After watching the episodes, I teeny weeny kind of want that foldable  galaxy phone. That  its mostly on every scene.

I see it on every current dramas.

It is easier to watch than I thought. I guess they will start the revenge for people who were wronged. There will be these little cases in each episode but we`ll find out more about Min joon and Haera. Of course, there are the ex and the rich woman. I am not loving this drama but it is watchable.

@larus, thank you for starting the thread. Waives also to @jongski  @Jillia,  @rocher22 I am here for the cast. I loved Kim Sa-Rang in "My Love Eun Dong." I liked Yoon Hyun-Min mostly in "Tunne

OK .... so he bought all those books to use them for fire wood? And he just moved his office into the building of the PI office?

 :surprisedwut:

Well, episode 2 remains as episode 1. The female heroine is not as kickass as her friend. I understand she is reticent, but it seems like she lost all her investigative journalism skills. All she did was upload the video on her channel, all the work was actually done by her friend.

That husband is a POS, abusing his family. I wonder why she simply stayed, when she let her son go abroad for school. Really, for appearance's sake and to stay popular, I suppose.

It seems like Hae Ra has a connection with what happened to Min Joon's family in the past. Hae Ra was there staring at Mi Yeon, Min Joon's sister while the house is burning. I think Min Joon has lost touch with his sister and is trying to find her.

From the character description, Min Joon will be avenging what happened to his family. Is Hae Ra's family connected with it? She doesn't seem to know him.

However, I have a feeling that he's supporting Hae Ra today to set her up for his revenge in the end.

The story's interesting so I'll continue watching.

By the way, Yoon Hyun Min's eyebrows were thinner in the first episode. In the second episode it was made thicker, hahaha. You'll notice it when you he has his face against the other lawyer at the police station and the rest of his screen time.

I love mysteries and revenge dramas too.

I have a feeling Hae Ra will get her revenge but I'm not sure about Min Joon. It appears he has been stalking Hae Ra. She is his target for revenge. But like most dramas go, he will fall for her at some point.

@agenth I did notice the book thing. He spent a lot of money to have the satisfaction of burning them. A nefarious plan of course. What did she write about?

@larus, @jongski  I've always loved flip phones and I'm due for a new phone and as I see in this drama, they are back and cuter.

Still not sure who is who yet. I didn't recognize the actress playing the short hair lady. Now that I know, she usually plays the meek doormat housewife. Is that old guy her husband or her father? A woman abuser is an abuser even if she's gone. I have a feeling he was abusing both of them; the wife and the kid. That's why she sent him abroad. And her son worries about her thinking dad is still beating up mom.

@reddragon I usually look at details like that, eyebrows, lip gloss on the guys, the actors walk, but I didn't look at the eyebrow difference this time. Maybe whoever was styling(plucking) the eye brows got carried away and in the end the result was thinner eyebrows. Or it could have been a request by the actor. ?

You're right. Something of an ill-fated relationship. But my heart hurts for all those books. Couldn't he have just bought ONE to burn? No, he had to buy the entire bulk of the bookstore that led me to think At first he had some sort of secret crush on her.

The dramatic optics.

/edit: I think it was some kind of life-advice / autobiography book of hers.

@brooksmom @reddragon He knows  (or knew of ) her from the past. calculating move deliberate set up accidental meeting, trying to win her over representing as her lawyer ( the charges were drop against HR, right, thanks to MJ). Asking her to make  avenge all the wrongs for other using her vtube influencer status

The last scene on ep 2. Burning the  many books..her books. He wants revenge (But what and why?). But then he will fall in love.   It's sort of like Money Flower drama.. at least with knowing and trying to set up then falling in love.

Get Revenge: Episodes 1-2 (Review)

by missvictrix

Revenge0102_1.jpg

This is what I’m talking about! Revenge plots with secret and complicated relationships are my jam, and Get Revenge is just that. The TV Chosun drama hit an impressive 4% after its opening week, and I guess that means I wasn’t the only one that found this drama not only entertaining, but a delicious expression of the genre.

EPISODES 1-2 REVIEW

Revenge0102_2.jpg

Like many a revenge story before it, Get Revenge opens with a confrontation scene that’s full of fury and flames (literally). It means nothing to us now, but I’m sure it will later, after we’ve watched the plot play out over the course of the drama. Why do dramas do this anyway? These no-context climax scenes are meant to hint to us just how high the stakes are, and just how crazy it’s going to get — and then, theoretically, the calm waters of a story’s beginning hold even more of a contrast.

