JTBC’s upcoming drama “Lost” has shared more stills of Jeon Do Yeon in character!

“Lost” stars Jeon Do Yeon as Boo Jung, a ghostwriter in her forties who feels as though she hasn’t amounted to anything, and Ryu Jun Yeol as Kang Jae, a man struggling to make ends meet who is terrified of his unpromising future. When the two lost souls meet in the shadows, they embark on a journey of healing as they attempt to escape the darkness.

On August 17, the drama unveiled Jeon Do Yeon’s flawless transformation into Boo Jung.

In the first still, Boo Jung’s eyes are cold and dry of emotions as she waits in line for a book signing event that is held by Ah Ran (Park Ji Young), an actress who is also her client. It appears as if Boo Jung is somewhat resentful towards the “author,” and curiosity is mounting over what she’s up to.

Jeon Do Yeon explained, “Boo Jung is a precarious character who is on the border between life and death. I thought the most important thing was to wonder why Boo Jung is experiencing a lot of pain and hardships and find the answers to them.”

Jeon Do Yeon And Ryu Jun Yeol Make Deep And Emotional Eye Contact In Poster For “Lost”

Aug 18, 2021

by L. Kim

Upcoming JTBC drama “Lost” released a special poster starring Jeon Do Yeon and Ryu Jun Yeol!

“Lost” tells the stories of average people who realize they haven’t become anything throughout their lives and try their best to see the spotlight. Jeon Do Yeon stars as Boo Jung, a ghostwriter in her 40s who feels lost and as if she hasn’t been able to amount to anything. Ryu Jun Yeol stars as Kang Jae, a man who runs a service where employees act out whatever roles clients request.

Previously, the second main poster conveyed the two people’s complex emotions as they pass by each other and turn around to make eye contact. In the special poster, Boo Jung’s and Kang Jae’s eyes are mournful and lonely. The poster reads, “Are you okay now?” The poignant phrase highlights the two characters who are going through an existential crisis in their lives, and viewers can look forward to their unique encounter in darkness that turns into a ray of hope.

lost3.jpg

One key reason to watch the drama is the emotional synergy created by Jeon Do Yeon and Ryu Jun Yeol. As Boo Jung, Jeon Do Yeon will portray her character’s pain of living life without a presence. Boo Jung has lost her reason to live after facing her failed self on the downward road of life despite trying her best. Ryu Jun Yeol’s character Kang Jae wants to become rich and has taken on the risk of climbing higher in order to let go of his poor background. Wandering on his way to find a shortcut while dreaming of a luxurious life, he’s lost his direction in life in front of a steep uphill road without having accomplished a single thing.

The production team shared, “Both Kang Jae and Boo Jung experience a feeling of loss that they haven’t amounted to anything and fear that they will become nothing. This fact will be their greatest consolation. ‘Lost’ is heartbreaking but heartwarming, and viewers will become deeply immersed in how the two characters change through each other.”

“Lost” will premiere on September 4 at 10:30 p.m. KST.

145312_294977_1241.png

As K-contents gained popularity abroad, the popularity of Korean dramas is also rising. In regions such as South America and Asia, there are even dramas going backwards due to the release of the dubbed version. In the second half of this year, two months have already passed, and let's take a look at the dramas expected in the second half of 2021 that will heat up domestic small screens in the second half of 2021.

The drama <Disqualification of Humanity> is a JTBC Saturday-Sunday drama scheduled to air from September 4th. In the end, it tells the story of a 40-year-old woman who has lost her way without becoming anything and a 27-year-old man who is afraid of himself, who will eventually become nothing.

It is planned to unravel the story of healing and empathy drawn by two men and women, a woman named Jung (Jeon Do-yeon) who has lost her way without being able to do anything and Kang Jae (Ryu Jun-yeol), a man at the end of his youth who fears that he will be nothing. Expectations are already high for the return of the great actress Jeon Do-yeon.

[...]

Viewers are already looking forward to the news that the rare queens are making a comeback to the small screen. While a cold wind is blowing in the broadcasters due to the spread of Corona 19, I expect a warm wind to blow in the second half of this year thanks to the performances of the Queens.

JTBC’s upcoming drama “Lost” has revealed new stills of Ryu Jun Yeol in character!

The newly released stills show Ryu Jun Yeol’s transformation into Kang Jae, whose one and only goal is to become rich. He does whatever he can to earn money, but he is afraid that he won’t be able to amount to anything. He is a man who pretends to be an adult but is actually an innocent boy. Furthermore, he seems cynical, but he wants to be someone that is needed.

