Jin Ki Joo And Lee Jang Woo Confirmed To Star In New Weekend Drama

Jin Ki Joo And Lee Jang Woo Confirmed To Star In New Weekend Drama

Jul 5, 2020
by L. Kim

Jin Ki Joo and Lee Jang Woo are confirmed to be starring together in a new drama!

The two actors were previously in talks for KBS 2TV’s upcoming weekend drama “Oh! Samkwang Villa” (literal title), but on June 6, both of their agencies confirmed that they will indeed be joining the drama.

“Oh! Samkwang Villa” tells the story of the various people who gather at a house called Samkwang Villa that’s run by Lee Soon Jung (Jeon In Hwa). The drama will show how these people who started off as strangers begin to open up their hearts and love one another. The story conveys the message that no matter how tough the world gets, the warm seed of love still exists in human relationships and will always be priceless.

Jin Ki Joo will take the role of Lee Bit Chae Woon, a hot-tempered, ambitious, and perseverant installer at an interior design shop. She’s always wary of her surroundings because she has always had to care for her gullible mother Lee Soon Jung from a young age. Her final goal is to become a textile designer.

On the other hand, Lee Jang Woo will play the role of architect Woo Jae Hee. He’s a straightforward man who gets angry easily, and at the same time, he’s described as handsome, smart, and so overly confident that he is often seen as arrogant. His father is Woo Jung Hoo (Jung Bo Suk), the CEO of a large corporation, but the two never got along, so Woo Jae Hee started living independently ever since college.

Woo Jae Hee and Lee Bit Chae Woon will meet at the site of a house under remodeling, and from the very beginning, they will bicker about their respective fields of expertise. The two characters will also end up living at Samkwang Villa, and they each have completely different attitudes about it. Whereas Woo Jae Hee likes the warm affection of this place and easily adjusts to the family-like atmosphere, Lee Bit Chae Woon wants nothing more than to put down the weight of being the head of the family and escape the villa. As they encounter each other at home and work, their chemistry will grow and develop into romance.

The production team shared, “We have no doubt that the synergy between Lee Jang Woo, the prince of weekend dramas, and Jin Ki Joo, one of the rising stars, will be responsible for the drama’s success during the weekend. We will prepare hard from the hot summer and come back with a drama that the whole family can enjoy together in the cool breeze of autumn.”

“Oh! Samkwang Villa” will air in September after the end of “Once Again.”

Upcoming KBS Drama Starring WJSN’s Bona Confirms Cast Lineup And Shows How Characters Are Related

Aug 17, 2020
by C. Lee

KBS 2TV’s upcoming weekend drama “Oh! Samkwang Villa” (literal title) has revealed its cast!

The drama stars Jin Kyung, Kim Sun Young, In Gyo Jin, WJSN’s Bona, Ryeo Woon, Han Bo Reum, Jeon Sung Woo, Kim Shi Eun, and more, and it will tell the story of the various people who gather at a house called Samkwang Villa that’s run by Lee Soon Jung (Jeon In Hwa). The drama will show how these people who started off as strangers begin to open up their hearts and love one another. The story conveys the message that no matter how tough the world gets, the warm seed of love still exists in human relationships and will always be priceless.

Lee Soon Jung, the eldest of the villa, has three children. The oldest is daughter Lee Bit Chae Woon, who will be played by Jin Ki Joo. Next is the smiley Lee Hae Deun, who has been confirmed to be portrayed by WJSN’s Bona after she was first in talks for the drama back in April. Outside, Lee Hae Deun is neat, haughty, and elegant, but at home, she is clumsy and lazy. Despite being two-faced, no one can hate her because she treats everyone with irresistible aegyo (acting cute). Last but not least is the youngest son Lee Ra Hoon, played by Ryeo Woon. Lee Ra Hoon works hard at his delivery job, but he is keeping a big secret from his family: he’s not attending college like his family thinks he is.

Kim Sun Young plays Lee Soon Jung’s younger sister Lee Man Jung, who is living with her in the villa. Thanks to the support of her older sister, Lee Man Jung became a doctor, but she’s more clueless when it comes to love, falling for any man easily.

Meanwhile, In Gyo Jin will portray trot singer Kim Hwak Se, whom Lee Soon Jung’s children call “uncle.” Kim Hwak Se spends his time as a DJ at a club, playing guitar for a band, working as a vocal trainer, and more.

There are some candidates to be the next tenant in Samkwang Villa. One of them is the mysterious Hwang Na Ro (played by Jeon Sung Woo), who is a skilled liar. Next is Cha Ba Reun, who will be portrayed by Kim Shi Eun. Cha Ba Reun is a real student at the college that Lee Ra Hoon is pretending to attend.

