Kim Myung Soo, Kwon Nara, And Lee Yi Kyung Face Difficult Challenges In “Royal Secret Agent”

KBS 2TV’s “Royal Secret Agent” released new stills of Kim Myung Soo, Kwon Nara, and Lee Yi Kyung!

Set in the Joseon dynasty, “Royal Secret Agent” tells the story of a secret royal inspector who goes undercover in the provinces to bring justice, uncover corruption, and solve the people’s problems.

Spoiler

The drama premiered last week, and in the first two episodes, Sung Yi Kyum (Kim Myung Soo), Hong Da In (Kwon Nara), and Park Choon Sam (Lee Yi Kyung) went on a journey to fight for injustice. The greatest mystery is Park Chul Kyu (Kim Seung Soo), another secret royal inspector who went missing. A courtesan named Sawol (Kim Ju Young) was about to reveal an important hint, but someone shot her with an arrow.

In the newly released stills, Sung Yi Kyum and Hong Da In are locked away in prison. Their expressions are serious, but Sung Yi Kyum seems determined to find a way out whereas Hong Da In looks upset that they’re stuck in such a predicament. How will they be able to get out of this sticky mess?

Sung Yi Kyum will face another crisis, and it will be with Park Choon Sam this time.

The two look shabby with dirt caked on their faces, and they naturally blend in with weary people who are struggling with their own problems. During one meal, Sung Yi Kyum stares at someone with anger and vigilance, and he looks like he’s about to start a fight any moment. On the other hand, Park Choon Sam’s expression is pale with fright and nervousness. What trouble will they face in the upcoming episode?

“The Penthouse” Stays Strong In Viewership Ratings + “Royal Secret Agent” Sets New Personal Best

SBS’s “The Penthouse” continues to stay strong in viewership ratings as it approaches the finale!

According to Nielsen Korea, the December 29 episode of “The Penthouse” recorded average nationwide ratings of 21.3 and 23.5 percent. This is a slight decrease from last episode‘s 21.0 and 23.9 percent, but similar overall. The lack of a significant drop in ratings despite these two recent episodes being rated 19+ is a testament to the drama’s popularity among a wide demographic.

On KBS, “Royal Secret Agent” set a new personal best with ratings of 5.2 and 6.1 percent. The drama had a solid premiere with ratings of 5.0 percent, rose to 5.8 percent in its second episode, dropped slightly to 5.2 percent in the third episode, and has now broken into the 6 percent range with the most recent fourth episode.

MBC is currently not airing a drama on Monday-Tuesday evenings after the end of “Kairos,” but the channel did add a new competitor in this time slot for the night of December 29 with the broadcast of the 2020 MBC Entertainment Awards, which recorded ratings of 6.3 and 7.3 percent.

On tvN, “Awaken” recorded ratings of 4.391 percent, a slight rise from last episode. On JTBC, “Live On” recorded 0.6 percent, the same as last week.

However, the entrance of an unexpected character catches them both off-guard. Sung Yi Bum (Lee Tae Hwan) is the half-brother of Sung Yi Kyum. Kwon Nara Is Displeased With Kim Myung Soo And Ha Young’s Closeness In “Royal Secret Agent”

KBS’s “Royal Secret Agent” has released new stills ahead of the upcoming episode!

“Royal Secret Agent” is about a secret royal inspector who goes undercover in the provinces to bring justice, uncover corruption, and solve the people’s problems. Kim Myung Soo stars as Sung Yi Kyum, the secret royal inspector, Kwon Nara stars as Hong Da In, a damo (woman who works in a government office) in disguise as a gisaeng (courtesan), and Lee Yi Kyung stars as Park Choon Sam, Sung Yi Kyum’s servant.

Spoilers

Previously, Sung Yi Kyum and Hong Da In joined hands to dig up corruption in the village. They went through various trials and tribulations as they tried to reveal the village chief’s misdeeds. The fourth episode ended with Sung Yi Kyum attempting to save Hong Da In who was taken hostage.

After overcoming many obstacles together, the two learned to trust each other, and their camaraderie is steadily growing stronger. However, the drama gave a preview of the changes that are about to happen in their relationship.

In the newly released stills, there is a strange atmosphere between Sung Yi Kyum and Hong Da In. Perhaps it’s because of the fair maiden Mi Ok (Ha Young) who came to see Sung Yi Kyum. He faces her with a gentle smile, causing a frown to settle on Hong Da In’s face. She gazes at them with suspicion, and when Sung Yi Kyum and Mi Ok go into a room together, she presses her ear against the door in a desperate attempt to eavesdrop on their conversation.

The drama unveiled another set of stills that share a glimpse of Sung Yi Kyum receiving a decree from the king.

One of the hardships Sung Yi Kyum experienced was being captured and forced to work in a mine with Park Choon Sam. Fortunately, Hong Da In came to save them with Choi Do Gwan (Shin Ji Hoon).

The new stills show Sung Yi Kyum accepting the royal edict with a solemn expression. Sung Yi Kyum was known for being a gambler and flirt who didn’t take his job seriously, but after witnessing injustice and unveiling corruption, he starts to mature as a secret royal inspector.

Hong Da In, Park Choon Sam, and Choi Do Gwan watch him with proud eyes, and viewers are eager to find out about his next mission.

This is one of those drama that I just watched for my own pleasure.   The only thing that I do not understand is why must they announce him as the secret agent if it's not going to be secret later.  Now everyone in the Palace knows who he is and what he is capable of .. isn't it dangerous for him?

(I must have been watching too much spy dramas/movies)

Thanks for the posts @Jillia

KBS is stingy on anything related to this drama for us fans to watch. WHY?! So mean!

I watched last night ep 3.

-I liked that Yi Gyeum and Da In are getting closer. The fact she smiled when she got the cream from him for her hands. Then when YG found out from Chun Sam that she is DEFINITELY into him. YG cannot trust it 100% but still smiles upon hearing the news.

-Glad that YG and DI got out of being killed and hunted by Little Sheriff Kang Jong Gil. Dang due to the corrupt Kim Byeon Geun, he killed both father and son. So now he motions to try to take away the ONE decent loyal subject who would have thought would be successful in Yi Gyeum.

-My fave part was Chunsam talking about Yi Gyeum saying he may not look like as he is flirty and a gambler but he is an EXCELLENT fighter. Plus saying he changed his lazy ways for love when Da In inquired about his past. He studied so hard for her to only have her taken away.

Cool finally will have his step bro now on the scene in ep 4 and I cannot wait to see tonight. Now 2pm and I have a few hours before I can get home. Sigh.

@Nodame

KBS was really good like 8 to 10 years ago with promoting dramas and uploading stuff on YT as well but recently they've become bad in that regard. I also think some videos might not be available for international viewers which is just sad. :(

@Jillia You know, I did do some sleuthing and saw clips but when I tried to watch on YT got the big ---- Not Available in your Country. For me, I am in the USA. So that makes sense.

But seriously there is not much marketing stuff either if you cannot rely on KBS.

Even other dramas have interviews or stuff--promotional on other places.

Sigh thanks for that reminder my friend.
