I also don't understand Dal Mi's behaviour. She goes to look for Do San and once she's there with him and insists in talking....all she does is falling asleep (a successful move though). When they have a big personal mess and a very important professional project to discuss. Then Do San simply decides that he will join her. I missed an adult conversation between Do San and Dal Mi, agreeing that they would work together and forget about the past, even if that's a lie and both are harbouring hopes of seducing the other again...

@Rollito Deprimavera yes this, you’ve said it all, so anti climax. What a waste of this beautiful set up and cinematography.

@aisling I’m glad to see that you have come to love this decision of JH. We are all proud of such an impressively wide spectrum in his portfolio at such a young age. Many top tier actors play it safe and can’t get out of the one type of role (women’s ideal fantasy) for their entire careers.

Finally got to see the the Finale. So glad the momentum picked up again and the ending was great and satisfying, more than I could have ever expected. This is so rare as even some of the best dramas’

I’ve been avoiding other discussions since they’re less civil than this one, but it seems like people are still pouring out their hate for DS.. Can’t they use their energy to hate on Won In Jae’s step dad and step brother instead? They’re way worse than DS and have had zero character development (unlike every other character) :foodie3:The writer has kind of been using HJP as a plot device almost this entire time. I want to know if people ignore their feelings in real life and choose someone they don’t have feelings for just because they’re supposedly more polished and accomplished? Don’t people usually value attraction as a compatibility factor?

Not really,  attraction may important AT FIRST but "compatibility and longevity" of a relationship depend on emotional and mental connection. What they do for each other and what they think of each other.

Sometimes, I really do feel like people dislike DS not because he’s that disagreeable but because he’s not much of a typical male lead or a stereotypically masculine character. He’s not exactly swoony like Hyun Bin’s character in CLOY or anything. He’s not that assertive, he’s not tough, he’s geeky, he’s awkward/inexperienced when it comes to romance, he’s made rash decisions (the breaking of the name plate).. In comparison, HJP’s character fits the stereotypical male lead role better. He’s hard on the outside and soft on the inside, wealthy, accomplished.. I feel bad because I feel like leads with dispositions like NDS should still be able to be loved.

NDS is getting hate for lots of reason. For me (personally)

1)He took advantage of a situation for his own good without thinking about others (Dalmi, Jipyeong....). The reason why all those problem got bigger is because he decided (by his own will) to give his card, letting more space to meet Dalmi again ....while Jipyeong already told him to finish it quickly.

It was supposed to be "him pretending to be a CEO Nam Do San, boyfriend of Dalmi for few hours. Tell her he have a girlfriend and can't met anymore and go home" that's it.

At first I can understand that he wanted to try, to take advantage of this opportunity to meet this beautiful Dalmi since he saw his life as a failure and nobody saw him with admiration like the way Dalmi looked at him. But when I knew later that he already went through something like that in exam where he (even if for me he didn't cheat) took advantage of a situation for his own good that end up being something that made him doubt himself. He should've be more aware of the consequences. He did the same mistake.

2) Actually viewers will sympathize with the underdog story "poor guy, naive, kind, smart, innoscent" as long as he isn't evil, ungrateful, selfish, spoiled kid. But here he was selfish, ungrateful. He wanted Dalmi for himself using Nam Do San story (letters) to get close to her which is UNFAIR. He took credit for something he didn't do.

Call me petty for that but that's the true. HE WAS JUST LUCKY TO HAVE THE NAME NAM DO SAN on a magazine papers (which was because he won a medal which he knew he didn't deserve) to meet Dalmi. And when he started to see Jipyeong as his rival, he wanted to cast him out. Which make us not like him because Jipyeong is a VICTIM. Jipyeong did all those things for others NOT HIMSELF. Jipyeong wrote those letters to help Dalmi who didn't have friends and lost her mom and sister, Jipyeong helped grandma to search for Nam Do San. Jipyeong helped Nam Do San to impress Dalmi. NDS started a relationship with Dalmi knowing it was based on lies.

