EXID’s Hani Is Trapped In Virtual-Reality Horror Game In Upcoming Sci-Fi Series “SF8”

Upcoming sci-fi series “SF8” has unveiled its first glimpse of EXID’s Hani in character!

“SF8” is a new sci-fi project that will tell eight intriguing stories set in the near future. Each 40-minute story will be helmed by a different Directors Guild of Korea (DGK) director, and each of the eight directors’ visions of the future will offer a different take on the main theme of people dreaming of a perfect society through technological advancements. The subjects tackled in the project will include artificial intelligence (AI), augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), robots, gaming, fantasy, horror, superpowers, and disasters.

EXID’s Hani will be starring in director Jang Cheol Soo’s “White Crow,” an unsettling story about a broadcasting jockey (BJ) named Juno is famous for her delicate and innocent image. When Juno (played by Hani) appears on a live VR game show, she soon finds herself trapped inside a terrifying VR horror game that incorporates players’ real-life traumas.

The newly released stills of Hani capture two different sides of her character, as well as the stark contrast between her world inside and outside the game. In one photo, she smiles brightly on stage; in the other, she stares fearfully at something in the distance, her eyes visibly filled with dread.

Hani commented, “I was extremely drawn to the near-future setting and the premise of being trapped in a virtual reality. In order to prepare for my role as a game BJ, I tried playing horror games in real life.”

She went on, “Because there is a lot of CGI [computer-generated imagery] in this project, I got to experience many new things. I’m grateful for having been given the opportunity to take on a new challenge each and every day.”

The exclusive pre-release of the original Cinematic drama 'SF8' ahead of airing on TV

Wavve will release its original Cinematic drama series "SF8" on Thursday.

SF8 is the nation's first film and drama crossover project invested by Wavve and produced by the Korean Film Directors' Association (DGK) and MBC.

The way the eight filmmakers produce episodes of each drama is unique, but the distribution method, which is exclusively pre-released on an online platform prior to TV broadcasting, is also unconventional.

SF8 is scheduled to air on MBC sometime in August after the exclusive pre-release on Wavve. You can see on Wavve the director's version of the original work that you can't see anywhere else.

SF8 is an eight-part drama about people who dream of a complete society with new technologies against the backdrop of the near future. Through various materials such as artificial intelligence (AI), virtual reality (VR), robots and games, it will provide viewers with fresh shock and new experiences.

The SF8 features eight film directors, each from proven talent to emerging expectations. The cast is also splendid. Star actors such as Moon So-ri, Lee Dong-hwi, Lee Yeon-hee, Lee Yoo-young, Ye Soo-jung, Yeom Hye-ran, Ko Kyung-pyo, Uee, Choi Si-won, Choi Sung-eun, Kim Bo-ra, Hani and Lee Si-young participated in the project.

In addition, SF8 has received an official invitation to the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFAN) on the 9th and held a special exhibition, drawing keen attention from both inside and outside the industry.

"We hope that users can enjoy the novelty through Wavve's experimental original content," said Lee Tae-hyun, CEO of Content Wavve. "Wavve will continue to show good original content while working with various content companies such as broadcasters, independent producers, film companies and entertainment companies."
