Kang Sora Talks About Her Special Appearance In Kang Ha Neul And Chun Woo Hee’s New Romance Film

Kang Sora recently talked about her special appearance in the upcoming film “Story of You and the Rain”!

“Story of You and the Rain” is an analog romance film about Young Ho (Kang Ha Neul) and So Hee (Chun Woo Hee), who become each other’s sources of comfort in life through the exchange of handwritten letters.

Kang Sora makes a special appearance in the drama as Soo Jin, a fellow student at Young Ho’s cram school. Kang Sora worked with Kang Ha Neul in the drama “Incomplete Life,” and with Chun Woo Hee in the movie “Sunny.”

Kang Sora said, “I liked how my character is honest and straightforward.” Unlike the shy and hesitant Young Ho, Soo Jin goes where her heart leads, giving Young Ho the courage to pursue his dreams. The character is similar to Kang Sora herself, whom Kang Ha Neul described as, “She has no hesitation in approaching people for the first time.” Director Jo Jin Mo said, “She fulfilled the role of Soo Jin, who is honest about her needs, without pressure. Her acting was natural and clean and I realized how good she was.”

About working with Kang Ha Neul and Chun Woo Hee again, she said, “I knew I had to appear in the film as soon as I heard that they were cast. It was so friendly and comfortable to meet up with them again, almost as if ‘Incomplete Life’ had just finished filming. It’s been 10 years since ‘Sunny,’ so I was glad to meet again. It was a meaningful experience to be able to appear in a project with them again in my 30s after working with them in my 20s.”

Last November, Kang Sora announced that she was pregnant with her first child.

“Story of You and the Rain” premieres on April 28.

Kang Ha Neul And Chun Woo Hee Share How Their New Romance Film Took Them Back To The Past

On April 20, the new romance film “Story of You and the Rain” (literal title) held a press conference with Kang Ha Neul, Chun Woo Hee, and director Jo Jin Mo.

“Story of You and the Rain” is about the romance between Young Ho (Kang Ha Neul) and So Hee (Chun Woo Hee), who become each other’s sources of comfort through the connection of a chance letter. The movie has an “analog” vibe through its depiction of the exchange of handwritten letters rather than phone calls or text messages.

Kang Ha Neul said, “There was only one reason I agreed to do the film. The script was really good. It felt like it had been a long time since I had read a script for a movie with this atmosphere and tone. I thought a lot about what it was like to write love letters in the past, and tried to recreate those feelings of excitement and anticipation. It was easy to get immersed in the script, and instead of having a big dramatic ending, everything that had been building up until then burst open in small ways.”

Chun Woo Hee said, “I also felt a sense of nostalgia. It’s been a long time since I read a movie synopsis with such quiet emotions. In the past, I took on extreme characters because I wanted to push against my limits, but for this one, the director said he wanted to show a new side of me. I tried to express a more natural side of me for this role.”

Most of the movie takes place in 2003. Chun Woo Hee said, “There’s a scene that takes place at a school sports day. I liked it when I read about it in the script, but when I saw it in the movie, I realized that this ‘sports day’ that had been part of our daily lives and the source of many happy moments had become quite rare. It was a beautiful scene but it hit me differently. I could remember the days when I was young.”

Kang Ha Neul said, “Since 2003 takes up most of the time in the movie, I thought a lot about what I was doing in 2003. I think I was in my second year of middle school. It was the year after the 2002 World Cup. I remembered a lot of things from that time. I think the most memorable thing from that time is ‘chicken mayo.’ I had that for the first time then, and it had a big impact on me.”

About working together in the film, Kang Ha Neul said, “I was really surprised when I met Chun Woo Hee for the first time. I had only seen her in darker projects where she spoke with a much lower tone before. Without knowing it, I had expected her to have a serious vibe, but she was very cute and lovable. There was a sense of surprise on my part.”

Chun Woo Hee said, “There are actually not very many scenes when we’re together, so instead of feeling a sense of chemistry, I had a lot of faith in him. He’s such a good actor. I didn’t get to see him a lot on set, but when I saw him, I felt that he had a lot of vitality. I was surprised while watching the movie as well.”

“Story of the You and the Rain” premieres on April 28.

Kang Ha Neul Talks About Upcoming Romance Film, Similarities And Differences To His Character, And More

Ahead of the release of his new film, Kang Ha Neul gave an online interview!

Kang Ha Neul’s upcoming film “Story of You and the Rain” (literal title) follows the romance between Young Ho (Kang Ha Neul) and So Hee (Chun Woo Hee). The two become each other’s sources of comfort through the connection of a chance letter and make the unlikely promise of meeting up on a rainy December 31. The movie has an “analog” vibe through its depiction of the exchange of handwritten letters rather than phone calls or text messages.

During his interview on April 22, Kang Ha Neul shared, “When I read the scenario, I felt touched rather than tearful. I interestingly felt touched not because this film is sad, but because I thought of many past memories that I had forgotten about. When I read the script, I feel like that was conveyed well, even through just the text.”

He continued, “In the film, you see Young Ho really value 1,000 and 2,000 won (approximately $0.89-1.79). Although I don’t necessarily relate to those times, I relate to the character. When I was 20-21 years old, 1,000 won and the few hundred won that went into my bus fare felt wasteful.”

Kang Ha Neul’s character Young Ho is a young student taking his second gap year, who sends his first love So Yeon a letter after reminiscing about her. When asked what characteristics are similar between him and his character, Kang Ha Neul answered, “Getting poor grades. Although I didn’t take a second gap year, if I wasn’t in acting, I wonder whether I would’ve taken a second, third, and fourth one.”

He also pointed out a difference, sharing, “Before I pursue a romantic relationship, I’m not ambiguous when we’re just talking. I’m the type to be sure.”

Kang Ha Neul has also been given the nickname “icon of acts of kindness” over time, of which he shared his thoughts on. He commented, “Personally, I have not lived my life trying to appear that way. I’m just living my life, so I just feel thankful and grateful. Since I’m not someone who has paid attention to that, I had no feelings of pressure, but I also don’t think I thought that I had to be careful. Rather than pay attention to it more, I thought that I should live more like myself.”

Kang Ha Neul’s film “Story of You and the Rain” premieres on April 28!
