I liked this drama. I barely watched Eun Woo on My Id Gangnam, but I found his acting better in this drama. I think he has improved himself. Both Male lead are chosen good. The second male lead looks like Lee Joongi. But he is same age as me, I was shocked. Because he looks like 18 years old. I even thought he was younger than Cha Eun Woo. The series was beautiful. I am glad that the Female lead found her own solution after being bullied. Lee Su ho's character being suffered from the passing of his loved ones in his past and I liked the fact that the Female lead comforted him. In the last scene, again, Cha Eunwoo saved the lead girl in the same way. I'm waiting curiously for the other episodes. Although the plot of the series is simple, it was very fluid and fun.

Someone mentioned how unrealistic this show was having all these guys fighting over her or showing interest. I think that that is the whole point. When you have a story and this is a story not a docud

Ahahah looks like I'm not the only one who thinks In Yeop/Seo Joon is a Lee Jun Ki lookalike.:glasses: @Selin Eroğlu And yea I was shocked when I found out he's 30. I was like WHAT LoL.

Not a fan of Eun Woo, I am having serious second male lead vibes yo! Seo Joon's quite the babe. Idk I just have a thing for bad boys.:kiss_wink: Plus he seem to have more.. personality I guess?

Why I feel there's a better loveline between Ju Gyung and Soo Jin LMFAo!!?? She's a total girl crush as Soo Ah says. I like how sweet Soo Ah and Soo Jin were toward Ju Gyung. I just hope they'd like her without makeup as well.

This is yet another K-Drama where the bullying is toxic ugh. I find the kids who taunt and mock Ju Gyung to be uglier. That's because they have sucky attitudes & well just suck as human beings overall. That scene where Ju Gyung came with a helmet was hilarious!

I am 30 and Watching this Drama consisting of some 18 year old characters, and wondering Which ManChild to Swoon On ...Omo.

I have a Lot of Incoherent Thoughts.

Ok First of All the show maintained its LOL phases to a T.It rarely has a Downer Moment.

IJG is funny, Her struggle for acceptance and survival is real.I was an Overweight Girl in College for 2 years and Lost weight and was tagged as the Pretty Senior and I KNOW how the BEAUTY perception changes Once Acceptance Mindset.I dont blame her for Self doubting who the Real she is, who the People are Seeing the Real HER AS.Unless she learns to accept herself and be confident it will not be that easy.A BANANA ripe does taste better with tinted skin but consumer always prefers the Clear Ones.

Keeping that aside, Girl needs to Join Yoga Classes her lack of Balance is the Third Wheel for both the Leads.Every single one of them Outshadowed its predecessors.

Her sister and Her relationship seems real.Especially the part where 18 old kid seems to cry about her Tragic Life to a 28 year old.I say the same thing to my sister , 18 years and You have a tragic life? she rebutts about my old age stating that it is a tragic Life lmao.

Now Onto Team Suho v/s Team Seojoon, Can I have them Both?? Anyone from India or those who have watched Shahrukh Khan's Movies , there was Literally a scene where IJGs friend was narrating the Boys one looked liked DDLJs SRK with water Pouring from Head and the Other from Mohabbetein.I mean wow.

The entries while meeting both the guys, I dont know Whom to choose.I have not read the Webtoon And so I dont know.The Simmering Hot Tsuendre Manchild or Bad boy Idol Biker Manchild.My Teen Heart is jumping up and down Lol.

:bashful:

I know CEW from his Child actor series and the guy playing SJ looks lowkey like Young LJG. The show got some Heirs vibes with the way Seojoon speaks to his gangster friends.Baby LMH vs Baby LJG Omo Omk... The difficult choices.

We had a GOBLIN Moment in a Show With sprinking of Nostalgic Heirs, I swear if I again hear LOVE IS THE MOOOOMENT imma gonna hit someone right off the bat.THE show is Hillariously done right.My stomach and Jaw are still hurting from all the Laughs.:loolz:

Waiting for next episodes , the show gave me much needed Laugh missing from a Lot of shows these days.