That’s exactly what happens in Get Revenge, because after its fiery intro, we start at the beginning of our story. Our heroine in KANG HAE-RA (Kim Sa-rang) is a top influencer and celebrity. In the past we’re told she was a hard-working investigative reporter, but she left her position when she married top celebrity LEE HOON-SUK (Jung Wook). They’re society’s golden couple.

For me it held my interest enough to look forward to Episode 2. Episode 1  introduced the characters. It was not mindblowing but nevertheless enjoyable. I started watching this because of YHM, KSR is unknown to me. It is YHM's lawyer character that did well to build the story, even though this is about KSR's life. But his involvement shows that there is something like a grander thing than just her scandal.

I'm disappointed so far in the FL. She bores me to tears. But I'll give it time. Love the ML in everything I've seen him in. He's fun to watch.

Although I also agree that I thought Hera was quite boring, at least until that part at the end occurred at Episode 1, as for the whole part of Episode 1 she was quite helpless and one wonders why she didn't ask for others help before the papers were  served to her etc

. I haven't seen Episode 2 yet.

What the what. That was probably the worst, most nonsensical ending possible for this story. Did the writer realize the story didn’t make sense up to this point anyway and just gave up? And just gave us some sappy happy ending? With a sprinkle of incest as a cherry on top??

Biggest plot hole for me: shouldn’t all JYs have disappeared when he killed himself? Wasn’t that the point of why his mom was trying so hard to protect him? If he was only going to disappear in one world, why would any of this matter? And in how many worlds did JG’s mom already die? Wouldn’t that have set all the things into motion and created lots of JGs chasing the killer(s)? Was there something special about the JG we were watching?

I guess these questions assume some level of consistency and logic.

Sorry that dry as toast is for Revenge. Oops Posted it in wrong area

What I meant to post in this Revenge topic *fingers crossed doing it right this time* is, I'm disappointed with the choice of FL for the dynamic ML.  He is so good in everything I've seen him in.  I tried and I'll give it another episode or two but her acting...ahem...dry as unbuttered toast.

As many of you have already noted, the FL is a bit dry. Perhaps however, that is intentional.

Currently the Private Eye is outshining in her almost every facet - Maybe she teaches the FL the tricks of the trade, and soon she transforms into a true film noir femme fatale

The story is okay, and I'm loving the Private Eye so I'll keep watching

I am just starting to watch Ep. 3. But early in the episode's start, we saw Cha Mi Yeon who fled after seeing men waiting for her and managed to call her younger brother, Cha Min Joon. But she was dragged away by the men who chased her, while Min Joon saw Kang Hae Ra reporting that Cha Mi Yeon, according to an unknown entertainment CEO, was involved in a sponsor prostitution scandal, and received 10M won every time she visited a certain facility.

So I am thinking this is a tangled web story. Kang He Ra was there when the house were Mi Yeon was staying was burning and Eun Hye's (private detective) father was holding a baby. Who was that baby? Then she reported the story of the alleged involvement of Mi Yeon in a sponsor prostitution scandal.

Maybe Min Joon bought all of He Ra's books to give her a sense of stability, to make her feel special and famous. But there was a scene where a smirk showed in Min Joon's face. Burning all those books is a premonition, that he's setting He Ra up to something - his own revenge. Remember that he's still searching for his sister, Mi Yeon.

Regarding the FL being bland, I think it's due to her face. She's got a naturally sad face, and there are times when her smile does not reach her eyes. Compared to the actress Yoon So Yi, playing the role of private eye Goo Eun Hye who has a bubbly personality, and her face is a happy face, whose eyes reflect her smiles.

I was done with EP 3 and 4 and had some time to spare so I re-watched EP 1 and 2. The relationship between all the characters is like a very messily tangled web.

Kang Hae Ra

Spoiler

Came from a very humble background, a high-school graduate who became a reporter focused on entertainment news. During this time, she met Gu Eun Hye while stalking celebrities on date and most probably when she reported the news about Cha Mi Hyeon. She had long hair during this time. If Hae Ra known Mi Hyeon before, this timeline might be the first time she had contact/befriended with Mi Hyeon.

Then, it was told she put her career down when she got married during the book fansign. When she was pregnant, she had short hair. It was shown she saved Cha Mi Hyeon from the burning warehouse when she had short hair and the injury on her lips matched with one she had when she gave birth to the stillborn baby. During that time too, it was shown that Gu appa was there with a baby. All this happened approximately 12 years ago since Ga On is around that age.

While I don't have any idea how she end up at the burning warehouse, but I have a feeling that the baby carried by Gu appa is the one she raises as Ga On. I feel like she contacted Gu appa because she needs to adopt a baby and with her celebrity status, she tried to hire people to do it quietly. I don't think she and Gu appa have a close personal relationship because the way she saved Gu appa number is too formal-like.

