Park Ji Hoon transforms into perfect lovesick schoolboy in new drama "Love Revolution"

Park Ji Hoon - the male singer recently showing a strong, attractive image through the title song "Wing" of the mini album vol. 3 "The W" - foreshadowing a "makeover" into a cute lovesick guy in the new drama.

On June 5, Kakao M said, Park Ji Hoon confirmed his participation in the role of the romantic, sweet guy Gong Joo Young in the digital original drama "Love Revolution". Park Ji Hoon accumulated much acting experience through various works and had a successful performance in the historical drama "Flower Crew: Joseon Marriage Agency " (JTBC) in 2019. This time, he expected to continue to make the audience flutter when transforming into an amorous, lovable guy.

Based on the original webtoon of the same name by author 232, "Love Revolution" (produced by Merry Christmas) is a romantic comedy drama depicting love story, friendship, dream and turmoil in the school life of teenagers. The drama revolves around Gong Joo Young - a lovely male student who falls in love with the school's goddess Wang Ja Rim at first sight. As a digital short-form drama of Kakao M - the company which is actively promoting the production of optimized digital content on mobile devices, "Love Revolution" includes a total of 30 episodes with about 20 minutes per episode.

The character Gong Joo Young, played by Park Ji Hoon, is a 17-year-high school student who possesses an "abundance" in everything, from aegyo, gratitude, good personality, dancing, and singing skills to the outstanding visual. In addition, he is also a lovesick guy who constantly expresses frankly his affection for Wang Ja Rim, whom he "fell" at first sight. Gong Joo Young is a "super pure" boy who is difficult to be seen anywhere recently, to the point that it can be said that a day of him begins with Wang Ja Rim and ends with Wang Ja Rim. With love, he is gentle as much as possible, but when his friends are in trouble, he is willing to help with a mature and firm image, thereby exuding opposite attraction.

Immediately after the news of considering Park Ji Hoon's casting got known, the actor quickly climbed to No.1 on real-time searched keyword rankings on web portals thanks to his "200% compatibility with Gong Joo Young", thus heightening expectations on character Gong Joo Young that Park Ji Hoon will play. From a child actor, in 2019, Park Ji Hoon tried the historical drama genre when transforming into the best Joseon fashionista in the drama "Flower Crew: Joseon Marriage Agency". Next, in "Love Revolution" this time, he will become a naive and lovely high school boy, promising to expand his acting spectrum.

Kakao M's representative said, "'Love Revolution' is expected to practically depict the dreams, love and friendship of teenagers from their own views to match the feelings of today's youth. Hopefully, you guys will pay much attention to the new makeover and charms that Park Ji Hoon, who has shown a number of unique aspects via diverse activities, will present through the character Gong Joo Young."

"Love Revolution" will begin filming in mid-June and be on air in the second half of this year.

Hey, I loved the manhwa so much because it was hell funny.  I read it a couple of years back but I stopped due to real life priorities lol  You can read it on Naver Line.

I think Park Jihoon is miscast only because he's too gorgeous to play the lead guy. But his personality fits the character.

Park Ji Hoon, The Boyz’s Younghoon, Lee Ruby, And More Attend 1st Script Reading For “Love Revolution”

Jul 22, 2020
by C. Lee

Kakao M’s upcoming original drama “Love Revolution” held its first script reading!

Based on the popular webtoon of the same name, “Love Revolution” will tell the story of love and friendship among students, centering around the couple Gong Ju Young and Wang Ja Rim. The webtoon has been much-loved by readers for its witty lines and drawing style since it first began in 2013.

Recently, Park Ji Hoon, Lee Ruby, The Boyz’s Younghoon, Jung Dae Eun, WJSN’s Dayoung, Go Chan Bin, Ahn Do Kyu, and more were present at the drama’s first script reading.

Park Ji Hoon will play the role of Gong Ju Young, a 17-year-old high school student who falls for Wang Ja Rim. Park Ji Hoon, who has been acting ever since he was a child, showed off his skills and great chemistry with co-stars Lee Ruby and Younghoon at the reading.

Lee Ruby takes on her first leading role in a drama as the character Wang Ja Rim, who is bombarded by Gong Ju Young’s love. At the reading, Lee Ruby portrayed Wang Ja Rim’s aloof and cold personality as well as the process of her opening up to Gong Ju Young.

Meanwhile, The Boyz’s Younghoon tries his hand at acting with his first-ever role as Lee Kyung Woo, the second male lead who is also aloof but playful and sweet at times. Younghoon acted out Lee Kyung Woo’s 10-year-long friendship with Gong Ju Young and his emotions toward Wang Ja Rim at the reading.

Go Chan Bin will play the bright and funny character Kim Byung Hoon, while Ahn Do Gyu will portray Ahn Kyung Min. Wang Ja Rim’s three friends will be played by WJSN’s Dayoung, Jung Da Eun, and Kim Seung Hee. Dayoung takes on the role of Oh Ah Ram, a popular girl who is athletic and easy-going. Jung Da Eun will play Yang Min Ji, and Kim Seung Hee will portray Hong Jin Hee.

“Love Revolution” will have 30 episodes that are about 20 minutes long. The cast is currently filming the drama, which will premiere this year on a new video platform from KakaoTalk.