Special Mention-Seojoon BGM, It sets a Groove on.

True Beauty Ep 1 & 2 Review:

Themes: I really loved how they addressed the topics of bullying, suicide, pretty priviledge, hate comments about celebrities because these are very real issues in Korea. I was actually pleasently surprised that when I went into Naver Talk after the episode there were actually knetz in the chat room talking about their bullying experiences. That is what I am most excited about when it comes to True Beauty is the conversations it can start.

Suho & Seojun: No this isn't about teams. :joy: It's about their broken friendship. There is a story behind that and i can't wait to see how knetz react because what happened is a very real issue in Korea. In the wentoon they werent this bad but the way that is amplified here I can't help but think their storyline will be a main one, which I am very excited about. Also, really loving the chemistry between Eunwoo and Inyeop. The scene where Seojun came back and saw Suho again and they just stared at each other, you could really feel the tension. Great casting.

The Jujitsu Scene: Honestly, that was the best acting I have seen from Eunwoo. The scene where he was fighting his father and he was having flashbacks. Just how natural his expressions were, the emotion in his eyes, the fact he was doing 100% of his stunts at the same time. Also the conversations before and after the micro expressions and how expressive his eyes were while talking to his father....everything was on point. I think that one scene showed how he can be a good actor in the future.

Those are just my food for thought from the first two episodes. Can't wait until next week.

For a guy who doesn't want attention at school, the main lead broke from his ice cold exterior pattern to help our main girl, which leads me to think that he knew all the time that the "angel junior" was the "ugly pimpled faced girl". Why else would he help her, when he even stepped over her instead of helping her? His personality seems to me to think that he's been burned by fake friends and people because of his status/riches, that he now tries to avoid everyone. He doesn't seem to have a single friend, and even worse, has a strained relationship with his father.

Of course there's the story about the two guys whose tension is palpable. There's not much there yet to this story, but one can tell it's a love triangle.

The clumsy part is over-the-top, but I know that's how the character is supposed to be.

I mean I liked the first 2 episodes but not sure how to feel about that's basically what the FL does all the time. I like though she is very much aware how different she is treated when she was "ugly" and now.

Hubby :: Hey hon, you said LSH is the smartest kid in his class right?
Me :: Yup.

Hubby :: You're sure?
Me :: Yes. Wae?
Hubby :: Huh.
He signed the underworld oath with her name clearly there, yet he didn't catch it that she was the same new girl in his class?

Me :: Wait what? (*Hubby showed me the paused screen (EP2 minute 33:23) to show it's Lim Ju Kyung on paper*) Huh, it is LJK. Wow, I can't believe you actually notice that.

Hubby :: I can't believe you didn't. You watched it like what, 5 times?

Me :: 4 and I'm not ashamed of it :P And since when you can read hangul?

Hubby :: We stayed at home too long, babe. Too freaking-long. Haish....

Okay, so did LSH really missed that one out? Or did he actually know but decided to play along with LJK?

@AnneHeart

He might pretend he doesn't recognize her. Like I know makeup can do wonders but still.... I think he would be a bit dumb if he didn't recognize her. LMAO But I guess the twist is gonna be that the other dude who got to know her pretty self will even recognize her without makeup?

@Jillia

IKR LoL. It's like she doesn't look that much different..?! Kind of like Lois Lane wasn't able to tell apart Clark Kent from Superman!:tounge_wink: I mean it's just the glasses. :joy:

The clumsiness starts to annoy me by ep. 02 tbh. Even Su Ho remarks, You keep landing in my arms everytime we meet

@agenth

For me I was confused like I thought he disliked Ju Gyung so why did he save her in that scene? Was it because he has a heart and wanted to be nice LoL? But yea his dad's a P.O.S. I'm curious to know what Seo Joon's story is. Like they mentioned he took leave over family matters something about his mom?

Su Ho reminds me of Yoo Joong of Cheese in the Trap. I don't get the comparison with Seo Joon and Young Do from The Heirs. 'Cause Young Do was really mean to the fl.

