Yeah I dunno for this drama. Maybe they will make CJ to take more concubine, to enlarge his power through many clans. But CJ maybe will be like The Emperor in webdrama or novel story, CJ every night will sleep with different concubine every night but actually he will not do anything. {The reason The Emperor sleep with his concubine every night because The Empress already made schedule that The Emperor should be fair for all his women. So The Emperor did it every night so he could be with The Empress and also protect The Empress from jealousy} The only woman he touches only his Queen. That's why the concubine never get pregnant nor has child. CJ only has children from SB.

 

That's kinda of happy ending from novel. [I will not give you more spoiler anymore - you can read it yourself later for the novel]

That's why I like to read the novel more than watch the webdrama.

Do you know where can we read the novel? Is it available with english translation? what's the title?

Based upon the latest stills from TVn, this week episode will be focus on SoBongie and CheoJongie's relationship development. I hope we will get diabetes from all of the sweetness BUT can I say that it seems to be a calm before the storm??? Per the usual formula of this drama, they will have us hanging dangerously over the cliff at the end of Sunday episode. I am dreading and exciting at the same time for this week episodes.

but ya these time travel concept unless very well written creates a lot of chaos in the storyline 

the fact that sobong keeps blacking out during their make out sessions leads me to think  that they are not really going to deal with an lgbt theme per se...

BH is no longer a male soul in SY body but rather a soul in SY body or more likely a merged soul in SY body.

I ended up reading the web novel in a hurry in the last two days and I also read The Scarlet Pimpernel @Raffles (I see the similarities, the clever wife and the dumb-but-secretly-clever husband, misunderstandings, longing etc etc- quite impressed that this novel/play was published in 1905!) - and @maria_m2me mentioned the web novel's ending is satisfactory because there were no open conflicts like BH being in a coma. I'm not thinking about the ending of Mr. Queen just yet since we have at least 2 more weeks barring this weekend (and this weekend's almost here!)
 

Having read (I don't really know if I "read" it but I did furiously skim through it ) the original novel (which is at times confusing but hilarious as well), I really like Cheoljong's characterisation in Mr. Queen - he's level headed (except when So Bong is in danger), he's not a jerk (unlike the lead in the web novel), he's quite open about his feelings and tries his best to make things work (he understands, admits and regrets his earlier cold nature towards SY) - this guy is setting new standards honestly - I adore how he becomes a puppy with So Bong - their night time interactions are my favourite - I'm counting on So Bong to take charge now since she's awoken to new possibilities

Because Cheoljong is a historical figure I very much doubt Cheoljong would ever find out about real Jang Bong Hwan. I think someone mentioned that in a novel the king knew about a man’s soul inside his queen’s body but he didn’t care. But can you imagine the huge backlash if Mr Queen tried to imply that one of their Joseon king liked men? I think tvN would get sued if they even try to hint at that LMAO.

I'm no korean or historical junky but with all due respect I like how the production is trying to reframe the king's struggles as a puppet king. It's like writing a fanfiction of what they think could have been instead of what's in the official narrative, of course there's a lot of dramatization but I like its spin on not judging something solely on appearance. In that sense, I find it quite refreshing even though strictly speaking, this trope is nothing new.

 

I have not read/watch GPG but I'm still speculating that byeong-in will end up as the overprotective pining warrior rather than the jealous antagonist. I believe his first priority is to safeguard her life rather than to possess her romantically. It looks like he's going to go against KJG for trying to kill the queen. Bear in mind up until now, he has only caught up with the fact that the king was the oktajeong assassin and not yet aware of the growing genuine feelings that the king has for the queen. Yes the queen told him to stay out of her affairs but his overprotective instinct go into overdrive because he took it that the queen is trying to take care of matters herself. I think he will come around once he processed that the king no longer poses a threat to the queen and may ally with them against those who meant harm to the queen. 

 

I would like pregnancy to be a plot device but from how much we still don't know in the little time we are left with the drama, it doesn't seem likely to me. I will happily stand corrected (fingers crossed as in hopeful and not bluffing mr queen version)

 

Lastly I hope we will be treated into another REAL make out scene ala ep 9. Excuse my fantasy in broad daylight:

Some action scene where king is fighting to protect the queen and got knocked out..

 

He wakes up in a room basked in golden glow of candlelight, nursing some injury to his upper body which requires him to expose his chest (something like what we see in ep 15 preview when sobong is staring at him in his warrior garb, personally i'd like to see his shoulder, chest and abs..)

