Ayame
@foreverempress The only place I know to watch the original version, is Viki: https://www.viki.com/tv/29539c-phoenix But it's not available in certain regions, so not sure if you're able to watch it there or not. @Susu This drama is a remake of a 2004 K-drama with the same name, so I guess that's why it looks old.
LeftCoastOppa
Comparing a relationship to a ... resilient GO board ... ? Lmangla
@LeftCoastOppa ~ am hoping the drama will settle into a groove and it will get better once we get the time leap. even with the older version, it was after the time leap the drama really hit its stride. right now, am still not getting a read on ji eun. reminds me of the question my english teacher asked of romeo juliet -- was romeo in love with juliet or was he in love with the idea of being in love? ji eun is such a volatile over-the-top female lead. what woman in her 20s is so over dramatically in love with being in love? rather than the class differences or we will eventually break up, sae hoon should have said -- girl, I can't handle your dramatics, thats why I am dumping you. hahahhahah.... more than the leads, am finding this train wreck of a relationship between na kyung and jung min fascinating. the guy is a coward hoping to hide his girlfriend and then so hurt that she might be using him for his money and so dumps her? ummm, okay then. meanwhile, she is like "I will have revenge on you now" -- now, that is a far more interesting drama. so will she get packed off to hong kong and then come back 10 years later with a child ready to do some revenge? now that is a daily I would watch! 1 3
joccu
@Lmangla I´m with you about Ji eun. I honestly don´t know if she really in love. It looks like she has this idea of love and maybe she want to stick it with her parents. I more into Na kyung story. maybe when there is the time leap i´m more into the leads.
Lmangla
exactly @joccu ; it is like she has read too many fairy tales, watched too many movies and has this idea that they will just fight for each other and everything will be magically alright. eye roll. at the same time, she is smart enough to know how her parents will react and start planning for her future independence. she is even shrewd enough to read jung min was really hurt by na kyung's words and assures him that na kyung is in love with him. so it is such a weird mix of naivete, childishness and shrewdness -- perhaps the actress isn't doing a good job of tying these really different parts of the character together. right now, it really does feel ji eun is more in love with being in love and yea, wants to stick it to her parents for trying to control her life. na kyung feels like such an unpredictable plot line and so am curious too how it will turn out.... 2

Okay - if that's the start of it, and the next 110 episodes are her learning about herself/love and then in the end figuring out how to love Se-Hoon unselfishly truly from the heart ... maybe it'll work 8 hours ago, Lmangla said: am finding this train wreck of a relationship between na kyung and jung min fascinating. the guy is a coward hoping to hide his girlfriend and then so hurt that she might be using him for his money and so dumps her? ummm, okay then. meanwhile, she is like "I will have revenge on you now" -- Agreed - although I'm getting a "hate all men/bane to all who try to love" vibe off her - I can see her coming back and trying to sabotage anyone who might just try and be happy. Hope so - I love me a good villainess ( still shaking my head about what they did to MH in Fatal Promise ) 5 hours ago, Lmangla said: was anyone else laughing when ji eun ran out in her bathrobe to meet sae hoon? ummm, maybe get dressed to dazzle him while you are arguing? foreverempress
Even for an OTP drama, I'm having a hard time believing the romance. They probably should have made all the leads sophmores in college.
crystaltears
The drama looks OK so far, even though I never heard of the original one before. I was also wondering what's with the white streaks of hair they are so distracting. The drama looks "old" probably because the camera/lighting looks more dull in SBS dailies compared to KBS' dailies.

uNiQueEkiX
i think why director want to keep both mother's and sister's hair that way considering the time lapse that will happen soon. maybe the style famous for that certain year.
Gaia2u
Like many here, I really was caught up in the original Phoenix drama... I think it was my 2nd drama with Lee Seo Jin, my 1st with Eric and Lee EunJu... they were all sensuous, many faceted creatures ... because of Lee Eunju’s suicide, I am always haunted with the memory of the series. She, particularly, touched me. I loved her raspy voice and chemistry with her two costars and was looking forward to see her grow as an actress. She was only 24! It was one of my first peaks into the difficulty so many of these young performers go through, the pressures that lead to desperate situations... unfortunately this cast is fitting in with so much of the current daily dramas for single-layered acting and characters, ultra slim and superficial attractiveness, no real sensuality that comes with multi layered characters - so although I might take a peak here and there to see how they carry out this version, I am really not enthralled. It’s time for dailies to know that they can and should do better... 1

I was watching this reality show where all these people are so IN LOVE! LOL. so I have decided that ji eun must be from that kind of dramatic cloth and just not take her seriously. then this drama becomes oddly amusing. I was laughing when the dad entered the hospital room when they were hugging and the two gasped. LOL jung in needs to make up his mind. chairman seo is a real moron. so he is going to register his grandson under jung min's ID and somehow that is good for the company. yea, okay old man. you would think that someone has to get jung min's permission to do that but apparently since he is waltzing the world, it is easy. jung in can't seen to decide whether he is aghast at having his brother be the legal father or not. glasses man, you are better off with na kyung -- just tell your dad to shove it as he doesn't even think you have what it takes to run the company anyway. jung in is another character who is so smitten with an idea. he wants to be free and since he cannot, he finds ji eun fascinating -- the wild child who does whatever. well, who is stopping him from being wild as his twin or ji eun? no one. but the big takeaway from catching up on this drama -- apparently having a wedding a dream means you will die???? what???? so all the romantics who dream about a wedding? LOL.
Ameera Ali
@Lmangla this drama going in circles, I can’t wait for the next chapter in the story and for the millions leg girl to show up , move on this begging of parents to approve what this spoiled children want But at least they know what they are so far Trapped Lead man : Proud Second Lead : Leash on Lead woman : Me too , I literally can’t afford to escape my parent power control Poor mistress: wow , these privileged children have audacity to judge me for not wanting to let go of background privilege when they can’t themselves Spoiler **my thought after watching 11/12 episodes
