Very Interesting.

 

 

Prim starred in Win's "Closer" Music Video from May 2021. They have such nice chemistry together. I worry this may be the only time we fans see them acting as a couple since the rumor is that Kavin/Kaning story will follow the Japan version where they don't end up together. 

Hopefully it is not true and we get a happy ending for this couple in F4 Thailand!

Well, well, well..... Ep 9 of F4 Thailand is following the original and the Korean plot quite closely. Many of the things I was expecting in this episode did come true.

 

Except for one thing. MJ's broken heart and a potential love interest. Omo! I'm onboard for MJ falling in love!

Thoughts on Ep 9:

 

I really like how the drama is finally incorporating more of its own original content/scenes into the story and not just following the Japan 2005 version blueprint for episodes. The death of Billionaire Pakorn and the Funeral scenes were just so great on several levels. We really see for the first time just how different F4 and Gorya's worlds truly are and the very real obstacles in their paths that won't easily be overcome.  As Kaning points out, unlike for people like her and Gorya,  this funeral isn't just a funeral-no one is truly mourning the loss of this man. Rather, the 1% are there to jockey for position in order to fill the power vacuumn. For the first time we see the F4 with their parents and in the context of representing their families. It is also a funeral for the childhood of F4. They are days away from high school graduation and are now taking on the roles of adults, especially Thyme who has taken his mother's place and is representing her and Parama Group at the funeral. 

 

The break up scene was heartwrenching. Kudos to Bright and Tu acting, the directing, and the scriptwriters. I like how the writing addressed the issue of class here, and acknowledged that problems don't go away just because you are a couple in love. Gorya will always be looked down upon by some because she comes from a poor background, no matter what. And it will be more difficult for Thyme too. 

While I did like the way the drama highlighted the class issue, for me the break up scene felt like it came a bit too early in the drama.  It really felt like Gorya was giving up before she even tried to fight. Also, Gorya hasn't fully commited herself to Thyme yet and declared her love for Thyme. Usually this break up scene happens after FL has declared her love and vowed to fight for acceptance of her and ML being together, and she battles the ML Mother until the ML Mom retaliates by destroying her family and friends, then she gives up. So for me the scene was not as impactful as it should have been. 

 

That said, the impactful scene was Gorya's brother Glackao departure at the train station. His sadness at Thyme not being there to see him off after they had bonded over the past weeks was . One of the things I really like in this version is Thyme's bonding with Gorya's family. 

 

I love the Lita character and her relationship with Gorya. I have always felt that this character is the female version of Thyme character which is why she feels an instant connection with Gorya character and wants to be friends. It's also why things ultimately don't work out with Thyme's character-they are too much alike to be lovers, even though Lita is also similar to Gorya's character. 

 

Since Lita is so similar to Thyme, Ren's BFF,  I feel she and Ren would make a great couple!  ( Even though Lita had a different fate in Meteor Garden 2018) Please writers make it happen! Don't leave Ren sad and alone at the end of the drama. 

Loved the Kavin & Kaning scenes this episode! More Please! I really hope we get a solid storyline with a happy ending for this couple. 

 

And OMG! The Secret of Iris! I am so happy that we are getting a proper side story for MJ! With a love interest! I'm sorry that this storyline can't be included as part of the main drama, but Thank You to KFC for paying for this mini-story so us fans can have more with this character! (At least, I hope there is more to come.)

Oh, Yeah! I love Double K couple! I want more scenes and I hope that their storyline does this couple justice!

Me, Too! I want everyone to be paired off and have a happy ending by the last episode of the drama. Everyone deserves love-I don't want to see anyone sad & lonely!

Lita's character annoys me a lot. I have always loved the fiance character in all the other versions, but i cant tell exactly whether its the acting or the script, her character seem so fake here. meh.

Yeah, the constant smiling was really random. Not sure why she was acting like that. She looked like she was happy the old grandpa was dead.

Then again nobody was particularly sad / sombre ??!?!?! Nobody said "My condolences" to any of the family. It was like some fashion show, who wears black best. 

 

This scene could have been handled better. They can still joke but maybe not in the funeral hall, but outside? ???

I agree. There have been barely any obstacles yet. Sure, mum is against the relationship, but she hasn't done much (yet). So I felt the tears were disingenuous, I didn't feel it. And, well, I don't really like this actress' acting much. 

 

 

But does anyone know why Gorya's brother  is leaving? I missed that part...

 

I also enjoyed Gorya's brother welcoming Thyme into the house and family, and the trio of them hanging out and chilling and simply eating ramen. It made Thyme give a home away from the plastic world he is in.

Hello there! For me, about their break-up scene. It is ok to show it early because I think they are doing differently this time. They are putting their version on it. Let’s just trust them, ok?  If we already know the next scenes then it won’t be exciting, right?  

 

As for your question, she also said in the earlier episodes, I think it is in episode 8, that her brother will follow their parents to their province so that is why he is going to ride the train.

I completely agree with your analysis. Too early, out of context now. Plus while I felt Bright's performance verisimilar and believable, Tu's didn't provoke any emotion in me, maybe not because of her performance but because her character still has to show me that  really cares about this guy, with facts. When she tells him she's exhausted, I really can't understand why this sentence now, too soon for me. Having seen other versions I am perhaps too conditioned.I think about what still has to happen, the obstacles they will have to face. This confrontation happened too early. 
So far I've understood the direction of the show, now I'm a little scared, I really hope to be not disappointed. 
 

The absurd thing is that I felt more truth in his brother's farewell and his regret at not having Thyme in their lives than I did in this episode's confrontation between Thyme and Gorya. Shipping this bromance!