Moving onto a different household, Jung Bo Suk will play Woo Jung Hoo, the president of a large corporation and the head of his family. Lee Jang Woo will be Woo Jae Hee, the son of Woo Jung Hoo who cannot get along with his father and moves out. His mother is Jung Min Jae, played by Jin Kyung.

Furthermore, Hwang Shin Hye will play Kim Jung Won, the CEO of a fashion company. Her smart daughter Jang Seo Ah will be portrayed by Han Bo Reum. Jang Seo Ah is the confident general manager of her mom’s company, but she transforms once she’s in front of the guy she loves.

The drama’s production team commented, “With Samkwang Villa as the background, we plan to tell the uproarious story of the characters as each of them makes new connections. We will share diverse content in the future, and we plan to reveal moments that preview romance and conflict. Please look forward to it.”

“Oh! Samkwang Villa” is about various people who gather at a house called Samkwang Villa run by a woman named Lee Soon Jung. The script reading was held in July at the KBS building in Yeouido. Jung Bo Suk said, “This is the funniest script I’ve ever read in my career,” and the cast frequently broke out into laughter while reading their lines.

Jin Ki Joo and Lee Jang Woo also brought to life their characters’ lovable back-and-forth chemistry. Although they get off on the wrong foot, this adds a spice to their romance. Lee Jang Woo plays Woo Jae Hee, an extremely detail-oriented architect, while Jin Ki Joo plays Lee Bit Chae Woon, who works at a small interior decorating firm and dreams of being a textile designer.

The three veteran actors, Jeon In Hwa, Jung Bo Suk, and Hwang Shin Hye, also made their presence felt. Jeon In Hwa plays Lee Soon Jung, who has worked as a housekeeper for 30 years but kept her innocent and girlish heart. She is also an affectionate mother to her three kids, Lee Bit Chae Woon, Lee Hae Deun (WJSN’s Bona), and Lee Ra Hoon (Ryeo Woon). Jung Bo Suk, who is starring in a KBS weekend drama for the first time, plays Woo Jung Hoo, the old-school father of Woo Jae Hee. He is the president of a large corporation, but at home he wears socks with holes in them to the supermarket.

Jin Kyung, who plays Jung Min Jae, Woo Jung Hoo’s wife, said, “It’s an honor to have Jung Bo Suk, who was the most handsome man of our generation, as my husband.” In Gyo Jin, who plays a trot singer, brought out the fun aspects of his character. Bona, Ryeo Woon, and Jeon Sung Woo added their vitality and passion to the mix as the youthful characters in the drama.

  • Guest changed the title to [Current Drama 2020] The Lovers of Samkwang Villa/Homemade Love Story, 오! 삼광빌라! - Sat & Sun @ 19:55 KST

Hello,

Watched it after Once Again ended. It is cute start and it doesn't hurt that I like the FL.

The FL mom is so sweet. She does look like a rich woman. So refined and elegant but luckily one ofher clients is not upset with her as she knows how to diffuse ruffled feathers with flattery.

It was cute misunderstanding GALORE and seeing how all the characters are related to each other as the story is being set up in ep 1-2 (or 1/2 and 3/4).

Jeez the pretty younger sis going to the party pretending she is NOT wanting to get a rich beau but CAUGHT red handed. LOL. glad her bro got her.

Sad the bro is lying about going to a great university and instead making deliveries.

FL is cute and meets ML and tells him stuff (who ignores her) saves her and both fall down. (Only missed the meeting of lips on the FALL--thank god that trope was not used).

FL mom sis comes back --scammed again. Gosh have a hard life and nothing is right. Funny how FL mom knows the building was not theirs anymore but WRONG about her sis relationship with DR. Song.

Our ML, cute and nice to poor long suffering mom with dad who is cheap and nitpicky. Now reading his bio and background--ok honor the past but not be THAT insufferable! Dang it.

ML behind on rent and working trying to live his life. HIs argument with FL. I guess we will see them like each other as the drama progresses.

A young man lurking about them is weird. What does he want? Money?

FL looking for her birth mom and thinks her adoptive mom doesn't know. Sigh. Everyone acting with a "blind eye" on many matters.

The Fashion company rescinding FL winning #1. Poor FL going to CEO to prove her innocence. (Made me ticked.) Guess seems like she has it in for her --a perceived incident of bullying/being wronged when they were younger. CEO daughter likes ML. Of course she does like him.

Seems like that FL will clear her name and maybe not get the first prize anymore reinstated but a job at least if not sent abroad to USA to study? Or we would have no drama. LOL.

@hell59  I think the person was calling Jae Hee brother (Jae Hee Oppa) in keeping with the character called JH Oppa.

Hello All!

Watched ep 3 and 4. I am enjoying it alot.

