I still have about 30 mintues left in ep 6, but I really enjoy this drama.  The interaction between the  actresses portraying Yi Kyung and Kyung Yi is just fabulous.  It's such a shame this drama is in the same time slot as dramas with actors with big names.

We delve into the killer’s backstory this hour to discover when her life took such a dark turn. Meanwhile, the team scrambles to catch her before she can harm anyone else.

EPISODE 5 RECAP

Kyung-yi and Santa race to save Je-hee and Kyung-soo from a watery grave, with only the words “it’s not the ocean” to go on. Putting that together with salt water and rising tides, they call for emergency services to help search. Je-hee and Kyung-soo manage to pry open the container doors, and she pushes him out first so he can surface and get Kyung-yi’s attention. Je-hee is unconscious by the time they fish her out.

They’re transported to the hospital, where Je-hee is sent into surgery for a neck injury. Kyung-yi bombards Kyung-soo with questions about their capture. He asks if this is really the time, but she says it’s their one connection and possibly only chance to catch K. He racks his brain, but all he can remember is losing consciousness in the car and coming to inside a wooden box in the container.

He doubles over in a coughing fit, and Kyung-yi and Santa start in alarm to see his back covered scrapes and bruises. Kyung-yi surmises the culprit could have parked their car next to a dropoff and pushed them over the edge so they fell into the box. From there, it would have been simple enough to haul the box over to the container with an ATV.

Kyung-yi and Santa visit a nearby ATV rental to view the security cameras. As they do, the owner notices one hasn’t been returned yet, and Kyung-yi recognizes a gesture made by the person who rented that ATV. Of course, the ATV was abandoned in a location without cameras, but the janitor is able to tell them that the person went to the bathroom next door before leaving. Kyung-yi immediately starts rummaging through the trash, then runs over to interrogate a group of elderly bystanders.

They were here yesterday too, and saw a young woman come out of the men’s restroom before being arrested for carrying drugs. Kyung-yi shows them a picture of Kyung to identify (though she accidentally displays a picture of Santa first, confusing them even more). Meanwhile, Santa finds a bag inside the trash that makes him yell in fright – it looks like a human head, but it’s actually a wig, hat, and glasses. Kyung’s disguise. Kyung-yi realizes that Kyung deliberately approached her from the beginning – and that Kyung had been following her own advice on getting away with murder.

Geon-wook visits Kyung at the police station. He tells her she should have listened to him instead of being reckless, and to reflect on what she’s done, and leaves her there. She sighs that he’s the one being reckless right now.

Kyung-soo checks on Je-hee, who’s in a private hospital room but still unconscious. Her father is there, too, and Kyung-soo assures him she did nothing wrong, and was in fact chasing down a criminal. Kyung-yi calls just then, needing all the information Kyung-soo can find on Kyung ASAP, particularly if she lived in Seattle and any major incidents that happened there.

Inspector Koo: Episode 6

by DaebakGrits

Koo_06_00.jpg

The killer is on the run, but our investigator knows that she will not leave town until she’s completed her last murder. With the clock ticking, the team rushes to identify the next victim before the killer strikes again.

EPISODE 6 RECAP

Kyung-yi’s gut tells her that Kyung won’t make an appearance at the airport, so she climbs into the van’s driver’s seat and commandeers the vehicle. Using intel from Kyung-soo, Kyung-yi is able to locate Kyung’s secret base, but when she and Santa arrive, she hopes that her intuition is wrong. She’d prefer it if Je-hee called and reported that Kyung was apprehended at the airport. Unfortunately, as Kyung-yi peers through the windows of Kyung’s hideout, she comes eye-to-eye with the serial killer she’s been hunting. Kyung-yi tries to force her way inside Kyung’s hideout, but Kyung is pulling it closed from the other side. Kyung-yi realizes that she’s at a disadvantage against Kyung’s youth and strength and decides it would be better to trap Kyung inside her hideout and wait until she can get police backup, but Kyung catches onto Kyung-yi’s new plan and forces her way outside.