Park Ji Hoon amazes with similarity to character of original webtoon in new drama teaser

The drama "Love Revolution" - the most anticipated work in the second half of this year with the cast absolutely identical to the characters in the original webtoon - released the teaser video with the synchro rate of 200% with the original, as if it was a scene taken from the webtoon.

The teaser video posted by the original digital series "Love Revolution" (Kakao M, produced by Merry Christmas) unveiled the character image of the cast including Park Ji Hoon (as Gong Joo Young), Lee Ruby (as Wang Ja Rim), Younghoon (as Lee Kyung Woo), Jung Da Eun (as Yang Min Ji), Go Chan Bin (as Kim Byung Hoon), and Ahn Do Gyu (as Ahn Kyung Min). Transforming into 6 lead characters possessing unique individualities and charismas, the 6 actors created a scene that is completely indistinguishable from the webtoon when standing shoulder to shoulder in front of the board in a classroom with flawless visuals, just like stepping out from comic books. Apart from the appearances identical to the original characters, from hairdo, facial expressions, and postures, loose cravats, to the color and size of watches, the cast members also accentuate the personality of each person as well as the intimate atmosphere among close friends. In addition, the sophisticated details displaying a "class in comics" with drawings on the board to the classroom furniture are grabbing much interest from the original webtoon fans for the TV version.

The most prominent feature is the chemistry exuding from the strange atmosphere between Park Ji Hoon and Lee Ruby when transforming into the sweet "aegyo guy" Gong Joo Young and cold and rude girl Wang Ja Rim. If the previously released teaser and poster attract attention because of the opposing atmosphere between the two characters, the teaser published today receives a lot of attention with the couple's special chemistry. With a "cool" and indifferent expression, Lee Ruby shows a look exactly like Wang Ja Rim, who gradually reduces her tension in front of Gong Joo Young's emotional attack. Meanwhile, Park Ji Hoon leads the atmosphere with a cheerful and vibrant V sign, thereby perfectly transforming into character Gong Joo Young - a gentle, innocent guy with a straight yet cute personality.

The other friends also boasted a surprising synchro rate to the characters in the webtoon. Lee Kyung Woo, a cold handsome man played by Younghoon, resembles his character in the original work, from the hairstyle to the chic aura. Besides, Yang Min Ji, who is Wang Ja Rim's best friend portrayed by Jung Da Eun, also showed the look of a cute high school girl with long braided hair. Both actors Go Chan Bin and Ahn Do Gyu, whose characters strike up a four-person bromance with Gong Joo Young and Lee Kyung Woo, drew a great deal of attention when transforming into Kim Byung Hoon, who has a bright appearance with short hair and a radiant smile, and Ahn Kyung Min, whose signature look is his glasses covering half of his face, respectively.

The digital original drama "Love Revolution" (Kakao M) is new concept rom-com drama that revolves around the love story of Wang Ja Rim (played by Lee Ruby) - a cold, beautiful girl of Chungbo high school, and Gong Joo Young (played by Park Ji Hoon) - a straightforward, lovely boy who falls for her at first sight. Notably, the original webtoon of the same name by author 232 has been occupying the top place of Naver Webtoon's Thursday webtoon rankings since its first publication in 2013 until now and is warmly loved by readers aged 10~29 with the high rating of 9.9. "Love Revolution" is expected to realistically depict the vicissitude of love, friendship, and dreams of teenagers, fitting the current trends of this era. The drama consists of 30 episodes with 20 minutes each and will be announced on Kakao TV and Naver TV in September.

Park Ji Hoon Prepares Romantic Surprise To Ask Out Lee Ruby On “Love Revolution”

Sep 30, 2020
by E. Cha

Love Revolution” has shared a new sneak peek of its upcoming episode!

Based on the hit webtoon of the same name, “Love Revolution” is a web drama about teenagers navigating love, friendship, and the chaos of high school. Park Ji Hoon stars as Gong Ju Young, a cute and lovable student who is determined to win over the standoffish and popular Wang Ja Rim (played by Lee Ruby) after falling in love with her at first sight.

On previous episodes of the drama, no matter how adorably straightforward Gong Ju Young was about his feelings for her, Wang Ja Rim appeared to remain unswayed as she seemingly reacted with indifference.

In new stills from the upcoming sixth episode of the series, Gong Ju Young prepares a romantic surprise for Wang Ja Rim in order to boldly ask her to go out with him. Armed with a large bouquet of roses and a path of flower petals that he painstakingly created himself, Gong Ju Young appears both nervous and excited as he waits for Wang Ja Rim to appear outside.

Once Wang Ja Rim finally arrives on the scene, Gong Ju Young affectionately tucks one flower behind her ear—but the stoic expression on Wang Ja Rim’s face makes it unclear whether his efforts have paid off.

The producers of “Love Revolution” teased, “The cute and affectionate Gong Ju Young’s straightforward pursuit of Wang Ja Rim has not only melted viewers’ hearts, but is also melting the impregnable Wang Ja Rim’s heart as well. To find out whether Gong Ju Young’s courtship will come to fruition—and what kind of direction the two characters’ romance will take—please pay careful attention to the sixth episode.”

Sad, this webdrama is very cute and I have been watching every week.

Too bad others are not interested in this cute web drama.

I did not know the actors in this drama. But all are doing a great job. I admit I like this web drama is a good balance with some cute young rom com to the angst/makjang/ fairy tales and more serious dramas in my current rotation.

thanks @0ly40