EP 5 preview

-So slowly knowing more about our FL and her feelings with her adoptive family. She has alot of bottled up emotions and guilt that exploded in Ep 4.

-I see that our ML and FL will be closer (as expected for OTP) but how fast will it take? Since this is a long weekend drama I hope it is not dragged out TOO long.

I mean the ML is showing jealousy next weekend. She has an EYEFUl at end of ep 4.  Ironically the ML is the love of her enemy. I think FL adoptive mom used to like ML dad?

-Bravo for ML mom to leave the dad. He loves his family but his sharp tongue and not being able to express himself well but in a sharp and cross manner is SUCH a turn off. (Ahem reminds me of my dad, I love him but he is not always able to show his love in a loving manner but  more cross/sharp manner full of complaints and vinegar.)

-Whats up with guy who had FL phone but picked up when ML called and glad he RETURNED it back. What does he want from FL? He becomes a tenant? Also is he in it thinking she is "rich?" later on when she finds her birth mom?

-I liked that the mom of the fashion agency keeps personal and work separate. I am GLAD she was disappointed in her daughter for her behavior. I am also glad for the FL not to make it EASY for her when they mistreated her. It was gutsy for the FL to tell her about the bullying incident. (I think telling it head on was the SMART thing to do.)

-The mom made at the ML and then later at the hubby. She just kept taking it from her bully hubby. Glad she got fed up and under the guise of being all passive and agreeable she left home. YES he could not get mad at her for NOT cleaning the place, making a simple meal. But his stingy ways to have the souvenir to her to be given to someone else?  Say he would buy macarons more pricier than the one's her son bought her. Then throws in but you shouldn't eat sweets so late as you will get fat. UGGGGH his sweet words are later thrown off by cold water as his stingy cheap ways  come back in full force.

The adoptive mom is an angel. She is TOO kind. OMG. YIkes.

What is up with her lil bro going to the sister's mortal enemy at the company to try to help her sister. Though he had good intentions, we know that rookie idol would STILL Not be nice to his sister.

The interaction of the ML and FL when they are working is cute. When he asked about her "grand prize" and giving her advice. But also you can tell he is seeing glimmerings of attraction to our feisty and lovely FL. That embarrassing last scene is something that he will have a LONG time to recover from with her. Everyone got an EYEful.

So far the type and form of family violence that is shown in this drama has nothing funny, therefore the music of the corresponding scenes is not adequate. This drama is supposed to be of the genre: Romance-Comedy so here there is a problem, I don't know if it is the Director or the actor Jung Bo-Suk (father of the protagonist) who are not doing well.

Interesting it seems Bit Chae was possibly kidnapped/stolen from her current “eomma”

Loving this Weekend drama so far.  I don’t have a lot of good dramas these days to look forward to.

@shahila197878 I don't know of Kpop group Emerald to be honest. I think for this drama only. I know at times there are real groups who do cameos. I checked a article list real quick and could not find one of NOTE that is famous or noteworthy.

@mizv Yes, that fact that FL eldest was stolen from her current internships CEO Kim Jung Won. Last weekend's episode brought her in contact with the adoptive mom. She with her guilt is nervous and it is a matter of time the FL learns of their connection? Funny how the adoptive mom just chose a random place to be dropped off to avoid being seen.

I loved Jae Hee's mom Min Jae finally got her GROOVE back and even CEO Kim Jung Won approved it. Min Jae might have not wanted her to know she still appreciated her comment and support.

Jae Hee learns of Seo A's story with Chae Woon and is not believing it. As he is falling for Chae Woon (as the new tenant trying to hit on her and he is not having it) will speed  up his pursuit of her too/or realization of his feelings for her. Seo A, not matter how hard you like Jae Hee oppa,,he always tells you he is NOT for you.  When you find out he likes your enemy that you framed for bullying you will hurt you more.

Gosh to find out that Seo A bullied Chae Woon and unfairly blamed it on Chae Woon (did not surprise me) and CEO Kim of course sided with her adoptive daughter. (But she has niggling maternal feelings emerge looking at her when she came to protest the plagiarism charge. Then to have the new sketchy tenant that Hae Deun seems to like Hwang Na Ro oppa.

Ra Hoon and his crush on a university student who ends up liking him too (ah so happy for him but sucks) as he is NOT a real student so he is avoiding her. I was happy she liked him back but sad that he is not able to tell her HE is not a student there. He tried to run out and just leave but she was very diligent in chasing him and wanting to see him again.Awww. (Cool to see the actor here and in 18 Again too.)

Looking forward to this weekend and more adventures of these families

So I see this show is not going for any subtlety with their characters. That said SJ ( the kidnapper) has to be the worst because she knows exactly who and where the real birth mother is and refuses to say anything out of selfishness.
