I'm wondering this same thing.

No, but I just googled. She was 20 when she acted as an 18 year old. But Park Hana is going to act as a character which is 12 years younger than her real age, which is crazy in my opinion. Usually the protagonists in dramas for this timeslot are in their 30s, so it might take some time for me to get use to this.

Not that crazy. She looks like a young girl. She is an actress. How rare for actors to play charatcers of their age.

People are too focused on age. What's the point ?

But all the shows I've seen her starred in are in her 30s, even The Promise if I've not mistaken. So, it would be quite weird to see her in her 20s for this show.

That’s actually true. I can see why it’s weird.

2020-1996=24yrs old in 2020. That's a possibility. A lot of actors play younger roles. Especially when there's time gaps.  Then a lot of times they use two actors to play the same role. Have you ever seen Sweet 18? A prosecutors' arranged bride is in high school.

No I haven’t. But they do this a lot in k-dramas, I’ve noticed.

ooh, thanks for letting us know. it did feel strange because they look age appropriate but in the story, there was a large age gap. guess I will just take it in the same way when older cast in their 50s act like they are in 20s in the flashback. ^_^... but your question does make me think -- is there a reason that the character is in high school? am sure that this will somehow be part of the story but I am wondering how. perhaps, she will get a lighter sentence because she is underage?

ep 2 thoughts ~ so we have the stage set for organ transplant mishap. hye won has a leech mother and it looks like she grew up feeling frustrated, bitter and angry. rather than love, she just wants someone who will take care of her. not sure why she is with tae in if she is having an affair on the side with joon hyuk. am still confused on why tae in and hyewon are wearing a wedding ring. are they legally married but have not had their social wedding? tae in is not leaning on hyewon and is instead crying in a corner. he also doesn't seem like a fool and is wondering about the key card. what exactly is their relationship?

Maybe I have seen Park Hana playing her own age a few times, she does not look like in her teens. More like a grad student. :D But if you remember Goong, they all looked old. Still it was fun. I think ED is supposed to be 19, in Goong they were 19 in the last school year.

I think we are going to have fun tearing HW apart.  She is a specialist, able to do heart transplants,  yet she breaks down without a fight when she is framed. Really a screwy logic.

yea, she doesn't seem confident for a surgeon which seems really strange. and not sure why she is relying on connections instead of her skills. is she any good at all? and did anyone think it strange that tae in apparently wanted to treat his father at another hospital but his mom insisted because she trusted hye won. did he think that his father won't get the best care? why would his father being treated there be a burden to hye won?

Maybe conflict of interests? My medical friends say not to treat close ones for serious cases. They lose their objectivity. But with Kdramas, who knows.

oh I see; maybe it is just cultural but in my place, we flock towards doctors we know. then families feel at ease that they will get the best care because the doctor will keep an eye even if they are not personally involved in treatment. mostly, it helps the family if they know a doctor as they might be able to translate health-speak and answer doubts and questions.

It's the same everywhere, we go to doctors and other service providers whom we can trust and rely. But let's say Dr. X's wife has breast cancer and he is an oncologist.  Should he treat her as her main doctor? Or his mother is dying of cancer, should he treat her himself? My medical friends say he should not, but it does not mean he washes his hands off.

Maybe with HW, a daughter-in-law is not considered too close. The actress is playing her weak and easily manipulated.

I can't remember which show the male lead actor was in.

ED's father is a guard, janitor in the subtitles, who is one strange man. He is a doting father, a caring friend and a popular worker, but does he have any commonsense? He says to HW that it is like murder and he pleads with a soon to be murderess not to do it?? :joy:

I wonder if this will be as funny as Unknown woman. Surprise, surprise he fell off the roof.

edit:

@chococarmela she was in Heaven's Promise as a low class crass mother, ED and her mother were also in that series. I have seen that poop slap guy but can't remember where.

I've seen him in Lovers in Bloom and Sunny Again Tomorrow.

Finally I've seen her getting captured in the trailer, let's see when she'll officially enter prison. I'm just waiting for the revenge part to happen.

