I forgot that the king and Hwa Jin were supposed to spend the night together.

Of course, something like that didnt happen.  :D

Im glad for prince Youngpyeng, he was so sad when Hwa Jin walked into the room and he

stayed in that hallway.

Ending was worse than I thought it would be.

So Yong turned out be a hypocrite. She's just like Hwa Jin. Now, she's pretending to be So Bong and taking all the credits.

Cheol Jong is same as Byeong In. At least Byeong In has an excuse of not getting to meet the queen often, but Cheol Jong has no such excuse. Cheol Jong just loved the shell. Is that what the extra episodes for? Cheol Jong already fell in love with So Yong's physical body before he met So Bong! Love at first sight, my a s s.

What kind of message is this?

Jang Bong Hwan tried so hard to survive and live on by accepting himself and circumstances. He faced obstacles and learned to fight and solve them. But it doesn't matter. Your relationship and happiness that you preciously built will be all taken away from you. You will be forgotten and someone else will take all of your credits.

Kim So Yong couldn't handle her life, so she took her own life. That's such a good idea because someone else will come and solve all your problems including your love life for you! Then you will magically come back to life and live happily ever after with no effort! You just have to pretend that it was all you who solved all the problems! This is such a happy ending!

Korea already has so many people who take their own lives. Korea doesn't need encouragement in a drama.

I was satisfied, what else would you expect? That the queen tells the king everything? Would he really believe her?

The queen had a very weak moment when she threw herself into a lake, but now she has learned a lesson, by co-habitating with that man in her body.  She has become a stronger person, who knows how to fight for what she wants and believes. She has also acquired some funny habits. She's not the meek and passive person she was before, thus she'll be a better partner for the king, and one who doesn't squirm at the idea of having sex with him.  And, come on, after all, she was the original owner of the body, and she was trapped in there without control, with someone else doing what he wanted with it - it must have been frustrating, no?

Jang Bong Hwan  also became a better person. He was a bit superficial and selfish before, and an unrepentant Casanova. But he has discovered his soft, empathetic side and he understands women's problems much better now. I think he will become a better partner for any woman he will fall for. Yes, his love story with the king was interrupted, but he was shown as very happy to come to his own era again.  And I don't think he would have enjoyed childbirth (yes, I know, that was in the comic).

The king has learned to appreciate his queen, he got some new democratic ideas to advance the country. Now his queen will be less campy but she's still much more interesting than she was before, so he won't miss her other self too much.

I mean, what else would you want to happen?

8 More “Enemies To Lovers” K-Dramas Guaranteed To Give You Butterflies

Sep 22, 2022

The enemies-to-lovers trope is one that K-drama lovers never seem to get sick of. There’s something utterly romantic about watching an OTP go from despising each other to slowly realizing their feelings, to falling head over heels in love with each other. And although this theme has already been explored here, there are always more titles to add to your watchlist. Here they are!

7. “Mr. Queen

mr-queen-1.jpeg

“Mr. Queen” stars Shin Hye Sun as Kim So Yong, a queen in the Joseon period. One day, she wakes up with the soul of a male chef named Jang Bong Hwan from modern times, trapped in the body of the queen. Despite this sudden change, So Yong must find a way to adjust to her new situation and new life with her husband King Cheoljong (Kim Jung Hyun).

It could very well be that So Yong is actually a reincarnated male from modern times that pushes Cheoljong away, but the two cannot stand each other at the start. While So Yong is trying to adapt to life and keep her body at arms length from Cheoljong, Cheoljong can’t seem to understand his erratic and crazy queen. The two try to figure each other out, and eventually, their feelings for one another becomes so heart-fluttering that you can’t help but ship these two!

Mr. Queen is that one rare drama I watched more than once. And one thought stood out to me always: did the writer and the director of Mr. Queen ask themselves how innovative they could get with food?

(Well, Food is supposed to be just food. What more can it be?)
(Shut up, Secretary Han!)

Acclaimed drama Mr. Queen, starring an ensemble cast led by Shin Hye Sun and Kim Jung Hyun, allocates a respectful morsel of the plotline and run time to the royal kitchen, the royal chef, his faithful assistants, and our very own dearest Queen Chorin, so much that Food becomes an important supporting character in the story. To the extent that she sets in motion a chain of events that rewrite history.

Food is used in diverse ways at various places in the story. A few of them, with the rating for the creativity of thought employed, are listed below in no particular order.

1. Fairy Godmother

Bong Hwan loves Food and Food loves him back too. So, when a jealous secretary Han thwarts Bong Hwan’s plans for a smooth luncheon, almost getting him arrested and nearly getting him killed, Food comes to the rescue!

What better way to avenge the man who loves her than to send the said man back in time so that the secretary’s ancestors may be found, and the propagation of the clan be stopped from there?

In retrospect, Food also doubles up as the Knight in sizzler armour for the distressed Queen-to-be and saves her from a rather unsavoury death.

Here, Food is thus the fairy godmother who grants those who tend to her with special powers of time travel and second chances.

A brilliant start to a brilliant story – 4/5.

2. Bribe

Totally done with a Joseon where he’s lost his dragon balls, Bong Hwan attempts to go back by aquatic means, only to find that the lake has been emptied. There’s only one thing to be done now and only one person who could most certainly get it done.

The way to a person’s heart is through their stomach – the Grand Queen Dowager is no exception. Bong Hwan, seeing a plate of meals yet again rejected, tries to gain her confidence by taking advantage of her sensitive gut.

Well, when Queen Bong Hwan and Food are on the same team, the opponent doesn’t stand a chance.

(Thank you for stating the obvious, Secretary Han. Now, turn to page 394).

Food becomes an instrument of negotiation. The Grand Queen Dowager’s belly is full, and Queen Bong Hwan gets the stamp of approval.

Judicious use of one’s knowledge of food and people – 3.5/5.

3. Incentive

Permission from the Grand Queen Dowager notwithstanding, filling up a lake is no small task.

Despite a good number of royal servants working continuously, it can take days, as the Queen finds out.

Even for the royalty, there is no such thing as a free lunch, sadly. So, our dear Queen comes up with a refreshing idea to lift the mood and spirits of the tired workers.
