[Drama 2020] Eighteen Again, 18 어게인

Just watched the new episodes and have got a major second lead syndrome protect Ji Woon at all costs he's so precious especially how he is raising his brothers daughter and refers to her as his child even wanting to retire for her sake, honestly don't think I will be able to watch him be heartbroken. He seems to really like Da Jung, I mean he literally only went to the restaurant just to see her and completely ignored his friends which was so cute! Also, the way he listened to her advice, so precious! Can't wait till episode 9 seems as if they will be going to have a meal together

 

Can we just talk what a horrible character Choi Kwon is, he is truly disgusting didn't think he could get any worse but in the preview it looks like he pushed Da Jung, honestly at this point I hope he gets caught and looses his job. It just shows that some people never grow up from their high school days..

 

I'm curious to find who is that mystery person that keeps trying to ruin Da Jung's career and is always following Dae Young, a bit creepy if you ask me.

me too!  Second lead syndrome going strong in my case as well.  

but really given how DA Jung is reminiscing about her past with Dae Young, not much chance of a miracle happening.  But I do love Lee Do Hyun in this show.  Very strong acting chops!

i love Lee Do Hyun! i first saw her in running man. never thot he is such a powerful actor. love ji hoon acring too! the casts for this drama is perfect! cant wait for tomorrow! 18 again fighting! i hope more people in korea will tune in to see this drama. it surely deserves more attention.

Same here! Struggling to find Eng Subs for their BTS also.
So many awesome scenes and messages in this drama. Maybe it is also because there are so many good dramas around, this is being overshadowed.

 

I also thought DaeYoung will return to himself. but then we won’t see the young DaeYoung (who is really quite an eye candy). There’s 8 more episodes left, wondering how he will become himself. But spoiler, did he reveal himself to Dajung and kiss her at the end? Can’t wait for next week!

I know many here ship Jasung with Shi Ah, but I find it a bit disgusting he spent time harassing and hitting her brother with his friend band and now he wants the sister ?? ok he apologized and he had his problems and i know that there are love stories that start in worse conditions than this,  but i find it disgusting and disturbing, sorry, that's not even a question of ship for me

I ship them. They’re so adorable and there are so many moments where it looks like Dae Young and Da Jung in the old days.

OMG love this drama.

 

So our FL dreams she is kissed by the Younger version of her hubby she thinks is his BF son. LOL. But we saw in the epilogue she slaps him. Of course she does! 

 

I thought it interesting the dad knew right away from his playing. Awww he is now having a better relationship with him. He realizes his ex wife was amazing with his dad.

 

Shi Ah rejecting Jaesung. I knew she did not reject him outright to give him face as it was in front of the WHOLE SCHOOL. I give her credit. She is honest and blunt but she was mindful to no do that. Unlike the FL in the webdrama I am watching "Love Revolution". There she totally did what Shi Ah couldn't do.

 

The moments when both mother and daughter thought the younger version of ML liked them. LOL. Poor mom/grandmother wondering what is up with them both.

 

I like the baseball player. He is nice and sincere about liking FL. But we know he has no hope with her as she is still hung up on her ex hubby. After that blockbuster premiere first episode she realized too what was wrong with her relationship and she got divorced. Now she talked to her ex coworkers and realized from the scummy coach there was alot about her ex hubby she did not know.

 

Vice versa the hubby learns his wife taking care of his dad ALL these years. Meals and gifts when he totally ignored his dad. Also he said he helped her with housework, he was NEVER around for them as a family and he did NOT work around the house to help. He just laid around. So when he was watching the pilot episode it was alot of food for thought hearing her confession she had regrets with the divorce. They should have had a thorough talk and one on one as people first.

 

The anchor said his DIVORCE and feelings as an exclusive was FUNNY. The big news rating thing that the evil intern took was for weather and our FL got to interview the baseball team due to her greed. LOL. Glad she got great ratings and is viral YET again based on her skills. Even the boss admitted grudgingly that FL is good.

 

I like that Shi Ah called dad/younger version "friend". YEAH. We know the son is friends with him and on the basketball team.