NDS said he lied at first because it made Dalmi smile and then he still lied because he didn't want Dalmi to cry. He cheated his way to be close to Dalmi. If he wasn't the NDS who wrote the letters, Dalmi would reject him right away. Call it fate...but the base of their relationship wasn't healthy nor honest.

So for me DODAL ending will be a bad ending. Only a JIDAL ending give credit to honesty, maturity, love and patience.

I don't hate Do San, he is good and kind guy. He just needed to find himself, to learn to trust himself and build his confidence with honestly and maturity like Jipyeong.

I want him to start a relationship with another girl and do it the right way. No lies. Both are still young and can fall in love easily. They just need to have a proper closure and break up.

HAN JIPYEONG is the ideal man for every woman. Even lately he is PERFECTION PERSONIFIED Of course people will love him. It's right to love good people who do good things than to love bad people who do bad things. Jipyeong didn't beat people, didn't lie for his own good, didn't create a fake identity to be loved. He did lots of good things for people he loves. He was true to himself and THAT MADE VIEWERS LOVE HIM EVEN MORE.

Of course I'm for FL and ML having more flaws than perfection as long as the lead get rid of them and learn from it.

I think it’s funny how we as the audience freaked out more over the lies about the letters than Dal Mi did. Perhaps her reaction wasn’t enough like some believe it was, but in the end, although the letters and their writer were really important to her at one point, they weren’t her everything!

That's what lots of viewers want to know. If it weren't her everything, why made a big deal for it for 15 years that NO MAN was able to date her. And she never adressed those questions to Jipyeong which is frustrating since viewers need to know WHY make a big deal of it for so many years and just ignore everything about it just for a guy she dated for 4 months. If it means nothing anymore, she must throw those letters since it belong to Jipyeong not NDS.

Lol what?

Sorry to burst your bubble but Nam joo hyuk and Suzy are wayyy more popular than Kim seon ho. Start up rating is stable since eps 1, I'm sure because people waiting for the main cast and the writer, because they dont know the story yet and the main cast are Nam joo hyuk and suzy, yes it is enough to bring the viewers thats way they get casted. They also bring international viewers through netflix, because suzy is former popular idol and nam joo hyuk is popular actor (both of them have over 13million instagram followers).

I know Suzy from Miss A since 2010, she is even called Nation first love, JYP visual, Suzy/Yoona/Dara as Big3 Godess and known for being one of best vocalist live alongside Taeyeon...at that time. I saw lots of her dramas too.

I knew NJH thanks to the drama WFKBJ in 2017 and some YG related stuffs.

I watched this drama for both of them since I already knew it will be a VISUAL COMBO and I didn't want to miss such opportunity as both are the same age which was perfect.

I didn't even know Kim Seon Ho, even if I heard about 2D1N in many related things ( artcles and video).

But 80% of viewers was charmed by his character and impressed by his acting.  He is even now the talk of the town. Topping Brand Reputation of November, getting more love call. I'm not saying Suzy and NJH didn't do well, but KSH surpassed them and I know without KSH character, lots of people would drop the drama. BIG NAME bring in viewers and acting, plot, script, character....make people stay. We can't compare Suzy and NJH popularity against KSH since of course Suzy and NJH will have more fans = more viewers.

I'm sure it wouldn't be the same if the lead was kim seon ho, because he isn't popular actor and most of international fan don't even know him.

True, and this drama is a hit drama that will bring him on INTERNATIONAL STAGE and FAME. He is popular now and lots of people love him now. He is starting to rise and gain his own loyal fanbase. It's just a start for him since now people will be interested in his future work. If he pick his future drama well, he can become an hallyu star. His name alone will bring lots of viewers too. And happy for him because he deserves it. He did a phenomenal job as Jipyeong. I will never forget his character because it was my first real SLS that I even take time to write any theory and views about this drama.

As the drama going I doubt it's kim seon ho / JP who carried it, in fact that the rating peak (the highest rating) are mostly for DODAL aka main couple, yes viewers want to watch them instead of JP-DM

Suzy and NJH fans want that, but if we were about being "non biased" there are more people who prefer a Jidal ending despite not being a fan of KSH.