The photos share a glimpse of Kang Jae’s exhausting and boring daily life. His clients send him a message of what they want and the payment to carry out their request, and he transforms into whatever they want: a friend, family, or lover. He perfectly carries out his missions, but his life is nothing but dull. In the stills, he walks into dark alleys with the same indifferent expression, and it will be intriguing to find out how he will change after meeting Boo Jung.

Ryu Jun Yeol shared why he chose to star in “Lost,” saying, “I felt lingering feelings after reading the script for the first time. Kang Jae’s charms also greatly touched my heart. This drama is a grateful project where I am able to work with Jeon Do Yeon and director Heo Jin Ho.”

Then he added, “Just like any youth, Kang Jae is a person who endures each and every day with vague anxiety. I sympathized with the changes of Kang Jae, who pursues the logic of money that is in the world and thinks money is love, that occur due to the development of the drama.”

Lastly, Ryu Jun Yeol shared, “I wanted to learn about Kang Jae’s life and loneliness with him. I wanted to express the youth I experienced, and I also wanted to express the philosophy of life that I had in my life and various thoughts that come from relationships and encounters. It seems like I’m still walking on the same path as him.”

JTBC has released a new teaser for the upcoming drama “Lost”!

The previous trailers were somber and sorrowful, but this time, the drama unveiled a romantic teaser that shows how Boo Jung and Kang Jae change after meeting each other.

The clip starts off with the two characters’ secret meeting in the middle of the night. Kang Jae, who does anything a client requests as long as he’s paid, asks, “What did you want to do?” The two go for a quiet and awkward walk on an empty railroad track. The scene changes to Boo Jung lying on a bed in a fetal position, and her voiceover asks, “Father, have you ever experienced something like this? Something like your heart beating so much that your clothes move with you?”

Boo Jung and Kang Jae start to be drawn to each other, and for the first time in a while, they genuinely smile. Before, they walked at different paces without talking much, but now, they’re walking together and laughing warmly. Boo Jung also pushes Kang Jae’s head onto her shoulder while he’s sleeping, and curiosity is mounting over their changing feelings for one another.

In one scene, the two characters walk on different sides of the road, but their gazes are pinned on each other. Kang Jae’s voiceover asks, “What can I do for her? What can I be for her?”

Human Disqualification' Park Byung-eun X Kim Hyo-jin, a different reunion still cut due to a difference in temperature

202108231023398995.jpg

Disqualification' Park Byung-eun and Kim Hyo-jin are entangled in a tough relationship.

Park Byeong-eun and Kim Hyo-jin work together in the drama because of the tough 16-year relationship between 'Jeong-soo' and 'Kyung-eun'. Park Byeong-eun takes on the role of Jung Soo, the husband of an infidelity and the manager of a department store food store. He is a warm, carefree man with no corners. He is a good son and affectionate son-in-law, but a close and distant husband. Kim Hyo-jin takes on the role of Kyung-eun, Jung-soo's first love. Since she chose to marry a man other than Jung-soo, she has devoted herself to taking care of her husband, but she is a woman who has never asked the time of her life. It raises the question of what kind of story is hidden between the two.

In the meantime, the different expressions of Jung Soo and Kyung Eun's temperature difference in the published photo stimulate curiosity. It is the essence of complex emotions, instead of gladness, at the sudden appearance of Kyung-eun without notice. On the other hand, whether he knows his heart or not, Kyung-eun's consistent smile creates a contrast and arouses interest. In the subtle air current between them, the eyes looking at each other also have an unknown vagueness. Attention is focused on the story of the twenty-year-old first love and thirty-five Jeong-Jeong and Kyeong-Eun, who have not yet parted, and the two people connected by a strong bond that does not break easily.

The cold gaze of negativity towards Aran makes these relationships curious.

The production team of 'Disqualification for Humanity' said, "The story of Denial and Aran, who turned into a bad relationship leaving a deep wound, is also drawn in an interesting way. It will increase the level of immersion by detailing the relationship and emotional changes of the characters.”

Disqualification of human beings Yang Dong-geun X Jo Eun-ji, this commission is already fun

image_readtop_2021_820904_16298547704762

Disqualification of human beings' Yang Dong-geun and Jo Eun-ji show off a slightly special 'Chin-chin' chemistry.

Yang Dong-geun and Jo Eun-ji, who are loved for their unique acting, cannot be left out. Yang Dong-geun takes on the role of Woo-nam, Soon-gyu's cheerful boyfriend and a nurse in the intensive care unit at a nursing hospital. He is sometimes immature and irresponsible, but when they are together, they are fun and reliable (?). Jo Eun-ji takes on the role of 'Soon-gyu', Woo-nam's loyal girlfriend and neighborhood pharmacist. She lived to protect her family rather than herself. So she grew up early and loneliness became routine. To his younger brother, she is a mother and father-like sister, and to Woo-nam, she is a special friend like an older sister.

