Plot:

Gorya is a low-class girl accepted into a prestigious high school attended by the wealthy. The school is ruled by an elite clique known as the F4, consisting of 4 rich, handsome, and spoiled boys. Gorya is the only one that stands up to their bullying ways, leaving all the boys in awe, especially Thyme the group's leader. Almost instantly smitten by Gorya, thyme romantically pursues Gorya, but she has no interest in him because of first impressions. She then falls for his best friend Ren, but Ren is in love with his childhood love. In all chaos of school, Gorya can't help but find herself falling for Thyme because of his generosity to her and her family, and his change of character.

Thanks so much for creating this forum! I'm really excited to check out this drama. It's going to be a long wait until Summer 2021! I admit I don't know that much about the cast, but the new trailer looks awesome! All of the F4 are so handsome, and the actress who is playing the Jan Di/Shan Cai role looks cute too. I'm looking forward to see how Thailand updates this story for today's audience. I really hope that the script and performances will be solid, and that we will get good storylines for each of the F4 members. The TV dramas always seem to not be able to create a good storyline for the each member, that 4th guy always gets left behind for sure. 

The trailers that I have seen look very stylish, so I hope that means GMM has put a large $$ investment into the production so that we can really believe we are entering the world of the elite. Thailand usually does a good job when it comes to adding glamour with their dramas,  so I can't wait to see what the sets and costumes will be like for this production. Hopefully, this drama will be on Netflix!

 

From the 2nd trailer, it looks like this version will be tackling the issues of social media and bullying, which it is good to see that they are taking inspiration from the source manga (bullying issue) and adding a fresh update with the social media aspects.

Absolutely! The F4 all soooo handsome. I watched Meteor garden (taiwanese version from 2001) and Hana Yori Dango during my teens. I know , its weird I haven ’t watched the korean BOF (its like the most popular kdrama ever lol ) or chinese MG , but I will watch those before the realese of thai version. Also I might rewatch taiwanese and japanese version because I have forgotten a lot. MG was more mature and had passionate kisses , while HYD was more on the cute side ,.. while I love 1th season of MG i HATE second season , so therefore HYD wins for me, the ending is also perfect  in HYD <3

Yes, the visuals are no joke for this drama! The entire cast, male and female, are very pretty. Over the years I've watched the Anime, Meteor Garden 2001 (Taiwan), Hana Yori Dango (Japan), Boys Over Flowers (South Korea) and Meteor Garden 2018 (China). I've also skimmed through the original manga.  Each version has its own charms, and each version has its good points and bad points. You should definitely check out BOF and MG2018! It's fun to see how each version handles the iconic scenes, and what changes they make to give it that local flavor and keep the story fresh.  For MG2001, yeah, just forget about Season 2! I just stop at Season 1, like you suggest. I agree with you MG2001 has the most passionate kisses. Jerry Yan and Barbie Hsu really delivered on the romance in that drama. It's still the only version where I truly felt that Shan Cai/Jan Di and Dao Ming Si/Jun Pyo were physically attracted to each other. It will be interesting to see if Thailand can give us some passionate kissing scenes or not.  I also agree with you that HYD gave us the most satisfying ending. Loved seeing the scenes where Makino and Domiyoji were an engaged couple, and then we got the wedding, and that final scene in the film where we find out she's pregnant. It was so nice to be able to follow our OTP through all the stages of their relationship. 

For me, BOF was the most glamorous version. I loved the over the top costumes and the sets. They even showed Gu Jun Pyo wearing the fur collared jacket which was straight from the manga. BOF also has the best 2nd couple romance, IMO.  Meteor Garden 2018 was different as they made a concerted effort to be more grounded with the characters and situations, but I really liked some of the changes that they made, and I have to say that MG2018 version of Dao Ming Si character is my favorite version.  That being said, there were other changes that I didn't like so much as well. 

 

I'm excited to see how Thailand will take on the story and the characters, and what changes they will make to keep the story fresh.  I hope that we will have a lot of good discussion with lots of people here in this forum. There seem to be a lot of negative comments over on Youtube about the trailers and the drama, which surprised me. I think the trailers are really good, and I'm looking forward to checking out the drama.  I do hope that this Thai version can be successful like the other ones.  I will be interested to know your thoughts about Boys Over Flowers and Meteor Garden 2018.

Well, according to the description of the series, you can understand that it is exciting. This series is very light and young. I am interested. I will definitely look at it. Also, the name of the series is interesting and explains a lot. For example, "Boys are more important than flowers"... I just love such TV shows and movies. There is a romantic in my soul.
In fact, all girls love flowers, and it is very cool when boys give flowers. So I think that one thing without the other cannot be and girls should not choose between colors and boys. Here are some interesting conclusions. I would definitely not want to select, because I love flowers very much and like to be given them.

hmm, i was wondering about this as Thailand has been recently remaking other series into Thai versions. all the actors are new faces to me and i have to get used to that lol but other than that, shall look for this on youtube somewhere xD

Ooh, you're here already? That was quick!

The Thai version of Hana Yori Dango / Boys Over Flowers is premiering on December 18th.

 

In the Korean version, we had an incompatible couple who by the end of the drama was strangely compatible. Go Jung Pyo and Jan Di fought like a cat and dog throughout the drama, but they had many cute moments too.

As you may know, rather than being a family holiday, Christmas in South Korea is more of a couple-orientated holiday. (Similar to Valentine's Day)

I had literally no idea another F4 would come. Nothing is going to beat the Taiwanese version from 2001. But might give this one a watch to see if it can be better than the more recent adaptions. The latest one from mainland was just so awful, especially with the whole thing about the cool guys playing bridge. Come on.

 The ML posted on his social media in August 2021 that they had started filming again after COVID delay, and the show might air at the end of 2021. 

The cast of F4:Thailand was on the cover of Mint Magazine September 2021 issue and someone at another forum stated they saw the cast doing promotion interview in Thailand, so it looks like the drama may premiere soon, if not by the end of this year. Someone posted there is a rumor that the drama might premiere in October 2021- we will have to wait and see.

Yes, it is difficult to predict when dramas will be airing because of the COVID causing delays. Hopefully, this drama won't have any more delays and we will be able to see it in 2021 at least. (Maybe it will be a Christmas present, LOL!) For sure I will be joining you in watching the drama. The trailer is awesome! I wish they give us another one while we are all waiting.

Indeed. VIU is not available here either .. I hope too it will be available on youtube … otherwise Netflix! After all Netflix had Meteor Garden before , so why not have the thai version too?  The previous versions all were so popular , lets see if thai version also will be popular . So far my fav version is the japanese drama version Hana Yori Dango, one of the first dramas I watched (when I was like 13 y/o) , let’s see if I will like this thai version just se much as HYD or who knows , even MORE. So excited for this~ so much nostalgia!!!
