JTBC has released photos from the script reading of Lee Young Ae’s upcoming drama!

In March, it was announced that Lee Young Ae was starring in her first TV drama in four years. The drama, “Koo Kyung Yi,” is described as a hard-boiled investigative comedy drama that centers around insurance investigator Koo Kyung Yi, who also investigates cold cases for the thrill of it rather than out of a sense of justice.

At the script reading, which took place in May, were director Lee Jung Heum, writer Sung Cho Yi, and actors Lee Young Ae, Kim Hye Joon, Kim Hae Sook, Kwak Sun Young, Baek Sung ChulCho Hyun Chul, and Lee Hong Nae.

Lee Young Ae’s character, Koo Kyung Yi, is an insurance investigator who used to be a police officer, and video games and alcohol are her entire life. The actress walked the fine line between a dark storyline and comedic elements in order to create the unusual character of Koo Kyung Yi, who is different from the “elegant” characters that the actress has played before.

Kim Hye Joon, who rose to fame through Netflix’s “Kingdom” series, plays the mysterious university student Kei. She crosses paths with Koo Kyung Yi, and unlike her bright smile on the outside, no one can tell what she’s thinking inside. Kim Hae Sook plays Director Yong, the chief director of a volunteer and charity foundation. Although she looks warm and benevolent on the outside, she has an aura of her own.

Kwak Sun Young, Baek Sung Cheol, and Jo Hyun Chul are part of “Koo Kyung Yi’s team.” Kwak Sun Young plays Na Je Hi, the head of the investigation team at NT Life, who used to be Koo Kyung Yi’s junior in the police force. Baek Sung Chul plays a gamer who becomes Koo Kyung Yi’s assistant, and Cho Hyun Chul plays Kyung Soo, Koo Kyung Yi’s colleague at NT Life’s investigation team. Lee Hong Nae rounds out the principal cast as Geon Wook, Kei’s assistant.

Lee Young Ae shared, “After I read this script, I thought that I couldn’t pass up this chance.” The production staff stated, “Our drama is a hard-boiled comedy investigation drama about a never-before-seen investigator like Koo Kyung Yi. We intend to make a drama with a unique interest that you won’t see anywhere else, so please look forward to it.”

Watch: Lee Young Ae Is An Eccentric Sleuth Who Swears She’s Not Crazy In 1st Teaser For New Mystery-Comedy Drama

JTBC has shared its first sneak peek of its upcoming drama “Inspector Koo” (also known as “Koo Kyung Yi”)!

“Inspector Koo” is a new comedy-mystery drama starring Lee Young Ae as the titular Koo Kyung Yi, a brilliant insurance investigator who used to be a police officer, but became a recluse after the death of her husband. Despite no longer being a police officer, Koo Kyung Yi enjoys solving cold cases for the thrill of it, and she winds up facing off against a female college student who is secretly a serial killer when she begins investigating a mysterious murder case.

In the drama’s newly released first teaser, Lee Young Ae makes a striking transformation into the eccentric Koo Kyung Yi, who is completely different from the characters the actress has played up until now.

Surrounded by heaps of trash in her messy home, Koo Kyung Yi passionately plays games late at night while yelling, “Kill them all! Kill them all!” After winning, she triumphantly raises her arms to the heavens and shouts, “It worked!”

As the captions dramatically insist, “She isn’t a crazy person,” Koo Kyung Yi shocks a sanitation worker by suddenly emerging from a pile of garbage. The startled worker exclaims, “What is that? Is that a person?”

The teaser ends with Koo Kyung Yi staring down the camera with a wary gaze as she says, “That’s suspicious.”

Upcoming JTBC investigative comedy Inspector Gu (formerly known as Wonderful Gu Kyung-yi) has just released its first teaser. Featuring Lee Young-ae (Saimdang, Light’s Diary) as the titular character, the drama is an adaptation of the critically-acclaimed BBC show, Killing Eve.

Lee Young-ae’s character, Gu Kyung-yi, is a private insurance investigator and pathological homebody who can’t stand it when she gets into a rut in terms of gaming or investigating. In the teaser, she sits in a dark basement with trash littered all around her. She pays no attention to her squalid surroundings because she’s so focused on her game. She yells, “Kill everything! Kill everything!” until she reaches a point in her game where she wins and then exclaims with joy, “I did it!”

The next scene shows a garbage man completely surprised as Gu Kyung-yi rolls out of the back of his dumpster. A crowd is gathered in front of some type of phenomenon, and Gu Kyung-yi watches with suspicious eyes, huddled under a comforter. The onscreen copy reads: “I’m not… a crazy person.” However, Lee Young-ae’s voiceover says, “That’s doubtful,” as the teaser ends.

