Character descriptions

 

Song Ji Ahn (Bae Doo na) a space biologist. She has a cold, straightforward personality, and she joins the expedition to dig into a secret that has been bothering her.

 

Yoon Jae (Gong Yoo) is a soldier and team leader at the Space and Aeronautics Administration. He’s a character who leads his team members with his exceptional work skills and shining charisma.

 Han Yoon Jae, the team leader who doesn’t hesitate to sacrifice himself when there’s trouble. His number one priority is the safety of his crew members, and he always stands at the forefront of missions, no matter how difficult and uncertain they may be.

 

Ryu Tae Seok (Lee Joon) a senior engineer who volunteers for a life-threatening mission. With his outstanding ability to perform missions, he gains the trust of Han Yoon Jae.

 

Hong Ga Young (Kim Sun Young) is the team physician who joins the expedition to fulfill her duty as a doctor.

 

Gong Soo Hyuk (Lee Moo Saeng) is a solid soldier who is also the head of security.

We may be seeing Bae Doona in a new drama soon!

On April 13, it was reported that Bae Doona would be appearing in the upcoming Netflix original “The Sea of Silence” (literal translation). In response, a source from her agency SBD Entertainment stated, “It is true that Bae Doona has received an offer for the series, and is currently positively looking over the offer.”

The upcoming series will be based on a short film of the same name by director Choi Hang Yong, who was highlighted at the 13th Mise-en-scène Short Film Festival in 2014. We may be seeing Lee Joon’s return to acting soon!

Been seeing Bae Doona a lot these days from Kingdom.. to Stranger.. to Secret Forest 2 and now Sea of Silence! What a busy woman she is! 

 

But what I am really looking forward to seeing again in the small screen is Gong Yoo! This will be his comeback drama after his massive hit Goblin! I have high hopes for this drama as well even though the show is pegged to have 8 episodes only. 

 

Heard that filming already started in August so I hope we get to hear the latest news and see stills from this drama soon.

Preparations continue for new Netflix sci-fi Sea of Tranquility and casting was confirmed this month for actors: Bae Doo-na (Forest of Secrets 2), Gong Yoo (The Lonely Shining Goblin), Lee Joon (Father Is Strange), and Heo Sung-tae (Psychopath Diary).

The drama is based on a short film, also called Sea of Tranquility, and takes place in a future Earth that is in turmoil. Due to a depletion of resources, food and water has become scarce and a special team is brought together to help save humankind. Embarking on a mission to the moon, their job is to bring back a mysterious sample from an abandoned space station which holds the key to human survival.

Bae Doo-na takes on the role of astrobiologist Song Ji-an, who joins the special team partially for personal reasons. Although finding the sample is important, she is determined to find out what exactly happened at the space station and what caused it to become abandoned.
