@chococarmela ~ this was revealed very early in the drama. it wasn't clear what exactly happened but hye won at various points mocked seo ju for having lowlife blood. the way hye won phrased it seemed like the guy was in jail or something but it was not very clear. in another scene with myung hee, seo ju said that she can handle physically beating but not emotional whipping. she also said that they clung to chairman and tried to please him like crazy because they were constantly afraid that he was going to chuck them out. so it was implied at various points that the first marriage was physically violent and this basically formed the motivations for myung hee and seo ju to try and be financially secure.

 

like @shana0127 notes, similar to his wife, chairman wasn't that good a  stepfather. myung hee basically treated ji hoon with a cold politeness but underneath both seo ju and her never felt 100% home. so now their worst fears are coming true and seo ju's spirit is at the breaking point. in some ways, eun dong was far more reassuring than chairman where she has repeatedly tried to mend the peace by assuring myung hee and seo ju that she has nothing against them and wants them in the house. chairman didn't give much verbal assurance or tried to give them that warmth.  he tolerated the two of them with a politeness similar to how myung hee tolerated ji hoon.

ED does not even love HJH, maybe gratitude, and she had only known MH for some months, while the Chairman has been married to her for 20 years, most likely rescuing her and her daughter from a deprived and violent situation. He should feel betrayed much more the ED who has not lost anything to MH. Their status and wealth are all due to him, not forgetting her leeches of  a family's wealth too. There has to be much more gratitude from her if she feels anything for him. She should be thankful for all she had. There is no indication that HJH was a problem child whom she had to slave over. A nursemaid would have been just as good if HJH did not have any filial feelings for her after 20 years. She's lucky he only has a son and not a mother as well. She is close to being the evil stepmother to me.

 

Apart from HJH's kidnapping which she can deny knowledge but she did try to block his return , MH also manipulated the shares to be the major shareholder while he was sick, her deliberate humiliation of him at a stockholders' meeting and not forgetting her run ins with Dim Sum are just not the things a wife should do to her husband, unless she has given up on the marriage.

@maribella ~ so this isn't a drama that does subtlety. kekekek.. so while I agree with you, I think this was one of those marriages where both are at fault and  I can see both sides. early on in the drama, he told kang il seob that ji hoon was acting out because he wasn't a good father or a husband. he basically buried himself in work rather than be involved with the family. it looked like some sort of arranged marriage where he couldn't bother with things at home and was emotionally closed off to everyone including ji hoon. myung hee was literally the unpaid nursemaid which is why she gets upset at ji hoon because in her mind, she did her job. so yea, she could have been warmer but shrug. seo ju's accident will likely cause all these people to thaw and be more open with each other and connect. who knows? at this point, am not even sure why am still watching. maybe since I have watched so much, I might as well stay till the end?

 

anyways, am a bit curious about the next drama. any chingus have any idea about plot or actors? does anyone know what it will be called?

Just saw the preview with subtitle .... is SJ really gonna play amnesia ... I mean she has hit the head .... they say it is serious .... what if she says i remember being engaged to TI and ED is  our stylist .... so TI ED will play noble idiots now ....and ED will plan whole wedding farce for them...... and bang we find that SJ never had  amnesia and she did it all to marry  TI and get ED out of the Han Hause !

Its beyond weird, its annoying - if they had shown her character having actual strong feelings for Chairman Han early on, it might make a bit more sense, but she has from the start been nothing but cold and calculating ... According to Asian Wiki, the follow on drama is called "Secret Man"  - I don't recognize any of the actors/actresses (disclaimer: I failed kdrama classics poll) - the synopsis was vague and sounds more like a redemption story than revenge.

Never fear! While TI is a noble idiot of the first order, and he is annoying in the extreme, he has also managed to stay one step ahead of everyone this drama - I see TI flipping SJs amnesia scheme on its head, to get ED jealous and away from HJH ... and THAT   I would love to see!

True Chairman Han is responsible for the family, but I remember he said CJH's father was employed by his father. He was still broken hearted that Dim Sum split. Probably just grabbed any old woman presented to him. 
 

MH was an abused, poor single mother, became the wife of a rich man, her daughter was adopted, they both are directors with shares in the company, able to afford expensive clothes, has to take care of one boy,

let me think  Nope, he is definitely not getting his money's worth.

 

I am watching Once again but may skip a few weeks. There is a kimbab woman with a heart of gold who is being manipulated by a 'friend' who owes her money and most likely is going to stab her in the back. This 'heart of gold ' type is so exasperating. There is another one Men are Men which is enjoyable now, but who knows what the future holds. 

I have not read anything about the show after FP. Maybe too early?

Hmm. Tbh I might watch “Secret Man” because Lee Chae-young (one of my favorite k-drama villains) is in it. But the plot doesn’t seem that interesting to me at all. It reminds me of “The Secret of my Man”, which became a little more revenge-focused towards the end. (Never finished it. I have to do so soon, is it good?)

abba mama decides the perfect time to visit eun chan is when everyone is in hospital. the kid has no interest in singing abba songs.  myung hee has come to the point where she is just fed up with her relatives. she even tells eun dong to go full torpedo on hye won and not allow her to get away. hye won is dumb -- what kind of apology is coming to the room and then saying "it is your fault. shrug" -- the woman hasn't learned any iota of sensitivity or self-preservation. makes me think that she will end up murdered soon. who wants to bet?

You are welcome to spill your frustration here . Just think drama ended at  episode 65. And you will be happy. TI has not much to do . His ED is happily married and all he does now is smile like some great grandpa . He will be happily smiling even if tie  him to a tree. So don’t expect much , stop watching this drama and be happy like him

Don’t be too hard on half a brain ABBA mama. She is one of the tools for the writer to redeem the overbearing ungrateful snob MH and make the audience happy when Chairman Han takes her back. Worrying sick about her meal ticket SJ is another tool. Just kill SJ, I want a fatal of the title, that should  perk things up, it would also guarantee her return to her old position... chaebol’s wife.

 

If the series runs for 100 episodes, we should see TI with more screen time soon. 
 

Why are they picking on Hye Won? Once again, I say she is not giving justice to the honour of being Chief of Staff whether bad or good or evil. Let her use her head to fight back or be evil. She’s being played by both ED and CJH and a specialist should be brainy. Even the white coat Is taken away from her now.
I want her to go to prison, so she cannot die.

Even I want her dead but seems like TI is doomed . She won’t die 

 

if MH returns to Han Hause then I will say she is woman with no pride. Her daughter ended comatose coz she kept on licking Han shoes while she and her daughter became non existent for them the day they knew the truth ! They have lost respect and position they commanded . SJ realized it and broke up but MH must stay strong rather then beg! She must take hefty alimony  and leave the Hause with head held high rather then be despised every moment in that Hause . She must get her daughter revamped and live a new life . Chairman Han and his crybaby son will be well cared by their holy Mary ED .

 

There seems nothing fetal in fetal promise. All are happy here , no deaths and accident ! A side girl accident does not bring any spice . The one whom I wanna die is still irritating me around.  Should  not main character get accidents ? 
 

Only CJH can redeem this show for me with some of his desperate acts like truck of doom or just push TI or ED down the building . Make it happening , make it fetal

I watched the preview which looked like her heart stopped beating. oh darn it darn it. Sheer boredom.