Suzy is not a great actor, I agree, but imo, she did a good job in this drama, never once she had acted like she even has an ounce of attraction towards Ji pyeong. I get that all the Jipyeong fans wanted to see him happy because he has been suffering all his life, but I can't understand why they want him to end up with someone who doesn't even love him.

Honestly I want him to fall in love with another girl but his connection with Dalmi is so deep. It's not just a girl he saw and fall for her beauty.

He saw her 15 years ago crying and was touched, they exchanged letters for 1 year during hard time in both of their life. He saw her 15 years later crying and was touched. They related on so many levels. He is selfless and ready to lower himself for her sake.

And Dalmi is a sweet loving beautiful woman. He is closed with her grandma. She is just the perfect girl for him. I can't see another woman better for him. While DS can find another woman who like coding.

20 hours ago, kokodus said:

How can he be happy like this? Those darn letters are just beautiful memories, she didn't fall in love with the person who wrote the letters, if she had, she would have not fallen for the real dosan who is completely opposite to letter dosan and dalmi was quick enough to recognize the changes early on itself. While the one who wrote the letter was also right beside her, but she never once saw him in a different light.

This is why it's so painful. She was never be able to  face Jipyeong about it. If those letters means nothing, she should throw them. Then I will understand that it means nothing anymore and she moved on from it completly. Viewers will understand her heart more. Because right now she is just like all of us, confused, still loving her first real relationship. But just like lots of us, many moved on from our 1st relation (it was hard) but we did. That's what I'm waiting even if it's 1% chance for a Jidal ending. Clown until the end.

20 hours ago, kokodus said:

I'm just saying that we should always follow the female lead's heart in a love triangle. Its simple logic. No matter who the better guy is in our eyes, if dalmi loves dosan then she will end up with dosan. I personally think its kinda cute that she fell for this not so perfect, doozy guy like dosan, instead of the all-perfect all-accomplished Ji pyeong.

I can overcome lots of Do San flaws since nobody is perfect and having an imperfect ML is somehow interesting. But it's so hard to see Jipyeong (the one who wrote the letters, who was there for Dalmi) getting cast out because he is useless now while he played Cupidon for the sake of the FL hapiness. I find it unfair.

It's like Do San took his identity, his story, his connection with Dalmi, his clothes, his communication skills....to put the woman he loves with another man. And now everybody should ignore his feeling and be happy for Dodal.

Hi It’s been awhile since I post in this forum..I haven’t read all the posts, I just need to let my theory out of my mind otherwise I go crazy hehe..please don’t bully me, it just my silly observations and you can said that I am delusional, I really don’t mind..

watching the last 2 episodes I feel like there’s a chance that Jipyeong is the one that Dalmi chooses in the end..

here’s my thoughts (I put in the spoiler box because it’s too long and you can skip it if you don’t want to read my post)

Spoiler

1. in the preview ep 15, Dalmi wears a necklace in her neck, I am guessing it from HJP, we all know that he buys a jewelry for her that he hasn’t give to her, and until now, we don’t know what kind of jewelry that he bought. Dalmi never wear any necklace since ep 1, please CMIIW..so I think there’s a slight chance that Dalmi will pick HJP

2. the paralel scene. From the start, dalmi likes dosan(hjp) but the real dosan come in and in the end he win dalmi heart but now the situation has change, she likes dosan but hjp come to win her heart and probably he can win her heart if my theory is right. The paralel scene was

- Dalmi crying, when she cried with dosan after meeting injae and her mom, dosan open hjp car window and cheer her up while in the recent scene dalmi cry after meeting dosan, HJP hide her and let her have the space that she needs and let her cry
- Dalmi find investor and hjp rescue her by pick her up in his car, let her sleep and gave him shoes, just like dalmi find developer (dosan), dosan also let her sleep and carry him in his back

