tvN has unveiled an intriguing poster for its upcoming drama “Happiness” (literal translation)!”

“Happiness” is an apocalyptic city thriller that takes place in the near future within an apartment that is stratified by social standing. The high-rise apartment housing diverse people becomes sealed off when a new infectious disease emerges, and the drama will depict the fear, fierce psychological battle, and desperate struggle for survival. “Happiness” will be a realistic horror drama in which the people become suspicious of each other in the enclosed space as their daily lives fall apart and their pre-existing values begin to waver.

Han Hyo Joo stars as Yoon Sae Bom, a tactical agent in the Seoul Police Special Operations Unit who is decisive and has fast judgment. Park Hyung Shik plays Jung Yi Hyun, an intelligent and honest violent crimes detective who wants to pursue a sweet relationship with Yoon Sae Bom. Jo Woo Jin takes the role of commander Han Tae Suk of the Armed Forces Medical Command, who holds the key to the infectious disease.

On October 7, the drama unveiled a suspenseful poster starring the three main characters. The atmosphere is cold, hinting that a crisis has interrupted everyone’s daily lives. The apartment that was once everyone’s haven fills with fear, and people panic as they race down the stairs. On the contrary, Yoon Sae Bom, Jung Yi Hyun, and Han Tae Suk are going up the stairs, and they look out the window with serious and concerned eyes. The poster’s caption states that the world they knew yesterday has collapsed.

The producers of “Happiness” teased, “Everyone’s daily lives will become completely different due to an unidentified new infectious disease. The struggle for survival during an extreme crisis that is eroded by anxiety and fear will be depicted realistically. The current ongoing fear of what can actually happen during an ‘infectious disease’ and the psychological warfare in an enclosed space will deliver a different kind of fun as well as genre-based pleasure.”

“Happiness” will premiere on November 5 at 10:40 p.m. KST via tvN and TVING.

Watch: Han Hyo Joo, Park Hyung Sik, And Jo Woo Jin Talk About Their Characters In Script Reading Video For New Drama

dummy.jpeg?s=900x600&e=t

Oct 10, 2021

tvN released a behind-the-scenes video from the script reading of the upcoming drama “Happiness” (literal title)!

“Happiness” is an apocalyptic urban thriller that takes place in the near future within an apartment that is stratified by social standing. The high-rise apartment that houses diverse people becomes sealed off when a new infectious disease emerges, and the drama will depict the fear, psychological battles, and desperate struggles for survival that ensue.

Han Hyo Joo stars as Yoon Sae Bom, a tactical agent in the Seoul Police Special Operations Unit, known for her decisiveness and quick judgment. Park Hyung Sik stars as Jung Yi Hyun, an intelligent and honest police detective in the violent crimes division. He is a former high school classmate of Yoon Sae Bom and harbors a sweet, romantic side. Jo Woo Jin stars as Han Tae Suk, who is in the Armed Forces Medical Command and in charge of secretly discovering the cause of the infectious disease and stopping its spread.

In the script reading video, Han Hyo Joo introduced Yoon Sae Bom by saying, “Her motto is, ‘In this chaotic world, let’s live a comfortable life.’ She’s action-oriented to the point that she sometimes acts before she thinks, but her recklessness can also be quite lovable. I think it was fate to meet a character who is so much like myself. When I read the script, meeting the character of Yoon Sae Bom felt like destiny.

Park Hyung Sik said, “It’s been a long time since I said hello. After being discharged from the military, I am back as the police officer Jung Yi Hyun. He’s pure-hearted with a strong sense of justice, but he also has a blunt and tenacious side. I think that he’s a very multifaceted person.

Jo Woo Jin said, “He holds the key to the infectious disease. He needs to find the cause and stop its spread. You can’t tell what he’s thinking inside, but as you watch the drama, you’ll learn what kind of character he really is.”

To describe Sae Bom and Yi Hyun’s relationship, Han Hyo Joo said, “Like a house? Sae Bom has a lot of dreams about her own home. Park Hyung Sik has a great sense of sociableness. He approached me when we first met and was very friendly, so I was able to feel comfortable as well.” Park Hyung Sik described their characters’ relationship as each other’s “saviors,” but the production staff had to bleep out the rest of what he said due to spoilers.

Recalling why she had initially found the drama so appealing, Han Hyo Joo commented, “The script was so much fun, and I was able to immerse myself fully in the character of Yoon Sae Bom because she was similar to me at that time.”

Describing her character, she continued, “Yoon Sae Bom is daring and honest, and she’s someone with a spirited charm. She immediately puts her thoughts into action, and there are times when she’ll act first before thinking, but I actually found that personality satisfying to play. There are times when I experience a vicarious thrill while acting [as Yoon Sae Bom].”

Han Hyo Joo also revealed that she had approached the character differently from her past roles. “Since we were similar in many respects, I was able to create Yoon Sae Bom even without intentionally developing and trying to act out the character. tvN’s new drama “Happiness” has shared its first peek of Jo Woo Jin in character!

“Happiness” is an apocalyptic urban thriller that takes place in the near future within an apartment that is stratified by social standing. Jo Woo Jin shared his thoughts on the drama, saying, “Like the catchphrase of the drama ‘Currently Progressive Horror’, I got the feeling that this is a ‘reality-based drama’. The content of the outbreak of a new disease itself is not much different from the present reality, which destroys the wish that ‘it will end soon, it will be over soon.’ That is the charm and differentiation of ‘Happiness’.”

Concerning his character Han Tae Suk, the actor commented, “He’s a mysterious character. In the beginning, he functions as a character that raises the tension of the drama, but in the end, he is also a character who will be seen as a ‘person.'”

Then he added, “It will be fun to watch how Han Tae Suk changes, how his emotions flow, and what his character is like.”

“Happiness” will premiere on November 5 at 10:40 p.m. KST.
