@Sleepy Owl, I watched Tower of God. It was interesting. I like this sort of anime. It’s a good thing you told me about it because when I started watching it today I realized that I had already watched episode 1 previously but it hadn’t drawn me in so I hadn’t continued with episode 2.

I have to say all along I didn’t really like Rachel. At first I didn’t mind her but as Bam kept talking about her as his motivation, I became increasing annoyed by his motivation. I think it’s because there wasn’t too much shown of why he was so attached to her. I actually prefer all of Bam’s other friends including the initially hostile ones like Anaak.

  Reveal hidden contents

So, after I reached episode 13, I was amazed that my intuition about Rachel paid off because as the episodes progressed she just seemed increasingly suspicious to me and sadly, I was delighted to finally find a concrete reason to dislike her. However, I know this anime trope and I expect Bam to sympathize with her after she betrayed him and make sure he helps her attain her dream. *roll eyes* This is often a trope that’s beaten to death in anime.

All I hope for is that he gets a new motivation. How about reaching to the top with his friends or something that is his own desire.

For some reason when I watched this at times it brought to mind Assassination Classroom. I have no idea why because the story is different. Maybe it’s the characters that remind me of some of the characters in Assassination Classroom. Heh

@Sleepy Owl I must go back and watch that episode 19 of Demon Slayer. I hardly notice things like CGI though.  I can only tell when things are really terrible to notice.  Anyway, indeed I expect the opponents to become tougher because it’s the only way the protagonist will grow. It’s like that with every action anime. The protagonist has to get power ups after they battle near death. Also, if Tanjirou wants to take on the bigwig demon, he has to become much, much stronger. Look how Inosuke was beaten by that tough father demon. When season 2 begins to air in Japan, chances are it will air on the same day on Crunchyroll here in the USA. I will keep an anime news to see when it will be released.

Well, not many would have thought Rachel would do it. At least the ones I knew who were watching, except me, none of them was suspecting this to happen. Since the main theme of this anime is betrayal and backstabbing, for Bam to feel it, it had to be Rachel. Now that you have watched the anime, I would suggest you to read the Manhwa. There is webtoon app which is free and the official chapters are released on it. I really liked the story so far and the characters developments that happened.

I am yet to watch Assassination Classroom. I have thinking to watch it since the start of 2020, I think I will watch it in a couple of months.

While watching Anime, I usually give extra attention to CGI and animation, and Demon Slayer was great in both of them. It was good throughout the Season 1, but was extra great in episode 19th. A friend of mine has been asking me to watch "God of High School" and said that it had much better animation in some scenes that the one in Demon Slayer's 19th episode. So I will give it a try, but it is good to see that "God of High School" had great animation, since the same studio will be producing Attack on Titan.

Yes, in most survival games like these, betrayal is a necessary component like in BToom or Hunter x Hunter. Hunter x Hunter, in particular I liked although the characters in Hunter x Hunter are more twisted and brutal at times. Funnily there’s a similarity in relationship dynamics between Bam and Khun and the protagonist of that show and Killua (assassin kid). This show is ranked #3 top anime by 1,414,000 members on Myanimelist and Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood is ranked #1 by 1,984,000 members.

In my opinion Hunter x Hunter should be #2 but there’s this show call Gintama (which is comedy and samurai stuff that people seem to like) that took the #2 slot despite having the same exact score and only 355,000 member votes. So technically both are tied at #2.

Usually I read a variety of opinions of an anime show to decide if it’s a show I might like. With God of High School, some people think it’s overrated and others don’t think this way. I think what made me put off watching it for a bit are some reviews that purported that the main character is wrapped in plot armor and gave examples.  However, even those reviews said the animation of the fight scenes were good.

So what’s the free app for webtoons?

So what’s the free app for webtoons?

The relationship between Khun and Bam simply great and wonderful. Rachel I got to admit, is the most hated character of this anime/manhwa, she gets more hate than the villains we'll be seeing. I have not watched Hunter x Hunter, my friend used to watch it. Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood is ranked #1 in many websites, including imdb, and I think it does deserve to be at the top (although I have watched not many anime).

Well God of High School, my friend told me that they fit 100 chapters in 13 episodes. So you can see why many think it is overrated, maybe also many must have found it rushed. I usually don't go for anime with MC having thick plot armor or is OP. I usually like to see the MC struggling, growing in the process, but still getting hit around and being defeated in fights. Like in Tower of God, I don't think anyone would have expected Bam to be pushed down like that, and we'll be seeing his struggles too. Same happens in Attack on Titan, Tokyo Ghoul and many more anime I watched.

The app for webtoons is called "webtoon". It is the official Application for "Naver Webtoon". There are many platforms in Korea for Manhwas, Webtoon is one of them and official platform for "Tower of God" and it is free. You just need to register with your email, and hundreds of webtoon will be in your hands. Just search "webtoon" in your app store, and you'll see which one to download. It belongs to Naver corp.

There is option to buy "Fast Pass", which I never tried, it usually gives access to next 3 chapters altogether, giving you a head start to the next 3 unreleased chapters, which Non Fast Pass members don't have access to. I found this useless until or unless you want to help the author, since after getting hands on 3 chapters, you'll have to wait weekly for next chapter to release. You'll just be ahead of others by 3 chapters.

