[Drama 2020/2021] Run On, 런온

Recommended Posts

In his poster, Im Siwan transforms into Ki Sun Kyum, who’s described as “a man whose fate is to only run forward.” Ki Sun Kyum usually doesn’t race without warming up first in fear of hurting himself, but when he sees Oh Mi Joo, he begins to run. As he’s catching his breath, Ki Sun Kyum sees Oh Mi Joo in front of him and smiles, unable to hide his happiness.

Meanwhile, Oh Mi Joo is “a woman who must look back as if she’s affected by inertia.” She appears surprised to see Ki Sun Kyum, who has raced over to her. Oh Mi Joo, who had only kept rewinding scenes from films she translates, is now looking behind her in the real world—and that’s because of Ki Sun Kyum, who is always finding his way toward her.

Ki Sun Kyum begins to smile in a way he hasn’t before, and Oh Mi Joo continues to be surprised by his bright expressions, hinting at a budding romance.

Watch: Girls’ Generation’s Sooyoung And Kang Tae Oh Bond Through Painting In “Run On” Teaser

JTBC’s upcoming drama “Run On” revealed a new teaser featuring Girls’ Generation’s Sooyoung and Kang Tae Oh!

“Run On” is a romance about people trying to connect with each other through their own languages after having lived in their individual worlds. It follows the story of former track and field athlete Ki Sun Kyum (Im Siwan), who retires after a life-changing event and becomes a sports agent, and Oh Mi Joo (Shin Se Kyung), a film translator.

Sooyoung stars as Seo Dan Ah, an ambitious sports agency CEO who believes the only way to fail is to not try at all. Kang Tae Oh plays Lee Young Hwa, a popular art student who is handsome, kind, and charming.

Following the first and second teasers for the drama, which depict the budding romance between Ki Sun Kyum and Oh Mi Joo, the new teaser reveals the unique chemistry between Seo Dan Ah and Lee Young Hwa.

The teaser begins with the pair’s first meeting, in which Lee Young Hwa slips and falls into the pool. Seo Dan Ah cooly tells him, “The pool wasn’t meant for you to fall into, so get out.” After she helps Lee Young Hwa out of the water, he faces her with a friendly smile to point out her lack of manners. Unfazed, Seo Dan Ah asks in return, “Why are you smiling?”

Lee Young Hwa doesn’t miss a beat as he replies, “I’m accustomed to smiling, and friendliness is a bad habit.” Their banter continues as Seo Dan Ah looks him over and says, “Let’s fix that habit. I might grow fond.”

The next clip shows the pair getting closer through painting as Lee Young Hwa guides Seo Dan Ah’s brush over a canvas. Seo Dan Ah observes one of his paintings, and Lee Young Hwa’s voice asks, “Why did you choose me?” She then answers, “Because I think my time is smudged on this painting.” The teaser comes to an end as Seo Dan Ah and Lee Young Hwa smile sweetly at each other.

  • Guest changed the title to [Upcoming Drama 2020/2021] Run On, 런온 - Wed & Thu @ 21:30 KST - Shin Se Kyung, SooYoung, Im Si Wan & Kang Tae Oh - Premieres on December 16th

I might start this one for SiWan.  I skipped Strangers from hell.  Not the genre I like.  This one looks promising.  He’s been in a series of “running” type projects of late hasn’t he?  .  It looks fluffy but there must be something more about it that’s caught his interest.  It will be interesting to see what it was.

Girls’ Generation’s Sooyoung Talks About Her Role As A CEO In Upcoming JTBC Drama “Run On”

Girls’ Generation’s Sooyoung will be transforming into a capable leader in JTBC’s new drama “Run On”!

“Run On” is a romance drama about people trying to connect with each other in their own languages after having lived in different worlds and at different paces. Im Siwan will star as Ki Sun Kyum, a former track and field athlete who retires after a life-changing event and becomes a sports agent, while Shin Se Kyung will star as Oh Mi Joo, an adventurous foreign film translator.

Girls’ Generation’s Sooyoung will be playing the role of sports agency CEO Seo Dan Ah, a chaebol heiress who was pushed down the order of successors for being female, while Kang Tae Oh will play Lee Young Hwa, a thoughtful and kind-hearted art student.

Sooyoung revealed that both Seo Dan Ah and Lee Young Hwa hated to lose. She explained, “Dan Ah, who has lived a hectic and busy life, will meet Young Hwa, who she wants to make time for. She’ll continue to hurt him because the feelings she’s never experienced before will feel unfamiliar to her. As that happens, she’ll discover herself making more time because she feels sorry, and they’ll progress into a relationship in which they acknowledge their love.”

