TBH i think Ji Won is kinda dumb isn't she?! I mean in which world you can find such a perfect husbands. They just don't exist. She should've figured it out already

They do exist but only after extensive training. At least 2 decades.

This scene was bit uncomfortable to watch. He was not only talking about how easy it is to fool his wife but he was also taking about the mother of the child he was holding. That poor kid doesn't even know that her father is saying such things about her mother and is sleeping peacefully. :pensive:

I'm just assuming, because that news article calling BHS a "math genius" sounded so... not him. Wouldn't his adoptive parents push him to a "better" career if he was such a brilliant student? Something is fishyyy

They mentioned about an embarrassing secret on BHS's adopted father's character description. Maybe the real BHS is mentally ill or gay (which is still a big thing in Korea and not quite well received) and killed him secretly to protect his Hospital Director reputation and later got DHS to play his son's role. Or maybe there was never a "real BHS" to begin with.

He's fooling the daughter too. It's a little bit too cruel for hot, attractive psychopaths of Kdrama. I feel bad the most for the little girl if all his love and affection for her were just an act.

Maybe he’s trying to fool his parents into thinking he’s not too attached so they won’t get involved or separate them.

He wants to protect his secret from getting to Ji won ,maybe that’s why he hurts Moo Jin.

Like Ji Won and that mother ,he would take the pill too if it means having this life for longer.
In the trailer,we hear him say, I want to live as Baek Hee Sung for longer. Maybe it’s for Jiwon, but it also could be for the luxury.

Mum seems creepily jealous.

its hard to figure who he’s really fooling, her or his parents? Or both ? I think he’s fooling himself the most but we can’t reach a conclusion due to it being only the first episode.

@LyraYoo @partyonOmg, the first episode is very very good. I love the way they end off the first episode! It really tells us the contrasting personalities that uri Mr Beak has! Now..About the case in his hometown, I think he was framed and because of his narcissism he will put it as his doing, because he likes it. He likes the attention (from the narcissistic point of view)

The water scene to me symbolises the idea of a coverup. A coverup made from lies to cover the truth, the overwhelming feelings makes BHS struggle for a bit then when he relax that is when he finally manage to fit in with the lies and adapt it as his own. Then after he adapts, that is when she comes in to play which helps HS to further upgrade his fake life.

@Madu Mita I agree with you that he’s fooling himself right now thinking that the past won’t come catching up.

I like that there is ambiguity about him: Is he trying to protect wife/child or himself from the past catching up or a bit of both? It makes things much more interesting and dynamic.

If he really is a psycopath to the core then it's mostly himself. Depends on his level of psycopathy really. But I've always hated the assumption that  Psycopaths are cold blooded Kilers. Like there could be psycopaths out there who excel at putting nice guys act who easily fool everyone.

If you think about it, being a really nice guy is more stable and comfortable than being a killer on the run. Its easy to reap benefits of the society by being nice.

Hee Sung seems to be both, which is also an intresting dynamic.

I think its more about protecting his comfort than just concern for his wife.

His current life with wife and daughter are of comfort to him.

True, I can see that he is loving his family real well, tbh when I hear him saying that she is the love of his life. It feels very real very raw, so I think it’s the truth, but..but, in a way his love for his wife do help to cover up his real story. It’s just one day...that cover will be broken by her..

——

We have questions about him...Like why he left his hometown and why the murder started after he left? Judging from how dramas usually goes, 100% can say that he did not kill that individual in his hometown. Then his parents(?) with the “We are on the same boat.” At first I thought that they have psychopathic genes too, but guess not(?)

I wonder the hooded man...is it HS?

The first episode was daebak! I think LJK was made for such a role, he always had a bad boy aura and this ambiguous role really suits him.

Well, I think he’s trying to protect his wife and the daughter, he’s trying to fool his “parents” that he doesn’t care about his little family so they would leave them be.

He’s obviously done so bad things in the past, though I’m not convinced he’s a serial killer. I hope Viki team will translate episode 2 fast, can’t wait to watch it!

I think that most of the casts still Are not yet being able to convey much of emotions and characters. Even with Lee Joon gi and moon char won, they are not there yet. His mother and father are superb actor and Actress . I can see why JG himself worried that he might not be able to portray the character well. The storyline and the beginning is ok. There are many mysteries that the audiences want to find the answers and having us curious about.
