“More Than Friends” And Other JTBC Dramas Pause Production For COVID-19 Testing

Aug 20, 2020
by C. Hong

More dramas have halted production in order for the cast and crew to undergo testing for COVID-19.

On August 19, “To All the Guys Who Loved Me” stopped filming after supporting actor Seo Sung Jong tested positive for COVID-19. The upcoming drama “Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol” also paused production as a preventative measure since there were staff members who worked on both dramas. Later, it was revealed that Heo Dong Won, who is a cast member on “Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol” and was in a play with Seo Sung Jong, had also tested positive for COVID-19.

Seo Yi Sook, who had come into contact with Heo Dong Won, is awaiting test results for COVID-19, putting a brief pause on the drama she is filming with Suzy and Nam Joo Hyuk.

Meanwhile, Heo Dong Won and Seo Sung Jong’s play, “Jjamppong,” announced that 15 cast and crew members have tested positive for COVID-19 so far, including Kim Won Hae.

On August 20, a source from JTBC confirmed that the upcoming drama, “Private Life” (literal title), has stopped filming because one of their staff members is awaiting test results. The drama stars Girls’ Generation’s Seohyun, Go Kyung Pyo, and more. The source said, “This staff member was a supporting member of another drama in which someone tested positive for COVID-19. They did not come into direct contact with that person, but they got tested just in case, and filming will be halted until their test results come out.”

Another upcoming JTBC drama, “Run On” (literal title), has also paused filming after a staff member came into contact with a suspected COVID-19 case. This drama stars Im Siwan, Shin Se Kyung, Girls’ Generation’s Sooyoung, and more. JTBC stated, “Today, we confirmed that one of the drama’s staff members had come into contact with the staff member of another drama who is suspected of being infected with COVID-19. That suspected case is awaiting their test results, and the ‘Run On’ staff member has also been tested and is self-quarantining until their results come out. For the safety of the cast and crew, ‘Run On’ has decided not to film on August 20.”

It was reported that “More Than Friends,” which stars Ong Seong Wu and Shin Ye Eun, has also stopped filming because actress Kim Hee Jung had come into contact with Kim Won Hae. A source stated, “Kim Hee Jung and Kim Won Hae filmed together on August 12. After Kim Won Hae tested positive, Kim Hee Jung and her manager went to get tested for COVID-19. The results will come out around August 21.” JTBC confirmed, “Kim Hee Jung came into contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case and got tested on August 20. For the safety of the cast and crew, filming will be paused until the test results are out.”