Glad to see lots of people hate Rachel too. I’m not into hating characters maybe except certain villains, and of course as I mentioned I ended up disliking Light Yagami, but Rachel I disliked even before she betrayed Bam. It didn’t take me long to like Anaak and Endorsi. I was always suspicious of Khun though because he’s the type who seemed like a manipulator and a betrayer for his own goals but his back story quickly shed light on why he operates that way and I understood him better.

Indeed it’s nice to see a character grow and become stronger. Look how Tanjirou evolves in battles. Fights also hone battle instincts. There are times though when I want to watch a genius from the start, which are rare protagonists. An example would be One Punch Man. Although the protagonist was just a regular job seeking unemployed dude who was returning home from a job interview, he impulsively defended a kid from a monster and ended up bloodied but defeated the monster. After that he worked out like crazy, even lost all of his hair  but succeeded in becoming so strong that he’s undefeated.

How can a plot remain interesting with a highly powered protagonist? It works because the protagonist is easy going, almost always bored, has little ambition, and very few people know he’s that strong because other heroes has been given credit for his work by mistake. So he officially signed up for the Hero organization and most of the top officials don’t even realize how strong he is otherwise he would be classified as Class A or S rank. Right now he’s Class B rank hero and still largely unrecognized by the public and the hero organization.

Oh, thanks for the information on the webtoon app. I like free. I had already looked into a similar platform to read a webtoon but the fees were utterly ridiculous. I forgot what service it was but on Reddit people who had subscribed to it in the past also agreed that the pricing was ridiculous and extravagant.

Yeah pricing for many Manga and Manhwa are ridiculous and so I usually go for the free options, and seeing an official app with free Manhwas is a big thing. I am yet to read any other Manhwa on it. I will forward to your comments when you start reading "Tower of God" Manhwa.

Anaak and Endorsi are actually really good characters and I liked since the start too. There is one more character who is super good and among my most favorite ones. I will not tell who that character is, because I don't want to spoil it, but it will be sort of unexpected to realize how good that character really is.

Rachel well, will get worse. I was suspicious of Kun when that test instructor told Bam to be alert around him and not trust him so much. But he really is a good character.

I am yet to watch One Punch Man, but have watched a lot of its clips and I feel like it will be fun to watch it.

@H0ney, I have read Glass Mask manga through volume 37 in English. The rest of volumes I had were in the Japanese raw through 48. It’s such a shame that the mangaka won’t finish the story. I really enjoyed the story although it did get very dramatic at times. I’m just glad that the OTP development in volume 47 was a solid move forward and now all that’s left is the selection of crimson goddess and Masumi’s resolution regarding his wacko fiancée.

@Sleepy Owl, I watch Fire Force and actually enjoyed it after a second attempt. I also watched Dr. Stone which was quite interesting especially the science part.

@mirmz, I hear you. ^_^ I find the statistics on Myanimelist interesting with the rank of favorite characters among members there:

1. Lelouch  (Code Geass) - 128.5k

2. L Lawlett (Death Note) - 107.0k
3. Luffy (One Piece) - 95.0k

4. Levi (Attack on Titans) - 94.0k

5. Light (Death Note) - 81.7k

@Sleepy Owl, Edward Elric is #6 with 77.4k fans.

I so love their love story :bawling: the most romantic story in mangas.

Ok most of my mangas collections are romance or romcom. I don't want to buy anything to read if not romantic hahaha

@H0ney, I love Masumi and Maya’s romance too. It really is the best I have read including Mr. Purple Rose persona. :heart2beat: It was the only manga that made me want to learn Japanese. I bought books to self study and then crashed and burned at Kanji and their many readings.  The hiragana and katakana were easy peasy. In any case, at least a wonderful Italian fan created a website with volume summaries as a resource for English readers because the manga is officially published in Italy.

My friend told me that Dr. Stone's manga is still ongoing and a lot more is left in the story. So it will be one of those really long anime, and with the second season still on hold, I think I will not try it for now. Although I watched some clips and they were quite good and the whole idea of anime is interesting. I might give its manga a try though.

Among the most favorite ones, I think Lelouch does deserve it. I liked this dude, he was a calculating character, was mostly 2-3 steps ahead of everyone, and I believe they finally gave a really good closure to his character with the latest Code Geass movie. I know it remained a mystery for many years whether he was alive or not after the end of anime, and finally after so many years it was answered.

I am with "L" too. I don't know whether you know it or not, but this guy was supposed to finally catch Light in the end of Death Note, but the writers thought it would be too predictable, so they killed him, and well I know many who dropped the anime because of it. I also found the initial few episodes after his death quite boring, since the transition had to happen and the new characters had to be introduced.

About Levi too, he has got a very solid fan base in Attack On Titan fans. I know they are one of the biggest reasons that the author didn't really kill him till now, even after a very big deadly blow, where many were left wondering whether he was dead or not, he turned out to be alive. In the list above, he is the only one who is not really the ML of the anime. He is a side character, and is more famous than the main trio of the anime itself.

Edward Elric is good and likeable character too, but I won't be complaining him not being in the top 5. Would replace him with Light, but I know we've got a lot of people who loved "Kira". I am sure there must have been two groups divided when the anime was airing or the manga coming. One who be supporting him and the others against him, just like the same in anime. But Edward Elric was extremely good guy here. For me he could be among the top 5 adorable characters here.