In the photo released on this day, Woo-nam and Soon-gyu's 'On and Off' are included at the same time. Woo-nam faces death every day in the intensive care unit, where life and death go back and forth every minute. His serious face without a smile hints at his daily life in which he cannot relax even for a moment. Soon-gyu is a friendly neighborhood pharmacist who consults even the smallest concerns of her customers. Her friendly and warm smile shines brightly in her pharmacy, reminiscent of a human scent. In the photo that followed, a friendly moment between the two was also revealed.

Premiere Watch: Lovers of the Red Sky, Human Disqualification

by missvictrix

premwatch_loversofrs1.jpg

In our second batch of new dramas, much like last week we have two shows that couldn’t be more different: a fantasy sageuk, and somber-looking human drama. The former looks light and frothy, and stars a hero with dreamy reddish eyes. The latter looks dark, deep, and depressing, and stars a hero with dreamy long hair.

Human Disqualification

premwatch_loversofrs3.jpg

Time slot: Saturday & Sunday
Broadcaster: JTBC
Genre: Human, melo
Episode count: 16

Reasons to watch: It’s no secret that this is one of my most hotly anticipated shows. The tone looks quite somber and heavy, as it tells the story of Jeon Do-yeon and Ryu Joon-yeol going through dark chapters in their lives. But it also has one of my favorite storytelling elements: the bond that develops between two people from different stages of life who find they understand each other on a deep and almost spiritual level. At least that’s what the drama is promising, and what I’m hanging all my anticipation on. Well, that and Ryu Joon-yeol’s gorgeous long hair.

Watch: Ryu Jun Yeol And Jeon Do Yeon Are Mysteriously Drawn To Each Other In “Lost” Highlight Clip

843272a6755543d5a6fd45565c24415b.jpeg?s=

“Lost” has shared an intriguing new highlight video!

The JTBC drama tells the stories of average people who realize they haven’t become anything throughout their lives and try their best to see the spotlight. Jeon Do Yeon stars as Boo Jung, a ghostwriter in her 40s who feels lost and as if she hasn’t been able to amount to anything. Ryu Jun Yeol stars as Kang Jae, a man who runs a service where employees act out whatever roles clients request.

The clip begins with Boo Jung addressing her father in a sad confession that hints she’s going through an existential crisis. As a ghostwriter who suddenly turns into a housekeeper, she wonders, “Where did it go wrong? What am I so afraid of?”

Kang Jae also addresses his father as he admits he doesn’t think he’ll be able to amount to anything. One day, he overhears Boo Jung saying something similar at a bus stop. He watches her cry for a while, and his usually impassive expression slightly changes. When they’re in the bus, he hands her a handkerchief, and she gratefully thanks him. Before he could get off the bus, she grabs his sleeve, and he stares at her with wide eyes.

The video also shares a glimpse of Boo Jung’s and Kang Jae’s personal lives. Boo Jung is struggling in her marriage with Jung Soo (Park Byung Eun), and she is determined to get revenge against Ah Ran (Park Ji Young), an actress who is also her client. To make things more complicated, Jung Soo reunited with his first love Kyung Eun (Kim Hyo Jin).

On the other hand, Kang Jae is living an empty life where he plays different roles for his clients. He says, “I have a career where anyone can call me anytime without feeling pressured.”

Boo Jung’s and Kang Jae’s dark lives start to lighten with hope when they encounter each other. They cross paths multiple times, and they seem to live a deep impression on each other. Kang Jae, who always puts money first, admits he has followed something other than money after meeting her.

Towards the end of the clip, Kang Jae and Boo Jung meet on opposite sides of a crosswalk. They gaze at each other with longing eyes, and Kang Jae asks Boo Jung, “Can you be friends with someone like me?”

Jeon Do Yeon And Ryu Jun Yeol Talk About Why They Chose To Appear In “Lost” Despite Its Emotional And Difficult Themes

51488eac934349a0b636300b7ea7f28f.jpeg?s=

Sep 2, 2021
by C. Hong

On September 2, JTBC’s upcoming drama “Lost” held an online press conference with Jeon Do Yeon, Ryu Jun Yeol, and director Heo Jin Ho.

“Lost” is a drama about the stories of average people who realize they haven’t become anything throughout their lives and try their best to see the spotlight. Jeon Do Yeon stars as Boo Jung, a ghostwriter in her 40s who feels lost and as if she hasn’t been able to amount to anything. Ryu Jun Yeol stars as Kang Jae, a man who runs a service where employees act out whatever roles clients request.