Instead of running for it, though, she backs Kyung-yi into the hideout and begins to throw punches at Kyung-yi, who retaliates by grabbing a nearby paint can and spraying Kyung’s face a lovely shade of Grinch green. While Kyung recovers, Kyung-yi handcuffs herself to Kyung and swallows the key. Kyung pins Kyung-yi to the ground and is poised to pummel Kyung-yi in the face, but Kyung-yi reminds Kyung that she can’t kill her since she’s innocent. Realizing Kyung-yi has a point, Kyung grabs a machete and threatens to hack off Kyung-yi’s handcuffed hand instead. She swings her arm back, ready to chop, but Santa arrives and tosses a fishing net over her. Kyung quickly slices her way through the net, and Santa cowardly runs away

Kyung escapes by trapping Kyung-yi in the fishing net and using a hairpin to pick the lock on the handcuffs. She runs past Santa and the cops he brought for backup and leads them towards the river, where she steals a paddle board and flees via water. The police pursue her by boat, but as they close in, she dives into the river. Back on land, Kyung-yi scolds Santa for ditching her to go fetch the police. He wasted valuable time that would have been better spent helping her capture Kyung.

In an airport bathroom, Mr. Kim explains to Sook, who is audibly peeing in a nearby stall, that Kyung-yi’s intuition led her to Kyung’s location. He questions Je-hee’s usefulness and suggests contacting Kyung-yi directly in the future. Sook, however, disagrees because she prefers to build trust with Je-hee and stresses the importance of second chances.

Next, Mr. Kim provides an update on Ko Dam’s business dealings, but Sook complains that his intel is not enough to blackmail him with. It’s a pity, she muses, that there isn’t a way to kill him without anyone knowing it was a murder. Mr. Kim worriedly stares at her reflection through the mirror and she — not so convincingly — reassures him that she’s just kidding.

Back at K’s hideout, while wannabe badass Kyung-soo swings around the machete and makes Santa nervous, Kyung-yi unpacks Kyung’s script books. Je-hee arrives, mad at Kyung-yi for not telling her sooner about her plan to check out Kyung’s hideout, but Kyung-yi counters that she didn’t have the opportunity because Je-hee was too busy kissing Sook’s RickRoll'D. Je-hee advises Kyung-yi to stick to using her brain while she does the legwork.

Their bickering is interrupted by the arrival of a courier with a package addressed to Kyung. Santa signs for it, and inside the box is a script book for Joan of Arc. The binding matches the rest of the books Kyung-yi discovered in the hideout.

Lee Young Ae Reverts To Old Habits After Another Tragic Death In “Inspector Koo”

dummy.jpeg?s=900x600&e=t

Nov 21, 2021
by C. Hong

It’s a step backward for Lee Young Ae in the latest stills from JTBC’s “Inspector Koo”!

“Inspector Koo” is a hardboiled comic mystery drama starring Lee Young Ae as Koo Kyung Yi, a brilliant insurance investigator who used to be a police officer but became a recluse after the death of her husband. Although she is no longer a police officer, she solves cold cases for the thrill of it and winds up facing off against a female college student who is secretly a serial killer.

Spoilers

In the previous episode, Kei’s aunt, Jung Jung Yeon (Bae Hae Sun), who was the bait in a trap to catch serial killer Kei (Kim Hye Joon), unexpectedly died. Director Yong (Kim Hae Sook) removed Go Dam (Kim Soo Ro), who was Kei’s original target, but then revealed her dark intention of killing Go Dam all along, throwing things into complete chaos.

Shocked at the failure of her plan after dragging Jung Jung Yeon in to catch Kei, Koo Kyung Yi reverts back to being a recluse, traumatized at the thought that she caused an innocent person’s death. The Investigation B team, which was the task force designed to catch Kei, was also dissolved. Koo Kyung Yi distances herself from the other members of the team and becomes an obsessive gamer again.

Through this Go Dam case, Koo Kyung Yi became suspicious of her assistant, Santa (Baek Sung Chul). In the new stills, Koo Kyung Yi shows him a wallet with ID in it and asks him questions. In another still, Kyung Soo (Cho Hyun Chul) comes to find Koo Kyung Yi at her house, since she never leaves it, and persuades her to let him in with her favorite whisky and the promise of a decisive clue. Although they were awkward around each other in the Investigation B team, they will work together to investigate Jung Jung Yeon’s mysterious death.

I honestly can't stand Ms Na, her kissing up to that rich chair woman is a huge mistake. That lady is worst than Go Dam. Ms Na is putting her self and her daughter in danger teaming up with that chair woman.

