” Jang Joo Hee’s poster includes the words, “A new start.”

'Thirty, Nine' is a real human romance drama that deals with the deep story of friendship, love, and life of three friends who are about to turn 40. It will be approached with a sympathetic story depicting the daily lives of three friends, Cha Mi-jo (Son Ye-jin), Jeong Chan-yeong (Jeon Mi-do), and Jang Joo-hee (Kim Ji-hyun), who will face a very special 39 years. 

The character Jang Joo-hee, played by Ji-hyeon Kim, is a department store cosmetic manager and is the most gentle and pure of the three friends. Compared to Cha Mi-jo and Jeong Chan-young, she has a timid side, but she has an unexpected side that is sometimes shown through her actions.

“Thirty-Nine” follows the lives of Cha Mi Jo (Son Ye Jin), Jung Chan Young (Jeon Mi Do), and Jang Joo Hee (Kim Ji Hyun) all on the brink of turning 40. It will show stories about friendship, love, and their day-to-day life experiences.

Kim Ji Hyun’s character Jang Joo Hee is a department store cosmetics manager. Out of the three friends, she’s the one with the softest and purest heart. Compared to Cha Mi Jo and Jung Chan Young, she has a timid nature, but sometimes, she unexpectedly shows bold actions.

In particular, Jang Joo Hee’s biggest charm is her lovely personality and random eccentricity. She’s a lovable character, but the truth is, she’s never been in a proper relationship before. It will be interesting to find out what is interfering with her love life.

The newly released stills highlight Jang Joo Hee’s sweet and wholesome disposition. Her sparkling eyes are filled with warmth, and she has a bright grin that makes others smile with her. We seem to be swimming in promos these days and JTBC’s upcoming Thirty-Nine is no exception — the drama has steadily released new posters, stills, and a video teaser over the last week.

 

In a story about life, friendship, and love, Thirty-Nine stars Sohn Ye-jin (Crash Landng on You), Jeon Mi-do (Hospital Playlist 2), and Kim Ji-hyun (Artificial City) as three best friends who battled through their twenties and thirties at each others’ sides. At age 39, they’re now heading towards their forties together as well, and they prepare to face a new chapter in their lives.

In the new promos, we also get our first look at the men in drama: Sohn’s colleague and fellow dermatologist Yeon Woo-jin (Undercover), talent agency CEO Lee Moo-saeng (The Silent Sea), and restaurant owner Lee Tae-hwan (Secret Royal Investigator).

 

 

The teaser begins with a montage of the three friends spending time together and having fun. Sohn announces her intentions to go abroad and Jeon doesn’t take the news well. After raging at Sohn Ye-jin and a student at work, Jeon Mi-do meets with Lee Moo-saeng and firmly turns him down. The three women then reconvene at a restaurant, where they stare with interest at Lee Tae-hwan. Kim orders a drink and becomes so tipsy that she mistakenly tries to pay with a keycard instead of her credit card.

The teaser then cuts to Jeon Mi-do and Kim Ji-hyun getting excited about Sohn Ye-jin’s romance with Yeon Woo-jin, and Sohn chases after them when they steal her phone. We see Yeon drunkenly confessing his feelings to Sohn Ye-jin and the two have a cute date playing video games. The teaser comes to a close as we jump back to the three best friends having a night in, and they play rock-paper-scissors to decide who pays for the food.

Written by Yoo Young-ah (Boyfriend) and directed by PD Kim Sang-ho (Run On), JTBC’s Thirty-Nine premieres February 16.