@AnneHeart

See? This is why one must know a language yo LoL. Good on ya hubbs though:piggydance:Also shows that those who provide subs are doing an awful job. I mean they don't translate stuff like texts messages (some) or letters etc. Like a passage from a book ya get the idea. I understand it's not easy providing subs, still it's the least they should do.

I don't think the ML particularly dislikes the Pretty Girl in school. He just seems to loathe everyone equally and the second male lead especially. Everyone is the same to him, probably, akin to sycophants and people who just want something of him or are superficial. Thats why he treats everyone like crap so they leave him alone.

He was treating her badly, because she kept trying to talk to him in school (when she assumed that he knew who she was in reality), to him it must have looked like she was coming on to him.

Then again I recanted my opinion when assuming that he knows the real her. Either he does or he is feeling especially merciful. The other kids didn't exactly bully her, they were just all over-the-top concerned since they accidentally caked her, though from the Male's perspective it might have looked like bullying?

I had a good time watching the first 2 eps and I love the casting. Moon Gayoung has always been good at  comedic scenes so I had no doubt she will nail Jugyeong's character. Cha Eunwoo as a cold character is better here compared to MIIGB, probably because Suho as a character has more personality than Kyungseok. Hwang Inyeop is really charming as Seojun and he really does look like Lee Junki.

I think at this point it's quite clear that Suho is starting to be fond of the comic book girl and enjoying her company. He spent the day until night with her in the store, and he went out of his way to find out her number, asked her to meet up at the cafe at night to return the book, but then ordered a drink for her which means he wants to spend some time with her.

And I think the only reason he would help her at the end of episode 2 is because he at least has started to suspect she's the comic store girl? Or else he'd have no reason to help her seeing how he treated the 'make up' Jugyeong so far.

I also need explanation as to why he didn't notice her name in the agreement. Maybe he just didn't care abt her name & didnt take a good look at it? I don't think he pretended after that because he seems genuinely didnt know yet when Jugyeong called him to the rooftop.

Maybe bc I watch a lot of Japanese dramas idk but the cringyness/over the top-ness doesn't bother me lol.

I'm pretty sure Suho knew by the end which if so I'm glad they aren't dragging it out bc he's a smart kid he should be able to put two and two together. It shouldn't take all season long.

As a person who has read the webtoon, here is my take.

__Spoiler___

Spoiler

There are a lot of things that are yet to revealed properly. Both Suho & Seojun were once friend. Suho has emotional scars & Seojun problem are more monetary. However, there is one thing that caused the feud between them which was emotionally unbearable for both especially Suho. I hope PD concentrate more on their friendship thn love triangle.

In webtoon, Lee Suho is my favourite character coz he has heart irrespective of how cold he looks. I particularly enjoyed his friendship with Seojun (when it was shown) & his relationship with girl was so comfortable. It was all about their real self. I don't know how it will be depicted here.

 __Spoiler end__

So, far I am enjoying it

Watch: ASTRO’s Cha Eun Woo Can’t Stop Teasing Moon Ga Young Behind The Scenes Of “True Beauty”

tvN’s “True Beauty” has shared a look behind the scenes of what went on in the first episode!

Based on a hit webtoon, “True Beauty” is a romantic comedy about Lim Ju Gyeong (Moon Ga Young), who zealously uses makeup to hide her bare face and combat her insecurities about her looks. After she meets Lee Su Ho (Cha Eun Woo), a popular student who has his own emotional wounds, they share each other’s secrets and learn to heal through love.

The making-of video begins from the scene where Lim Ju Gyeong’s mother Hong Hyun Sook (Jang Hye Jin) is shocked by Lim Ju Gyeong’s overdone makeup. The two actresses appear to have grown close already, and Kim Min Ki, who plays Lim Ju Gyeong’s younger brother Lim Ju Young, comments that they look like actual mother and daughter.

