Character descriptions

 

After completing her business degree, it took Chae Song-ah (Park Eun Bin) another 4 tries to finally get accepted into the music program at the same school. Now, at the age of 29, she is re-entering university as a first year student with new majors in violin and instrumental music. Still, like many other young adults, her biggest headaches are uncertainty over her career path while and an unrequited love.

Hailing from a humble background, Park Joon-young (Kim Min Jae) is an only child and his parents who run a small restaurant. His life changed at the age of 6 when he was first introduced to classical music and the piano. Since then, he’s been winning competitions across the country and receiving scholarships from various cultural foundations. With that support, he attended specialized music schools throughout his youth before being accepted to college as a music major. Despite his talent and success as a pianist, Park Joon Young is a gentle soul who thinks of others before himself, and he does not harbor much ambition.

A new drama is in the works for SBS called Do You Like Brahms? and actors Park Eun-bin (Stove League) and Kim Min-jae (Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim 2) have been courted for leading roles.

Set at a prestigious college, the story focuses on students studying music and their high pressure environment. From a very young age, the students have had endless lessons, practices, and competitions–with their abilities constantly under the scrutiny of others. The drama aims to examine the different relationships in the students’ lives, exploring what it means to truly be supportive and the different factors that drive someone to show support.

If she accepts, Park Eun-bin will be playing the part of Chae Song-ah. Park Eun-Bin cast in SBS drama series “Do You Like Brahms?”

Park Eun-Bin is cast in SBS drama series “Do You Like Brahms?” (literal title). For the drama series, Park Eun-Bin will play lead female character Chae Song-A. Her character majored in business administration at a prestigious university, but her passion is playing the violin. After 4 years of preparation, she enrolls in the college of music at the same university where she graduated from. 4 years later, she begins to work as an intern and meets world famous pianist Park Joon-Young. Actor Kim Min-Jae is currently still considering an offer to play the lead male character.

After, Park Eun-Bin agreed to perform in the drama series, she began practicing playing the violin. Filming for “Do You Like Brahms?” is scheduled to begin filming April, 2020 and the drama series will air sometime in the second half of this year.

More actors have been confirmed for the cast of “Do You Like Brahms?”

“Do You Like Brahms?” (literal translation) is an upcoming drama from SBS about classical music students who lose their way in the gap between their talent and harsh reality before ultimately finding their own paths to happiness.

Park Eun Bin has already been confirmed to star as Chae Song Ah, a college senior majoring in violin performance. She had previously graduated as a business major before re-entering university as a music student, making her several years older than her classmates.

Kim Min Jae is also in talks to play the pianist Park Joon Young, who has been playing piano since he was six years old.

On April 3, Namoo Actors confirmed that Lee Yoo Jin and Park Ji Hyun would be joining the cast. Lee Yoo Jin will be playing Yoon Dong Yoon, Chae Song Ah’s friend and violin teacher. He was good enough to graduate from a prestigious university, but after a realistic consideration of his prospects, he now makes his living as a maker and repairer of string instruments. As her teacher, he wholeheartedly supports Chae Song Ah’s efforts.

This will be Lee Yoo Jin and Park Eun Bin’s second time working together. They both previously appeared on the JTBC drama “Age of Youth 2.”

Park Ji Hyun will be playing Lee Jung Kyung, a talented violinist who graduated from a prestigious university. She is the granddaughter of a chaebol and became famous for for being a child prodigy, but after her mother’s sudden death, she decided to live an ordinary life.

It’s official: Kim Min Jae will be starring in the upcoming SBS drama “Do You Like Brahms?” (literal title).

On April 13, the actor’s agency announced, “Kim Min Jae has been confirmed to appear in SBS’s new Monday-Tuesday drama ‘Do You Like Brahms?’ in the leading role.”

“Do You Like Brahms?” will tell the story of the talented students at a prestigious music schools as they chase after love and happiness. Torn between dreams and reality, each of them faces difficult decisions along the way.

Kim Min Jae will star in the drama as Park Joon Young, a star pianist who happened to stumble upon the piano when he was six years old. Since then, he has gone on to win not only Korea’s most prominent competitions, but also numerous international competitions. Despite his talent and success as a pianist, Park Joon Young is a gentle soul who thinks of others before himself, and he does not harbor much ambition.