Written by Sung Cho-yi and directed by Lee Jung-heum, JTBC’s Saturday-Sunday drama Inspector Gu will air in October.

Kyeong-i' Lee Young-ae, can I be broken like this?

PS21100500097.jpg

The daily life of Lee Young-ae of 'Goo-kyung-i' was revealed.

JTBC's new Saturday and Sunday drama 'Gugyeong' (directed by Lee Jung-heum, scripted by Seongchoi, produced by Keyeast, Group Eight, JTBC Studio), which will be aired for the first time in October, is the hard work of Gugyeong-i (Lee Young-ae), a suspicious person who can't stand the lag in both games and investigations. Boiled Comic Chase. Lee Young-ae, who is returning to the small screen after 4 years, is foreshadowing the transformation of her acting, a unique and fresh script, and a directing combination that will add a sense of immersion.

In the drama, Lee Young-ae takes on the role of Go-gyeong-i, an insurance investigator who used to be a police officer who is all about games and alcohol. Gyung-i, a former police officer, now lives a day as a ‘natural born housekeeper’ who lives in seclusion in the corner of the room. Before the broadcast, the daily still cuts of Kyeong-i's house-soon, who made the day curious about it, were released.

In the photo released by the production team on the 5th, Goo is playing a game in a dark room. Concentrated as if being sucked into the screen, and cheering with her arms outstretched at her victory in the game, etc. Goo was completely absorbed in the game all day. On the floor of the room seen behind him, there is no place to step on, garbage is all over the place, suggesting the daily life of a troublemaker who is bothered by everything except games.

In the next photo, Guyong-i, who was so immersed in the game, is smiling as if he has won the world from a can of beer. Here, even the real traces of food on the white T-shirt, the raw character of the housekeeper is revealed as it is. The appearance of Lee Young-ae, who is perfectly in tune with him, makes Lee Young-ae's transformation in this drama awaited.

The drama 'Goo-kyung' is the story of a house-sooner who goes out and uncovers a mysterious serial murder case disguised as an accident. Kyeong-i, who was running to the end of his helplessness, is going to play an active part in a reversal that fiercely illuminates the 'point of doubt' at the scene of the incident. Expectations are high on the outstanding performance of the ‘Surprising Room in the Corner’ who came out to the world. Watching a housekeeper who risked his life for the game and healed with a sip of beer. The identity of the unique Goo-gyeong, who becomes more curious as it is released, can be found in JTBC’s new Saturday-Sunday drama ‘Koo-kyung’, which will be aired for the first time in October.

Kim Hye-joon in school uniform, questioning connection with Lee Young-ae

BF.27683075.1.jpg

Actress Kim Hye-joon is showing off her new charm in JTBC's new weekend drama 'Gu Kyung-i'.

Kim Hye-jun, who was named alongside Lee Young-ae, was selected for the role of her mysterious student, Kei, and focused her attention. Kim Hye-jun made her face known with the Netflix original series ‘Kingdom’, and won the Blue Dragon Film Festival Rookie of the Year Award for the movie ‘Underage’, becoming a promising actress in Chungmuro. Attention is focused on how Kim Hye-joon, the expectant of her solid acting skills, will show in 'Gu Kyung-i'.

In the midst of this, on the 6th, the production team first released a still cut of Kim Hye-jun. In her photos, Hye-Jun Kim has the appearance of an ordinary student that she can see everywhere. Kim Hye-joon in her school uniform looks neat and bright. Her round face, a lively expression, and a bright smile that brightens her surroundings explain her character of Kay.

Kei, played by Hye-Jun Kim in the play, is a student who is passionate about the theater club. Although she stays in the role of 'Tree 1' by showing off her on-stage foot acting, she's more passionate about theatre than anyone else. Not only she does, but Kay does well with the requests of her friends, and she lives as a sweet neice to her one and only aunt. The unpredictable presence of Kei arouses curiosity as to how this ordinary student, Kei, has a relationship with the 'police-turned-insurance investigator' in the play.

The production team said, “Kay is a character whose true intentions are unknown. Hye-Jun Kim, a unique character with her bright and mysterious charm at the same time, captures the charm of her Kei, and is passionately filming. I hope you will be curious about the performance of Kim Hye-joon, the expectant who will shine her presence in ‘Gu Kyung-i’, and look forward to her first broadcast.”

Kim Hae-sook's two faces, benevolent or intense

109595517.1.jpg

Kim Hae-sook transforms into a two-faced 'Yonggukjang' character in JTBC's new Saturday and Sunday drama 'Koo Kyung-Yi' (directed by Lee Jeong-heum, written by Seong-choi).