Next, Moon Ga Young and Cha Eun Woo are at a rooftop to film the scene of Lee Su Ho’s first appearance in the drama. Moon Ga Young has to fall on Cha Eun Woo perfectly, and they do repeated tries to get the scene just right until the sun eventually sets. Following the difficult scene, Cha Eun Woo coolly walks away from Moon Ga Young. After realizing he forgot to say a line, he returns and apologizes with an awkward laugh. In the next try, Cha Eun Woo says his line correctly and walks away. Moon Ga Young, as Lim Ju Gyeong who has lost her glasses and can’t see properly, follows him while stumbling, making the staff member holding the behind-the-scenes camera laugh. The staff member tells her he laughed because she’s cute, and Cha Eun Woo points at Moon Ga Young.

The video cuts to Cha Eun Woo rehearsing and filming his jujitsu scene. He learns the complicated moves and executes them perfectly during the shooting.

Spoiler

cha-eun-woo4.jpg

Cha Eun Woo and Moon Ga Young are then shown at the comic book store. Moon Ga Young has to fall on Cha Eun Woo again, and she asks the director if she has to hold his arm as she falls. When she’s told that it doesn’t matter, Cha Eun Woo pretends to have known all along and says, “See, it doesn’t matter,” earning himself a little punch from Moon Ga Young. He even jokes that he has to brace himself for the force of her weight on him, and Moon Ga Young pretends to curse at Cha Eun Woo while covering her mouth from the camera’s view with her hand. From behind Moon Ga Young, Cha Eun Woo playfully brings the book in his hand in and out of her view, and she plays along by trying to catch the book.

They begin filming the falling scene, and Cha Eun Woo fails to hit the light above his head while falling as he’s supposed to. They try again, and he fails again. Moon Ga Young jokingly pressures him by pointing at the light he’s supposed to hit, and Cha Eun Woo brings his head down out of sorriness. They finally succeed in the third take, but what they have to film after that is no easier. To get a closer shot of the fall, the two actors have to repeat the last part of the fall, forcing Cha Eun Woo to repeatedly lift his upper body as if he were doing sit-ups.

Spoiler

cha-eun-woo-moon-ga-young4.jpg

Moon Ga Young and Cha Eun Woo are seated on a sofa to film a scene of Lim Gu Gyeong eating ramyun as she reads a comic book. For the scene, Cha Eun Woo says his line, “How old are you?” and Moon Ga Young answers with her mouth full of ramyun. Feeling like she has too much food in her mouth, she stops and asks to do another take with her mouth less full of food, but the director tells her it looked perfect the way she had it.

I totally love the first 2 epis!! So cute and made me guffaw several times.

I guess in this time of COVID, I really need a drama that is light and makes me laugh.

And this is in the midst of beauty issues, suicide and bullying.

Thank you Drama Gods for giving me something to look forward to.

This I can agree with. This is honestly a cheesy, cliche, rom com and im okay with that. Though there will be heavy topics explored but probably not in a very heavy way. Thats why I really appreicate the humor because it balances it out. Not every drama needs to Penthouse. Sometimes we all just need something to help us forget how much this past year has sucked and this drama definitely helps with that.

I know right? The situation right now is scary enough and heavy enough that I just want a light and happy drama. I know that there are going to be some heavy topics later on but most of the time I'm thinking this is going to be a breeze.

Oh absolutely. And I think that's why this drama appeals to all ages. We all want the same thing. Plus the humor is so good. The drama really has some laugh at loud moments and makes you want to rewatch it. Yes most of this will be a breeze. And I like that they are going to address heavy topics cause it can start a discussion and I'm honestly looking forward to that.

1. Both times that Suho acted extremely rude had to do with photos of him. The first time was when the girl confessed and had pictures of him. First of all where did she find those photos? There was also a photo that was zoomed in on before he knocked it out of her hands. It makes me wonder why that photo triggered him. The second time was when a girl took photos of him without his consent, I think that is especially important to remember. It was revealed by Sujin to Ju-gyeong that she should have known he didn't like having his picture taken. So while it may extreme to the viewer, it is implied that this is known around the school. Suho is rude but I honestly feel there is a reason behind it. I'm sure more will be revelaed.