EP 8

Spoiler

I hope Ms. Na is not dead & K is just scaring her.

Image

Her video of Ko Dam's death will be a big help to Yong Sook's downfall. Let's there be a redemption arc for Ms. Na; be a double spy.

Santa hmmm... more suspicious like Kyungyi said. His life revolves around the team and no personality outside of that. I think he is involved with Kyungyi and her husband's storyline; the husband's photo on the back of his creepy photobook.

:rubchin:

Only Gyeongsu is trustworthy and loyal. LOVE Kyungyi & Gyeongsu combo. Would love to see more of them together.

I love you, K but please don't hurt Gunwook and his bf. They're so cute. Anyway, his bf needs to not be suspicious of K and starts digging cause K isn't in her right mind rn.

K is very sexy in this episode. :heart3:

As expected from JTBC. They aren't shy with homosexuality. I'm very shock how open they make Gunwook and his sexuality. Usually other broadcast stations would go with "bromance" or very subtle with Gunwook & his bf's relationship.

Will K & the team teamed up to go against Yong Sook?

Inspector Koo: Episode 7

by mistyisles

https://d263ao8qih4miy.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/inspectorkoo7-00033.jpg

Having identified the killer’s next target, our team prepares a sting operation to catch her in the act, hoping to avoid any further casualties in the process. But lines of loyalty are starting to blur, and that’s a dangerous game to play when trusting the wrong person can tip the scales in a deadly direction.

EPISODE 7 RECAP

A man sings alone in a dark apartment. OMG it’s Santa, and he’s singing about waiting for someone to notice him while placing candid photos of Kyung-yi in a photo album. Then the camera pans over his workspace to reveal a deconstructed doll exactly like the ones Kyung’s helpers carry. Creepy music plays as he puts some kind of clear liquid from a tiny vial into Kyung-yi’s drink while she sleeps. He smiles widely as she downs it, completely unaware.

Je-hee and Kyung-soo follow Ko Dam’s car as he leaves his office. Just as Kyung-soo is remarking that it would be cliché if a Truck of Doom were to strike Ko Dam’s car right now, a whole fleet of trucks zoom past them, surrounding Ko Dam’s car to escort him to KD Peace Lab.

The team sits across the street from the lab, wondering how Kyung will manage to kill Ko Dam when they can’t even catch a glimpse of him. Kyung-yi muses that nothing short of a war – if even that – would draw him out. Suddenly, a banner drops from the lab’s roof, announcing an upcoming robotics showcase. Kyung-yi breathes, “That’s it! Joan of Arc will march out to war.”

Sook entertains a child in a hospital with a robot while Kyung-yi and Je-hee watch, unamused. Sook sends the robot – and the child – out into the hallway so they can discuss Ko Dam. It’s likely he’ll announce his mayoral campaign at the showcase, and since he’ll be extra visible, it’s a prime time for K to strike. Cancelling the showcase won’t stop her, either; she’ll just wait for her next chance. Sook says pointedly that Kyung-yi seems to know K extremely well, and Je-hee quickly turns the conversation back to Ko Dam. When Sook asks again how they plan to stop K from killing him, Kyung-yi says, “I’ll set the stage for her.”

Nice to read that the drama's rating is a little better @backstreetboysfan !  I'm still enjoying it.  Yes, it has it's flaws, but don't most dramas?  I really think Kim Hye Joon is doing an excellent job.  Now here's my question, why is Sook helping the B team?  Is it because of her son running for mayor?

I am glad the ratings are going up as well.

Inspector Koo: Episode 8

by DaebakGrits

Koo08_00.jpg

Our team’s disbandment has them feeling distrustful and adrift without resources, which makes it hard for them to find the answers to their lingering questions. Meanwhile, our killer seeks answers of her own, but her recent loss leaves her wrestling with her identity as the darkness within her evolves.

EPISODE 8 RECAP

Jung-yeon kneels in front of a statue of the virgin Mary, but she’s startled mid-prayer when kyung pounds on the church’s organ keys and interrupts her communion with her deceased sister. Kyung, who is dressed in her high school uniform, smiles sheepishly for causing the disturbance.