Anyway, if you guys wanna watch revenge drama which involves company shares and fortune stealing, I'd recommend the chinese drama 'Daughter Back'! It consist of 50 45-minute episodes. Similar to these kinds of kdrama.

@Lmangla First of all I want to thank you for inviting me to this thread as well. You can be sure that I will be taking part in the talks over here. Just want to apologize for joining late. The site that I generally watch as well as my backup site all got this show late so I had a few episodes to catch up. Now that I have watched the first four episodes let me give my thoughts regarding them.

I did want to point out that I was initially planning on recapping the first episode atleast so that the viewers would have a general idea of what to expect but due to me catching up on the remaining episodes I decided against it for the time being. but there is also another reason why I was a bit hesitant to do so as well. turns out that the character relationship is a bit confusing. For instance, until the recent episode for some weird reason I was under the impression that the second lead was the son of the hospital chairman. Only to discover that he is the brother of Rich Guy or Poop Face.

Spoiler

Anyway before I get further into the post I wanted to address the question that @Lmangla brought up about getting treated by a doctor that you personally know against a stranger and how one would be more comfortable with the former. To this I would say that it should depend on the circumstances. If let’s say you something minor, then it probably is safe to be treated by said doctor but if you need to undergo something major like a surgery then it would probably be advised to not let said doctor treat you. Sure you can keep them on as someone to advice you on what course of actions to take but not perform the surgery itself. The reason generally being that while it may be easy and comfortable for you it may not be the same for the doctor. This may end up resulting them going under stress or feel the pressure which may result in a mishap.

Another issue which should be noted is that if a doctor performs a mistake which results in something going wrong (including death). A good doctor can and will probably apologize for the mistake (unlike Eun Ha from the previous mistake). At this point the hospital can even also get involved by trying to help out the doctor (if the mistake wasn’t intentional). At the most the injured party can take legal action but by the end of the day the each of the parties can move on. The victims side probably won’t have any other kind of interaction with said doctor and perhaps even the hospital. But on the other hand if the doctor is a family member or friend then the guilt is going to be worse for them. Not only this but they will have to meet up said victim on other reasons which will always cause a bit of friction or awkwardness between them which is probably only going to get worse as they will have no place to release their frustration and all. A fictitious example could be seen in the drama Hi Bye Mother. Where the husband tried to treat his injured wife but was unable to do so. This resulted in him getting a trauma.

But if we want to get realistic I remember my grandmother telling me of how she had a blood clot in her head. Her father asked a doctor that he knew (unsure if he was a family member or a really good friend of him. Can’t ask my grandmother for clarifications since she has passed away unfortunately). Anyway they thought that it would be a minor surgery so the doctor agreed to her father’s request. Only after the surgery took place they realized that it wasn’t so simple. Fortunately, my grandmother survived and the surgery was a success but the doctor clearly told her father that he would never be performing any kind of surgery for his family again. Clearly the pressure got to him.

Also if one can note this rule doesn’t only apply to doctors but also those in the legal professions such as Cops and Judges. If they know the victim it is generally assumed that those people will step down from the case due to potential conflict of interest. They may not be as fair and biased as they normally are due to knowing said persons. Granted at the end of the day they have the right to stay or leave such as if they are confident that they won’t be affected by the relationship they can continue with the case.

Anyway lets get back to the drama at hand and let me apologize once again for getting of topic.

So the first thing that I noticed was how people mentioned about the hospital shenanigans and what not. As well as the bullying incident and all. But for me the first thing that I noticed was what the show was trying to say. This is more about how people have principles and how they are tested by coming close to their breaking point and the choices that they make at such a moment. So far most of the people have ended up broken but let’s see if anyone here can survive it.

Then we have characters themselves. Also how they will probably work out with the others.