Kim Hae-sook plays the role of 'Yonggukjang', the chairman of the nation's number one volunteer donation foundation in 'Gugyeongi' and plays a significant role. Yong guk jang is a person who has devoted herself to service for over 30 years. She always treats people with a benevolent smile, and she has the side of a girl who is always curious and asks questions. However, the reason why such a dragon coat of arms cannot be taken lightly is because she is exuding a strong force in her warm impression.

The still cut of Kim Hae-sook, which was first released by the production team of 'Gu Kyung-i' on the 7th, gives a glimpse of the two-faced Yonggukjang character. In the photo, Yonggukjang has a warm and compassionate smile on his face. He looks like he is holding a child while wearing a volunteer foundation vest, and chatting

However, in the scene where the arrow is aimed, the figure of the chief of the Yonggukjang shooting sharp eyes is captured. The appearance of Yonggukjang with a smile overwhelms those who see it, and it stimulates curiosity about what kind of character Yonggukjang really is.

It is said that Kim Hae-sook, who has made her name shine in many of her works, joined 'Gu Kyung-i' with a passion that does not stop her acting challenge. That is why Yonggukjang's character has come to be attractive. The two-faced Yonggukjang is expected to add to the interest of the play by hovering next to Gu Gyung-i (Lee Young-ae), an insurance investigator from the police.

The production team of 'Gu Kyungi' said, "The only actor who can digest Yonggukjang, who is smiling but has the power to overwhelm many people, is actor Kim Hae-sook. Please look forward to the presence of actress Kim Hae-sook, who will show her acting skills in 'Gugyeongi'."

“Inspector Koo” is a comedy-mystery drama starring Lee Young Ae as the titular Koo Kyung Yi, a brilliant insurance investigator who used to be a police officer, but became a recluse after the death of her husband. Despite no longer being a police officer, Koo Kyung Yi enjoys solving cold cases for the thrill of it, and she winds up facing off against a female college student who is secretly a serial killer when she begins investigating a mysterious murder case.

Towards the end of the clip, Koo Kyung Yi incoherently mutters a few words in her sleep. One young man stares at her in alarm and asks, “Wh-what did you say?” Her two team members answer for her, saying, “I have no idea why he’s on our team.”

Inspector Koo” will premiere on October 30 at 10:30 p.m. KST.

Lee Young-ae is on the prowl in new teaser for JTBC’s Inspector Gu

by tccolb

insgut3.jpg

A new video teaser has been released for JTBC’s upcoming crime comedy Inspector Gu, featuring lead actor Lee Young-ae (Saimdang, Light’s Diary) along with the supporting cast.

Based on the BBC original series Killing Eve, Lee Young-ae takes on the central role of Inspector Gu – an eccentric private investigator who plays by her own rules. Although her approach may seem unconventional, she is committed to every case and her instincts always point her in the right direction towards the culprit.

In the newly released teaser, we get to see some of the fun dynamics of her team which includes Kwak Sun-young (Hospital Playlist 2) and Jo Han-chul (Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha) among others.

Right from the open, we see a frustrated Kwak carrying and dragging a half-unconscious (and possibly drunk) Lee Young-ae. It cuts to Lee telling her teammates to freeze as she examines the evidence laid out on an table. With the appearing text screens, the narrator (voice actor Kang Soo-jin) explains who she is: “She’s not a crazy person, she’s just trying to capture a criminal. She’s a detective!”

In a sequence of shots, we see Lee Young-ae on the hunt, interrogating possible witnesses, and piecing together clues. The narrator continues, “When others are at ease, she alone is suspicious. Gu Kyung-yi is coming!” and he reads out the ensuing text screens, “It has been awakened! The detective’s intuition!”

We jump to a coastline where police are searching a crime scene. Lee Young-ae peers at them through a broken fence as she receives a briefing of the situation over the phone. The man tells her, “It’s a serial murder case with no evidence and no suspects.” Lee tries to imagine and act out how the murders happened on her teammates, who are taken aback by her fake attacks.

In a parody of a vigilante hero shot, we see Lee Young-ae standing on a rooftop at night and surveying the small neighborhood intersection. The narrator introduces the drama as a “Hardboiled action-comedy,” and that “In the end, there is only one truth.” As we’re shown the drama’s title card, he announces again, “Gu Kyung-yi!”

The clip comes to a close on the team cleaning up their office while Lee Young-ae drinks and lounges on an armchair. She slurs in frustration at one of her rookies, but he doesn’t understand what she’s saying. Her more experienced members translate for him, “I don’t know why this kid is on our team.”

Written by Sung Cho-yi and directed by PD Lee Jung-heum (Nobody Knows, Falsify), Inspector Gu premieres October 30 and will be airing weekends on JTBC.