Over ice cream, Jung-yeon pulls out a wallet containing a picture of her and her sister. She tearfully explains that she was praying to Kyung’s mother because she was always a great listener. Kyung is jealous that Jung-yeon has someone who will listen to her, and Jung-yeon is playfully offended that Kyung doesn’t consider her a confidant But, her aunt says as she hands the wallet to Kyung, if there is ever anything she cannot talk to Jung-yeon about, she can tell her mom instead. Jung-yeon excuses herself for a moment, and Kyung stares at the photo of her mother and aunt. After a moment, she emotionlessly states that she doesn’t hear anything.

Mr. Kim, along with some of Sook’s people, attend Jung-yeon’s funeral in hopes of catching K. She doesn’t appear, but Geon-wook, who is pretending to visit a nearby grave, watches the ceremony in her place.

Kyung-yi is wrapped in a blanket burrito on the floor with her cell phone laying next to her. Je-hee reports that they were unable to identify Kyung’s accomplice from his license plate. Kyung didn’t show up at her aunt’s funeral either, so there’s not much left for their team to do. The call ends, and Kyung-yi hoarsely orders Santa to close the windows because rain from the thunderstorm is leaking inside.

Santa, who is curled up in his own bundle of blankets and laundry on the other side of the room, doesn’t move. Lightning flashes and silhouettes Kyung’s creepy form as she crawls towards Santa like a horror movie villain. When she reaches him, she realizes that he’s running a fever. After checking his forehead temperature, she reaches into his pocket and removes his wallet. Cue more thunder and lightning for dramatic effect.

Inspector Koo: Episode 9

by mistyisles

https://www.dramabeans.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Koo09-00232.jpg

Our inspector hits a literal rock bottom this hour, and may not have the will – let alone the strength – to pull herself out of it. Meanwhile, the baddies forge a tentative alliance to advance both of their agendas. The question is, who’s in control, and who’s in way over their head?

EPISODE 9 RECAP

Kyung taunts Kyung-yi with Je-hee’s scarf until Kyung-yi grabs her by the collar and demands to know if Je-hee is okay. Kyung plays dumb and calls Sook out for discretely trying to call for backup. When Sook plays just as dumb, Kyung steps around Kyung-yi and proposes she and Sook join forces. She’s intrigued by Sook’s power, and outright states that she needs someone to clean up after she kills people. Sook isn’t convinced she can trust Kyung, so Kyung says she isn’t in the process of any murders right now — and that she can carry out a favor for Sook as soon as she asks one.

She throws Kyung-yi a giddy look as she says it and taunts her again with the last words Kyung-yi said to Je-hee (that she wasn’t sure if Je-hee deserved to live or die anymore). That’s the last straw. Kyung-yi throws Kyung down on top of a table and asks again if she killed Je-hee. Kyung claims she didn’t, though she knows Kyung-yi won’t believe it without proof.

Mr. Kim finally arrives with backup, but Sook has him stand down since Kyung is on their side now. Kyung-yi vows to kill Kyung herself if Je-hee’s dead, and takes off to find her. To Kyung’s delight, Sook sends her men to follow Kyung-yi, and they agree they’ll make a great team. Sook matches Kyung’s mixture of charm and menace, and Kyung looks just the teeniest bit unnerved.

Despite her lead, Kyung-yi can’t outrun Mr. Kim’s car and trips on a steep incline. He gets out and waves a gun, ordering her to get in the car. Left with no choice, Kyung-yi climbs into the trunk, though she does ask about Je-hee again. Mr. Kim says she’s dead, but Kyung-yi doesn’t believe him – not that he thought she would.

Santa brings more groceries to Kyung-yi’s place and panics when he doesn’t find her. Meanwhile, Mr. Kim stands next to a large barrel, presumably with Kyung-yi inside it, and apologizes insincerely for what he’s about to do. He uses a golf club to send one of her shoes flying, and kicks the barrel down the rocky hill after it.

That transitions to a video game sequence, where a barrel bounces down a hill. It takes a path to the left of a signpost proclaiming death ahead. At the end of the path, the barrel falls off a cliff, and a skull rises up with the message, “Game Over. Thank you for Watching Inspector Koo. Continue?” The option “YES” is selected, so the barrel sequence starts over. This time, a gigantic hornet appears at the fork and nudges the barrel down the right-hand path instead, which is labeled with a question mark.