Cha Mi Hyeon

Spoiler

Cha Mi Hyeon is definitely a victim of slander and she hold a very important information. That is why she was being chased by the tattoo man. Someone tried to kill her by locking her inside a burning warehouse. However, the burning warehouse scene differ with the scene where she was being chased by the tattoo man. She was wearing different dresses for both scenes.

It was mentioned that the chasing scene happened in Gunsan, and the reporter Min Joon paid also said that he saw someone resembled Mi Hyeon at Gunsan with an approximately 12 year kid with her.

My assumption is, they tried to kill her, but Kang Hae Ra saved her instead and then she moved elsewhere. But tattoo man found her and that is when she went missing until now. Other than that, considering that Hae Ra met Mi Hyeon before, I thought she left Ga On under Mi Hyeon care but since it was shown Hae Ra indeed transferred money to Ga On in CAD, Ga On is definitely out of the country.

Cha Min Joon

Spoiler

Alright.. Right now I feel like he is the one that is the most confusing among all.

What really obvious is he is currently on a mission to find his missing sister and seek revenge for what happened to his sister. That is why Kang Hae Ra is on his radar because she reported the news about Mi Hyeon. While he knows about Hae Ra humble background but it seems like he doesn't know the relationship between Hae Ra's ex-husband and Kim Tae On. He also did not know about Ga On not being Hae Ra's son until he sensed that there is something more about Hoon Seok dispute with Hae Ra involving their son. He also shown that at times he genuinely wondered how Hae Ra lived her life.

My guess is, he wants to elevate Hae Ra status so that she can do the digging needed for him to figure out what happened to Mi Hyeon and Hae Ra background as entertainment reporter gives better ground for him to work on. While he has hatred towards Hae Ra but I think it mostly because Hae Ra reported the news, not exactly because he knows the possible relationship between Hae Ra and Mi Hyeon. Based on his conversation with his assistant, he intends to use Hae Ra to obtain information and bring down the people who wronged his sister and not really about extracting information from her about her relationship with his sister.

Compared to Hae Ra, he is definitely more onto Kim Sang Goo. I think that he approached Chairman Song because he needs information about Kim Sang Goo. If he is onto Kim Tae On, he should have known about Kim Tae On and Lee Hoon Seok's relationship but there was instance showed that he doesn't has any information about that prior to Hae Ra's broadcast.

However, it is mostly just assumption because there is definitely a lot going on for him that hasn't been revealed yet.

Lee Hoon Seok

Spoiler

He is definitely a character I love to hate gladly. He is too despicable beyond words. On top of being domestic abuser, he is also a druggie. How he managed to keep everything under wrapped is definitely mind-boggling. His media play game is definitely on another level. I mean, he abuses Hae Ra for more than 12 years, she also went to get treatment at the hospital occasionally but no one exposed him? At all? He even coined as the most loved entertainer. Like what? Now I can't wait to watch his indefinite downfall since Kim Tae On absolutely on her way to abandon him.

I can't wait to watch how the story unfold and the messy web untangled with every revelation. The plot is still interesting for me to follow that I can ignore how stiff Kim Sa Rang is. While I can see she is trying, but she felt short in comparison with Yoon So Yi and Yoon Hyun Min. Her facial expression doesn't change much despite the situation she is in and that took away my attention on some of the intense emotional scenes. And that perfect skin and perfect hair on every single situation got to go. How can I believe she is in despair if her appearance especially her face looks so perfect?:crazymad:

I agree with you @kdramagrandma, Kim Sa Rang looks bland compared to the private eye, because she has limited facial expressions. She's one of those so-called actresses with stiff-as-a-board look. Looking at her body of work so far, she's been like that ever since. I've seen her in Secret Garden and she was as stiff then as she is now. And maybe her ''no single strand of hair out of place'' look is a throwback to her Miss Korea days when the candidates have to look immaculate and neat.

From the recent episode, it seems that Cha Min Joon will continue to defend crooks because he is a lawyer. But on the side, he will use the information he has on his clients to avenge the wrongs they did to the victims, using Kang Hae Ra and Goo Eun Hye. The two women can gather all the hard evidence they need to expose those wolves in sheep's clothing, so to speak.

There is still the question of who sent the message to Hae Ra that led her to go to the private detective agency? Was it really Eun Hye's dad?

I believed so because she saved the number as Gusan Agency Gu-Sajangnim(Boss). I think he messaged her to contact him but since she knows about the agency, she went straight to the office and met Eun Hye instead. He might thought that Hae Ra will call or message him first. So, the meeting between Hae Ra and Eun Hye was a coincidence.
