Let the Squid Games begin in Season 2 teaser

by tccolb

Netflix’s new teaser for Squid Game 2 is buzzing with activity as our masked worker bees are working around the clock to fire up the ovens and tuck in every bed sheet to ensure everything is perfect for the second round’s pawns guests.

The special guest of honor, of course, is Lee Jung-jae (Chief of Staff, The Acolyte) who opens the trailer. And given how Season 1 turned out, the understandably now-vigilant Sung Ki-hoon (Lee Jung-jae) anticipates danger from the knock at his door. But he’s still surprised to come face-to-mask with the elusive Front Man Lee Byung-heon (Our Blues), inviting Ki-hoon to come back to the secret lair for more playground scares.

In the sequence, the squid minions busy themselves with final checks, sweeping the yard clean before reporting to the boss that they’re ready to begin Season 2. We then cut to Ki-hoon waking up as the teaser comes to a close, finding himself in familiar surroundings and once again tagged as Player 456.

So far, the promos have focused on returning characters, which includes the dapper slapster Gong Yoo (The Silent Sea) and police detective Wie Ha-joon (The Midnight Romance in Hagwon). But we’ll also be seeing a crowd of new faces to zip up in green for the second installment, though their character details have not yet been revealed.

Lining up Im Shi-wan (Boyhood), Kang Haneul (Curtain Call), Park Sung-hoon (Queen of Tears), and Yang Dong-geun (Moving), the new cast adds Park Kyu-young (Sweet Home 2), Jo Yu-ri (Work Later Drink Now 2), and Kang Ae-shim (Frankly Speaking) as well.

The very large ensemble also has Lee David (Law School), Lee Jin-wook (Dear Hyeri), TOP (a.k.a. Choi Seung-hyun) (IRIS), and Noh Jae-won (Uncle Samsik), in addition to Won Ji-ahn (Heartbeat) and Jeon Suk-ho (Love Next Door).

Coming to our screens on December 26, production for Netflix’s Squid Game 2 continues with filmmaker Hwang Dong-hyuk (The Fortress) handling both directing and scripts.

Are you ready to see Gong Yoo on Netflix this December?

On October 1, Netflix released a new teaser for the much-anticipated original K-drama Squid Game Season 2. Unlike the previous teasers showcasing the main lead, this one was focused on the special character of the K-drama played by Gong Yoo.

In the teaser, Gong Yoo's character, a mysterious salesman at the subway station, was seen getting ready for his day and inviting selected people to play a game. The teaser ends with the question, "Would you like to play a game with me?" A quick but powerful scene in the teaser, showing Gong Yoo's character seeking a player for the game, brings back the suspense of the survival game from season 1.

As in the first season, Gong Yoo will briefly appear in Squid Game Season 2.

The second season of Squid Game will continue the story of Seong Gi Hoon, the recent winner of the mysterious game, who takes revenge by joining the game once again.

Lee Jung Jae will continue to portray the role of Seong Gi Hoon. For Squid Game Season 2, he will work alongside Lee Byung Hun, Wi Ha Joon,  Yim Si Wan, Kang Ha Neul, Park Sung Hoon, Yang Dong Geun, Park Gyu Young, Won Ji An, Lee Jin Wook, Kang Ae Shim, David Lee, Noh Jae Won, Jo Yu Ri, and former BIGBANG member T.O.P

The Netflix original K-drama will be directed and produced by director Hwang Dong Hyuk once again.