-HJP throw away the plants that dalmi gave while Dosan throw away the baseball

In this all paralel scene means there are a reversal, now HJP take the dosan place in her heart

to make my theory right, I need the aha moments for HJP, like saha used to said before, when dalmi confused about her heart, just find aha moments..it should be in ep 15 because once again Dalmi confused about her heart (it just doesn’t make sense why she has to be confused anymore if her heart hasn’t change, I thought we all know that she already chose dosan but if she confused again then someone already sway her heart)

3. Dreamhigh comparison, if you watch dreamhigh maybe you know the character well enough so cmiiw, at first we thought that Dosan is samdong because he’s the main character, personality almost the same and he join later (samdong ep 3, dosan ep 2), but there’s this trait that dosan doesn’t has it while hjp has. It’s the ‘ok if she doesn’t like me back’..we all know hjp already confessed and he’s okay if he doesn’t get the answer, he just want her nearby, it’s exactly like samdong, and samdong has one side love just like hjp plus dosan has the first kiss while in dreamhigh is jin guk, so if it’s the same plot, the chance of hjp getting choose become huge

of course my theory just a theory and there’re ton of flaws, like the writer always choose the main lead and we all know that the main lead are dodal, many ost for dodal, the marketing for this startup drama always dodal while seonho usually alone promoting..so dodal still happily sailing but I don’t know, something isn’t right..

why I doubt the main couple because the last 2 episodes are just weird for me, like when dalmi go to dosan in to the camp, it just waste of good scene, there’s a lot more you can do in that beautiful scene, dodal can reconcile and kiss, plus they can stop this ridiculous dragging triangle love line and they can focus on the main theme, also when dalmi wants to be alone and have this misunderstanding, dalmi can call dosan right away and fix the misunderstanding but she choose not to and said the same thing what hjp said to dosan (the three years can change relationships) and the way dalmi look at hjp is different now, she’s more comfortable with him and the awkward moments when hjp being honest with her plus she’s okay if he stay in her place..

I really don’t mind if dosan with dalmi because he obviously need her the most, I just wish that Dosan can become more confident, mature because what I saw in the preview, it just such a pity that hjp is the one who told him what he needs to do..I wish the reason he’s with dalmi is because he deserves to be with dalmi rather than because he needs her the most..

I feel like I’m 100% gonna regret responding to your post, and there’s pretty much no point in doing so since you’re heavily invested in Jidal and not at all likely going to change your mind, but here I am.

I laughed so hard after reading “HAN JIPYEONG is the ideal man for every woman.” I guess I’m not a woman anymore! lmao. Do you and other Jidal shippers force your friends to date men that fit your criteria of what makes an “ideal man”? How sad... If my friend was Dal Mi and she loved Do San, as long as he wasn’t the world’s greatest piece of crap, I’d support her, not tell her she’s making a gigantic mistake.

“PERFECTION PERSONIFIED” I laughed even harder. I doubt even HJP himself thinks he’s perfection. Does the writer even think he’s perfect?

Do San is ABSOLUTELY flawed. In a way that makes you and likeminded others prefer Ji Pyeong way more. I’d just like to point out that Ji Pyeong punched Do San back lol. Do San threw the first punch, but Ji Pyeong fully participated in that fight. Are you really going to make it sound like Do San beats people up on a regular basis? Like he just goes around hitting people all the time?

“Good things for people he loves” Let’s just conveniently forget how Do San thought up the idea for Noon Gil BECAUSE of Halmeoni. Not like it means anything anyway lol!

@peachfuzz I must also not be a woman as I happily married a real NDS 13 years ago, one who is incredibly smart and kind, nerdy, geeky but super literal and pure, and apparently hated by all women on earth, according to the majority of viewers of this drama

@peachfuzz Say it louder, girl!! I seriously laughed so hard at the suggestion that JP is the utlimate perfect prince charming that all women want. These kind of guys don't exist, only in kdramas. If they do exist in real life, they are the worst type of bf/husband. Guys like JP in "real life" are generally picky, nitpicking, and standoffish. If they know they're hot RickRoll'D, they will demand perfection from their gf/wife too. These young girls need to learn that there's no charity in love, and definitely no Cinderella-prince charming in real life.

