The first teaser video has been shared for SBS’s upcoming drama “Red Sky“!

 

A historical fantasy romance drama set in the Joseon era, “Red Sky” is based on the novel “Hong Chun Gi” by author Jung Eun Gwol, whose novels “Sungkyunkwan Scandal” and “The Moon Embracing the Sun” have also been adapted into hit dramas. It’s directed by Jang Tae Yoo, whose past works include “My Love from the Star,” “Hyena,” and more.

 

Kim Yoo Jung plays the role of Hong Chun Gi, the Joseon dynasty’s only female painter, who was born blind but miraculously regains vision. Ahn Hyo Seop stars as blind astrologer Ha Ram, who is able to read the stars despite losing his sight.

 

Gong Myung plays Prince Anpyeong, who appears to be a free-spirited romantic but hides a deep loneliness. Kwak Si Yang takes the role of Prince Sooyang, a cruel and ambitious prince determined to be king at all costs.

 

The teaser shared on January 1 gives a captivating first glimpse of the story. Kim Yoo Jung’s character says, “There’s a face I want to paint.” Ahn Hyo Seop’s character narrates, “There’s a sky I want to see.”

 

Gong Myung’s character shares, “There’s a name I want to write on my heart.” Finally, Kwak Si Yang’s character says, “There’s a destiny I want to steal.” The teaser ends with the line, “The only destiny painted on the red sky.”

The drama is scheduled to premiere in fall 2021.

Wow at the comments from the CEO!  I am an AHS fan but that is a huge prediction. That's a lot of pressure to put on his shoulders and the drama

The drama really has great potential. And I'm sure it has great potential for all the leads but yes, I think it's a special role for Ahn Hyo Seop as well.

I've read the novel for Moon Embracing the Sun but that was a while ago. So I can't really remember. My guess for Kwak Si Yang is that they will focus more on the political part of the plot?! But then I don't know the plot for Hong Chun Gi. 

and it will be in the autumn of 2021, there is spring and summer before fall 
yes I think the drama would be darker than the novel itself

I personally hope HCG wont focus on romance or comedy too much. I know the love story of CG and Haram is central of this novel, but when I read reviews from Knet and some international fans, they all say novel HCG is attractive in many other factors. Most of them made the general review that "HCG is more than a love story". So besides the love triangle, I wanna the drama focus on other parts, such as Chun Gi's journey to become a painter.

Hi, same sentiment here and part of me hope the scriptwriter can also go deeper with the topic of women's empowerment because HCG is the only female painter in Joseon Dynasty who became a government official and if we talk about Joseon era and gender equality, it doesn't match (?) okay sorry, I don't know how to explain lol

tbh for the official English title, I prefer they keep Hong Chun Gi but after read @sunlatte post, Red Sky is beautiful too and maybe because it's more catchy?  but why not they stayed with HCG lol

actually I'm quite surprise with haram's entire look because he doesn't look like in joseon era or maybe I'm wrong but he looks hella fine especially this scene

I can't see the images unfortunately but I guess you posted some images from the teaser. I think Haram's attire has something to do with who he is? Because in the clip from when SBS announced the drama and the cast, Ahn Hyo Seop is wearing Joseon attire.