The Korean title of “Lost” translates to “Human Disqualification,” and director Heo Jin Ho explained, “It’s about the loss and scars that accumulate when someone feels that they aren’t living up to the qualifications that define being ‘human.'”

Jeon Do Yeon said, “I had decided that even if it took a long time to find a good project, I would avoid content that was too dark or heavy. But when I read this script, I decided that I would take it on, even if it was dark, because it was about trying to find the light. I cried a lot when I first read the script. I got a lot of questions from the people around me. ‘Can Jeon Do Yeon really pull off a story about someone who hasn’t been able to become anything in her life?’ But somehow I could really relate to Boo Jung’s feelings.”

jeon-do-yeon-lost.jpeg

Ryu Jun Yeol said, “The script was good, but I really wanted to join the project because I would be working with director Heo Jin Ho and writer Kim Ji Hye. I begged them to use me. It was really easy to decide on the project. My character’s story in this drama is also about youth, but it’s different from the ones that I’ve done until now. Before now, I played coming-of-age stories, but Kang Jae loses his way after he starts to doubt whether what he thought was the right answer for him was wrong all along. I wanted to show a new side of youth, the kind of loneliness and bitterness that comes when you’ve lost your way.”

Asked about key points to look out for in the drama, Ryu Jun Yeol said, “I think it’s relatability. We talk a lot about the two main characters’ stories, but there are other stories in the drama that are really interesting. There are lots of diverse characters, but I want to emphasize that they are all ‘ordinary.’ That’s the important focus of the drama.”

Jeon Do Yeon said, “Boo Jung is someone who is tightly closed off, so I worried a lot about how she would open up through the course of the drama. I really worked hard in order to understand the character of Boo Jung. But as filming went on, as time went on, regardless of the work I put in or not, her heart opened to Kang Jae of its own accord. I opened up to Ryu Jun Yeol in the same way as Boo Jung did to Kang Jae. I personally would like it if the viewers went in to the story not knowing anything about Boo Jung. There are people in our lives that we might know without really knowing them. It would be nice if they just watched over her and cheered her on.”

Ryu Jun Yeol and Jeon Do Yeon, the lead actors of JTBC’s “Lost,” shared what viewers should look forward to in the drama’s premiere!

With only a few hours left until the premiere, Ryu Jun Yeol and Jeon Do Yeon revealed the key points that viewers should be paying attention to.

One thing the viewers are highly anticipating is the emotional synergy between Boo Jung and Kang Jae. Boo Jung is a woman who has lost her reason to live after facing a downhill path of failures. She becomes someone invisible as she embraces trivial pain. Jeon Do Yeon will portray her devastation, anxiety, emptiness, loneliness, and unfamiliar excitement.

The actress shared, “This is a story that seems dark and heavy, but at some point, it becomes comforting and empathizing, and viewers might find their ‘selves’ in it. The current appearance of Boo Jung in the first episode will give hints about her past. Please sympathize with Boo Jung, and sometimes, be comforted by her. Watch what kind of person she is and how she has lived. In particular, the first meeting between Boo Jung and Kang Jae is also interesting. Please pay a lot of attention to ‘Lost’ that will premiere today.”

Ryu Jun Yeol’s character Kang Jae is a young man who struggles to be free from poverty by using various shortcuts. However, he realizes he is going up a steep uphill road without accomplishing anything.

The actor remarked, “The stories of characters other than Boo Jung and Kang jae were also interesting, so I enjoyed reading the scenario. Please keep an eye on what happens to them in the future.”

Then he added, “I hope the viewers don’t judge Kang Jae after seeing him for the first time. I think this is a drama that can warmly embrace the viewers’ loneliness and make them experience humanity. This fall, I hope viewers will be able to enjoy a long afterglow and be calmly touched with ‘Lost.'”

  • larus changed the title to [Current Drama 2021] Human Disqualification/ Lost, 인간실격 - Jeon Do Yeon & Ryoo Joon-Yeol-Saturday and Sunday @10:30 PM KST

Wow - that has to be one of, if not "the" most excruciating first episodes I've ever seen.  That entire episode was drowning in depression and it was only the eyes meeting in reflection and the last second sleeve grab that broke the surface for another gasp of air. Credit to Writer/PD-nim, not easy to pull off that level of melancholy.

I have to find out what happens now - Looks like I'm in for another.

I agree. That was easily the most comprehensively depressing first episode of a drama EVER!

Worse still I can relate to the characters so at a certain point I had to stop watching.

I kept checking the forum to see who would be first to comment.

The melancholia was not overdone, it was just right. They were not out to make us feel pity or sad for the characters, their lives are just flat-line depressing and all the cast and crew did was show us that.

But whaddaya know!! I'm rewatching the episode again because I loved it!