 

At first he had thought he had lost her but she was there. Thnking that it was his dream, all his inhibition/ pretense vanished. Who they are or what they are going through fade into the background just because he was grateful he still sees her.

 

(cue king's ost - like a star)

 

Gazing at her longingly he traced the curve of her cheeks with the back of his hand and removed her hairpin and traced the length of her braided hair before removing her hair ribbon. (Although physically impossible, imagine queen's hair down and swept to one side just because she looks stunning that way..) Queen too stunned/ swoon at this point to do anything about it (SHS swoon look essential in any romantic scene)

 

"It was you. It was always you, right from the start. How can I be so blind?" With that, his hand move to the back of her head as he leaned in to kiss her. They made out for a good 10 second before camera zoom into something else and the rest lives in our imagination

Well to be fair, the King called Mr. Queen a "tigress" the day after and was clearly very impressed, so I think he's already learning from her/him.

 

I don't think the Concubine has any chance of bedding the King now that the King has experienced the hot passion of Mr. Queen.... bwahaha

I think it is book that Cheoljong gave in episode 6 with letter no-touch with red flower painting. Change of Zhou, the book (actually just the cover, because we all know the content already change with kamasutra book muahaha) that SoBong interested in, in episode 1.

 

Aaah i always waiting them having deep talk or whatever conversation like when they are gone out to eat gukbap. Or pillow talk, i want to see them sharing their story in warm-cozy situation :3

By the way, not sure if it was mentioned on this thread but the picture that Choi Jin Hyuk posted on his Instagram had another caption at first. Apparently it said "sick currently, this & that’(아프네 요즘. 이래저래)" before he revised the line to "Sick Bonghwan"

 

That would allude to the fact that Choi Jin Hyuk might be ill at the moment or is recovering from illness.

I wouldn't therefore draw any conclusions from the post with regard to Mr.Queen

First post. Hello everyone.

Love this drama. The production hit a jackpot. 

 

Fate is trolling Kim JG. After that despicable "mere woman" remarked to SY..fate presented him with SB...haha 

The jerk. I bet it frustrated him no end he got to kowtow to his sister the queen dowager..a mere woman. 

 

Tsk tsk... Hwa Jin snitching on SB. Wonder if this was not the first time she seek the jerk. Maybe she was the one who told the jerk about the prince.  SY only told her servant. In her head all is fair in war and love. 

 

In a way I felt pity for BI. All this while he has concealed his unrequited love from SY. Guess he did not want to burden her. Good for him.  But after meeting a desolate SY, SY suicide and CJ attempted assassination..  he truly believed the way to protect SY is by getting rid of CJ..the source of SY unhappiness. Those events triggered all those pent up emotions to explode and he is making emotional decisions instead of rational ones now. 

Pity he did not have his own bamboo forest to vent his frustrations

In a way I feel more compassion toward BI than HJ. HJ is rotten to the core, she feels okay to took credits from SY and uses it as a foundation of her relationship with CJ. She doesn't loves CJ IMO, she wants CJ just to spites SY. If she really loves him she won't easily turns to KJG. I can understand if she only hates SY and wanna harms her but when she surrender The Ledger to Kim Clans (indirectly) she gave up CJ's potent weapon to fights against them. She is a traitor both in love and in life.

 

While BI, I can totally understand his actions. So far CJ doesn't acts like he is a model husband to SB. He humiliated SB in the public by went to HJ instead of SB during their confrontation about who and whose attempted to pushed SY to the lake. CJ tried to killed SB with a sword. BI witnessed how distraught SY was a night before she jumped to the lake. IF I am BI, I will acted the same way. I noticed that after SB rejected BI, he didn't make any moves toward SB anymore, he put his efforts in eliminating CJ instead.

 

CJ-SB's relationship is totally like a real husband and wife relationship. Their "devotions" to each other are only known and understood by them.  They take delight on each other companionship whether heart to heart talks or heart to heart bickers. They understand each other very well. Proven by the banquet notes and how CJ knows for sure how much SB loves him.

Yes, as @cenching noted it correctly, Kim Jung Hyun looks very lean when dressed. You wouldn’t guess what he hides underneath. But when he takes his clothes off...  When did his arms get so big?

 

Pervy thoughts aside, he looks really cool while practicing sword fight. I admire that he does all the stunts himself. The dedication and concentration on his face is admirable!