 2. I like how they are addressing both sides of the coin when it comes to issues. For instance, Ju-gyeong got bullied so badly that she learned how to use makeup just be accepted. She didn't even have a friend until she became pretty. On the other hand, Suho, who has natural good looks is constantly getting attention when he just wants to be left alone. Another example is social media. In Ju-gyeong's case she used social media to make friends because she didn't have any in real life. In the first episode we find out a celebrity Seyeon commited suicide because of comments left by netizens on social media.

3. I like that their characters are very flat right now because it will be easier to see their character growth as the series continues.

That's all I have for now.

Watch: ASTRO’s Cha Eun Woo Successfully Protects Moon Ga Young For “True Beauty” Filming

tvN’s “True Beauty” shared a behind-the-scenes look at the second episode of the drama!

Based on a hit webtoon, “True Beauty” is a romantic comedy about Lim Ju Gyeong (Moon Ga Young), who zealously uses makeup to hide her bare face and combat her insecurities about her looks. After she meets Lee Su Ho (Chan Eun Woo), a popular student who has his own emotional wounds, they share each other’s secrets and learn to heal through love.

The video begins with Moon Ga Young applying makeup on just half of her face, which makes the staff laugh as they comment, “You look scary.” Moon Ga Young smiles at the camera as she shows off her half face of makeup and asks which side looks better. After filming a scene with Kim Min Ki, who plays Lim Ju Gyeong’s younger brother Lim Ju Young, she asks him which side he likes better. He replies, “The right side,” which is the side with no makeup, so she playfully hits his arm in retaliation.

In the next clip, Cha Eun Woo and Jung Joon Ho, who plays Lee Su Ho’s father Lee Joo Heon, rehearse for their scene inside a jiu-jitsu academy. While waiting to film, Cha Eun Woo shows off his purple belt. Although he says he doesn’t know why his belt is purple, he then wonders if it was selected on purpose because purple is the color of ASTRO’s fan club AROHA. The pair of actors pour all their energy into filming as they tussle on the mat to complete a perfectly choreographed scene. Afterwards, Cha Eun Woo slouches on the mat as he says with a tired smile, “For the sake of an awesome scene.”

Cha-Eun-Woo-11.jpg

The video then cuts back to Moon Ga Young as she shares a laugh together with Kang Min Ah and Park Yoo Na, who play Lim Ju Gyeong’s friends Choi Soo Ah and Kang Su Jin. After she films a close-up take for the scene where Lim Ju Gyeong gets hit by a flying cake, Kang Min Ah reports that Park Yoo Na had an unenthusiastic reaction. Moon Ga Young turns to Park Yoo Na and tells her, “Let’s try harder,” to which Park Yoo Na says jokingly, “It’s just Su Jin’s personality!”

Moon Ga Young then gets cream that looks like cake icing applied to her face and films a scene where she tries to hide her real face by keeping her classmates away. After the director says, “Okay,” Moon Ga Young can’t hide her laughter at Kang Min Ah’s panicked scream.

Next, Moon Ga Young rushes through the hallway to film a scene where she steps on the back of Hwang In Yeob, who plays the school rebel Han Seo Jun. Afterwards, Kang Min Ah and Park Yoo Na smile for the camera as Hwang In Yeob jokes around behind them.

Cha Eun Woo and Moon Ga Young get together to rehearse for the scene in which Lee Su Ho covers Lim Ju Gyeong’s face with his jacket. As they prepare to film, Moon Ga Young tells Cha Eun Woo about getting hit by the cake, and he listens to her intently. She also swipes some cream off her face and tries to put it on the back of his hand, but he avoids it and asks, “Is it a makeup product? You want to test it out?” Eventually, Moon Ga Young succeeds, and Cha Eun Woo looks at the cream on his hand in defeat.

Spoiler

Moon-Ga-Young-Cha-Eun-Woo-21.jpg

Finally, smoke is added to give some dramatic effect to the scene, but the two actors end up having to film another take since too much smoke blew past the camera. After one more take, the pair complete the scene without a hitch.