 

ML best friend having traction with the teacher he has a crush on. Awww cute and almost botched confession with FL best friend pushed to him oops. So now will she date him? He is nerdy and gave her a present she can appreciate. LOL.

 

Loving this drama. Lee Do Hyun is killing it.

i think it's not a dream.. Woo Young said she probably can't remember what happened last nite when she got off the bus in a fluster lol she reassured herself its a dream cos her mom said she came home by herself (which could be, no?)

 

 

the epilogue with a slap hahaha with all 3 at the garden witnessing it.. Ms Ok in shock probably cos a student kissing another student's mom while Ae Rin and Deok Jin were more like "Hong Dae Young wtheck ure doing?!"

 

we are at the last 4 ep... hopefully, Da Jung figures out who Woo Young really is... or, the old man needs to come back and save the day... i think Da Jung's last hurdle at work might be a scandal with a high school student lol

I am relieved that (so far) he is not written as a bad character. It is predictable that he wont end up with the FL so  I am not having 2nd lead syndrome but juz having a crush on him hahaha~ 

I need one of those spartan posters ...heee!! Eps 11 and 12 the most enjoyable for me

I'm starting to get irritated with the lead being overly meddling in the kids and DaJung‘s lives.  

 

Can't the script writer for once write that she has moved on after the divorce?

Stars of South Korean drama 18 Again talk about what they would do if they had a chance to go back in time

 

Here are five things to know about the cast and the series, which is available on Viu.

 

1 REMAKE OF AMERICAN COMEDY

The series 18 Again takes its premise from the 2009 American comedy film 17 Again, starring Matthew Perry and Zac Efron, but the cast says the South Korean adaptation leaves its own stamp on the material.

Kim (A Gentleman's Dignity, 2012), 42, tells The Straits Times over e-mail: "17 Again was really fun but 18 Again was remade to be warmer and more family-centred."

Yoon (Secret Garden, 2010) says of the original: "I watched it before I got married for fun, but after getting married, having children and raising them, I was able to empathise with the script more."

The 47-year-old is married to South Korean singer MayBee and they have two daughters and a son.

 

2 LEE DO-HYUN'S REGRET

The younger version of Dae-young that Da-jung's 37-year-old husband is trapped in is played by rising star Lee (Hotel Del Luna, 2019).

Asked if there is an age he would like to return to, the 25-year-old says: "I don't think I'll choose to wear glasses if I get to go back and be in third grade in elementary school again.

"I'm still regretting it as my eyesight got worse after wearing horn-rimmed glasses, which were trendy at that time."

 

3 KIM HA-NEUL'S WANDERLUST

Kim says she would like to go back to being 18, like in the drama series, and try backpacking for once.

She says: "I love travelling. And wouldn't I be happy if I could see and feel more with a healthier body?"

While both his co-stars would take the chance to return to the past, Yoon would choose to stay in the present with his family - where he is the "happiest".

 

4 A YOUNGER "OPPA"

Kim may be 17 years Lee's senior, but she did not feel awkward filming romantic scenes with him.

"I was worried at first because of our age difference, but he took good care of me on the set just like how an older brother (oppa in Korean) would. He was so sweet that I couldn't feel our age difference," she says.

 

5 GETTING THEIR ACT TOGETHER

The series sees Yoon and Lee playing the same character and they worked on aligning their performances.

Lee says: "I tried to catch the characteristics of Hong Dae-young as played by Yoon. I observed his footsteps, habits, way of speech and practised a lot in order to act it out as similarly as possible."

Yoon recorded himself to better his performance.

He says: "It was my first time taking on a role with a double, so I went through the script carefully before filming started. I was worried about my tone being different from Do-hyun's, so I recorded my own voice and practised a lot."

finally Da Jung believed Woo Young's words and was able to relate all the little things done by Woo Young were similar to what Dae Young had done for her last time.

 

 

but i dun quite understand the part where Ji Hoon found out about the old blackbox recording of his bro's accident and Dae Young was there at the scene... got to wait for the eng subs to be out. i hope it's the final hurdle and Dae Young would be able to return to his old ahjussi self. we are only left with 2 episodes to tie things up nicely!