No need for argument, I see a lot of negative reaction to posts from newly created user who supported JP

Both male leads of the drama are inferior even though they are successful in life

And also, don't compared the popularity of NJH and KSH because in the first place, NJH is always more popular as he has more lead roles over KSH

I find popularity debates pointless....popularity can fade just as quickly as it rises and vice versa but this show did put Kim Sun Ho in new light just like it did with Nam Joo Hyuk during Weightlifting Fairy days...Nam Joo Hyuk has been steadily doing good work and gaining for a while..I liked him better in School Nurse Files and The Light In Your Eyes though, better written and meatier roles compared to this show.

I enjoyed ep 13 and 14. And it was clear on both episodes who is really in DM's heart - it is DS. Again, JP missed his timing.

I know NJH is the ML in this drama so a DM-DS endgame is expected but I just wanted to point these out for those who still feel that JP is the better pairing for DM. First of all, it is DM's decision who she will choose, and she clearly loves DS even after 3 years of separation. Apart from the moments when DS was there for DM, especially when he rushed over to fix the ransomware, one moment that particularly struck me was when they talked on the phone for hours --- they connect and that's very important in a relationship.

In the preview, JP told DS to stop feeling inferior to him and to look at DM again. I think JP will already be conceding in the next episode. He knows both DM and DS still have feelings for each other and he'd realize that he can't force them apart.

My fave moment in episode 14 was the epilogue. I love DS's parents so much. They're so supportive and cute together.

I'm a bit anxious and sad that this drama is ending but I'm looking forward to see how it goes too. I wanna see Halmeoni use Tarzan, as well as IJ and JP have their own happy endings. Let's all enjoy this ride and support the cast and crew who worked hard for this drama.

Sorry but I laughed so hard  @M Co

Thanks for made my day!!

Anyway @peachfuzz the argument of 'DS is trash, he punched JP!!!!!' is so classic of JP worshiper, I can't count how many of them say that, looks like they have same template lol

Tbh that scene is soooo common in drama or any movies. I get it was wrong of DS, but it's not like JP doesnt punch back either, both of them get bruises and have fair punch lol. This is the first time I've seen that people have so much complain of 2 people fighting in drama. Imagine if they watching action drama or movies then, They would have a mental breakdown

I loved episode 14 but I felt so sad for NDS in this episode (long angsty post ahead).

DS went back to Sandbox full of hope that he could reclaim his jacket (and DM's affections), achieving his dream of turning a misunderstanding into a reality. Then JP lied to him in the elevator and shattered his long-held wish. Knowing she was in a relationship with JP confirmed his worst fears, basically invalidating their entire relationship by reminding him that DM never loved him in the first place (he wasn't the guy in the letters) and he could never live up to the letters despite the reset. DS realised that the past 3 years pining for a reunion with DM were meaningless and that DM was right i.e. he was holding onto an illusion. On top of that DM didn't call him back when he was frantically calling her, compounding his heartbreak.

He later had to suffer by facing DM in his office (looking ridiculously beautiful) believing she was happily involved with JP, having left him behind completely. To eliminate any possibility of them working together, he said the harshest words he had ever heard back to her and said he never wanted to see her anymore - only to hear an unexpected & heartfelt admission from DM that his words were hurtful and she was sorry for the past. The problem was he was bluffing when he said this - he had still not accepted 'the reality', nor did he actually believe that person he loved wasn't her (his feelings hadn't changed at all). He only said he didn't want to see her again to spare himself more pain - this wasn't his heart's desire so he found himself lying to her again.

All his attempts to erase the past or discard his memories were unsuccessful. Even after going on an arduous journey to forget DM and 'face reality' (thereby fulfilling what he said to her earlier), he realised that his attempt at pushing her away backfired because he was thinking about her more than ever. The bitterness and pain in his voice at the camp site was a massive contrast to the sweet, puppy dog DS from earlier episodes. Thankfully towards the end he softened once DM explained the meaning of Tarzan and also reassured him that her journey was difficult (symbolised by DS finally noticing/addressing her wound once he tenderly spoke to her). I think he resigned himself to the fact that he still loved her but I don't think the misunderstanding about JP has been cleared up so he's still going to suffer in Ep 15.

