Excited for this one! Jang Dong Yoon was amazing in Tale of Nokdu, doesn’t hurt that he looks extra fine in historical attire either.

The main poster has been released which I find gorgeous! This drama will premiere on March 22nd on the Monday/Tuesday timeslot.  Source: Twitter, credit as labeled

Finally the confirmation is there for the new drama "Joseon Exorcist" which plans to air in March 2021 on SBS. :D

The drama will be written by Kim Kye Ok who is also writing the upcoming drama "Queen Cheorin" (official English title "Mr. Queen). :D And is directed by one of my favorite directors for sageuks who did recently "Tale of Nokdu" and my favorite drama "Tree with Deep Roots" but also "Six Flying Dragons". :)

Kam Woo Sung was cast in the role of Lee Bang Won who ascended the throne as King Tae Jong. He is a powerful king who however feels guilty to have killed a lot of people to gain that power. The evil spirit which King Taejong sealed away in the past resurrects itself on the land of Joseon. To seal the evil spirit away, King Taejong must fight against it again.

Meanwhile Park Sung Hoon was cast as Crown Prince Yangnyeong who lives in constant worry whether he will become king in the future since his actions never seem good enough for his father. He enters a contract with the evil spirit because of his greed.

Jang Dong Yoon was cast as Prince Chungnyeong who is only interested in academics but because of the evil spirit he enters the war to fight it.

Jang Dong Yoon, Park Sung Hoon, And Kam Woo Sung Confirm Casting For Fantasy Historical Drama

Jang Dong Yoon, Park Sung Hoon, and Kam Woo Sung will be starring in a new drama together!

“Joseon Exorcist” (literal title) will be a fantasy-action sageuk (Korean historical drama) that takes place after the establishment of the Joseon dynasty and tells the story of the undead who come back to life after being killed by the royal family. Writer Park Kye Ok (“Doctor Prisoner“) and producing director Shin Kyung Soo (“Six Flying Dragons,” “Nokdu Flower”) will be working together on the drama.

Kam Woo Sung has been cast as King Taejong, who sets out to control the evil spirits who have been reincarnated inside the kingdom. A coldblooded monarch who doesn’t hesitate to dirty his hands in order to strengthen his royal authority, he is proud to have helped his father establish the Joseon dynasty. However, deep inside he harbors a sense of guilt at the slaughter he took part in. In order to protect the country he worked so hard to establish, he will begin his final battle against the evil spirits who are upending the kingdom.

Kam Woo Sung commented, “It’s always exciting to work with amazing producers and wonderful actors. It’s a good feeling to greet everyone again through my first sageuk in 10 years. We will work hard together to present viewers with an enjoyable and thrilling production, so please look forward to it.”

Jang Dong Yoon has been cast as Prince Chungnyeong, who dives into war to protect Joseon from the evil spirits. Although he spent his life with his nose stuck in books, he ends up facing reality when Joseon is thrown into danger. Once out of touch with the world, Prince Chungnyeong will turn over a new leaf as a true sovereign.

Jang Dong Yoon said, “I’m extremely excited and honored to be working with such a good director, writer, and senior actors. Although it isn’t an easy role, I’ll take it as an opportunity to grow as an actor.”

Park Sung Hoon will play Prince Yangnyeong, who enters into a dangerous contract with the evil spirit to protect the ones he loves. As the first son of the king, he is the successor to the throne, but he lives with the constant worry that he won’t be able to get his father’s approval. Having always fallen short of his father’s expectations, Yangnyeong begins to stray and runs into danger due to his desire to protect what is his.

Park Sung Hoon commented, “I was drawn to the drama through Park Kye Ok’s alluring script as well as my absolute faith in director Shin Kyung Soo. It’s an honor to work together with actors whom I have always admired. I’m immersing myself in filming with a desire to learn. We’re working hard to create a high quality production, so please look forward to it.”

“Joseon Exorcist” will air sometime in 2021.

Dramas Postpone Filming Due To COVID-19 Pandemic

Many dramas and more have had to temporarily suspend filming or other events due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The drama “River Where the Moon Rises” (literal title), which stars Kim So HyunJi Soo, and more, has halted filming since November 19. A source from the drama stated on November 23 that a background actor (also known as an “extra”) who took part in filming for the drama has been tested for COVID-19. The background actor was tested after they were notified that they had come in contact with a confirmed case.