Kim Min-Jae is cast in SBS drama series “Do You Like Brahms?” co-starring Park Eun-Bin. Kim Min-Jae will play lead male character pianist Park Joon-Young. His parents ran a small restaurant and did not know anything about classical music. At the age of 6, Park Joon-Young first discovered the piano and eventually won several international piano competitions. According to Kim Min-Jae’s management company, he is currently immersed in learning to play the piano for the drama series.

“Do You Like Brahms?” first airs sometime in the second half of this year in South Korea.

This is definitely something to look forward to in this miserable year! Eun Bin and Min Jae certainly seems like a good match, plus the whole musical backdrop. Let's hope the pandemic won't hinder the production.

Kim Sung-chul (Arthdal Chronicles) is coming on board SBS’s upcoming drama, Do You Like Brahms? This drama is about classical music students who are at a turning point in their careers, where their love and dreams are on the line.

Kim Sung-chul’s character is a prodigy cellist who has been on an elite path all his life. His name is Han Hyun-ho, and he has a bright, optimistic personality. He’s simple, with limitless energy and a strong work ethic. If he fails at something once, he’ll try again and again with resolve before accepting that something’s not possible. This ethic applies to both his musical career and his love life.

He fell in love with Park Ji-hyun’s (Rookie Historian Gu Hae-Ryung) character when they first met in middle school. He’s continuously expressed his love for her, and she finally fell for him after entering college. As a result they’ve been together for the past ten years.

SBS’s upcoming Monday-Tuesday drama “Do You Like Brahms?” has released photos of the cast going through their first script reading!

 

“Do You Like Brahms” will tell a story of love and dreams of classical music students, and will be the first SBS Monday-Tuesday drama in approximately two months. The script reading took place in April, and was attended by lead actors Park Eun Bin and Kim Min Jae, as well as Kim Sung Cheol, Park Ji Hyun, Lee Yoo Jin, Bae Da Bin, and more. They were also joined by PD (producing director) Jo Young Min and screenwriter Ryu Bo Ri.

 

Park Eun Bin will take on the role of Chae Song Ah, a fourth-year student majoring in violin who is seven years older than her fellow seniors. Although she started school later than most, her passion for playing the violin motivated her to pursue her dreams but she now feels confused about her future career and love life. Joining her is Kim Min Jae, playing the role of world-renowned pianist Park Joon Young. He is handsome and kind to others, while also hiding a deep pain and sadness that others don’t know about.

Surrounding the pair are Kim Sung Cheol as Han Hyun Ho, a cellist and longtime friend of Park Joon Young, Park Ji Hyun as violinist Lee Jung Kyung, Lee Yoo Jin is Chae Song Ah’s college orchestra club fried Lee Yoo Jin, and Bae Da Bin as Kang Min Sung. They are all set to delight viewers as youths navigating through dreams and reality, and love and friendship. Ye Soo Jung will play Na Moon Sook, the head of the Kyung Hoo Cultural Foundation, Seo Jeong Yeon as performance planner Cha Young In, Choi Dae Hoon as Park Sung Jae, and Joo Suk Tae as Yoo Tae Jin, Park Joon Young’s piano instructor.

 

The cast is said to have shown great chemistry throughout the script reading, with time flying by as they immersed in their roles. The actors are also said to be practicing how to handle their respective instruments in order to bring their characters to life. The production staff shared, “Right around late summer to early fall, ‘Do You Like Brahms?’ will great viewers. We will captivate viewers by blending classical musical with our drama’s unique charms and an exciting storyline. We hope people will tune in to enjoy the refreshing script, beautiful cinematography, and the actors’ hard work.”

Classical music lovers unite! Upcoming SBS drama Do You Like Brahms? featuring Park Eun-bin (Stove League) and Kim Min-jae (Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim 2), is just around the corner. Recently, stills from the first script read in April were released, and it’s looking cute and fresh already.

Do You Like Brahms? tells the story of six youths involved in classical music who have their own problems regarding their aspirations and their love lives. Park Eun-bin plays a 29-year-old college senior majoring in music with a concentration in the violin. She’s already seven years older than her peers because she discovered her passion for the violin later in life. With her approaching graduation, she’s faced with conflicting concerns on the practicality of her future career.

On the other hand, Kim Min-jae plays a world-renowned pianist who is both handsome and gentle. However, he has a hidden pain from his past. Kim Sung-chul (Arthdal Chronicles) plays a cellist who is Kim Min-jae’s good friend. Park Ji-hyun (Rookie Historian Gu Hae-ryung) plays another violinist.
