It is happening all the time. The actors are confirmed a long time ago but they release the press news when they want, usually later, close to the time of the broadcast. It is funny when they announce the casting news and we know the actor/actress finished filming.

The same thing is happening with Noh Hee Kyung`s new drama. We know the drama start filming because of a picture but no official news were released (no casting news confirmation, no character infromation or plot/synopsis released, no picture from filming).

First script reading for tvN drama series “Happiness,” starring Han Hyo-Joo, Park Hyung-Sik, & Jo Woo-Jin, took place May 7, 2021. The first script reading was attended by main cast members including Han Hyo-Joo, Park Hyung-Sik, Jo Woo-Jin, Lee Joon-Hyuk, Park Joo-Hee, Park Hyoung-Soo, Bae Hae-Sun, & Cha Soon-Bae. Plot Synopsis by AsianWiki: Set in the near future, a high-rise apartment building has been newly constructed in the big city. The apartment building has residents from diverse backgrounds, but a new infectious disease breaks out. Because of the outbreak, the high-rise apartment is sealed off. The residents struggle to survive, while stricken with fear and distrust of others.

Yoon Sae-Bom (Han Hyo-Joo) is a member of aspecial police squad. She is decisive, determined, and does not easily get rattled. She is excited to move into her new apartment, but, as soon as moves there, she faces a criss.

tvN has released some photos of the script reading for its upcoming drama “Happiness” (literal translation)!

“Happiness” is an apocalyptic city thriller that takes place in the near future within an apartment that is stratified by social standing. The high-rise apartment housing diverse people becomes sealed off when a new infectious disease emerges, and the drama will depict the fear, fierce psychological battle, and desperate struggle for survival. “Happiness” will be a realistic horror drama in which the people become suspicious of each other in the enclosed space as their daily lives fall apart and their pre-existing values begin to waver.

 

Those present at the script reading included the producing director (PD) Ahn Gil Ho, writer Han Sang Woon, Han Hyo Joo, Park Hyung Sik, Jo Woo Jin, Lee Joon Hyuk, Park Joo Hee, Baek Hyun Jin, Park Hyung Soo, Bae Hae Sun, and Cha Soon Bae.

 

 

At the script reading, the actors realistically portrayed the fear, doubt, and wariness of their characters whose lives fell apart when they encountered extreme circumstances.

 

Han Hyo Joo perfectly transformed into the female lead Yoon Sae Bom, a tactical agent in the Seoul Police Special Operations Unit who is decisive and has fast judgment. Yoon Sae Bom is the type to put things into action as soon as she puts her mind to it. Han Hyo Joo made her character shine by depicting her sharp intelligence.

Park Hyung Shik turned into the male lead Jung Yi Hyun, an intelligent and honest violent crimes detective. He is surprisingly the romantic type who wants to pursue a sweet relationship with Yoon Sae Bom, who he attended high school with. The actor faithfully portrayed both the soft and strong sides of his character, and it will be intriguing to see how he will strive to protect himself and the one he loves.

 

Jo Woo Jin’s performance also stood out. He will be playing the role of commander Han Tae Suk of the Armed Forces Medical Command, who holds the key to the infectious disease. He’s in charge of secretly discovering the cause of the infectious disease and stopping it from spreading. Although Han Tae Suk has a polite and easygoing personality unexpected of someone who is a military intelligence personnel, he is a character who transforms in an instant, making him difficult to read. Jo Woo Jin brought Han Tae Suk to life by acting out his tiniest details.

All the actors worked together to realistically illustrate how humans work in order to survive and protect their precious things. Lee Joon Hyuk, a master of sly acting, will be playing Kim Jung Kook, a violent crimes detective who has close relations to Jung Yi Hyun. Park Joo Hee will be taking the role of Lee Ji Soo, Han Tae Suk’s right-hand woman and a lieutenant of the Armed Forces Medical Command.

 

Baek Hyun Jin will be starring as the troublemaker doctor Oh Joo Hyung who goes head-to-head with Jung Yi Hyun, while Park Hyung Soo will be playing the lawyer Kook Hae Sung. Bae Hae Sun and Cha Soon Bae will be acting as a married couple. She will take the role of Oh Yeon Ok, while he will play pastor Sun Woo Chang.

Park Hee Bon and Na Chul will play the romance web novel writer Na Hyun Kyung and her brother Na Soo Min, respectively. On the other hand, Han Joon Woo will take the role of the rich and unemployed Kim Se Hoon who is living in a penthouse.

The first script reading for tvN’s upcoming thriller Happiness recently took place, and stills of the cast and crew have been released.

 

The drama stars Park Hyung-shik (Suits), Han Hyo-joo (W-Two Worlds), and Jo Woo-jin (Seobok, Mr. Sunshine) in a story that’s set in a near apocalyptic future. A new infectious disease has been discovered in an apartment complex, and the building is sealed off from the rest of the city. Separated by floors and their individual units, and isolated from the rest of the city, tensions and anxieties rise as the residents grow suspicious of one another and try to fight for their own survival.

Han Hyo-joo takes on the role of the courageous and quick-thinking police officer Yoon Sae-bom. She’s a member of the SWAT team, and easily adapts to the ever-changing circumstances when out in the field.

 

Park Hyung-shik plays a police detective in the violent crimes unit, Jung Yi-hyun. He has a strong sense of duty and responsibility, and prioritizes protecting the public at all costs — even if it means making personal sacrifices. Strong but also gentle in spirit, he has been friends with Han Hyo-joo since high school.

Jo Woo-jin’s character is lieutenant colonel Han Tae-seok, the charismatic head of medical command. He is tasked with a secret mission: to uncover the origins of the infectious disease.

The supporting cast includes senior police officer Lee Joon-hyuk (Bossam: Steal the Fate) and Jo’s right hand lieutenant Park Joo-hee (Run On); lawyer Park Hyung-soo (Crash Landing on You) provides counsel for the quarantined building residents.

 

Residents of the building include Bae Hae-sun (The Great Shaman Ga Doo-shim), Park Hee-bon (Unfamiliar Family), and Kim Young-woong (Vincenzo), among others.

Directed and written by the duo who created Watcher — PD Ahn Gil-ho (Forest of Secrets) and writer Han Sang-woon (The Good Wife) — Happiness is currently set to premiere in November on both tvN and TVING.

Makes sense, I think those parts are promo anyway. I'm glad it's like this, it's nice that they're surprised. Without waiting any longer we can watch. The plot of the series is interesting, even if it is a mini-series, I am looking forward to it.