The source added that in adherence with regulations, the drama had immediately halted filming and they were awaiting test results. They also stated, “It was a day when the background actors were filming a mob scene, so they did not cross paths with the main cast.”

Following the “River Where the Moon Rises” actor being tested for COVID-19, the upcoming OCN drama “The Uncanny Counter” (starring Jo Byeong Gyu, gugudan’s Kim Sejeong, and more) postponed its online press conference that was scheduled on November 23, as the show films on a neighboring set and an epidemiological survey needed to be carried out.

Later that day, a source from the show told MBN Star, “We’ve decided to resume filming starting tomorrow.” They stated that the survey had been completed, and the actor had not come in contact with the cast or crew of “The Uncanny Counter.” The press conference has been moved to November 27.

A background actor who came in contact with a confirmed case also filmed for the Netflix series “I Wish the World Would End Tomorrow” (literal translation). A source from the show confirmed on November 23 that all the production team members who had potentially been in contact with them had received negative test results. Filming will be continuing as scheduled, while following guidelines from health authorities.

The cast and crew of the drama “Bossam – Stealing Fate” (literal title) were tested after a background actor tested positive for COVID-19. On November 23, the agencies of stars Jung Il Woo and Girls’ Generation’s Yuri shared that their tests have come back negative.

A background actor that filmed for the upcoming drama “Sisyphus: The Myth” (literal title) also received a positive test result for COVID-19. A source from JTBC stated that the actor had also been on the same set as the “Bossam – Stealing Fate” actor who was a confirmed case.

“When we heard that the actor was confirmed to have COVID-19, we immediately completely halted filming for ‘Sisyphus: The Myth,'” the source stated. The cast and crew who were on set with the background actor are being tested.

A source representing “Sisyphus: The Myth” star Cho Seung Woo stated that he will be following the guidelines of the production team and the health authorities. Star Park Shin Hye‘s representatives stated that although she had not been in contact with the background actor, she was tested on November 23 and is awaiting results.

The drama “Joseon Exorcist” (literal title), starring Jang Dong Yoon, Park Sung Hoon, and Kam Woo Sung, also halted filming on November 23. The drama put out a statement explaining that a background actor received a positive test result that day after crossing paths with a background actor from another drama who was a confirmed case.

Sources representing the cast have said that they are in quarantine and they will be tested if they are required by guidelines from health authorities. Kam Woo Sung’s representative stated that he had been on set on the same day as the confirmed case, and Jang Dong Yoon and Park Sung Hoon’s representatives said the actors had not crossed paths with the background actor.

1theK is also taking steps after an external staff member tested positive for COVID-19. They had participated in filming on November 20 and received their positive test result on the night of November 22. A source from 1theK told MBK Star, “The staff members who also took part in filming on November 20 are now in quarantine. They’ve been tested over November 22 and 23 and are awaiting results.” The building has also undergone disinfection.

Updates will be shared as they are made available.

Watch: Jang Dong Yoon, Park Sung Hoon, And Kam Woo Sung Battle The Undead In First Teaser For “Joseon Exorcist”

SBS’s upcoming fantasy action drama “Joseon Exorcist” has released a chilling first teaser!

“Joseon Exorcist” takes place after the establishment of the Joseon dynasty and is about the undead who come back to life after being killed by the royal family. Jang Dong Yoon stars as Prince Chungnyeong, a bookish young man who is forced into battle to protect Joseon from the evil spirits. Kam Woo Sung stars as King Taejong, a cold-blooded monarch who sets out to control the evil spirits who have taken over the kingdom but secretly harbors a sense of guilt at the bloodshed he participated in to help his father establish the Joseon dynasty. Park Sung Hoon also stars as Prince Yangnyeong, who enters into a dangerous contract with the evil spirits in order to protect his loved ones.

The teaser begins with the royal family being informed of a mysterious incident that has taken place at one of the major gates of Hanyang (the Joseon name for what is now Seoul). Park Sung Hoon and his retinue arrive to find everyone dead or turned into undead spirits with black eyes that attack on sight.

Chaos erupts all over the kingdom as these undead spirits attack with uncanny speed and strength. It also appears as though the undead spirits cannot be easily killed by traditional methods such as swords. Jang Dong Yoon picks up a sword and vows to lay down his life to protect the kingdom, while other people imprison some of the spirits, including a young child, to try and find out their motives for the attacks.

“Joseon Exorcist” premieres in March 2021. Check out the teaser below!