I wish they put DS out of his misery already and wrapped up this love triangle! Anyone else feel sorry for poor DS?

@Izaid08 @Arajo81 Absolutely. Again, inconsistent character development which is irritating. Earlier when DM met DS in his rooftop office, she acknowledged how much pain DS must have been through. And yet she didn’t think DS would be hurt when he was convinced that JP and her are now together? The seemingly insignificant details like these can make it appear like DM is confident in her “power” over DS, not nice. Even though the FL only loves the ML, till the finale the ML still has to keep questioning can she return to me, does she really love me etc etc which shadows his image, shadows the inspiring actual “startup” content.

I also hope the ep.15 preview is misleading. It is unacceptable should JP need to tell DS what to do

Yeah that wasn’t my only gripe with the writing. In episode 13 JP showed DS the ring box he was going to give DM. DS was upset and left sandbox, telling his mum he wasn’t going to contact DM until the ransomware attack suddenly happened. Then in episode 14, JP insinuated he was in a relationship with DM which drove DS over the edge and he became utterly devastated, lashing out at her when she came to the rooftop office.

It felt like they were repeating that plot device twice (ie the misunderstanding about DM moving on with JP)... maybe it just me that found this odd!

I also find it disappointing that Jp has to give DS guidance to chase DM but there are a few possible reasons:

- DS may believe DM is dating Jp so JP needs to clear any misunderstanding

- I think the final growth area for DS will be to make peace with the ‘letter DS’ (ie he can’t ignore it because it means a lot to DM and only Jp can give him that closure by handing over JP’s past with DM completely (initially it was merely temporarily lent)

- JP has caused pain/chipped DS’s confidence for a long time (eg lying about a relationship with DM, the scrunchie incident, constant belittlement in the early episodes, showing off about the 461 questions and constantly interfering in DS and DM’s quality time) so he needs to atone and act like a good older brother (fulfilling his earlier lie to DM)

@Arajo81 yes those are all the possibilities but regardless by the finale the line “stop feeling inferior to me and look at DM again” is very inappropriate for its negative connotation on the ML. A ML who by now still has to take another’s direction even when it comes to the dream of his life- that’s bad writing and very unfair for DS. It negates his efforts during his tough growth journey. I loved DS’s comeback in ep.13 just to be sad for him again in ep.14. Well, I blamed it on the lazy writing but also felt like the writer wanted to do fan service for the favorite 2nd ML. Whatever the reason, if by the finale the ML becomes unconvincing, uninspiring and his pain and sorrow still can’t touch the audience (we know the majority don’t favor him but at least should develop empathy for him by the end of the show) then that would be really sad. I really hope we would have a satisfying ending :star:

I honestly agree with you. I would rather DS just came to an epiphany and sought DM out on his own, throwing out any insecurity by having enough faith that he was enough.  I wish JP would butt out completely so DS could show some backbone and fight for what he wanted, believing he had something to offer that JP didn’t.

I also think DM bears some responsibility because a) she told him he wasn’t the DS from the letters and b) after her ‘aha’ moment, she didn’t get the chance to confess that DS was in her heart the whole time.

This has translated into a disappointing situation where neither the ML or FL feel confident to be honest about their feelings. I love these two characters so much (especially Dosan) but I think this lingering insecurity after 15 episodes and 3 years devalues somewhat their beautiful love story. Like if DS doesn’t think he’s enough for DM near the end of the story, why would the audience believe in him?

The preview hints that the writer will give Jp redemption (sacrificing his feelings for DM to bring them together) and setting up a brotherly ending for him, DS and DM. Jp’s shadow over their relationship was removed at the end of ep11 when DM realised it was DS in her heart. Why then is he still a factor now after all this time?

Really hoping for a beautiful organic ending for Dodal where all the focus is on their growth, understanding and maturity as a couple - not the work behind the scenes of another character playing Cupid...