Let’s start out with the second main lead Choi Joon Hyuk. He seems to be the real villain this time around unlike his previous drama where he certainly had issues but was mostly innocent as his mother was the real schemer. But over here he needs no help in this department. For starters let’s look at the situation that he engineered to get what he wants. First he entraps Sena The Snakes (oops sorry wrong drama character) mother by making her accept money. But makes it look like she was taking a rebate and then offers her a way out. Switching hearts between his father and Tae-In’s father. In return he plans on protecting her if she becomes his woman. She doesn’t have much of a choice in this department but whatever she chooses he still wins. If she declined, then he would have her fired and her mother arrested. Unfortunately, this would have resulted in his father’s death. But it might also get Tae-Ins focus elsewhere for a short time allowing him to make some other schemes to get rid of him. Though with his father passing away he probably would have gotten the head position himself so he could have perhaps fired Tae-In in the first place.

But as we saw if she accepted his proposal he gets a better deal because now not only has he managed to save his father but Hye Won is also under his control. She can’t easily betray his as that would be like shooting herself in the foot as well. but he also manages to get brownie points from his father for a change. As for Hye Won he again gets the winning hand as he not only gets the woman that he loves but at the same time he gets one up over Tae-In as he manages to steal his rival’s girl. Though this does make one wonder does he actually have feelings for Hye Won or is she a mere trophy that he needs to have just so that his rival doesn’t get it.

Regardless we can probably see where is story will lead upto. He wants to inherit his father’s company/hospital but that isn’t going to be easy since Tae-In is still probably going to be his rival who will do his level best to not let him take over said company.

For instance, I have a small idea how Tae In can betray Eun Dong. From the first episode we can see how Eun Dong entrusts important documents to him so that he can use them to take down those that have wronged them. It now makes sense that he won’t be able to submit them for a few reasons. This could probably be because he will strike some sort of deal with the chairman. As of now the chairman seems to be a decent person. He was also on good terms with Eun Dong’s father. Infact we learn that her father was hired on his personal recommendation. But that is all okay until he has to save his own hide. In the last episode (4) Tae-In shows him certain documents and leaves with a warning that if he tries to cover up the truth he will leave him no choice but to hand them over to the prosecution. In this case I suspect that saving his company will come first to the chairman. So the only way to probably protect it is if he makes a deal of some sort that Tae In can’t easily get out of. Probably something to do with his father’s life as well. deal is probably going to be that he should marry his daughter. He did after all consider him as a potential SiL and the only reason that he didn’t press it was because Tae-In already had a girlfriend. This way he can assure him that once he dies he can take over the company and run it however he likes and thus be able to right the wrongs done by others. He might also just take over this offer out of spite for Jun Hyuk and to prevent him from running it. This will also further entail more material for the drama as those two would now become rivals and try and plot each other’s downfall.

After this we have the school bully and her mother. One can be sure that they will continue to be a thorn in the side of the other characters. People can’t easily change and in this case when people can get away with abusing power why should they stop unless something drastic happens. In this case the bully is going to continue to stay the same since she knows that her mother is there to solve all her problems. Initially I would have assumed that a love triangle can be there between the female lead and her. But who will be the third side of the triangle remains to be seen. I would have initially said Ji Hoon would make a good match since he is also young like them. but I doubt that will be the case over here since Koreans aren’t so keen on marrying cousins and all. So this would probably mean with Tae-In. Though if that is the case then it probably means that he still hasn’t married Ji Hoon’s sister. Perhaps they will be just engaged or something to that extent. But frankly I think him married to her would make for a much better story since Hye Won would be tormented to see him every day live the life that she wanted. It would also allow Eun Dong to get the wrong idea and think that he betrayed her so that he could improve his own life in return. Thus he becomes a target of her revenge for the wrong reasons.

Hye Won on the other hand is going to further spiral towards the dark side because she has nobody to help her see the light. This means that she is further going to commit crimes and try and hurt people who are innocent. The more she does she is going to rely on her new husband to have her back. Try and get rid of Eun Dong at every turn because she can’t bear to see her and if she knows that Tae-In has hidden feelings for her then all the more reason to get rid of Eun Dong. So one can easily try and imagine her trying to find ways to get rid of Eun Dong. People like her can’t seem to take the person that they love or supposedly love to move on or to fall in love with some other woman when they are still there or have become unavailable. At times I do feel sorry for her character but at the end of the day they are responsible for their own choices. Nor are they doing anything to rectify what they did wrong.

