The first released video shows the innocence of Cha Mi-jo (played by Son Ye-jin), who is having fun with the children in the flying soap bubbles, and the reversal begins with the narration, “We are about to turn forty, nothing has changed.” Opens the daily life of the missing thirty-nine. The scenes of people holding each other's hair and fighting explosively, interlocking with the lines, provokes laughter. 

Even at the age of forty, the first meeting is trembling and romance is thrilling, and the thirty-nine of the three friends, Mi-Jo Cha, Chan-Young Jeong (Mi-Do Jeon), and Joo-Hee Jang (Ji-Hyeon Kim), are full of life like a 19-year-old high school girl. A sympathetic laugh bursts out at the mischievous scenes, such as obsessively overhearing a friend's phone call with a sultry vibe, and breaking the atmosphere with nausea next to a friend who is enjoying a romantic situation.

JTBC has shared a new sneak peek of its upcoming drama “Thirty-Nine”!

“Thirty-Nine” is about three friends who met in their second year of high school and are now on the verge of turning 40. The drama will tell the beautiful and emotional everyday stories of three 39-year-old women who encounter unforeseen circumstances in their lives.

Son Ye Jin plays Cha Mi Jo, the head dermatologist of a clinic in Gangnam. Jeon Mi Do takes the role of Jung Chan Young, an acting teacher who previously dreamed of becoming an actress, and Kim Ji Hyun stars as Jang Joo Hee, a department store cosmetics manager.

The newly released teaser highlights the strong bond between the three friends as Cha Mi Jo says in a voice-over, “We’re 39-years-old. We met when we were 18. This is the story of those days when we laughed and cried a lot.”

Meanwhile, Kim Sun Woo (Yeon Woo Jin) appears in Cha Mi Jo’s life, previewing a new beginning full of romance. The two hold hands as they take a walk under the night sky. Kim Sun Woo runs into Cha Mi Jo’s arms, and Jung Chan Young hilariously says, “I’m loving the fast-paced romance.”

Kim Sun Woo also expresses his love for Cha Mi Jo as he cutely writes on a golf ball, “Nice shot, Director Cha,” with lots of hearts.

When Cha Mi Jo tells her friends, “I have a boyfriend,” they are beyond elated to hear the news.

JTBC's new Wednesday-Thursday drama 'Thirty, Nine' is a real human romance drama that deals with the deep story of friendship, love, and life of three friends who are about to turn forty. It is scheduled to premiere on February 16th at 10:30 PM. 

In particular, Son Ye-jin (Cha Mi-jo), Jeon Mi-do (Jeong Chan-young), and Kim Ji-hyeon (Jang Joo-hee) meet as best friends, building a fantastic casting lineup, which is drawing keen interest. Every time a teaser video is released, the three actors' close chemistry stands out, raising expectations.

Son Ye Jin plays Cha Mi Jo, the head dermatologist of a clinic in Gangnam. Jeon Mi Do takes the role of Jung Chan Young, an acting teacher who previously dreamed of becoming an actress, and Kim Ji Hyun stars as Jang Joo Hee, a department store cosmetics manager.

The newly released stills capture the daily lives of Cha Mi Jo, Jung Chan Young, and Jang Joo Hee. Although they try to go hiking together on a morning weekend for the sake of their health, they find toasting to makgeolli (Korean rice wine) more enjoyable than climbing to the summit. After getting off work, the three friends eat tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) together while relieving the day’s stress with chatter, living normal and peaceful lives like most other people.

 

 

 

Since they first met when they were 18 years old, Cha Mi Jo, Jung Chan Young, and Jang Joo Hee have built a tremendous amount of history together. Although the trio is now at an age in which they can enjoy soju with tteokbokki, their friendship is still as fresh and vivid as when they were young teenagers.

Son Ye Jin plays Cha Mi Jo, the head dermatologist of a clinic in Gangnam. Jeon Mi Do takes the role of Jung Chan Young, an acting teacher who previously dreamed of becoming an actress, and Kim Ji Hyun stars as Jang Joo Hee, a department store cosmetics manager.

The newly released teaser video begins with Cha Mi Jo running excitedly through soap bubbles with children. She narrates, “On the verge of turning 40, nothing much had changed.” The scene then drastically changes to show the three friends in a brawl with someone trying to grab at Cha Mi Jo’s hair and Jang Joo Hee fallen on the ground with a nosebleed.

Despite approaching the age of 40, love and first meetings are still as heart-fluttering as ever. Like realistic friends, Jung Chan Young and Jang Joo Hee lean in close to eavesdrop on Cha Mi Jo’s call with a man she is potentially interested in. Cha Mi Jo also pretends to be disgusted when a man gifts Jung Chang Young flowers. He smoothly remarks, “It was difficult to pick flowers less pretty than you.”

Jang Joo Hee also appears to be preparing something special as she lists taking wedding photos as one of her plans. However, their scheme becomes even more confusing when the next scene shows them breaking a store’s glass wall with bricks. They resolve, “Don’t look back. Let’s have fun while doing everything,” raising questions about the trio’s plot. The text, “Whether it is heart-fluttering romance, happiness, or sadness, [it is fine] as long as I experience them with you guys,” draws anticipation for the upcoming touching story.

 

 

Furthermore, “Thirty-Nine” unveiled a new poster of Cha Mi Jo, Jung Chan Young, and Jang Joo Hee wearing flower crowns and bright smiles on their faces. With petals fluttering around and a warm evening glow enveloping them, the three friends look even more beautiful than the flowers surrounding them.

JTBC has released a new teaser video for its upcoming K-drama, Thirty-Nine.

The thirty-second trailer follows the characters Cha Mi-jo (played by Crash Landing On You’s Son Ye-jin), Jung Chan-young (Hospital Playlist’s Jeon Mi-do) and Jang Joo-hee (Artificial City’s Kim Ji-hyun) as they through significant moments in their friendship as adults – from gushing over a potential love interest to getting into a particularly nasty fight.

“On the verge of turning 40, nothing much had changed,” the voiceover in the trailer narrates, as translated by Soompi. “Don’t look back. Let’s have fun while doing everything.”

 

 

 

Thirty-Nine is about a group of friends who form a lifelong bond after meeting in their sophomore year of high school. Together, they navigate adulthood as they draw closer to their forties. The drama follows the trio’s experience with love and loss as adults.