Seo Dan Ah is clumsy with emotions because she has grown up amidst fierce competition within a chaebol household with a business mindset. However, her strengths outweigh her flaws as she was still able to rise to the CEO position of a sports agency and become the director of Seomyung Group. Sooyoung shared, “She doesn’t talk behind people’s backs, she doesn’t hold grudges, and she’s honest. She’s the hard working type who does her best at everything. Although her domain is certain, she acknowledges and embraces things that create new stimulus. She goes all-in for her people, and if someone is rude, she knows how to retort regardless of their position or age.” The actress added, “I wanted to show an intelligent and capable young woman leader.”

Sooyoung explained that Seo Dan Ah is a character who thoroughly manages her time, but she also invests time in taking care of her appearance since she simultaneously runs a fashion company. However, Seo Dan Ah doesn’t do nail art and prefers hairstyles that cover her forehead. Sooyoung elaborated, “I think it’s because she’ll think that the time it take for her nails to dry and to do her hair every morning would be a waste.” When asked how she completed her character with such detail, Im Siwan commented, “She has definitely been immersed in a CEO role on a regular basis,” adding that she couldn’t be better at portraying CEO Seo Dan Ah.

The actress also touched upon her first thoughts after seeing the project. She shared, “All the characters who appear seemed so cool and well off, but they’re all broken somewhere in one way. The process in which these people intertwine through a natural opportunity and become adults that learn how to converse is beautiful.” Sooyoung shared, “I wanted to express a love that would break the rules I’ve protected until now and make me forget consequences.” Regarding Kang Tae Oh, she shared, “In reality, he’s goofy and cute, so the mood on set is bright. He’s also good at acting, so I rely on him a lot.”

3 Reasons To Look Forward To The Premiere Of “Run On” Starring Im Siwan And Shin Se Kyung

Dec 8, 2020

by S. Cho

JTBC’s newest drama “Run On” starring Shin Se Kyung and Im Siwan has shared three points to look forward to ahead of the premiere!

“Run On” is about people trying to connect with each other in their own languages after having lived in different worlds and at different paces. Im Siwan will star as Ki Sun Kyum, a former track and field athlete who retires after a life-changing event and becomes a sports agent. Shin Se Kyung will star as Oh Mi Joo, an adventurous foreign film translator.

Here are three points to look forward to in this upcoming romance drama!

1. The couple’s awe-inspiring chemistry

Ever since they were cast, Im Siwan and Shin Se Kyung have been in the spotlight for their adorable chemistry, even getting “scolded” by staff for being too cute. The two stars are already said to be perfectly in sync while reflecting the romance between their characters. Viewers can look forward to watching how their partnership develops, their growing confidence in one another, and their perfect romantic chemistry.

2. Amazing production

The production and direction of “Run On” has been garnering interest since the release of the drama’s teasers. The two character’s careers are also reflective of the drama’s concept of “direction.”

This level of detail reflects just how much work was put into ensuring that each scene was perfect. The producers commented, “We endlessly think over concerns with love and we work really hard to wittily portray the cute emotional transformation of the characters who are easily swayed and sometimes whining. You’ll be able to properly check out this process in the first episode so please give it lots of love and attention.”

3. Two-sided romance

“Run On” looks at romances between polar-opposite couples. Ki Sun Kyum is a man who only looks forward, while Oh Mi Joo only looks back. Seo Dan Ah (Girls’ Generation‘s Sooyoung) is someone who thinks something can only be done poorly if it isn’t done at all and Lee Young Hwa (Kang Tae Oh) believes the opposite, that it’s impossible for the heart to achieve what the heart wants.

Rather than link the couples in complex ways, these couples set off with a clear love line that will guide their storyline into an even stronger, more close-knit romance.

“Run On” premieres on December 16 at 9 p.m. KST! Watch a teaser here.

It's modest but the second episode seems more exciting. Hope the next episodes will get better especially with the editing and the music which were too lively sometimes for my taste. The OST used for the ending credits was great though.

Some scenes which were supposed to be funny felt forced, like the professor suddenly losing his wig and going crazy with EDM music in the background. I want to slap the director so bad. Siwan's acting was so good as expected and Se Kyung's acting exceeded my expectations.

The introduction of the four main characters was unique. A nutjob, a loser, a psychopath, and a piece of trash. Haha. I loved that part.

Ki Seon Gyeom is awkward and looks like a total lunatic especially when he is with Oh Mi Joo. I just wish the writer and the director introduced his character properly in the first episode because I think many people will be confused as to why he acts that way. He is obviously a flawed character.

Anyway, Siwan and Se Kyung are beautiful together. They light up my screen. That's enough for me to watch but I also look forward to more emotional scenes on episode 2. Seon gyeom and Mijoo will go on their first date!! I won't spoil anything else but I think they will make our hearts flutter so much XD.