While we are on her someone brought up the fact how Eun Dong’s father tried to convince her to do the right thing which was extremely foolish on his part. He probably didn’t see it that way. Since he worked at the hospital he was bound to have run across her numerous times. Especially considering the fact that he was close to Tae-In’s father as well. So it is also safe to consider the fact that he must have heard tales regarding her from his friend about his future DiL. This would make him think that she was a nice person. So he could have tried his best to convince her to do the right thing since he suspected that she would have been equally conflicted about her actions. But even then if someone noticed he wasn’t sitting idly by while she was making up her mind. He tried to contact Tae-In and inform him of what was happening. Unfortunately, he got himself involved in an accident courtesy of the evil second lead. So in other words he wasn’t a total idiot. He just had bad luck.

Now let’s take the second leads sister. She should play an interesting role. To some extent I feel like she also harbors some sort of feelings towards Tae-In. Have to see whether or not that is true. (so I guess another potential for a love triangle or whatever). But that is not the real reason why she would be interesting. She has witnessed Hye Won kissing her brother (regardless of the fact that Hye Won might not have been so willing) but she can’t know that due to the angle she was standing. So for her it is like Hye Won is a gold digger who while engaged to another man was busy trying to seduce her brother. Again she doesn’t know that her brother blackmailed her into said relationship and all. This means that she will probably be Hye Won’s rival and do her best to get rid of her as she wouldn’t want to be related to such a person. Now this could mean that she could perhaps be a potential ally to Eun Dong when it comes to revenge. But according to drama laws don’t be so sure. They may have similar goals but I doubt that she will be willing to hurt her own family. Assuming that Tae-In has enough dirt to take down the entire company. Perhaps she also thinks that she is entitled to said company and is merely letting Tae-In run the company so that she can have him. Also to perhaps prevent Hye Won from getting it. So I have my doubts if she would be a willing ally to Eun Dong. Especially if you add the fact of a love triangle into the mix or the fact that Eun Dong is trying to hurt the man that she loves while on the way to take down Evil Duo.

Not so sure why Eun Dong is getting arrested. They say that it was because she bullied the bully but is this before or after her father got himself in the accident. Because if it is the former then am pretty sure that the case was closed because Tae-In should have testified that he witnessed her being bullied and has evidence that those girls were chasing her. On the other hand it makes sense if it happened when she went to school and the bullies tried to bully her again. At that point it is safe to assume that this would be an entirely new case and since there aren’t any witness to bail her out she will suffer for quite some time. Though if one comes down to it Korea is a really small place that almost every character seems to know somebody else.

For instance, it turns out that Eun Dong’s father seems to know Ji Hoon. How that is remains to be seen. Was it during his priest days. Clearly Ji Hoon doesn’t know that Eun Dong is related to him otherwise they would have totally different interactions. I do wonder how he will treat her once he discovers the truth. Also more importantly I really hope that she doesn’t go down the path of thinking of using him for her revenge. I generally dislike stories like that. But it is probably going to go down that path. But for a change even if they decide to do that I hope that she can actually fall in love with him down the way and be with him in the end. Guess I will be shipping for the pair that will never be as usual. I mean I can tell that her and Tae-In are a lot alike in their personalities and principles but that might make things harder for the two of them if they end up together. It doesn’t seem like those two can compromise easily and her wanting revenge on him is certainly not going to make things any easier for all the parties involved.

Anyway since I am slightly busy with other things I will leave my post here for the time being. so till then take care all of you and keep posting. Hopefully we can have more discussions on this thread than compared to the other one that I am on aka Bad Love. So till next time.

The Chairman's wife was also in Temptation of Wife as a mentally disabled (? no offense) girl named Haneul who was the daughter of the Chairman and Min So-hee's mom. The poop slap guy was in "Two Mothers/Cuckoo Nest" as the main villain's ex.
